Modele symulacyjne systemów transportowych są kluczowym narzędziem do rozwiązywania wielu zagadnień z zakresu zarządzania tymi systemami. Metodologie tworzenia tych modeli wykorzystują zestawy danych zarówno o infrastrukturze transportowej, jak i o popycie na dostawę towarów lub przewozy pasażerów, jednak w tym zakresie wiele czynników uwzględniano na podstawie przypuszczeń z powodu złożoności modelowanych obiektów. W niniejszym artykule opisano podejście do modelowania systemu przewozów towarowych transportem drogowym w skali całej Polski, w oparciu o dane uzyskiwane przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny na podstawie badania TD-E. Takie podejście pozwala uniknąć wielu przypuszczeń dotyczących popytu na przewozy towarowe, ponieważ parametry tego popytu są oszacowywane w oparciu o próbkę reprezentującą populację generalną – zbiór wszystkich podmiotów gospodarczych kraju generujących ruch towarowy. Podstawowe procedury w opracowanym podejściu do modelowania systemu transportu towarowego zaimplementowano w postaci skryptów w języku Python. W wyniku wykorzystania proponowanej metodologii uzyskano model ciężarowego transportu drogowego w skali całego kraju na podstawie danych badania TD-E z roku 2018. Ocenę adekwatności opracowanego modelu przeprowadzono w oparciu o wyniki Generalnego Pomiaru Ruchu z roku 2015 na podstawie współczynnika determinacji jako miary jakości. Uzyskany model charakteryzuje się zadowalającą jakością (wartość współczynnika determinacji wyniosła 0.62), która może być poprawiona po kalibracji funkcji oporu przestrzeni oraz udoskonalenia procedury rozkładu ruchu na sieć drogową.
Simulation models of transport systems are a key tool for addressing many issues in the field of management of these systems. The methodologies for creating such models use data sets on both transport infrastructure and demand for the freights or passenger transport, however, many factors are considered based on assumptions due to the complexity. This article describes the approach to modeling the cargo transportation system for road transport in Poland based on data obtained by the Central Statistical Office from the TD-E survey. This approach avoids many assumptions about the demand as the demand parameters are estimated based on a sample representing the general population – a set of all economic entities generating freight traffic. Basic procedures in the developed approach have been implemented as Python scripts. As a result of the use of the proposed methodology, a country-wide road transport model was obtained based on the TD-E survey from 2018. The adequacy of the developed model was assessed based on the results of the General Traffic Survey from 2015. The obtained model is of satisfactory quality (the coefficient of determination equals 0.62), which can be improved after calibrating the space resistance functions and improving the traffic distribution procedure.

Efficient freight transportation systems typically reduce the cost of moving goods to and from logistics facilities. The demand matrix (O-D) is used to load or allocate the flow of traffic on a network, usually defined as a matrix that detects the number of trips. The objective of this study is to contribute to road freight modeling in Baghdad in general and estimate the O-D matrix for truck traffic using the freight transport data collected. Freight data was collected through roadside and interview surveys at the seven entrances of Baghdad city. In addition, the analysis was performed using Trans CAD ver. 4.5 software. The results provide an analysis of the freight travel demand. The output of this study is useful for decision-makers in the evaluation and execution of freight transportation activities and aids the application of correct decisions.

