We observe very deep changes involving the family. People live in different kinds of partnerships, not only in traditional marriages. They decide to have fewer children or even not have them at all. So is the family still beneficial in post-modern society? This article discusses the contemporary determinant conditions regarding the decision to start a family. The majority of them are connected with the labour market and social processes like inividualisation, changing social ties, and decaying of cultural universe. The post-modern society does not encourage people to start families. However, people still decide to have children and to form stable partnerships. This is because having offspring and a partner will give them something of the highest importance that is invaluable in post-modern society – emotional ties and emotional fulfilment.

Od ponad pół wieku Europa doświadcza zasadniczych zmian demograficznych. Wiele z tych zmian dotyczy rodziny, w tym sposobu jej formowania. Wśród przyczyn stopniowego odchodzenia od małżeństwa na rzecz związków partnerskich demografowie wskazują m.in. zmiany kulturowe zachodzące w społeczeństwach europejskich. Rzadko natomiast jako czynnik wpływający na zachowania jednostki traktuje się kontekst instytucjonalny, w tym stopień rozwoju uregulowań prawnych w zakresie związków innych niż małżeńskie. W artykule opisano ewolucję zmian w prawie rodzinnym w odniesieniu do związków partnerskich oraz porównanie rozwiązań w państwach, w których regulacje dotyczące takich związków są najpełniejsze (tj. w Holandii i Francji). W ostatniej części artykułu omówiono również regulacje obowiązujące obecnie w Polsce (stan prawny na 30 czerwca 2014 r.).
Since more than 50 years we can observe significant changes in family formation and development in Europe. The changes are usually explained stressing the role of cultural factors and the level of development of institutional context – i.a. the legal norms concerning different forms of unions is often neglected. The article presents the progress of statutory regulation of extra-marital cohabitation in Europe as well as the providing the description of the most advanced legal systems concerning registered partnership (France and the Netherlands). The regulation in Poland is also mentioned.

The aim of this paper is to present the types of fertility patterns that characterise European countries and their NUTS-1 units in the early 21st c. and in the near future. The types of fertility patterns were defined by ordering six five-year age groups of women aged from 15 to 44 years, according to the groups’ fertility rates (from the highest to the lowest). The analysis resulted in the creation of 14 different types of fertility patterns. Countries located in the same European region tend to have the same or similar type of fertility pattern. In most European countries, the postponement transition can be observed, and it will probably continue in the future. Differences between the fertility rates of the age groups were assessed within countries and between countries with the same type of fertility pattern by calculating the so-called fertility rate ratios. The paper also provides an overview of the main theories and concepts explaining the course of family formation processes in Europe and indicates factors that shape fertility patterns in European countries today.

The Church concern for a family is expressed through pre-evangelization, evangelization and catechetic teaching. Family ministry is a tool to carry out this task. However, a family is also a subject of evangelization through performing prophetic, priestly and kingly functions. A family as a home church is the community where one learns how to live in diversity, to belong to others, where parents convey their faith (see EG 66). It is the source of various vocations.

Zmieniające się czasy są zawsze nowym wyzwaniem dla duszpasterzy i rodzin, aby adekwatnie odpowiadać na potrzeby poszczególnych członków i całych rodzin, dzieci i rodziców. Wczasorekolekcje są jedną z nowych i owocnych odpowiedzi, wpasowujących się w potrzeby współczesnej rodziny. Zawierają w sobie trzy aspekty: (1) relacja, (2) rekreacja i (3) formacja. Odpowiednie, elastyczne wyważenie tych elementów stanowi atrakcyjną i skuteczną formułę dla całych rodzin, co zostało już wykazane w doświadczeniu wielu grup w Polsce.
The changing times are always a new challenge for pastors and families to adequately respond to the need of individual member of family and indeed whole families, children and parents. Holiday retreat is one of a new and effective ways to respond to the needs of a modern family. They embody three elements: 1. Relation, 2. Recreation and 3. Formation. There is already some evidence derived from an experience of many groups in Poland supporting a statement that suitably balancing all three aforementioned elements is an attractive and effective formula for whole families.

Opis:
The very family is a home church, but it should belong to a larger group in case it needs multi-dimensional aid. The present article presents the founding ideas, unique character and the current condition of family associations in Poland. Such groups are initiated by the families themselves or members of the hierarchy. Yet, they are always a gift of the Holy Spirit, who thus grants them support and the charisma of renewal. Family experts stress that under the influence of family associations positive changes on many planes are taking place, both in the family and in its relationship with the world. It is hard to estimate the number of family associations in Poland as some of them are of informal character, while others are not focused on the family but they have many family elements in their formation programme. Roughly speaking, there are about 130 associations of families or pro-family groups in Poland. The establishment and care of family associations is a significant task of family pastoral care in Poland.

