The aim of the paper is to analyse two Spanish greeting formulas derivated from the atelic predicate besar las manos (y los pies) ‘to kiss the hands (and feet)’, which, despite their apparent formal resemblance, came to codify totally opposite socio-pragmatic values. Through the systematic search in epistolary texts until the beginnings of the 20th century we will try to find (i) the socio-pragmatic factors that play the most important role in each type of greeting; (ii) the paradigmatic origin of each formula, and (iii) their sociocultural distribution.

Opis:
Teksty magiczne realizowane są w postaci formuł (klisz, obrazów, schematów), tj. słów kluczowych, które odróżniają tego typu wypowiedzi, inicjują i formułują samą wypowiedź oraz określają typy wypowiedzi magicznych. Przedmiotem zainteresowania autora są formuły magiczne oparte na paralelizmie, a zwłaszcza zbudowane na zasadzie dwuczłonowości. Są to wypowiedzi wykorzystujące obrazy zakończonych czynności, lecz nieprzedstawiające procesualności. Często nie ma w nich prostego zwrotu ani też skierowania do istot, które mają spełnić oczekiwania. Autor omawia trzy typy takich formuł: włączenia/wyłączenia, zamiany/podziału oraz o charakterze warunkowym. Formuły włączenia/wyłączenia są realizowane poprzez związanie „i… i…” (włączenie) oraz „ani… ani…” (wyłączenie), np. i dniem, i nocą ‘cały czas’, ni w dzień, ni w nocy ‘nigdy’. Formuły zamiany/podziału spotykane są w wypowiedziach, które mówią o wymianie czegoś z obiektami przyrody, siłami zewnętrznymi i innymi ludźmi. Odwzorowaniu owej wymiany służą pary słów moje – twoje, mnie – tobie (np. obfitą menstruację wymienia się z rzeką, bezsenność dziecka z istotą mitologiczną, pierwszy lub ostatni plon na polu z animizowanym gospodarzem pola itp.). Formuły, u podstawy których leży ruch, wykorzystują elementy przestrzenne (na lewo – na prawo, w górę, w dół), obejmując obydwa lub wyłączając jeden z elementów. Poprzez selektywne wykluczenie jeden element wydziela się, a drugi odrzuca (teraz – później, np. przy zapraszaniu niebezpiecznych sił na wieczerzę wigilijną). Formuły o charakterze warunkowym zbudowane są na obustronnym związku realnego (lub nierealnego) i pożądanego. Są to formuły: ilościowe (ile, tyle), przyczynowo-skutkowe (jeśli, to), temporalne (wtedy, kiedy), wskazujące na sposób (tak, jak), jakość (takie, jakie), w których elementowi pierwszej wypowiedzi, odpowiada element wypowiedzi drugiej.
Texts of magic are realized as formuli (frozen texts, images, schemata), i.e. key words which identify them, initiate and formulate the texts as such and specify their functions. The article forcuses on magic formuli based on parallelism, and especially on the two- element principle. These are texts which make use of the images of completed activities but which do not present processuality. Frequently they do not contain any expression or a form of address to beings, who/which are exprected to fulfil one’s expectations. Three types of such formuli are discussed: inclusion/exclusion, exchange/division and conditionality. The formuli of inclusion/exclusion are realized by i .. . i ... ‘both . . . and .. . ’ (inclusion) and ani ... ani ... ‘neither ... nor ...’ (exclusion), e.g. i dniem, i nocą (lit. ‘both during the day and at night’) ‘all the time’; ni w dzień, ni w nocy (lit. ‘neither during the day nor at night), ‘never’. The formuli of exchange/division are present in texts which refer to exchanging something with nature, with external forces or with other people. The exchange is expressed by the pairs of words moje — twoje ‘my/mine — your/yours’, mnie — tobie ‘me — you’ (e.g. heavy menstruation is exchanged for something else with a river, sleeplessness of a child with a mythological being, the first or last harvest during the year with an animated farmer — the field owner, etc.). Formuli based on movement utilize spatial expressions (na lewo — na prawo ‘left — right’, w górę — w dół ‘up — down’) with both or one of the elements. By selective exclusion, one of the elements is chosen and the other is rejected (teraz — później ‘now — later’, e.g. while inviting dangerous forces to the Christmas Eve supper). Conditional formuli are based on a reciprocal relationship between the real (or the unreal) and the desired. The formuli are of the following types (the second element corresponds to the first one): quantitative (ile, tyle ‘if that much (of something), then that much (of something else)’), causal-resultative (jeśli, to ‘if ... then ...’), temporal (wtedy, kiedy ‘when ..., then ...’), indicative of the method (tak, jak ‘in the way such as ...’), indicative of the quality (takie, jakie ‘like ... like ...’). All two-element expressions are used to create the opposition of completeness — incompleteness, realized in demands from the following spehres: farming (good harvest— poor harvest), material possessions (wealth — poverty), psychological life (satisfaction— dissatisfaction), social life (social bond, acceptance — hatred, loneliness). Together with the belief in mythical and magical associations between phenomena, two-element texts of magic are based on the pairs of formuli and words which re-establish these associations in order to fulfil certain demands or regulate certain relationships in nature and in the society.

