The paper describes the principles of building and working of new blade piston compressor. dynamic force analysis of assembly of crankshaft and first research results are also presented. The working principle of this compressor was patented by prof. W. Chomczyk. The piston, in shape of a blade, executes a pendulum movement in a circular cylinder. The two bulkheads with valves create four compression chambers for one piston. The compressor features compactness of construction and high efficiency. The lack of side thrust of the piston on cylinder surface is a major advantage of the construction. The lack of friction between crown and cylinder makes it possible to build an oil-free compressor. The strength calculation of chosen elements was executed in MES (Cosmos WORKS program). The acceleration of piston was a parameter which was optimized. The investigation of different tightening was conducted on a single-compression machine. The single compression machine was driven by pneumatic actuator having the task of imitation of piston movement during the compression cycle. The results of investigations of labyrinth seals are described in the paper. The compressor can find use in truck and bus aggregate drives. Paper present analysis of crank and crosshead mechanism 's kinematics, and dynamic loads, strength analysis of compressor components and construction of compressor.

The current study presents an analytical model for a MEMS cantilever based hybrid thermo- -piezoelectric micro actuator. The micro actuator structure consists of a unimorph type bending piezoelectric beam and a passive layer which uses the thermal bimorph principle. Primarily, under electrical and thermal loadings, the governing equations of motion are derived. After verification of the results, the deflection analysis of the micro actuator is performed. Moreover, the equivalent force at the actuator tip is obtained. To provide efficient optimization, the effects of the micro actuator geometrical and materials properties on the actuator tip deflection and force are investigated.

The aim of this article is to analyse the effectiveness of the process of strategic preparation assessed from the perspective of assessing the activities undertaken at the airport of Radom. The work was divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part, the basis for presenting knowledge is a critical review of the subject literature, aimed at refining the concept of strategic planning and its significance in various scientific concepts. In the empirical part a case study is presented: Radom Airport. The planning of aviation infrastructure development in Poland is planned. Its effectiveness, analysed from a system- and resource perspective on the basis of reports, shows that the success of the plan depends primarily on the environment, in particular on regional and central strategies. Internal actions are secondary.

The results of tests presented herein can have practical applications for the adjustment of rotary speed to ensure constant contact between the measuring sensor’s spindle tip and the crankshaft journal of a piston energy converter, whose roundness profile is being measured. Analytical considerations have been supported by the results of simulations as well as experimental tests. The research has also shown that an increase in rotary speed affects the obtained profile shape and the value of determined roundness deviation.

The paper presents results on whether and how the magnetic domain structure in maraging steel undergoes any change due to the aging process. It continues the works on application of correlation methods and fractal analysis into studies of magnetic properties of various steel alloys using Scanning Probe Microscopy. It is aimed at verifying the usefulness of the structure function for description of spatial changes in shape and orientation of magnetic domains, and the magnitude of magnetic stray field affected by the heat treatment. Obtained results suggest that despite vanishing magnetic tip-surface interaction, and hence vanishing magnetic stray field, magnetic domains remain nearly perfectly isotropic although randomly oriented. Similar to isotropic real surfaces, the fractal dimension of the magnetic domains turns out to be independent of the structural changes induced by the aging process, whereas the topothesy is found to vary within order of magnitude along with changes in the magnetic stray field. After all, obtained results lead to conclusion that the aging process leaves its fingerprints in the structure of the steel alloys, which can be studied using numerical analysis of images of magnetic interactions between vibrating tip and the stray field.

The paper presents results of a research on simulation of magnetic tip-surface interaction as a function of the lift height in the magnetic force microscopy. As expected, magnetic signal monotonically decays with increasing lift height, but the question aris es, whether or not optimal lift height eventually exists. To estimate such a lift height simple procedure is proposed in the paper based on the minimization of the fractal dimension of the averaged profile of the MFM signal. In this case, the fractal dimension ser ves as a measure of distortion of a pure tip-surface magnetic coupling by various side effects, e.g. thermal noise and contribution of topographic features. Obtained simulation results apparently agree with experimental data.

We present here the ECEPPAK (developed in the laboratory of prof. H.A. Scheraga, Cornell University) and ANALYZE packages for the conformational search of polypeptides that is based on the ECEPP/3 force field. The functions of the program include energy calculation and minimization and global conformational search using the Electrostatically Driven Monte Carlo (EDMC) method. The search can be constrained using experimental information e.g., the distance constraints from NMR measurements. The sister program, ANALYZE, allows the user to classify the conformations by means of cluster analysis and fit the statistical weights of the conformations to best fit the experimental observables. The package is extensively parallelized, which allows the user to carry out the conformational search even of comparatively large polypeptides in real time.

