Opis:
Although personality characteristics have been conceptualized as influencing individuals’ propensity to forgive, the findings in this field are inconsistent and require further studies. The five-factor model has been explored most frequently, and personality traits, especially agreeableness and neuroticism, have been found to be related to forgiveness. This study investigated the relationships between five personality domains and different aspects of dispositional forgiveness, termed forgivingness, namely positive and negative dimensions of forgivingness of oneself, other people, and situations beyond anyone’s control. Data were collected from 153 adults aged from 20 to 55 years. The participants completed the NEO-FFI Personality Inventory and the Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS). Correlation and regression analyses were performed. The results demonstrated that personality traits explained variance in most HFS subscales. Neuroticism, agreeableness and extraversion were significant predictors of different dimensions of forgivingness. Neuroticism negatively predicted the overall level of forgivingness and overcoming unforgiveness of self, others, and situations. Extraversion along with neuroticism also negatively predicted total forgivingness as well as overcoming unforgiveness in general and towards others. Agreeableness was significantly related to positive forgivingness in general and towards others.

General Factor of Personality (GFP)
Five-Factor Model of Personality (FFM)
Opis:
The paper presents research on the validity of the General Factor of Personality (GFP), extracted on the basis of NEO-FFI scores. Analysis was based on data obtained in four groups consisting, in total, of 1906 participants (878 women and 1028 men aged from 18 to 66 years). Scores on Five-Factor Model (FFM) scales and GFP scores were analyzed against 15 selected criterion variables: the intensity of PTSD symptoms, schizotypal personality symptoms, general self-efficacy, conflict management styles (integrating, dominating, avoiding, compromising, obliging), and behavioral risk factors of somatic diseases (CND and cancer): Type A, Type 1, Type 2, and Type 4 personality as well as depressiveness, hostility, and submissiveness. The results indicated the structural weakness of the GFP (low reliability, unacceptable fit of the one-factor model to the structure of NEOFFI scales) and a high diversity of GFP validity. Comparative analysis of criterion variables for which both FFM and GFP scores had high validity with cases of variables showing high validity of FFM scores and low validity of the GFP allowed to identify the causes of the diversity of GFP validity. It is a result of low intercorrelations among FFM scales, which frequently creates differences between the pattern of intercorrelations of FFM scales and the pattern of their correlations with criterion variables. In the discussion the limited theoretical and empirical meaning of the GFP was underlined, especially when compared to the general g factor, used in research on intelligence, extracted from highly intercorrelated ability tests or even personality scales, which are based on highly correlated lower level subdimensions.

Opis:
The present study focused on relationships between personality traits, self-efficacy, self-esteem and basic trust, and well-being in context of entrepreneurial activity. Participants were 301 unemployed people, 157 of whom had received a grant from an employment agency to start their own business. Participants completed measures of personality traits, self-efficacy, self-esteem, basic trust, satisfaction with life, positive and negative affect. To verify if beliefs about the self and about the world mediated relationships between personality traits and well-being we conducted a multiple-sample SEM. The study results confirm that the beliefs mediate relationships between personality traits and well-being. They also show that different types of beliefs serve a different function, depending on an individual’s circumstances. Among grant acceptors, self-efficacy did not impact well-being, while self-esteem and basic trust had similar functions in both groups.

Opis:
The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between positive orientation (PO) defined as a basic predisposition to perceive and evaluate positive aspects of life, the future and oneself and the Five-Factor Model of personality (FFM). Hypotheses postulated positive correlations between PO and extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness and openness; a negative correlation was predicted between PO and neuroticism. Two hundred Polish students completed the following measures: SES (Self-Esteem Scale, Rosenberg), SWLS (The Satisfaction with Life Scale; Diener, Emmons, Larson & Griffin), LOT-R (The Life Orientation Test - Revised; Scheier, Carver & Bridges) and NEOFFI (NEO Five Factor Inventory, Costa & McCrae). The results confirmed correlations between PO and extraversion, conscientiousness, and neuroticism; correlations with openness and agreeableness were not supported. According to canonical correlations, PO shows a clear affinity to the FFM.

