Introduction: One group of the practicing Far East martial arts is older seniors karate fighters over 35 years of age. The values they present differ from those of the entrants to the art. The goal of the paper is to obtain knowledge on the values presented by older seniors karate fighters. Method: The study was conduced on 10 males between 35 – 59 years of age with 23 – 30 years of karate training experience. All of them hold black belts (1 - 6 Dan). The study was carried out based on a diagnostic survey with and open - ended questionnaire. Results: The subjects of the study accept values connected with positive traits of charac ter (34 p ositive answers) and positive personal interactions (33 positive answers). Further, there are philosophical (mentioned 7 times), fitness (5 positive answers), health, and sport aspects (3 times) of karate. The less acceptable values refer to the aesthetic aspects of karate and to the cultural ones, as well as to the employment opportunities for employment. Discussion: The older seniors karate fighters prefer the positive characteristics such as relaxation of mind, courage, consciousness, will power, compo sure and consistence in action. Almost equally, they accept positive personal interactions, especially integrity, truthfulness. Here, the participants noted negative interactions in their environment. As an art, karate contains aesthetic aspects and also provides opportunity for learning about the culture of the Far Eats. Karate may also be a way of making a living. According to the older seniors karate fighters, karate is their way of life, part of their personality and the values carried by karate are p resent in many aspects of their lives.

Opis:
The Su-22 fighter-bomber is a military aircraft used in the Polish Air Force (PLAF) since the mid 1980’s. By decision of the Ministry of National Defence Republic of Poland, the assumed service life for this type of aircraft was prolonged up to 3200 flight hours based on the Full Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT) results. The FSFT was conducted using the real load profile defined during the Operational Load Monitoring Program (OLM) and the 3200 hour service life was also based on this load profile. In order to assure safe operation of all the 18 Su-22 aircraft, the Individual Aircraft Tracking program was introduced. The program was based on the results of the FSFT as well as the analysis of the flight parameters recorded by the THETYS onboard flight recorder. In this paper, the authors present the methodology, assumed fatigue hypothesis and preliminary results of the IAT program for the Polish Su-22.

The Su-22 fighter-bomber is a military aircraft used in the Polish Air Force since the mid 1980’s. By the decision of the Polish Ministry of Defense the predicted service life for this type of aircraft will be extended to 3200 flight hours. Due to the fact that some aircraft were nearing the end of the service life guaranteed by the manufacturer, the actual service life, determined based on the flight profile in the Polish Air Force, had to be validated. Consequently, the Full Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT) had to be carried out in order to verify that the required service life was attainable. This article describes the process of preparation of the load spectra used in the Su-22 FSFT. Due to the fact that the Su-22 has a variable sweep wing the whole test was divided into three Stages (landing, flight and flap loads) carried out at different wing sweep angles (30°/45°/30°). The spectra were developed using the historical data gathered from Flight Data Recorders (FDR), strain signals acquired during the Operational Load Monitoring program (OLM) and aerodynamic calculations.

Background The work of members of rescue teams could be associated with very high physical and thermal loads. If not timely interrupted, any extreme labour-thermal load may lead to a failure of the body and fatal collapse. This risk may be significantly reduced by devices that monitor the response of the body during the intervention and inform rescuers about the need to interrupt the exposure when the critical value of the reference indicator is achieved. The aim of the study was to test the correlation between the data of the newly developed device for signaling the strain of rescuers and the indicators of physiological response of the body. Material and Methods The tests were performed on 2 physically fit fire fighters dressed in a protective rescue suit and using insulating breathing apparatus, over a wide range of heat load under a model load on a bicycle ergometer in a climatic chamber. Results The study provided a significant correlation between the body temperature measured in the ear canal and the temperature under the suit sensed by the tested device – the Safety Ambient Monitor (SAM) (R = 0.9007). The temperature under the suit also correlated with the temperature of the chest skin (R = 0.8928) and heart rate (R = 0.8613). Conclusions A statistically significant correlation was proven between the temperature sensed by the SAM and the body temperature. The technical solution of sensing the temperature under the suit using the verified SAM technology does not affect or limit fire fighters in their work and minimizes the possibility of damage to the sensor and signaling failures. The main goal of the paper is to analyze the current state of the combat aircraft in the Polish Air Forces, and on that account draw a conclusion regarding the potential need of purchasing a new multirole fighter in order to increase the national air defense capability. The first section of the article is dedicated to a thorough description of the aircraft that constitute today the Polish Air Forces, i.e. the SU-22 “Fitter”, MiG-29 “Fulcrum”, and F-16 “Fighting Falcon”. Advantages and disadvantages of each aircraft are presented and discussed. The article is concluded with the statement that for the sake of the Polish airspace and overall security the country has to invest and acquire a new modern multi-purpose aircraft capable of performing a full range of combat missions.

The objective of the research presented in this paper was to determine the honeycomb core compliance of a sandwich structure of the horizontal stabilizer of the MiG-29 fighter jet in the static compression test. The study of the specimen was conducted based on the ASTM C365/C365M standard. The article presents the results of experimentally determined dependencies and strength parameters, i.e. the force-displacement dependence, the compressive modulus and the honeycomb core deformations.
