Opis:
Constraint programming is a powerful software technology for solving numerous real-life problems. Many of these problems can be modeled as Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs) and solved using constraint programming techniques. However, solving a CSP is NP-complete so filtering techniques to reduce the search space are still necessary. Arcconsistency algorithms are widely used to prune the search space. The concept of arc-consistency is bidirectional, i.e., it must be ensured in both directions of the constraint (direct and inverse constraints). Two of the most well-known and frequently used arc-consistency algorithms for filtering CSPs are AC3 and AC4. These algorithms repeatedly carry out revisions and require support checks for identifying and deleting all unsupported values from the domains. Nevertheless, many revisions are ineffective, i.e., they cannot delete any value and consume a lot of checks and time. In this paper, we present AC4-OP, an optimized version of AC4 that manages the binary and non-normalized constraints in only one direction, storing the inverse founded supports for their later evaluation. Thus, it reduces the propagation phase avoiding unnecessary or ineffective checking. The use of AC4-OP reduces the number of constraint checks by 50% while pruning the same search space as AC4. The evaluation section shows the improvement of AC4-OP over AC4, AC6 and AC7 in random and non-normalized instances.

Opis:
This paper focuses on the identification of a road profile disturbance acting on vehicles. Vehicles are subjected to many kinds of excitation sources such as road profile irregularities, which constitute a major area of interest when designing suspension systems. Indeed, determining the road profile is important for passive suspension design on the one hand and for determining an appropriate control law for active suspensions on the other. Direct measurement techniques of the road profile are expensive, so solutions based on estimation theory are needed. The aim of this paper is to characterize the road excitation using the Independent Component Analysis (ICA). This proposed method can reconstruct original excitation sources by using physically measurable signals of the system under study. Here, the estimation of road disturbances is considered as output sources and identified from dynamic responses of the vehicle. These responses can be measured via sensors or can be numerically computed. In our case, they are numerically simulated using the Newmark method and consider different types of road profiles. The obtained results are validated after using a comparison with the Kalman filtering. The robustness of the ICA is confirmed via parametric study.

Opis:
Performance of the face verification system depend on many conditions. One of the most problematic is varying illumination condition. In this paper 14 normalization algorithms based on histogram normalization, illumination properties and the human perception theory were compared using 3 verification methods. The results obtained from the experiments showed that the illumination preprocessing methods significantly improves the verification rate and it's a very important step in face verification system.
