knots - Opis:
- The aim of the research was to study the risk of infection through wounds made during pruning of thick−branched pine trees growing in plantation cultivation the seedling seed orchard and to evaluate the impact of pruning on the healing process of wounds protected by three chemical preparations. After branch removal, the wounds were protected with emulsion paint, Funaben and lac−balsam. Some trees with unprotected wounds were left as control. A total of 354 knots reaching the size of 70 mm in diameter (without bark) were examined. Eight years after the treatment, all the knots were found to be healthy. However, differences were observed in the time of wound closure depending on the preparation applied.
