Opis:
This paper describes a Fuzzy Logic approach to Shunt Active power filter (SAPF) versus Hybrid Active Power Filter (HAPF) using Simulink. Here hysteresis controlled PWM method is applied to the SAPF and HAPF as a current controller and Fuzzy logic controller as a inverter dc voltage controller. To reduce harmonics, Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPFs) are used with various control schemes, but Hybrid Active power filter is a power electronic device which has both the characteristics of passive power filters and active power filters, which helps in cancelation of the harmonics by producing compensating signal. The fuzzy-hysteresis controller is designed and its simulation results are presented for both the filter types, showing acceptable THD results for the word length used in the fixed-point computations involved in the switching sequence generation. The results of the above controller are compared with the Indirect current controller.

Opis:
Indoor activities involving cooking and warming, outdoor sources, smoking, and candle and in-cense burning may introduce a massive portion of polycyclic fragrant hydrocarbons. These are well known for their mutagenicity and carcinogenicity and are omnipresent in urban situations as a result of the combustion of fuel. Due to small particle size, penetration has been suspected to be one major source of indoor polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. In the current study, the manufacturing of three types of filters (electrostatic charge-based, pomegranate peel biochar-based, and birds’ feathers-based) was carried out. Their efficiency was tested to remove molecules bounded PAHs and also other geno-toxic compounds associated with these particles. The electrostatic filter was more efficient (27.42%) than pomegranate peel-based and birds’ feathers-based filters (13.86% and 8.32%, respectively). The carcinogenetic effects of PAHs emitted from outdoor and indoor pollutants can be reduced using these kinds of filters.

The paper describes a novel online identification algorithm for a two-mass drive system. The multi-layer extended Kalman Filter (MKF) is proposed in the paper. The proposed estimator has two layers. In the first one, three single extended Kalman filters (EKF) are placed. In the second layer, based on the incoming signals from the first layer, the final states and parameters of the two-mass system are calculated. In the considered drive system, the stiffness coefficient of the elastic shaft and the time constant of the load machine is estimated. To improve the quality of estimated states, an additional system based on II types of fuzzy sets is proposed. The application of fuzzy MKF allows for a shorter identification time, as well as improves the accuracy of estimated parameters. The identified parameters of the two-mass system are used to calculate the coefficients of the implemented control structure. Theoretical considerations are supported by simulations and experimental tests.

In time series analysis, signal processing, and financial analysis, simple moving average (SMA), weighted moving average (WMA), exponential moving average (EMA), exponential weighted moving average (EWMA), and Kalman filter are widely used methods. Each method has its own strengths and weaknesses, and the choice of method depends on the specific application and data characteristics. It is important for researchers and practitionersto understand the properties and limitations of these methods in order to make informed decisions when analyzing time seriesdata. This study investigates the effectiveness of time series analysis methods using data modeled with a known exponential function with overlaid random noise. This approach allows for control of the underlying trend in the data while introducing the variability characteristic of real-world data. The relationships were written using scripts for the construction of dependencies, and graphical interpretation of the results is provided.
W analizie szeregów czasowych, przetwarzaniu sygnałów i analizie finansowej szeroko stosowane są: prosta średnia ruchoma (SMA), ważona średnia ruchoma (WMA), wykładnicza średniaruchoma (EMA), wykładniczo-ważona średnia ruchoma (EWMA) i filtr Kalmana. Każda z metod ma swoje mocne i słabe strony, a wybór metody zależy od konkretnego zastosowania i charakterystyki danych. Dla badaczyi praktyków ważne jest zrozumienie właściwości i ograniczeń tych metod w celu podejmowania świadomych decyzji podczas analizy danych szeregów czasowych. W niniejszej pracy zbadano skuteczność metod analizy szeregów czasowych z wykorzystaniem danych modelowanych znaną funkcją wykładniczą z nałożonym szumem losowym. Takie podejście pozwala na kontrolowanie głównego trendu w danych przy jednoczesnym wprowadzeniu zmienności typowej dla danych rzeczywistych. Do budowy zależności zostały napisane skrypty. Podanajest graficzna interpretacja wyników.

