Adult catechesis should lead to deepening of their faith. This happens at the intellect level and the level of relationship (strong bond with God). The general goal is to get the answer to the question posed in the title: does a modern adult man need to be more careful about relationship or knowledge on the path of catechesis? Documents and theological reflection teach us: faith is the personal adherence of man to God. Thomas Aquinas said that faith is an act of intellect. To look for answers, it must be said that both these levels are equally important. Even more, both these realities must develop and grow in parallel. It is the only way for the proper and mature catechesis of adults.

Być może w naszym przekazie wiary zbyt często nie zauważamy istotowego związku między obu aspektami: fides qua i fides quae, koncentrując się w zależności od kontekstu czy sytuacji na jednym z nich. Istnieje wiele przesłanek, aby uznać za faktyczne, że tradycyjny przekaz wiary zbytnio skupił swoją uwagę na drugim elemencie, a mianowicie podając do wierzenia treści wiary w formie zwięzłych artykułów czy wypowiedzi katechizmowych, zakładał, że będą one w stanie wzbudzić w chrześcijanach jako odpowiedź akt osobowej wiary. Nie doceniono natomiast tego, co nazwalibyśmy źródłowym doświadczeniem wiary, które pochodzi bezpośrednio od osoby Ducha Świętego. Z drugiej strony można zaobserwować stanowisko odwrotne, sprowadzające wiarę do ujęcia fides qua. Coraz częściej bowiem wiarę definiuje się na zasadzie sądu intelektualnego, stwierdzającego, że Bóg istnieje, z pominięciem – objawionej przez Boga i podawanej przez Kościół – zawartości. W ten sposób powstaje coś, co można by określić „pozorem wiary”, sprowadzającej się ostatecznie – jako uwspółcześnionej postaci gnozy – do afirmacji własnych wyobrażeń o Bogu, czyli czegoś, co nie może zbawić człowieka.
This article presents the personal dimension of faith. In the Old Testament, faith is the secure trust in God’s promise and leadership with relation to the people of Israel. True faith is demonstrated in the form of personal responses (Abraham, Moses, the Prophets). In the New Testament, faith is a concept for the relationship between God and human beings on the basis of God’s saving activity for, in and through Jesus Christ. Faith is the personal, fundamental option in which a human being, through grace and trusting in God’s power, specifically in Jesus Christ, responds in consensus with the Church with his confession of the saving event of revelation. In contrast to its the colloquial meanings (belief as suppose, be of the well-founded conviction, agree with an authority, trust in something based on probability) faith in its personal meaning is an absolute assent based on the inner certainty. The author refers to the phenomenological studies of M. Scheler, who distinguishes between faith (der Glaube, fides qua) and belief (das Glauber, fides quae). Faith is the orientation, attitude on the real existence in the sphere of the absolute – there is burdened with a value sense. In absolute value, which is God, can be answered in the form of faith absolute (full-person). In metaphysical approach faith is shown as comprising the sphere of “seeing” and “hearing” – this integral approach protects it from making insulation to reason, to make it understands.

In the context of the upcoming celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and modern epistemological dilemmas of the present postmodernity, the author shall submit the question of the reality of ecumenical dialogue. How far, basing on the state of scientific knowledge concerning medieval Christendom, the University and the scholastic method, the influence of oriental Hellenistic culture on the education of the ideological foundations of modernity and based on new discoveries on Aquinas concept of theology and historical-critical method, the Churches of the ecumenical dialogue are able to verify the foundation of Martin Luther’s theological position and make real progress in theology? Are they able to make progress in ecumenical dialogue in the imperative of diagnosis of the theologian faith in the faith of the Church of Christ and the Church of the Holy Spirit?
W kontekście nadchodzących obchodów 500-lecia reformacji i współczesnych dylematów epistemologicznych obecnej postmoderności autor przedkłada kwestię realiów dialogu ekumenicznego. Na ile w oparciu o stan wiedzy naukowej dotyczącej mediewalnej Christianitas, Uniwersytetu i metody scholastycznej, wpływu orientalnej kultury hellenistycznej na wykształcenie się zrębów ideowych nowożytności oraz w oparciu nowe odkrycia w sprawie Akwinatowej koncepcji teologii i metody historyczno-krytycznej Kościoły dialogu ekumenicznego są w stanie zweryfikować fundacyjne stanowisko teologiczne Marcina Lutra i poczynić realny postęp teologiczny? Na ile są w stanie poczynić postęp w ekumenicznym dialogu w imperatywie rozpoznania wiary teologa w wierze Kościoła Chrystusa i Kościoła Ducha Świętego?

