Jak podaje dr Colin Taylor w swoim co dwuletnim przeglądzie, nowe kraje wyprzedzają stare kolejowe potęgi (tab. 1 i 2).

    For centuries, it is known that people always prefer to accommodate in the region where there is good transportation network. Proper organization of transportation is one of the key elements which influence the dynamics of the World economics system development. Thanks to infrastructure modernization which allows to transfer the goods between engaged parties, it is possible to increase production and commonly to intense exploitation of areas located near this infrastructure among others in industry purposes. With regard to increasing demand for effective and efficient transportation system, there is a real need to improve communication and transportation infrastructure. A chance for this target shall be modern high technologies, which allows running with very high speed and thus also to reduce journey time. For this purpose there were established and is still developing relatively new product – high speed rail which is supposed to revolutionize modern transportation system functioning in the World. The article calls attention on a chance for improving competitiveness of rail freight transportation in Poland thanks to developing high speed rail network. There is underlined also rationality of modernization of the rail line which connect the biggest cities in South part of Poland. The descriptive part of the article refers to the high speed rail system and its development conditions. The research part is a technical feasibility study about section Cracow – Katowice – Wroclaw and possibilities for adopting it to achieve high speed rail line parameters.

    Transport is integral to every city, having a crucial impact on its functioning and development. As road infrastructure does not up to keep up to speed with the constantly growing numbers of vehicles on roads, new solutions are required. Fast urban railway systems are a solution that can reduce transport congestion, with environmental protection issues also taken into account. Following these reasons, the decision was made to build the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway (Szczecińska Kolej Metropolitalna, or SKM), consisting of four lines constructed using existing railway infrastructure, within the Szczecin Metropolitan Area (SMA). The construction works on the linear and point assets of the SKM are ongoing and will be concluded in 2022. Therefore, given the large impact of this project on the affected communities, the purpose of the present study was to analyze the expectations of the SMA population concerning the launch of the SKM via a large-scale questionnaire. For the purposes of the study, the following research hypothesis was defined: from the assessment of the affected residents, the introduction of the SKM will considerably improve the travel experience and greatly facilitate transit within the fast railway system’s area of impact. From the analysis of the questionnaire, it could be concluded that the introduction of the SKM will have a positive impact on the improvement of transport within the Szczecin area and shorten travel times significantly.

    A subject of deliberations is an effectiveness analysis of one of more essential subsystems of the city logistics, the fast suburban railway, an integral system components of the public transport. Examinations were based on surveys conducted amongst residents of the suburban zone of Cracow. Based on forecasts drawn up of passenger streams on three railway lines was drafted a profit and loss account and an evaluation of the economic-financial effectiveness stayed of examined investment.

    Opis:
    Sharp images ensure success in the object detection and recognition from state-of-art deep learning methods. When there is a fast relative motion between the camera and the object being imaged during exposure, it will necessarily result in blurred images. To deblur the images acquired under the camera motion for high-quality images, a deblurring approach with relatively simple calculation is proposed. An accurate estimation method of point spread function is firstly developed by performing the Fourier transform twice. Artifacts caused by image direct deconvolution are then reduced by predicting the image boundary region, and the deconvolution model is optimized by an α-confidence statistics algorithm based on the greyscale consistency of the image adjacent columns. The proposed deblurring approach is finally carried out on both the synthetic-blurred images and the real-scene images. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed image deblurring approach outperforms the existing methods for the images that are seriously blurred in direction motion.