The three-phase induction motor is well suited for a wide range of mobile drives, specifically for electric vehicle powertrain. During the entire life cycle of the electric motor, some types of failures can occur, with stator winding failure being the most common. The impact of this failure must be considered from the incipient as it can affect the performance of the motor, especially for electrically powered vehicle application. In this paper, the intern turn short circuit of the stator winding was studied using Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and Shor-Time Fourier transform (STFT) approaches. The residuals current between the estimated currents provided by the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the actual ones are used for fault diagnosis and identification. Through FFT, the residual spectrum is sensitive to faults and gives the extraction of inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) related frequencies in the phase winding. In addition, the FFT is used to obtain information about when and where the ITSC appears in the phase winding. Indeed, the results allow to know the faulty phase, to estimate the fault rate and the fault occurrence frequency as well as their appearance time.

This paper aims to present a robust fault diagnosis structure-based observers for actuator faults in the pitch part system of the wind turbine benchmark. In this work, two linear estimators have been proposed and investigated: the Kalman filter and the Luenberger estimator for observing the output states of the pitch system in order to generate the appropriate residual between the measured positions of blades and the estimated values. An inference step as a decision block is employed to decide the existence of faults in the process, and to classify the detected faults using a predetermined threshold defined by upper and lower limits. All actuator faults in the pitch system of the horizontal wind turbine benchmark are studied and investigated. The obtained simulation results show the ability of the proposed diagnosis system to determine effectively the occurred faults in the pitch system. Estimation of the output variables is effectively realized in both situations: without and with the occurrence of faults in the studied process. A comparison between the two used observers is demonstrated.

The paper deals with the development of a new method for the generation of binary fingerprints based on the Savitzky-Golay (SG) algorithm and first-order derivatives of FTIR spectra, which are then used to create prediction models for selected the physicochemical properties of chemical compounds. Models based on the FEDS (Functionally- Enhanced Derivative Spectroscopy) transformation and raw spectra were used as a reference to determine whether the use of the SG filter and first-order derivatives was worth to further develop. The FTIR spectra of 103 compounds with theoretically determined values of logP, logD and logS were studied. The Tanimoto coefficient and correlation coefficient were used to compare the fingerprints obtained, while the root mean square error (RMSE) was used to assess the quality of the prediction models. Based on the results, it was found that the use of the SG filter and derivatives had a positive effect on the quality of the prediction models for logP and logS, and a negative effect on the quality of the models for logD, compared to the models based on original spectra and FEDS transformation.

The knowledge about nanoaerosols, their potential health effects, their measurement, limitation and administrative-legal treatment has been developed in the last 3 decades in connection with the exhaust gas cleaning of the combustion engines. Nanofiltration, which has thus become known, almost completely eliminates nanoparticles with filters of high durability, high specific filtration areas, and reasonable costs. On the occasion of the Covid pandemic, NanoCleanAir experimentally proved that the viruses in an automotive filter substrate are separated as well as the combustion particles and are also deactivated. To minimize cross exchange of infectious aerosol, new attention must be paid to flow management in ventilated spaces. Digitized flow analysis has also received significant inspiration from engine technology in the past. This paper provides information on some basic investigations and gives valuable advice based on the experimental and numerical results of a retrofitted classroom.

Particle Filters (PF) accomplish nonlinear system estimation and have received high interest from numerous engineering domains over the past decade. The main problem of PF is to degenerate over time due to the loss of particle diversity. One of the essential causes of losing particle diversity is sample impoverishment (most of particle’s weights are insignificant) which affects the result from the particle depletion in the resampling stage and unsuitable prior information of process and measurement noise. To address this problem, a new Adaptive Fuzzy Particle Filter (AFPF) is used to improve the precision and efficiency of the state estimation results. The error in AFPF state is avoided from diverging by using Fuzzy logic. This method is called tuning weighting factor (α) as output membership function of fuzzy logic and input memberships function is the mean and the covariance of residual error. When the motion model is noisier than measurement, the performance of the proposed method (AFPF) is compared with the standard method (PF) at various particles number. The performance of the proposed method can be compared by keeping the noise level acceptable and convergence of the particle will be measured by the standard deviation. The simulation experiment findings are discussed and evaluated.
Adaptacyjny filtr cząstek rozmytych (AFPF) służy do poprawy precyzji i wydajności wyników szacowania stanu. Metoda ta nazywana jest dostrajaniem współczynnika ważenia (α), ponieważ wyjściowa funkcja przynależności logiki rozmytej, a wejściowa funkcja przynależności jest średnią i kowariancją błędu resztowego. Wydajność proponowanej metody jest porównywana przez utrzymanie dopuszczalnego poziomu hałasu, a zbieżność cząstki będzie mierzona przez odchylenie standardowe. Wyniki eksperymentu symulacyjnego są omawiane i oceniane.

