    Opis:
    The article presents results of 38 observation sessions of 10 groups of children aged 3 to 6 years during the time dedicated to play. The aim of the research was to determine the material and emotional conditions for free play depending on the time of day. The results of the observation showed that preschool-aged children play in different places of the preschool classroom, engage mostly in construction and theme play. They use many more toys in their play in the morning and before noon than they do in the afternoon. Play activity is especially intensive in the morning in comparison to the afternoon.

    Przedmiotem opracowania jest status zabawy swobodnej we współczesnych tendencjach rodzicielskich i w zjawisku projektowania dzieciństwa. Celem autorki jest omówienie problemu marginalizowania roli zabawy swobodnej w wychowaniu. Klasyczne teorie zabawy definiują ją przez pryzmat swobodnej, spontanicznej aktywności, która stanowi nieodłączny element dzieciństwa. Współcześnie, w wychowaniu instytucjonalnym, zabawa swobodna ustępuje miejsca nauczaniu przez zabawę, o czym świadczą programy edukacji żłobkowej i przedszkolnej oraz bogata oferta zajęć dodatkowych. Autorka przyjmuje zatem, że środowiskiem, w którym należy rozpatrywać kwestię zabawy swobodnej, jest rodzina. W związku z powyższym w artykule podjęto refleksję nad współczesnymi tendencjami rodzicielskimi oraz nad zjawiskiem projektowania dzieciństwa. Z ich teoretycznej analizy wyłania się obraz zabawy swobodnej jako kategorii nieobecnej we współczesnym dzieciństwie. Autorka dostrzega problem zawłaszczania dziecięcej autonomii i stawia pytanie o prawo dziecka do zabawy w XXI wieku.
    The subject of the study is the status of free play in contemporary parenting trends and in the phenomenon of childhood design. The author’s objective is to discuss the problem of marginalized role of free play in children’s upbringing. Classic theories of play define it through the prism of free, spontaneous activity, which is an inseparable element of childhood. Nowadays, in institutional education, free play gives way to teaching through play, as evidenced by nursery and pre-school education curricula and a wide range of extra classes. The author therefore assumes that the issue of free play should be considered in the family environment. In view of the above, the article reflects upon contemporary parenting trends and the phenomenon of childhood design. The picture that emerges from their theoretical analysis is the picture of free play as a category which is missing in contemporary childhood. The author recognizes the problem of appropriating child’s autonomy and raises the question of the child’s right to play in the 21st century.

    Over recent decades, digital games have been trying to find new ways to monetize their player base. The games have evolved from purely premium titles sold as a product, to repeatedly monetized free-to-play games as a service that allow players to spend limitless amount on various microtransactions. However, there are still some oddities present on the gaming market. The case study analyses the digital game Pokémon TCG Live, which does not have any form of direct monetization. The study points out how it corresponds to both the overarching Pokémon franchise, as well as the digital games industry. Its main goal is to identify its core mechanics that are traditionally connected with monetization practices, and find its position on the market in relation to other digital trading card games. Another point of interest for our study is the high level of interconnection between the printed and digital versions of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and how it impacts the online client.

    Opis:
    The article analyses own research and literature findings about correlation between work and play. The research was conducted by using the following methods: ethnographic interviews with Elk region citizens, analysis of diaries and autobiographies. From a contemporary perspective, the author reaches for memories of people in various age. They describe their childhood, when work was usually related with play and toys were handmade by children and adults. These memories are presented as a continuation of theoretical presentation of the topic in the first chapter of the article. In traditional cultures adults had designated time for work, and for rest and celebration. The memories show that children despite having work duties were able to play also during noncelebration time and sometimes they perceived work as something fun to do. Such attitude is natural for children. It is easier for them to go outside their everyday life and find some temporary activities. Characteristic for folk culture recurrence is the reason that some annual customs has survived and both children and adults participate in them. However everyday life of the authors of the memories and also of other people has changed significantly, mainly due to modern technologies.