The content of the study are dilemmas connected with the denition of the act proposed by St. omas Acquinas. e attention was focused on its rst element, which is ordinatio. Acknowledging the denition of the canon law understood as ordination dei does not equal the passive role of reason in accepting it, since the act of faith remains the act of human reason, whose object is the truth accepted as such by virtue of God`s authority. e role of reason does not come down only to historical perception and shaping the demands of God`s law. e canon law, which is merely a human, legally binding way of passing on faith, is the token of this act, through which one accepts what was revealed by God and then expresses in norms as the truth. Ordinatio dei nds its place in the norm of faith (des qua) and its acceptance (des quae) and ordination rationis in the process of expressing it by means of a tool which is a normative act in the form of legal regulation. 
Treścią opracowania są dylematy związane z definicją ustawy zaproponowaną przez św. Tomasza z Akwinu. Uwaga została skoncentrowana wokół jej pierwszego elementu, jakim jest ordinatio. Przyjęcie definicji ustawy kanonicznej poznanej jako ordinatio fidei nie oznacza biernej roli rozumu w jej akceptacji, gdyż akt wiary pozostaje aktem ludzkiego rozumu, którego przedmiotem jest prawda uznana za taką mocą Boskiego autorytetu. Rola rozumu nie sprowadza się jedynie do historycznego ujmowania i kształtowania wymagań prawa Bożego. Ustawa kanoniczna, która jest jedynie ludzkim środkiem do przekazu wiary o prawnie zobowiązującym charakterze jest wyrazem tego aktu, poprzez który przyjmuje się za prawdę to, co zostało przez Boga objawione, a następnie w normy ujęte. Ordinatio fidei znajduje swoje miejsce w normie wiary (fides qua) i jej akceptacji (fides quae) a ordinatio rationis w procesie ujęcia jej za pomocą narzędzia jakim jest akt normatywny w postaci ustawy.

Ambrosiaster uses two forms for the definition of the concept of faith. The first one – in the sense of a noun: fides; the second one – from the perspective of the knowing subject: credere. Abraham’s act of faith, whose object is God, is shown as a cognitive model. The acceptance of God’s authority leads to recognizing in Christ the Son of God. Believers receive in Baptism the gift the Holy Spirit and knowing the will of God. By participating in the fullness of His life, they are given access to the Eucharist. Knowability is one of God’s characteristics. Accepting this fact and submitting oneself to God’s guidance results in knowing the Trinity. Christ’s confidence in the Father is the basic principle of knowing through faith, and this translates into absolute certainty of the truthfulness of the conclusions. It is a duty of believers to explore the truth. The Gospel, interpreted by the authority of the Church, remains the main source of revelation. The intensity of cognition influences the entirety of one’s life, manifests itself in the acceptance of all the truths of the faith and in creating harmony between faith and the virtues of love and hope.

The article is devoted to the objective and subjective conditions of religious faith. In Light of two encyclicals on faith: “Fides et ratio” by John Paul II and “Lumen fidei” by Francis, it talks about the subject and the act of faith. Both popes point to the truth (Godʼs revelation), which is the object of faith. John Paul II focuses on truth in the context of human knowledge, while Francis emphasizes the aspect of love of truth. The act of faith mainly concerns the role of reason in faith. Moreover, the benefits of the cooperation of reason and faith were indicated.
Artykuł jest poświęcony przedmiotowym i podmiotowym uwarunkowaniom wiary religijnej. Na podstawie dwóch encyklik o wierze: „Fides et ratio” Jana Pawła II oraz „Lumen fidei” Franciszka jest w nim mowa o przedmiocie oraz akcie wiary. Obaj papieże wskazują na prawdę (objawienie Boże), która stanowi przedmiot wiary. Jan Paweł II skupia się na prawdzie w kontekście ludzkiego poznania, natomiast Franciszek akcentuje aspekt miłości prawdy. W kwestii aktu wiary jest mowa głównie o roli rozumu w wierze. Ponadto wskazano korzyści płynące ze współpracy rozumu i wiary.

Adversus Nationes Arnobiusza jest apologią kontrowersyjną. Tym, co najbardziej może dziwić czytelnika dzieła, jest koncepcja stworzenia człowieka, nawiązująca do Platońskiego Timajosa, a także pogarda dla tego, co ludzkie: ciała, kondycji i duszy człowieka. Należy zaznaczyć, że zjawisko to było powszechne w kulturze tego okresu, osiągając ekstremum w nurcie gnostyckim. Zdaniem Arnobiusza rozum człowieka nie jest zdolny ująć rzeczywistości boskiej, a jednocześnie nie pozwala na praktykowanie bezsensownych, często krwawych, kultów. W artykule zamierzam przedstawić strategie apologetyczne Arnobiusza, zmierzające do zdyskredytowania bezmyślnej pobożności. Według Retora z Sicca Veneria postawa religijna pozbawiona rozumu jest tylko i wyłącznie przesądem. Arnobiusz w Adversus Nationes przygotował grunt dla wielowiekowej dyskusji dotyczącej kwestii fides et ratio.
Adversus Nationes by Arnobius is a controversial apologia. What may surprise the reader of Adversus Nationes the most is the concept of creating the man which alludes to Plato's Timaeus but also the contempt for all that is human – his body, his condition and his soul. It must be stressed, however, that such attitude was common in the culture of this time, reaching its peak in gnosticism. According to Arnobius, human mind is not capable of comprehending the nature of God and at the same time it does not allow to practice pointless, often bloody cults. This article attempts to show Arnobius's apologetic strategies, which aim at discrediting senseless piety. According the Rhetor of Sicca Veneria, religiousness without reason is nothing more but superstition. In Adversus Nationes Arnobius laid foundation for many centuries long debate on the question of fides et ratio.