A self-excited system wit h unilateral friction contact modelled by a two degrees-of-freedom mechanical system, where the normaI farce varies during displacement of a block has been studied. The constructed real laboratory rig approximates the investigated system, and it includes feedback reinforcement of the friction force acting on the vibrated block. Some methods of data acquisition and data handling procedures are proposed for experimentally observed results and data collection. A novel static friction force model for both positive and negative velocities of the base is proposed.
Analizie poddany jest układ samowzbudny z jednostronnym kontaktem ciernym, który zamodelowano jako układ mechaniczny o dwóch stopniach z tarciem oraz ze zmienną siłą nacisku wywieraną na podstawę podczas przemieszczenia się badanego ciała sztywnego. Skonstruowane stanowisko doświadczalne przybliża w pewnym stopniu rozważany układ i zawiera sprzężenie ruchu drgającego ciała z siłą normalną pochodzącą od nacisku. Zgodnie z obserwacjami eksperymentalnymi i dla zmierzonych sygnałów podano metody akwizycji danych oraz procedury ich obsługi. Zaproponowano nowy, statyczny model siły tarcia dla odpowiednich dodatnich i ujemnych prędkości przemieszczania się podstawy.

This paper aims to experimentally and numerically determine the longitudinal modulus of elasticity by the four-point bending method. Samples of wooden beams over which the experimental research was performed were made of silver fir (Abies alba) as prescribed by standard EN 408. The experimental part includes determining bending strength and deformation forces. Experimentally determined bending strength and deflection forces were the input data for evaluating the modulus of elasticity of wooden beams. A numerical analysis of the bending strength by the finite element method was carried out using the ANSYS software package. The numerical model agreed well with the experiments in terms of bending. A numerical model can predict the bending of beams of different sizes. Results showed that the experimental and numerical values are close and usable for further exploitation. Comparison between the experimental and computational force versus the displacement response showed a very good correlation in the results for the fir wood specimens under four-point bending tests.

In the Labour Force Survey (LFS) the interviewees are considered as employed, unemployed or professionally inactive based on “objective” criteria defined in the survey’s methodological assumptions (e.g. the fact that a person is seeking employment, waiting to start work or worked at least one hour in the reference week). In use since 1992, the above approach allows the classification to be unaffected by the respondents’ subjective feelings. Since 2006, LFS respondents have been also allowed to identify their economic activity status by themselves. The objective of this paper is to indicate and attempt to explain the differences between the results based on the identification of economic activity statuses as per the criteria adopted by the Central Statistical Office and the LFS respondents’ own assessment of their economic activity status. This paper assessed the rationale behind each approach and the implications thereof for the procedure and results of unemployment surveys from a static and dynamic perspective.

The paper aims was assessing risks of mandible fractures consequent to impacts or sport accidents. The role of the structural stiffness of mandible, related to disocclusion state, was evaluated using the finite element method. It has been assumed, that the quasi-static stress field, due to distributed forces developed during accidents, could explain the common types of mandibular fractures. Mandibular condyles were supposed jammed in the maxillary fossae. The force of 700 N, simulating an impact on mandible, has been sequentially applied in three distinct areas: centrally, at canine zone and at the mandibular angle. Clinically most frequent fractures of mandible were recognized through the analysis of maximal principal stress/strain fields. It has been shown that mandibular fracture during accidents can be analyzed at satisfactory level using linear quasi-static models for designing protections.

Objectives It is commonly known that ergonomics in emergency medical services (EMS) is very important. Emergency medical services workers are exposed to different conditions and they should perform a variety of tasks. Material and Methods The aim of the work has been to analyze the angular position of elbows and forces generated by the upper limbs during cardiopulmonary resuscitation with and without the CPRmeter based on feedback technology. Ten male paramedics and 10 male non-paramedics, in a kneeling position, performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an Ambu Megacode manikin placed on the ground. Measurements were taken after 1 min and 4 min following the beginning of the trial. The angular position of the elbows was evaluated with a BTS Smart DX 7000 motion capture system. Kistler platforms 9286BA were used for measuring forces. Results In the paramedic group, one statistically significant difference was observed in the mean difference between maximal and minimal right elbow angle in the 1st min without the device vs. the mean difference in the 4th min without the device. In the paramedic group, a 25% force decrease was observed after 4 min of resuscitation in trials without the CPRmeter in comparison to the 1st min. In trials with the CPRmeter, the force parameters were similar in the 1st and 4th min and more stable. No statistically significant differences were noticed in the control group. Conclusions The CPRmeter has influence on the magnitude of the forces applied by the upper limbs and on the optimization of the rescuer effort during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The CPRmeter had no influence on the position of the upper part of the kinematic chain. Int J Occup Med Environ Health 2017;30(6):909–916