Niniejsze badania opierają się na analizie niepublikowanych danych o  średniodobowym ruchu pociągów towarowych po sieci kolejowej zarządzanej przez PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe i PKP Linię Hutniczą Szerokotorową. Przedstawiono także zmiany, jakie zaszły w tym czasie na rynku kolejowych przewozów towarowych w Polsce, dotyczące wielkości i struktury towarowej przewozów, liczby przewoźników i  ich udziału w  rynku. Dekada 2010-2020 charakteryzowała się nasileniem inwestycji na sieci kolejowej w  Polsce, a  także dynamicznym rozwojem rynku przewoźników i  wewnętrznej konkurencji między nimi. Zmiany te nie przyczyniły się jednak do zwiększenia roli kolei w strukturze gałęziowej transportu. Ruch kolejowy wykazywał tendencję do coraz większej koncentracji na głównych szlakach. Niezmiennie od wielu lat największym ruchem towarowym charakteryzowała się magistrala CE65 łącząca porty Trójmiasta z Górnym Śląskiem i granicą z Czechami. Wpływ na rozkład ruchu kolejowego miały aktualnie prowadzone inwestycje i związane z nimi zamknięcia torowe i trasowanie pociągów objazdami.
This research is based on the analysis of unpublished data on the average daily traffic of freight trains on the railway network managed by PKP Polish Railway Lines and Broad Gauge Metallurgical Railway Line. The changes that took place at that time on the rail freight market in Poland were also presented in terms of the volume and structure of freight transport, the number of carriers, and their market share. The 2010-2020 decade was characterized by increased investments in the railway network in Poland, as well as the dynamic development of the carrier market and internal competition between them. However, these changes did not contribute to increasing the role of railways in the branch structure of transport. Rail traffic tended to be increasingly concentrated on the main routes. Invariably, for many years, the largest freight traffic was characterized by the CE65 main, connecting the ports of the Tri-City with Upper Silesia and the border with the Czech Republic. The current investments and the related track closures and routing trains by detours had an impact on the railway traffic distribution.

Opis:
The research on improvement of methodical approaches to definition of the probable reasons of infringement of conditions of stability of freight cars from derailment is carried out. Using a basic computer model of the dynamics of a freight car, the influence of the characteristics of the technical condition of their running gear and track on the indicators of empty cars stability from derailment was studied through the computational experiment. The article presents the main statements of the research methodology, which provides the analysis of probable causes of derailment of freight cars by conducting a series of numerical experiments with logging the progress of calculations and saving the results. Factor analysis was used to interpret the calculated data with an assessment of each of the factors influence or their combination on the probability of derailment. The developed procedure of the simulation experiment provides a step-by-step study of the freight cars derailment conditions, including factors structuring and ranking, development of experimental plan, calculating coefficients of wheel pairs resistance to derailment from rails, provided that the wheel flange rolls onto the rail head, and determining the degree of influence of relevant factors on the dynamic stability of cars from derailment. A comparative analysis of the stability of cars in rail tracks was performed using the introduced concept of the combined coefficient of stability of wheel pairs against derailment. Determining the probable causes of car derailment is based on scanning the parameter field. The results of the parametric study revealed the degree of influence on the freight cars stability of running gear technical condition characteristics. In particular, it is determined that the most dangerous in terms of stability loss of empty cars in the track is the exceeding of the wedges of the vibration dampers.

Surat is one of the major textile manufacturing hubs in India, having 40% of the synthetic fabric produced in the country. The textile industry in the city has witnessed tremendous growth in the last decade, leading to many transportation-related changes within it. Textile manufacturing has different phases like weaving, processing, value addition and trading or distribution. These phases are located as clusters or pockets in different parts of the city. The scattered nature of the industry generates numerous freight trips. This study focuses on characterizing and estimating textile freight trips in the city. Establishment survey data was collected from production units located in various clusters. A multi-linear regression model for freight trips generated using the quantity of cloth produced was developed for the estimation of the total textile freight trips. Thus, this study will help the planner identify the strategic location of the textile and its allied industries as well as for freight infrastructure in the city. More so, it would help in understanding the impacts of textile freight movement on the city’s overall traffic.

This paper deals with a Structural Decomposition (SDA) applied to the analysis of the freight traffic demand in an Input Output (IO) modelling context. After reviewing the basic definitions of IO models and some methodological references for their application in the freight transport field, the paper proposes the application of the SDA in the perspective of a freight corridor. This application takes place downstream of an IO model that directly relates the quantities of goods transported along the corridor with the functioning of the reference economic system. Considering the evolution of tons annually trans-ported in a certain time interval, the SDA model allows to isolate the specific effects related to: intensity of freight traffic typical of the corridor; technological structure of the production sectors; characteristics of the final demand in relation to its overall level, sectoral structure and allocation between components. The SDA model is applied to a case study considering the total volumes of goods annually in transit at the Brenner pass between 2000 and 2014. The evaluation of the polar forms of the multiplicative decomposition and their geometric mean allow to quantify the effects of each factor on the variation of the tonnage in terms of indexed value, absolute variation and percentage contribution compared to the base year (2000). The relative influences on freight traffic at the Brenner pass are therefore highlighted, both in terms of total volumes transited and impacts attributable to each of the decomposition factors introduced, with particular evidence also in the event of periods of economic and financial crisis. The SDA specified in the paper and the related case study provide useful elements for studying the traffic demand of goods through a freight corridor, helping in outlining the effects of the different driving forces related to the economic system and affecting freight transport demand trends.

