Opis:
This paper deals with the problem of defining the optimal procedure for reparation of the machine parts of large dimensions and complex shapes. The procedure consists of establishing the causes of the part's damages, definition of the reparation technology, with selection of its parameters and ways of execution. The reparation is done by hard-facing, with heat treatment that consists of preheating, additional heating and the post hard-facing tempering. The process parameters' selection includes choosing the right filler metal(s), ways and order of depositing the hard-faced layers, ways of reaching and maintaining the preheating temperatures, checking of the base metal's chemical composition and mechanical properties and deciding on the post-process heat and mechanical processing of the executed hard-facing. The executed reparation of the forging hammer's mallet, presented in details, serves as an example how the reparation can successfully serve as a substitute for procuring the new part and thus producing the savings both directly in lower costs and indirectly in shortening the down-time of the damaged part operation.

This article investigates tensions that arose when a group of Learning Facilitators (LFs) and students collaboratively examined the socially constructed nature of racial identity. These discussions transpired in a South Africa Department of English, in an introductory module in postcolonial literature designed for first-year students. The core contribution of the article lies in conjoining critical diversity literacy (CDL) and structure-facing virtue to theorise this tension. It also produces suggestions for deepening the emancipatory potential of such discussions about identity and power in ways that are intended to be relevant to other settings in which comparable discussions are occurring between students and contractually appointed university teachers like LFs.

The article refers to proposition of research methodology for durability prognosis for facial walls. In present fast technology development there are new materials introduced to construction, and although their properties are known there is not necessary experience regarding their durability and resistance to influences of environmental impact for many years. In authors research there is possibility of migration of soluble compounds originating from the same ceramic material as well as from mortars in laboratory and field tests. After the analysis of European construction regulations the authors stated that they have not been prepared in such state to be a sufficient base for evaluation of durability of a facial wall. This element was left for designers decision, which results often in accidental choice of compound materials.

Opis:
This paper is focused on various aspects of the development and testing of water cooled divertor PFCs. Divertor PFCs are mainly designed to absorb the heat and particle fluxes out flowing from the core plasma of fusion devices like ITER. The Divertor and First Wall Technology Development Division at the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), India, is extensively working on development and testing of divertor plasma facing components (PFCs). Tungsten and graphite macro-brush type test mock-ups were produced using vacuum brazing furnace technique and tungsten monoblock type of test mock-ups were obtained by hot radial pressing (HRP) technique. Heat transfer performance of the developed test mock-ups was tested using high heat flux tests with different heat load conditions as well as the surface temperature monitoring using transient infrared thermography technique. Recently we have established the High Heat Flux Test Facility (HHFTF) at IPR with an electron gun EH300V (M/s Von Ardenne Anlagentechnik GmbH, Germany) having maximum power 200 kW. Two tungsten monoblock type test mock-ups were probed using HHFTF. Both of the test mock-ups successfully sustained 316 thermal cycles during high heat fl ux (HHF) tests. The test mock-ups were non- -destructively tested using infrared thermography before and after the HHF tests. In this note we describe the detailed procedure used for testing macro-brush and monoblock type test mock-ups using in-house transient infrared thermography set-up. An acceptance criteria limit was defined for small scale macro-brush type of mock-ups using DTrefmax value and the surface temperature measured during the HHF tests. It is concluded that the heat transfer behavior of a plasma facing component was checked by the HHF tests followed by transient IR thermography. The acceptance criteria DTrefmax limit for a graphite macro-brush mock-up was found to be ~3centi grade while for a tungsten macro-brush mock-up it was ~5centi grade.

Opis:
Tungsten is a prime candidate material for the plasma-facing components in future fusion devices, e.g. ITER and DEMO. Because of the harsh and complex loading conditions and the differences in material properties, joining of the tungsten armor to the underlying construction and/or cooling parts is a complicated issue. To alleviate the thermal stresses at the joint, a sharp interface may be replaced by a gradual one with a smoothly varying composition. In this paper, several techniques for the formation of tungsten-steel composites and graded layers are reviewed. These include plasma spraying, laser cladding, hot pressing and spark plasma sintering. Structure, composition and selected thermal and mechanical properties of representative layers produced by each of these techniques are presented. A summary of advantages and disadvantages of the techniques and an assessment of their suitability for the production of plasma-facing components is provided.

Opis:
In this paper, a numerical study of forced convection on a backward facing step containing a single-finned fixed cylinder has been performed, using a ferrofluid and external magnetic field with different inclinations. The partial differential equations, which determine the conservation equations for mass, momentum and energy, were solved using the finite element scheme based on Galerkin’s method. The analysis of heat transfer characteristics by forced convection was made by taking different values of the Reynolds number (Re between 10 and 100), Hartmann number (Ha between 0 and 100), nanoparticles concentration (φ between 0 and 0.1) and magnetic field inclination (γ between 0° and 90°); also, several fin positions α [0°–180°] were taken in the counter clockwise direction by a step of 5. After analysing the results, we concluded that Hartmann number, nanoparticles concentration, Reynolds number and magnetic field angles have an influence on the heat transfer rate. However, the fin position on the cylinder has a big impact on the Nusselt number and therefore on heat transfer quality. The best position of the fin is at (α = 150°), which gives the best Nusselt number and therefore the best heat trans-fer, but the fin position at (α = 0°) remains an unfavourable case that gives the lowest Nusselt values.

Opis:
Computational examinations of the flow field in an open channel having a single Backward- -Facing Step (BFS) with a constant water depth of 1.5 m were performed. The effects of the expansion ratio, and the flow velocity along the reattachment length, were investigated by employing two different expansion ratios of 1.5 and 2, and eight various flow velocities of 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7.5 and 10 m/sec in the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations. Commercially available CFD software, ANSYS FLUENT, was used for calculations. The simulation outcomes were verified using experimental results. Moreover, analyses were performed by using two equation turbulence closure models, K-ε family (standard, RNG and realizable), and K-ω family (Wilcox’s and SST K-ω). The analyses have revealed that the reattachment length increases with an increase in the expansion ratio, the flow velocity and the Reynolds number. The results obtained for two expansion rates and eight different flow velocities have shown insignificant differences between one turbulence closure model and the others. Furthermore, it was observed that both velocity and expansion ratios have an effect on the reattachment zone size.

The gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process is an excellent way of performing quality hard- -facing applications. The residual stresses and distortions are encountered in hard-facing. There are several methods to decrease residual stresses. Changing the welding pattern, changing thickness and preheating can be mentioned for this purpose. In this work, the influence of the welding pattern, plate thickness and preheating was investigated. The temperature distribution with the same welding conditions was used for validation of the numerical model. The total deformation in a 2mm plate was 15 times higher than in a 6mm plate with the same welding conditions.