Opis:
The fifth edition of the DSM diagnostic manual has presented a hybrid system of personality disorder diagnosis, which integrates categorical and dimensional approach to diagnosis, building a kind of bridge between psychiatric classifications of disorders and psychological research on the structure of normal personality. The key element of this system is a new dimensional model of pathological personality traits. This article presents the results of the empirical verification of this model in Poland. The participants in the study were 754 individuals from the nonclinical population, aged 16–86 (M = 36.45, SD = 16.65), including 52% women. Normal personality traits were measured by means of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R), and pathological personality traits – by means of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5); the risk of personality disorders was determined on the basis of SCID-II (Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II) questionnaire scores. The obtained results proved to be consistent with the expectations: (1) on the level of the five broad traits, the pathological DSM-5 model strongly corresponds to the Five-Factor Model of normal personality; (2) the DSM-5 model predicts the categories of disorders better than the Five-Factor Model does.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of personality traits of individuals on organizational silence in the context of its four forms, discussed in prevailing angles taken in relevant literature. Respondents’ personality traits are differentiated according to the five 8 factor model of personality (the Big Five). Design/methodology/approach: The empirical material was obtained through a survey by means of a questionnaire with 47 questions (including questions about discriminatory behaviour, forms of organizational silence and respondents’ personality traits). The survey was conducted in 2021 in the West Pomeranian province, Poland. 426 questionnaires were analysed. Findings: There are statistically significant correlations (overall, positively-oriented) for acquiescent silence with results of self-assessment of respondents’ personality traits in the domain of extraversion, conscientiousness and openness to experience, while for defensive silence – in the domain of extraversion, neuroticism (exceptionally - negative correlation) and openness to experience. Research limitations/implications: The analysis is based on respondents’ subjective declarations. Intensification of respondents’ personality traits is examined on the basis of self 20 assessment, which may limit the pre-editorial capacity of the measuring tool. Practical implications: The study presents individual descriptions of personalities which determine the differentiated behaviours relating to organizational silence. This knowledge may be used in the context of managerial actions for breaking silence. Originality/value: This research may be considered pioneering in the Polish literature, while such investigations in international writings are rare and conducted in a different typological configuration.

W pracy wykorzystano metodę analizy zawartości baz danych – do zebrania i przeanalizowania literatury przedmiotu. Skupiono się na zasobach udostępnianych przez dr. Kosińskiego poprzez prywatną stronę internetową – https://www.michalkosinski.com Dodatkowo wykorzystano techniki związane z data miningiem, aby w podsumowaniu móc przedstawić archiwalne treści publikowane na stronie internetowej firmy Cambridge Analytica. Zasięg chronologiczny odszukiwanych materiałów piśmienniczych zawężono do okresu od 2011 r. do pierwszego kwartału 2021 r., skupiając się głównie na latach 2013–2021, czyli od roku opublikowania artykułu Private traits and attributes are predictable from digital records of human behavior do roku publikacji tekstu Facial recognition technology can expose political orientation from naturalistic facial images. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane prace dr.
According to data from Internet Live Stats, in April 2021, about 92,000 queries were made, every second, in the Google search engine. Each activity performed by users of digital devices is indexed as so-called digital footprints [also called digital traces], thanks to which it is possible, using appropriate technologies and methods, to precisely define personality traits, political views and sexual orientations of these users. The article was inspired by the works of PhD Michał Kosiński and describes the issues related to analyzing digital traces of Internet users (mainly social media). The main aim of the article is to present the research by PhD Michał Kosiński and to draw the attention of the IT community to the issues related to analyzing the digital traces of Internet users. This work is of a popularizing nature and does not constitute a comprehensive description of the achievements of the indicated scientist. The article does not present new information or own research – however, it is intended to encourage recipients to analyze the literature on the subject of analyzing digital traces and privacy in the digital age. The work uses the method of database content analysis – to collect and analyze the literature on the subject. The focus was on the resources made available by PhD Kosinski through his private website – https://www.michalkosinski.com Additionally, datamining techniques were used to summarize the archival content published on the Cambridge Analytica website. The chronological range of the searched writing materials was narrowed from 2011 to the first quarter of 2021, focusing mainly on the years 2013–2021, i.e. from the year of publishing the article Private traits and attributes are predictable from digital records of human behavior until the year of publication of the text Facial recognition technology can expose political orientation from naturalistic facial images. The article presents selected works by PhD Michał Kosiński, which constitute "milestones" in research on determining the personality of Internet users within the publication of the indicated author. Consequently, the article does not present the works that described part of the research or contributed to taking larger, further measurements.

Opis:
The aim of the paper was to characterize personality disorders in terms of the dimensions of the Circumplex of Personality Metatraits (CPM) developed by Strus, Cieciuch, and Rowiński. It was expected that personality disorders characterized by the profiles of traits from the five-factor model of personality (FFM) would be located in the sector delimited by poles Gamma- and Delta- and including pole Alfa-. The author analyzed data collected in a sample of 2,284 subjects tested by means of the NEO-FFI and three other instruments: the Personality Beliefs Questionnaire, the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II Disorders (SCID-II), and the TALEIA-400A questionnaire (Test for AxiaL Evaluation and Interview for Clinical, Personnel, and Guidance Applications) for the assessment of personality disorders as well as compared them with the data from the meta-analysis by Saulsman and Page (2004) concerning the relations between personality disorders and FFM traits. The obtained correlations confirmed the research expectations. In Discussion, the author points out the heuristic value of the CPM for differentiating the norm from pathologies, which includes the differential diagnosis of personality disorders.