Input Output model are of great interest in the transport sector, especially regarding freight transport demand. These models allow to analyze the cross effects of: political, macroeconomic and transport changes; industrial dynamics; exchange flows between different sites within a reference area, more or less divided into subareas. Although very interesting and desirable to be used and disseminated, their use is often hindered by the complexity of the modelling structures that need to describe the interactions with the transport systems and by the difficulty of finding complete and reliable data. In this context, this paper deals with a macro-level Input Output approach for freight demand analysis, which directly relates the quantities of goods transported along a multimodal corridor to the functioning of the economic system. The proposed model is structured on two levels: the first level allows the sectoral production forecasts of the entire economic system based on the exogenous final demand; the second allows the forecast of tons transported, annually and by sector, along the corridor based on the sectoral production estimated at the first level. The two modelling levels are applied to the analysis and forecast of freight traffic demand along the Italian-Austrian cross-border stretch of the Brenner corridor, a fundamental axis of the European transport infrastructure network. The model has been verified and validated on data covering 15 years between 2000 and 2014 using the reclassified time series of Input Output tables and the international trade data for Italy. The model has been used to produce medium-long term forecasts for different economic scenarios. The macro-level point of view and the application for the corridor provide a simple and directly applicable model compared to the complex articulations that characterize the Input Output applications to the transport systems, which can hinder their concrete use as decision support in the planning of transport infrastructures.

The results of further research on the creation of a mathematical model of railway freight traffic carried out in a regional transport and technological system are presented. The proposed logistic approach is applied to the issues of optimizing the management of transportation directed to ports located on the southeast coast of the Baltic Sea. Built on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of the transport infrastructure of the region under consideration and the performance of the operating company, the mathematical model provides ample opportunities to address issues of regulating of transportation. The method of economic and geographical delimitation of the ≪influence areas≫ of loading stations is significantly developed both in terms of using the geometric properties of higher order algebraic curves and in terms of a deeper approach to studying the transportation process. The results of the research can serve as one of the basis for improving the economic efficiency of the functioning of international transport corridors in the framework of multimodal transport.

The problem of effective management of the railway freight flows in the conditions of the multiplicity of operators requires the rationalization of the transportation process. The further development of the authors’ research on creating the mathematical model of the railway freight flows in the region transportation and technological system is presented. For the first time, the theory of algebraic curves of higher orders is used to create a territorial model of the oligopolistic market of freight traffic. The algorithm for creating a model of freight transportation is based on the analysis of the qualitative and quantitative indicators of the operator company in the considered region with the use of analytical, heuristic, and graphic capabilities of math software. The theoretical substantia-tion of the territorial picture, the freight transportation market in the region is obtained. The carried-out research allows to specify possible ways of optimization of freight traffic distribution.

Urban areas which use information technologies in order to solve different social, economic, and environmental issues, and at the same time create durable economic development and high quality of life, are referred to as ‘smart cities’. A great nuisance for all contemporary agglomerations is the problem of the growing street traffic. Owing to the specificity of the dynamics of traffic, attempts at taming it can be undertaken, consisting in logistics programming, that is in managing traffic participants so as to reduce their density and liquidate ‘empty rides’. And this is the field of action for smart technologies (smart solutions).

Opis:
Arrangement of logistic companies over oblasts of the Western Ukrainian borderland is studied and characterised. Main logistic centers within the oblasts are singled out. Availability of subjects of transportation and distributional logistics is studied. Railway and automobile networks are comprehensively assessed. Capacity and peculiarities of railway and automobile freight traffic flows are studied. Customs posts and crossing points at Western Ukrainian State border are described. Methods of numerical evaluation of transport and logistic potential index for borderland oblasts are suggested and index values for the Western Ukrainian borderland oblasts are calculated. Numerical evaluation of transport and logistic index is conducted.