The paper “Family in Islam” is a theoretical discussion on the origin, structure, and function of the institution of family in Muslim culture. The author refers to the religious sources (the Holy Book of Islam – the Koran), theological, and philosophical commentaries of Muslim authors. She also uses culture studies, sociology of family, social geography and journalism concerning the Arab areas. The paper contains an introduction, saying that it is necessary to learn and conduct an interreligious dialogue. Then the foundation and main principles of Islam have been discussed. Against this background the author has shown the assumptions on which the Muslim family is based. The author describes the most frequent today problems with the structure, function, and family roles in the group under study. Eventually, some traits of the family in the culture of Islam have been highlighted.

W pracy omówione zostały jednostki z rodziny leksykalnej smutku oraz z grupy „odczuć w rodzaju” smutku. W oparciu o materiał – publikacje językoznawców, słowniki języka polskiego, Narodowy Korpus Języka Polskiego oraz wypowiedzi użytkowników portali internetowych – autorka zrekonstruowała pole leksykalno-semantyczne zorganizowane wokół leksemu smutek. Zbadała także relacje między poszczególnymi elementami, które znalazły się w polu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tych, które we współczesnych tekstach polszczyzny podlegają neosemantyzacji.
This study discusses units from the lexical family of sorrow and from the semantic group of ‘sorrow-like’ feelings in the Polish language. Based on the material – the publications of linguists, the dictionaries of the Polish language, the National Corpus of the Polish language, and the utterances of the users of the web portals – the author reconstructed the lexical and semantic field organized around the lexeme sorrow. She also examined the relationships between particular elements in the field, with special emphasis on those that are subject to neo-semantization in contemporary texts of the Polish language.

The article presents the problem of the identity formation of an adolescent, in the context of the most socially significant reference group – the family. Adolescence is a time for searching for answers to many questions about the sense of life, goals, values, priorities. The individual identity formation process is a unique developmental opportunity, but at the same time a difficult period for those growing up, as well as their family. The article discusses the main directional changes which accompany identity formation and presents the social context of this process. It is a parental task to create a safe space of living together for their growing children, where there are common beliefs about values, ideals and life priorities. The article especially highlights the meaning of spiritual and world-view questions, which – as a basis of parents’ lives - give directions to their children’s pursuit of answers to the basic questions accompanying identity formation.

This article analyses the origins of family names and the duration of their functioning in rural anthroponymics on the basis of the anthroponymy of the south of the Volyn region in the early to mid-twentieth century. The study examines the semantic and word-formation structure of anthroponyms in the area, identifies lexico-semantic groups represented in the roots of family names, and considers different structural variants of the given names and surnames from which family names were derived, including their productivity and the most frequent cases. The semantics of roots and the word-formation structure of family names in the south of the Volyn region reflect general tendencies of the Ukrainian anthroponymic system and tendencies of the regional anthroponomy, which stem from dialectal features, influences of other languages, and historical and cultural peculiarities of the region.
W artykule przeanalizowano problem pochodzenia nazw rodowych oraz czasu ich funkcjonowania w antroponimikonie wiejskim (na podstawie antroponimów na południu obwodu wołyńskiego z początku i połowy XX wieku). Autorka analizuje strukturę semantyczną i słowotwórczą antroponimów w tym regionie, przedstawia grupy leksykalno-semantyczne reprezentowane w podstawach nazw rodowych, omawia różne pod względem strukturalnym warianty imion i nazwisk motywujące nazwy rodowe. W artykule określono produktywność imion motywujących nazwy rodowe i zidentyfikowano najbardziej aktywne imiona. Semantyka podstaw i struktura słowotwórcza nazw rodowych z południa obwodu wołyńskiego odzwierciedlają ogólne tendencje ukraińskiego systemu antroponimicznego, a także cechy regionalne antroponimii wynikające z właściwości gwarowych, wpływów innych języków oraz cech historycznych, kulturowych i obyczajowych regionu.

St. Gregory of Nazianzus was born in a Christian family wherein he re-ceived a Christian education together with his humanities and theology. After the Council of Nicaea (325 A.D.) and that of Constantinople (380 A.D.), the faith in the Triune God was a pillar siblings. Also, thanks to the care of his parents, he obtained a thorough education in of Christian doctrine, which resulted in the care of passing it on in the ecclesial communities of the fourth century. Pastors of the Church in Cappadocia and Asia Minor took care of the correct formation of the faithful who were entrusted to them, and combat any heterodox ideas which were proclaimed in many circles.