This paper presents a novel systolic two-dimensional (2D) block finite impulse response(FIR) filter architecture using a distributed arithmetic (DA)-based multiplexer look-uptable (DA-MUX-LUT). The proposed DA-MUX-LUT architecture computes the instan-taneous partial-product using the bit vector. The switching-based LUT replaces memory-based structures and reduces hardware complexity. Block processing allows memory reuse,which reduces the number of registers to store the previous input samples. Parallel addersare substituted by a modified carry look-ahead adder (MCLA), which minimizes the delay.Moreover, a resource-sharing concept is introduced to the DA-MUX-LUT block that drastically reduces the adder requirement. The application specific integrated circuit (ASIC)synthesis results show that the proposed DA-MUX-LUT-based 2-D block FIR filter forfilter size 8x8 and block size 4 has 31.22% less delay, 28.66% less area-delay product(ADP), 37.70% less power-delay product (PDP), and occupies almost the same area thanthe existing architecture.

The use of multicellular topology in power quality enhancement can reduce the power loss and also dv/dt of power switches, minimize the electromagnetic interference. However, the failure of flying capacitors can reduce the active filtering efficiency and affect the power quality by injecting currents with wave-form distortion (harmonics, notching, noises etc.) in power distribution grid. Therefore, this study presents a faulttolerant control strategy (FTC) allowing to keep the normal operation conditions of a multicellular converter even under failure mode. The obtained results show that the proposed FTC strategy enhances the power quality of power distribution grid when a fault in flying capacitors occurs.

Opis:
The Sahara’s Nememcha mountains chain suffers from a significant lack of large-scale geological information. In the Bir Later region with complex morpho-structural settings and arid climate conditions; geological maps have not been yet completed by competent authorities. However, this region harbours Algeria’s largest phosphate mine; with its reserves estimated at more than one billion tons of ore grading 20% phosphorus pentoxide. Geomatic-based techniques of Multisource Remote Sensing data allow the classification and identification of the lithologic features. The adopted method quarries the spectral signal, the alteration processes, and the thickness of the rocky banks. For this task, we apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF), directional filters, and unsupervised classification (K-Means data) techniques to calibrate and correct Landsat 8 OLI and Sentinel-2A multispectral images. A petrographic study with field and laboratory work was carried out in order to confirm the machine description of the different facies. The results showed that the proposed lithology classification scheme can achieve accurate classification of all lithologic types, in the Cenozoic, Mesozoic, and Holocene deposits of the study area. The lithological map obtained from the GIS-RS-Processing is highly correlated with our field survey. Therefore, multispectral image data (Landsat 8 OLI and Sentinel-2A) coupled with an advanced image enhancement technique and field surveys are recommended as a rapid and cost-effective tool for lithologic discrimination and mapping. The experimental results fully demonstrated the advantages of the reliance on laboratory tests in the sensed lithology validation in an arid area.

This paper deals with the problem of joint state and unknown input estimation for stochastic discrete-time linear systems subject to intermittent unknown inputs on measurements. A Kalman filter approach is proposed for state prediction and intermittent unknown input reconstruction. The filter design is based on the minimization of the trace of the state estimation error covariance matrix under the constraint that the state prediction error is decoupled from active unknown inputs corrupting measurements at the current time. When the system is not strongly detectable, a sufficient stochastic stability condition on the mathematical expectation of the random state prediction errors covariance matrix is established in the case where the arrival binary sequences of unknown inputs follow independent random Bernoulli processes. When the intermittent unknown inputs on measurements represent intermittent observations, an illustrative example shows that the proposed filter corresponds to a Kalman filter with intermittent observations having the ability to generate a minimum variance unbiased prediction of measurement losses.

Opis:
Engine emissions can be reduced by performing suitable modifications to the oil filter. Biomass medium served as the replacement for the standard paper fibres, which are used in common oil filters. The experimental analysis of 4 emission elements showed a moderate increase in the case of 2 emission characteristics, whereby a 10% increase in monoxide was present, and also, an increase of 2.5% of nitrogen oxides was observed. Further, there was a significant reduction of 2 other emission elements, namely the unburned hydrocarbons decreased by 61%, and the amount of particulate matter was reduced by 18%. Measured engine power increased by 1.2% using the modified oil filter, which proves the success of this filter. There was a decrease in oil pressure as well, the value dropped by 0.5 bar during the whole period of the measuring process.