The article is dedicated to some greeting formulae and some address forms in contempo-rary Chinese (more precisely Mandarin) language. It discusses general rules of grammatical and lexical system as well as pragmatics and language politeness both in official and unoffi-cial speech. The text is partly of a comparative character (it presents how different expres-sions function within Polish and Chinese communication). It also underlines the glottodi-dactic aspect, which, in this case, refers to teaching not only a foreign language but also a foreign culture.

Here we show the importance of a systematic method to generate any integer power of a matrix in 2, 3 and 4 dimensions. This is motivated by the integration of Frenet–Serret formulae for the case of constant curvatures, and by the relativistic motion of a point charge into a homogeneous electromagnetic field, because in such situations it is necessary to calculate being a scalar. By these reasons, we believe that this work can be useful for people interested in linear algebra, differential geometry and electrodynamics.

Im Beitrag werden konventionalisierte Sprachmuster thematisiert, die bei der Kommunikation beim Passieren der deutsch-polnischen Grenze Verwendung fanden bzw. immer noch finden können. Das Untersuchungsmaterial hierfür stammt aus ausgewählten deutsch-polnischen Sprachführern, und zwar von den ersten Drucken aus dem 16. Jh. bis zu den Neuausgaben der letzten Jahre. Aus den Inhalten der genannten Nachschlagewerke werden zahlreiche Beispiele für deutsche Redemuster im angegebenen Bereich exzerpiert, dann thematisch gruppiert und dabei chronologisch dargestellt, mitunter auch kurz kommentiert. Ziel hierbei ist, typische Sprachmittel bei der Interaktion zwischen den (Ein-/Aus-) Reisenden und den Zollbeamten an Grenzkontrollstellen retrospektiv darzustellen. Ergänzend wird hierbei auf die (Un)Höflichkeit und emotionale Ladung der an der Grenze verwendeten Sprachmittel Bezug genommen. Die durchgeführte Analyse zeigte, dass die im Laufe der Zeit (seit dem 19. Jh. beginnend) an Grenzkontrollstellen gebrauchten sprachlichen Formeln wenig variierten. Darüber hinaus ließ sich feststellen, dass die sprachliche Verständigung zwischen den Zollbeamten und den Reisenden im 19. Jh. und zu Beginn des 20. Jh. in großem Maße sehr höflich verlief, wobei auch später, trotz einer etwas geringeren Gefälligkeit beiderseits, ziemlich höflich anmutet(e). Anhand des gesammelten sprachlichen Materials konnte man zudem teilweise auch erfahren, welche Regelungen jeweils an der deutsch-polnischen Grenze galten. Die vorliegende Untersuchung stellt somit einen Beitrag zu soziopragmatischen und zugleich auch phraseologischen Fragen aus diachroner Perspektive dar.
The paper deals with conventionalised linguistic formulae that once were or still are in use in communication when crossing the German-Polish border. The research material for this analysis comes from selected German-Polish phrasebooks, from the first printings in the 16th century to recently published editions. Numerous examples of German expressions regarding the specified area are excerpted from the contents of the above-mentioned reference works, then grouped thematically and presented chronologically, sometimes with brief commentary. The aim here is to present expressions used repetitively in language interaction between travelers and customs officials at border control points retrospectively. In addition, reference is made to the (im)politeness and emotional charge of the language used at the border. The analysis carried out showed that the language formulae used at border control points have not changed much over the course of time, starting from the 19th century. Furthermore, it was determined that the communication between customs officials and travelers in the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century relied on a large number of conventionalized politeness formulae. In the more recent examples, the language used is also polite, though the formulaic expressions are different as the manner of linguistic politeness itself has changed over the years. In addition, it was possible to find out which regulations applied at the German-Polish border. The present study thus represents a contribution to sociopragmatics while also addressing phraseological issues from a diachronic perspective.

