    Opis:
    The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of fare integration on the demand for public transport and the role of IT technologies and cash-free payments in this process. The paper presents the results of a critical literature review of studies conducted in this area so far. This approach enables the integration of theoretical and empirical findings, and perspectives of fragmented and interdisciplinary studies. Fare integration in cities is one of the factors that increase the demand for urban public transport services. This results from an improved image of public transport, easier promotion of services, more eligible passenger information, and easier use of services due to the uniform regulations and fares. In addition, for travelers, fare integration means cheaper services because they do not need to buy separate tickets corresponding to various organizers or carriers. The implementation of solutions from the field of fare integration is also related to costs; one can primarily mention the transaction costs and those related to the introduction of new solutions into the sales systems. The increase in the demand for public transport services due to the implementation of fare integration, results in external benefits that affect the sustainability of city transport systems and, thereby, justifies the funding of it by the public sector, which is accountable for ensuring efficient public transport.

    Władze lokalne i regionalne posiadają narzędzia, przy pomocy których mogą wspomagać integrację transportu miejskiego. Można wymienić tu: finansowanie transportu zbiorowego, ustanawianie taryfy oraz biletów w transporcie miejskim, rozwiązania instytucjonalne oraz inwestycje w infrastrukturę. W artykule przybliżono problem integracji taryfowo-biletowej. Integracja taryfowo-biletowa umożliwia pasażerom zakup jednego biletu, który obowiązuje w środkach transportu dwóch lub większej liczby przewoźników (organizatorów). Dodatkową korzyścią jest możliwość przemieszczania się na podstawie wspólnego biletu różnymi rodzajami środków transportu zbiorowego, np. autobusem regionalnym, koleją podmiejską, miejskim tramwajem czy metrem. Dzięki temu pasażerowie korzystający z usług komunikacji miejskiej nie muszą martwić się o znajomość taryf poszczególnych przewoźników, zakupu poszczególnych biletów czy też ich skasowanie. Działania w kierunku integracji mają za zadanie wzmocnić rolę transportu publicznego poprzez poprawę jakości przewozów oraz zwiększenie konkurencji względem transportu indywidualnego. Autorka przedstawia sposób funkcjonowania zintegrowanych biletów w czterech miastach Polski - Krakowie, Wrocławiu, Warszawie oraz Metropolii Zatoki Gdańskiej. Szczegółowo zaprezentowano wyniki badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego w aglomeracji łódzkiej mające na celu wprowadzenie zintegrowanego biletu na tym obszarze. Badania przeprowadzono na przełomie lipca i sierpnia 2011 roku. Pasażerów korzystających z komunikacji zbiorowej i kolei pytano o codzienne podróże na określonych trzech tra-sach, bilety z jakich korzystają oraz zainteresowanie wspólnym biletem. W wyniku działań integracyjnych na obszarze określonego regionu powinien powstać system transportu zbiorowego, który będzie uwzględniał przede wszystkim oczekiwania pasażerów.
    Local and regional authorities have instruments thanks which may support integration of urban transport. One can mention some of them: financing the public transport, establishing of the tariff and tickets in urban public transport, institutional solu-tions and infrastructure investment. In the article, the problem of tariff and ticket integration has been described. Tariff and farę integration enables to buy one ticket which is valid for two or morę carriers (organizers). Possibility to travel on the common ticket by various public transport means e.g. regional bus, commuter rail, tram or metro is an additional benefit. Thanks to that, passengers using public transport sendces do not have to take care about information on the tariffs of vari-ous carriers, purchase or punch few tickets. Integration activities are to strengthen the meaning of public transport by improving the quality of services and to increase competitiveness in relation to individual transport. The author presents the functioning of integrated fares in four Polish cities - Kraków, Wrocław, Warszawa and Gdańsk Bay Metropolis. Also the results of a survey conducted in Łódź agglomeration in order to implement an integrated ticket for that area have been presented. The study was carried out in late July and early August 2011. Passengers using public transport and railways were asked about daily travels on selected three routes, tickets they buy now and potential interest in a common ticket.

    Subject and purpose of work: Integrated fare to date is essential for the efficient functioning of city transport services and for the involvement of citizens to shift from private to public transport. Implementation of this kind is a necessary component of the future development of the city in the direction of smart mobility. Materials and methods: The research focuses on evaluating the barriers and challenges towards the implementation of an integrated fare in Ukraine, mainly using the city of Kyiv as a case study. Results: The article analyzes early attempts to introduce an integrated fare, problems in the way of implementation and, basically, the experience of the EU cities, which may later be adopted. Next, it outlines some critical aspects in the relationship between government policy, city authorities, transport operators and city residents in the context of the introduction of an integrated fare.     Kluczowym wyzwaniem dla Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowskiej Metropolii (GZM) jest stworzenie takiego systemu transportu zbiorowego, który spełni oczekiwania mieszkańców 41 gmin. Specyfiką metropolii jest – w przeciwieństwie do największych miast w Polsce – układ policentryczny. Dodatkowo metropolię otacza wiele gmin Subregionu Centralnego Województwa Śląskiego, które co prawda nie należą do GZM, ale ich mieszkańcy codziennie podróżują po jej obszarze do pracy, szkół lub uczelni. Procesu integracji taryfowej nie ułatwiał również fakt, iż na obszarze dzisiejszego GZM funkcjonowało przed powstaniem Metropolii kilku różnych organizatorów. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza procesu kształtowania się zintegrowanej taryfy biletowej na obszarze jedynej w Polsce metropolii.
    A key challenge for the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin (GZM) is to create a public transport system which will meet expectations of the inhabitants of 41 municipalities. Unlike the largest cities in Poland, the Association has a polycentric structure. Additionally, the Metropolitan Association is surrounded by many municipalities of the Central Subregion of the Silesian Voivodeship, which are not members of the GZM, but whose inhabitants travel daily to work, schools or universities. The process of tariff integration was not facilitated by the fact that in the area of today’s GZM several different transport organisers were functioning before the creation of the Association. The aim of this article is to analyse the process of developing an integrated ticket tariff in the only metropolis in Poland.