    Szybka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (SKA) jest istotnym elementem obsługi transportowej Krakowa i województwa małopolskiego. Jej uruchomienie i ciągły rozwój istotnie wpłynęły na zmianę zachowań komunikacyjnych mieszkańców Małopolski. W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród pasażerów SKA oraz obserwacji parkingów Park and Ride przy stacjach i przystankach kolejowych. Na podstawie wyników badań ankietowych określono w jaki sposób i jak długo pasażerowie SKA docierają do przystanków początkowych, jaki środek transportu wykorzystywali przed uruchomieniem połączeń SKA oraz czy zmienili miejsce zamieszkania lub pracy wskutek pojawienia się nowej usługi. Najwięcej pasażerów SKA podróżuje do przystanku początkowego pieszo (około 40%), niezależnie od badanej linii. Ponad połowa ankietowanych dociera do przystanku początkowego w czasie krótszym niż 10 minut. Niemal 1/3 pasażerów już wcześniej podróżowała koleją. Pozostali zrezygnowali z samochodu osobowego (26,3%), prywatnych przewoźników (18,3%) lub komunikacji miejskiej w Krakowie (14,1%). Pojawiły się również podróże wcześniej niewykonywane. Zmiana środka transportu wskutek uruchomienia połączeń SKA jest uzależniona od badanej linii. W artykule oszacowano również zmniejszenie liczby pojazdów, które wjeżdżają do Krakowa oraz oszczędności czasów i kosztów podróży wskutek rezygnacji części pasażerów z samochodu osobowego na rzecz SKA.
    Suburban Railway (SKA) is an important element of Krakow and Małopolska region transport services. Its development changed inhabitants trip patterns significantly. In the article results of questionnaire survey among SKA passengers and observations of Park and Ride facilities at railway stations are presented. Based on survey results transport mode and access time to initial railway stops were analysed. Moreover transport modes used before SKA launching were identified. Additionally passengers were asked if they had changed place of living or working. Most passengers (around 40%) go to the railway station by foot. More than half of inquired passengers need less than 10 minutes to reach railway station. Almost one third of passengers were travelling by rail before SKA launching. Others have abandoned travelling by their own cars (26,3%), private public transport carriers (18,3%) or municipal public transport in Krakow (14,1%). There were also induced trips observed. Change of transport mode is dependent on the SKA line. As a result of the SKA development reduction of numbers of vehicles entering Krakow was estimated as well as reduction of travel time and travel cost of passengers who changed from the car to rail.

Omówione zostały zagadnienia związane z kategoryzacją pociągów pośpiesznych, wprowadzenia wagonów sypialnych, modernizację taboru, przyśpieszenie przejazdu m.in. dzięki trakcji spalinowej, powojenne sieci międzynarodowe TEE i EC, wreszcie ruch liniowo-równoodstępowy wprowadzony przede wszystkim w niektórych systemach krajowych.
    The subsequent text in the historical series is the outline of formation od basic elements of long-distance service. Included were: the institution of an express train, sleeping coaches, the technical progress in passenger rolling stock, speed increase i.a. thanks to diesel traction, post-war TEE and EC networks, rigid route-and-headway systems introduced mainly on national scale in some countries. What has been shown is e.g. that introduction of a fast train was usually, though not always, a process, that a sleeping coach, being an American specialty, also made quite an early appearance in Europe, that late steam traction on wide plains could have been faster than diesel and that train travel with time tends to gain more egalitarian forms.

    Opis:
    The study of the system composed of the inner disc and wheel rim of the 105Na type railway wheel, used in Polish Konstal streetcars, was aimed at determining the dynamic parameters of the object, such as the form and frequency of natural vibrations, and at evaluating the effectiveness of the method at given analysis settings. The experiment was conducted using triaxial piezoelectric transducers and a modal hammer with an aluminum head. A multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) testing approach was used because of the multiple excitation points and vibration measurements. A Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of the measurements was performed in BK Connect software and the frequency response function (FRF) value waveforms were determined. The Rational Fraction Polynomial-Z method was used to extract modes from the frequency spectrum. In addition, the Complex Mode Indicator Function method was used, which resulted in the decomposition of the principal components of the FRF value matrix, allowing the identification of individual modes. The selection of the natural frequencies was performed on the basis of the obtained FRF and CMIF characteristics of the vibroacoustic response. Visualization of the form of the natural vibration was also performed. The result of the experiment was a set of comprehensive information on the modal properties of the studied object, which allowed to confirm the effectiveness of the selected method of analysis.