The paper improves approximation theory based on the Trotter–Kato product formulae. For self-adjoint \(C_0\)-semigroups we develop a lifting of the strongly convergent Chernoff approximation (or product) formula to convergence in the operator-norm topology. This allows to obtain optimal estimate for the rate of operator-norm convergence of Trotter–Kato product formulae for Kato functions from the class \(K_2\).

The torsion of bars with a multiply connected cross sections by means of the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) is considered herein. To determine the optimal parameters of MFS, genetic algorithms were used. Seven cases of cross sections are considered. The numerical results for different cross sectional shapes are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the method. Non-dimension torsional stiffness was calculated by means of numerical integration of the stress function for one of the cases. This stiffness is compared with the exact stiffness for the first case and with the stiffness resulting from Bredt’s formulae for thin walled cross sections.
W artykule rozważano skręcanie pretów z wielospójnym przekrojem poprzecznym za pomocą metody rozwiązań podstawowych (MRP). Do wyznaczenia optymalnych parametrów MRP wykorzystano algorytmy genetyczne. W pracy rozważano siedem problemów testowych. Bezwymiarowe sztywności skręcania liczono za pomocą numerycznego całkowania funkcji naprężeń dla jednego z przypadków. Te sztywności porównywano ze ścisłą sztywnością dla pierwszego przypadku i ze sztywnością uzyskaną ze wzoru Bredta dla cieńkich przekrojów poprzecznych.

In this paper we examine the narrative formulae of the Cantar de Mio Cid (CMC) in order to trace phenomena of the transposition of the original deictic reference they include. As a result, it is argued that the formulae used by the narrator of the CMC may have a phatic function as they absorb the perspective of the addressee: either by a centripetal or a centrifugal movements of the narration. Uso del componente deíctico en las fórmulas narrativas del Cantar de Mio Cid 21 Moreover some expressions seem to serve (intratextually) to organize the informational pattern of the plot by enhancing the epic text with an additional meaning. Finally, it is concluded that the analysis of the pragmatic component of the CMC may add some new insights for its literary, linguistic and textual construction.

1 Kor 8, 6, ein klassischer Parallelismus Membrorum, bringt es mit sich, dass man ihn als literarische Ganzheit betrachtet und dementsprechend vor Paulus auftauchen lässt (Kramer), oder auch durch Paulus verfasst, doch schon vor dem Niederschlag von 1 Kor durch den Apostel selbst in seinen Unterweisungen angewendet sieht (Thüsing). Der Verf. erwägt eine dritte Möglichkeit, gemäss welcher 1 Kor 8, 6 drei verschiedenen Einzelstucke enthalt: 1. Die monotheistische Bekenntnisformel — „Ein Gott der Vater und Ein Herr Jesus Christus” 2. die vorerst rein kosmologisch ausgedehnt wird — „von dem alles und alles auf ihn, durch den alles” 3. und dann von Paulus den soteriologischen Zusatz erhält — „und wir auf ihn, und wir durch ihn”. Dass eine kosmologische Erweiterung ohne eigentliche soteriologische Ausprägungen möglich ist, und das im hellenistischen Raum, beweist, um hier nur ein schlagendes Argument zu bringen, das Lied im Johannes-Prolog, das am bekannten Epiphanie-Schema orientiert ist (Hegermann) und daher mit der Fleischwerdung schlechthin endet.