La formazione delle famiglie sui compiti apostolici  di guesti tempi a diverse dimensioni. La Conferenza Episcopale Polacca nel suo insegnamento e di guesto tema, contenuto nel Direttorio pastorale parla di come evangelizzare la famiglia e come la famiglia puó evangelizzare. Perció guesto articolo contiene due parti fondamentali: come evangelizzare la famiglia e come la famiglia deve evangelizzare. La prima parte sottolinea i seguenti problemi: il valore della Parola di Dio nella comunitá familiare, il Rito della Penitenza nella comunitá matrimoniale e familiare, l'influenza dell'anno liturgico nel matrimonio e nella famiglia, il valore del tempo trascorrso in famiglia. La seconda parte parla di come la famiglia deve evangelizzare. Sottolinea i seguenti problemi particolari: la famiglia di fronte ai figlii e agli altri familiari, la famiglia di fronte alle altre famiglie inoltre la presenza evangelizzante dei genitori nell scuola.

Summing up the questions concerning the function of the contemporary family, it is worth stressing that the pedagogy of family as a pedagogic sub-discipline has worked out, in a fairly brief period, a high position among other pedagogic disciplines. The Reverend Professor Józef Wilk rendered considerable services first in its development, then in showing its specific character. The Professor first worked at the Theology Faculty of KUL, and then at the Faculty of Social Sciences in the Department of the Pedagogy of Family. He co-founded theoretical reflection and developed practical activity. The notable fruit of his 33-year-long learned and didactic activity is a conference organised by the staff of the Department of the Pedagogy of Family KUL, then a publication. The latter shows the main areas of the Professor's learned interests and his research on behalf of the development of family. The value of this publication is its direction: at the object of the studies of the pedagogy of family, its methods in reference to the dynamic function of the contemporary family.

One of the problems of the modern family are weak personal bonds between the spouses as well as between the parents and children. In Europe, and also in Poland, there are fewer and fewer multigenerational families; two-generational or even one-generational ones dominate. Moreover, taking into consideration the fact of low fertility in families the process of pro-social and volontaristic formation in the family appears as a challenge to the contemporary family. Success of the process of pro-social and volontaristic formation in the family depends on several factors, like: the full composition of the family, the family atmosphere, the number of children in the family, the mother’s career, the financial situation of the family and the family's religiousness. However, the most important condition for attaining success of the process is discovering, especially by the parents, God's plan, according to which the family is the least social unit and an irreplaceable community of love. Only a family trying to realize such a model of family life is able to bring up the kind of beautiful man who not only can „be with others”, but also „be for others”.

Przeżywana w 2020 roku ogólnoświatowa pandemia koronawirusa spowodowała wprowadzenie surowych ograniczeń regulujących wszystkie przestrzenie życia społecznego. Dotyczyły one także możliwości uczestnictwa wiernych w liturgii oraz w codziennym życiu wspólnoty Kościoła. Skutkiem tego, wielu wiernych przeżywało liturgiczne obchody Wielkiejnocy oraz kolejnych niedziel paschalnych we wspólnocie najbliższej rodziny. Zgodnie ze wskazaniami biskupów, także we wspólnocie rodzinnej miało miejsce bezpośrednie przygotowanie dzieci do przyjęcia sakramentu pokuty i pojednania oraz I Komunii św. Rodziny stanęły zatem wobec konieczności wypełnienia zadań właściwych dla katechumenatu. Wobec powyższego, można postawić pytanie, czy w taki właśnie sposób – jako wspólnotę „domowego Kościoła” – postrzegają siebie współczesne chrześcijańskie rodziny? Czy są świadome swojej misji i odpowiednio do jej podjęcia przegotowane? Celem artykułu jest wydobycie mistagogicznego wymiaru formacji chrześcijańskiej we wspólnocie rodzinnej. Autor podejmuje refleksję nad rodziną jako miejscem urzeczywistnia się misterium Kościoła. Omawia także cele i zadania katechumenatu rodzinnego, podejmowane z racji udziału rodziny w życiu i misji Kościoła.
The 2020 global coronavirus pandemic led to severe restrictions imposed on all areas of social life. These restrictions also limited the ability of the faithful to participate in daily liturgy and everyday Church life. Consequently, many faithful participated in the liturgical celebrations of Easter and consecutive paschal Sundays within their family communities. Pursuant to bishops’ guidelines, direct preparation for the First Communion and the sacrament of penance and reconciliation took place within the family community. Families faced the challenge of taking on tasks that are normally reserved for the catechumenate. We can then pose the question of whether contemporary Christian families view themselves as a community of the “domestic Church.” Are they aware of their mission and prepared to fulfil it? The purpose of this article is to highlight the mystagogic dimension of Christian formation in the family community. The author offers a reflection on the family as the focus of realisation of the mystery of the Church. He analyses the goals and tasks of the family catechumenate, as exercised due to participation of the family in the life and mission of the Church.
