Opis:
Among the numerous solutions developed to improve the voltage handling capability of superjunction power devices, the Deep Trench Termination (DT2) is the most adapted thanks to its lower cost and size compared to other technologies using the multiple epitaxy technique, and an easier implementation in the fabrication process. This paper presents the optimization of the Deep Trench Termination by means of TCAD 2D and 3D-simulations allowing the realization of deep trench superjunction devices (diodes and MOS transistors) for 1200 V applications. The work is focused on the influence of the dielectric passivation layer thickness and the field plate length on the breakdown voltage of a DT-SJDiode.

Opis:
The Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the Polish Platform reflects repeated changes in loading conditions at the Alpine–Carpathian and Arctic–North Atlantic margins of the European continent. After the Late Creta ceous–Paleocene main phase of the Mid-Polish Basinin - version, a second phase of limited uplift of the Mid-Polish Swell occurred during the Middle–Late Eocene. End Eocene and Early Oligocene subsidence of narrow grabens on the Fore-Sudetic Monocline was coeval with normal faulting in the East Alpine foredeep basin and the development of the Central European rift system. At the same time the Outer Carpathian flysch basins were rearranged, presumably in response to the build-up of compressional stresses at crustal levels, whilst subsidence and erosion patterns changed in the Carpathian Foreland from being dominated by the NW–SE trending Mid-Polish Swell to being controlled by the development of the W–E trending Meta-Carpathian Swell. At the end of the Oligocene the Fore-Sudetic graben system propagated into the area of the Trans-European Suture Zone and the Sudetes and remained active during the Early and Middle Miocene. This was paralleled by intensified subduction activity and thrusting of the Carpathians and the development of their flexural foredeep basin. A short early Sarmatian episode of basement in volving transpression along the SW margin of the Mid-Polish Swell correlates with the termination of north-directed nappe transport in the Outer Carpathians. This was followed by eastward migration of the subsidence centre of the Carpathian Foredeep Basin and the gradual termination of tectonic activity in the grabens of the Polish Lowlands. After a period of post-orogenic relaxation the present-day compressional stress regime built up during the Pliocene and Quaternary. Intensified ridge push forces exerted on the Arctic–North Atlantic passive margins contribute to this compressional stress field that is dominated by collision-related stresses reflecting continued indentation of the Adriatic Block. This sequence of events is interpreted in terms of changing tectonic loads in the Carpathians, Alps and at the NW passive margin of Europe. The complex and diachronous interaction of mechanically coupled and uncoupled plates along collision zones probably underlies the temporally varying response of the Carpathian Foreland that in addition was complicated by the heterogeneous structure of its lithosphere. Progressively increasing ridge push on the passive margin played a secondary role in the stress differentiation of the study area.

Opis:
The effects of thermal radiation on a flow past an impulsively started infinite vertical plate in the presence of a magnetic field have been studied. The fluid considered is a gray, absorbing-emitting radiation but non-scattering medium. The dimensionless governing equations are solved by an efficient, more accurate, unconditionally stable and fast converging implicit scheme. The effects of velocity and temperature for different parameters such as the thermal radiation, magnetic field, Schmidt number, thermal Grashof number and mass Grashof number are studied. It is observed that the velocity decreases in the presence of thermal radiation or a magnetic field.

Opis:
The stability of thin plate plays an important role in the design and strength check of ship structure. In order to study the shear stability of ship’s thin plates, in-plane shear buckling tests were carried out using a picture frame fixture and a 3D full-field strain measurement system. The critical buckling load, full-field displacement/strain information, and load-displacement curve were obtained. The finite element model with the frame fixture was established based on ABAQUS, with the eigenvalue buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis being carried out to obtain the mechanical response information of the buckling and post-buckling of the ship’s thin plate. The effectiveness and accuracy of the numerical simulation method are verified by comparing the numerical simulation with the experimental results. On this basis, the critical buckling load obtained by shear test, numerical simulation, and theoretical calculation is analyzed, and the function of the frame shear fixture and its influence on the critical buckling load are defined. The research in this paper provides a useful reference for the testing and simulation of in-plane shear stability of ship’s thin plates.

Opis:
The subject of the paper is a rectangular plate. The structure of the plate issymmetrical. The plate is made of a cellular structure of a core and two external faces. There isferrofluid in each cell of the porous core. The core is made of polyethylene foam and two facesare polyurethane sheets. It is assumed that cells in the core are regular and dense and the facesare thin, therefore, a plate filled in with ferrofluid can be treated as homogeneous. The plateis placed in the magnetic field. The magnetic field is generated by two systems of coils – theHelmholtz coil (HC ) and the Golay coil (GC). The former generates an almost fixed magneticfield in the considered volume (where the plate is placed), and the latter generates a gradientmagnetic field. The changing size of each subsystem of magnetic field coils, the distribution andstrength of the magnetic field change as well. The magnetic field induces loads in the plate, both perpendicular and in plane. The plate bending function is approximated by the bicubicspline function presented by normalized B-spline functions. The influence of changes in thehomogeneity volume and the magnetic field strength (by changing the coil size) on the platebending is analyzed in the paper. The results of the analysis are presented in tables and figures.

An electro-magnetohydrodynamic (EMHD) two fluid flow and heat transfer of ionized gases through a horizontal channel surrounded by non-conducting plates in a rotating framework with Hall currents is investigated. The Hall effect is considered with an assumption that the gases are completely ionized and the strength of the applied transverse magnetic field is strong. The governing equations are solved analytically for the temperature and velocity distributions in two fluid flow regions. The numerical solutions are demonstrated graphically for various physical parameters such the Hartmann number, Hall parameter, rotation parameter, and so on. It was noticed that an increment is either due to the Hall parameter or the rotation parameter reduces the temperature in the two regions.

This discrepancy can be explained by the fact that in the analytical solution domain is unbounded, while the numerical calculation was carried out, obviously, for a finite field. The given stresses at the top of the notch along the arc of an ellipse or a parabola significantly increase with increasing of the relative depth of the notch (while increasing its depth or decreasing width).

Opis:
The effects of chemical reaction on a transient MHD mixed convection flow with mass transfer past an impulsively fixed infinite vertical plate under the influence of a transverse magnetic field have been presented. The medium is considered to be non-scattering and the fluid to be non-gray having emitting-absorbing and optically thick radiation limit properties. The dimensionless governing equations of the flow and mass transfer with boundary conditions are solved numerically by using the Ritz finite element method. The numerical results for the velocity, temperature and the concentration profiles as well as the skin-friction coefficient for different values of physical parameters such as the radiation parameter, magnetic parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter have been obtained and presented through graphs and tables. It has been found that there is a fall in the temperature and velocity for both air and water as the radiation parameter is increased. An increase in the Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter results a decrease in the concentration and velocity profiles for both air and water. Furthermore, an increase in the radiation parameter, magnetic parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter decreases the skin-friction.