Inteligentne cechy mikrołożysk o średnicach wału około 1 milimetra oraz o wysokościach szczeliny często mniejszych od jednego mikrometra osiągamy poprzez nacięcia rowków o średniej głębokości około 100 nm o różnym kształcie i rozmaitym usytuowaniu po kierunku kąta opasania, a także w kierunku wzdłużnym na współpracujących powierzchniach warstw wierzchnich czopa i panewki o różnych kształtach. Takie rowki zmieniają wysokości supercienkiej szczeliny mikrołożyska o różnej geometrii czopa. Zarówno kształty rowków, jak też kształty czopów walcowych, stożkowych, parabolicznych, hiperbolicznych wpływają istotnie na rozkłady wartości ciśnień hydrodynamicznych oraz na wartości sił tarcia. W niniejszej pracy ograniczymy się do czopów walcowych. Dla umożliwienia obliczeń numerycznych rozkładów ciśnienia hydrodynamicznego, sił nośnych, sił tarcia w mikrołożyskach niniejsza praca przy wykorzystaniu jednostkowych funkcji Heaviside'a oraz rozwinięć funkcji w szeregi Fouriera, przedstawia formuły analityczne opisu różnych kształtów rowków i żeberek na powierzchniach czopa i panewki. Żeberkowane oraz rowkowane czopy mają zastosowanie w mikrołożyskach dla HDD.
In micro-bearings, where journal diameter has values up to 1 millimetre and the height of the micro-bearing gap has the largest value 1 micrometer, the intelligent features are attained by the groove and ridges on the sleeve and journal surfaces. The average groove depth and ridge height has a value of about 100 nm. The grooves have various geometrical shapes and are lying on the superficial layer of the sleeve and on the journal and are situated in circumferential and longitudinal directions of the cooperating bearing surfaces. The journals have additionally various geometrical shapes; however, in this paper, we are restricted to the cylindrical bearings only. Such grooves and ridges change in real form the height of the super thin, micro-bearing gap where the journal has various shapes. The geometrical shapes of the grooves and the cylindrical, conical, parabolic, hyperbolical geometry of the bearing journal has substantial influence on the hydrodynamic pressure distribution values and friction forces. Using the unit Heaviside'a function and Fourier series expansions, the present paper shows the various formulae for an analytical description of the various shapes of grooves, which enables one to perform the numerical calculations of the hydrodynamic pressure, carrying capacities, and friction forces. The grooved and ridged gaps have applications in Computer Hard Discs Drivers (HDD) microbearings.

A One-step Extended Block Hybrid Formulae (OEBHF) for solving Orbital problems is presented. The processes compute the solutions of Orbital Problems in a block by block fashion by some discrete schemes obtained from the associated continuous schemes and its first derivatives which are combined and implemented as a set of block formulae. The analysis of the method was examined, it was found to be zero stable, consistence, convergent and A-stable. The order, error constants and the region of absolute stability was also investigated, MATLAB package was used to plot the region of stability within which the method is stable. Numerical results revealed this method to be efficient and very accurate, and especially suitable for orbital problems.

Objectives Body surface area (BSA) is one of the major parameters used in several medical fields. However, there are concerns raised about its usefulness, mostly due to the ambiguity of its estimation. Material and Methods Authors have conducted a voluntary study to investigate BSA distribution and estimation in a group of 179 adult people of various sex, age, and physique. Here, there is provided an extended analysis of the majority of known BSA formulas. Furthermore, it was supplement with a comparison with the authors' propositions of enhanced formulas coefficients for known formulas models as well as with new power models based on an increased number of anthropometric data. Results Introduction of the enhanced formulas coefficients cause a reduction of at least 30.5% in mean absolute error and 21.1% in maximum error in comparison with their known counterparts. Conclusions In the context of the analysis presented it can be stated that the development of a single universal body surface area formula, based on a small number of state variables, is not possible. Therefore, it is necessary and justified to search for new estimation models that allow for quick and accurate calculation of body surface area for the entire population, regardless of individual body variations. The new formulas presented are such an alternative, which achieves better results than the previously known methods.

Because 20:30-31 pulls together John’s themes of witness, faith, and signs so fully, it is best to regard this conclusion as a point of departure for analyzing of the phenomenon of faith and bearing witness to Jesus. W 1:19-28 John negatively testifies that he himself is not the eschatological king, Elijah, or the Mosaic pro-phet, but that one whose slave he was not worthy to be was already among them. In 1:29-34, he positively testifies that Jesus in the lamb, and he recognized his identity as Son of God (1:34) and Spirit-bringer (1:33) because the Spirit was on Jesus (1:32-33). The “next day” provides a transition to a new christological con-fession to John’s disciples. In view of Gospel’s penchant for double entendre, that the Baptist saw Jesus “coming” (ἐρχόμενον) to him (1:29) may suggest a narrative confirmation of the one “coming” (ἐρχόμενος) after John (1:27).

Opis:
The relation between extremal values of the error and the coefficients of its differential equations is one of the central problems of control systems in chemical industry, because extremal values of the error sometimes cause serious damages to the environment or to the system itself. Analytical formulae for the determination of these values are known only for the second-order systems. In this paper a method which permits to determine extremal values of the error in higher-order systems is proposed.

The paper presents empirical formulae for determination of dry and wet biomass of assimilation apparatus in Scots pine stands of western Poland. Analyzed equations were verified using relative percentage error. Influence of site conditions and different elements on accuracy of analyzed equations were also investigated.
