    Anonymous letters are a challenge for linguists and raise a whole range of questions that ultimately allow a creation of the linguistic portrait of the possible author. One of these questions concerns the emotional layer of the anonymous letter and the way anonymous authors express their emotions in language. This article is a contribution to the discussion and analysis of a specific type of speech genre, which is anonymous letter. The data comes from a pilot study of the original anonymous letters, the primary purpose of which is to create a corpus of those letters.

    The study represents a contribution to the current debate on linguistic expressivity and expressive meaning in the light of emotion studies and verbal aggression research. The emotions closely related to verbal aggression (anger, fear, frustration, lust and desire) and their social display rules are discussed on the basis of current emotions theories. The connection between linguistic expressiveness and emotions is shown by means of exemplary positions: Bühler’s and (post)Bühler’s view of the functions of language, speech act theory and new formal semantic approaches.

    Malgré la fréquence de son apparition dans l’expression naturelle (aussi bien parlée qu’écrite), l’interjection reste, paradoxalement, l’un des phénomènes les plus controversés de tout le système linguistique et dès lors, considérés comme périphériques. La complexité de sa nature aussi bien que son statut très ambigu, conduisent au flou terminologique ne permettant pas d’aboutir, à ce stade de recherche, à un modèle définitoire qui pourrait être satisfaisant pour tous les éléments de cette classe grammaticale. Notre article se propose d’explorer la catégorie de l’interjection en s’appuyant sur les critères morphologiques, syntaxiques et sémantiques. L’objectif de notre travail sera de décrire le fonctionnement de l’interjection dans le discours en évoquant le rôle du contexte situationnel qui détermine le caractère polyfonctionnel de ce groupe de mots. Cette démarche nous permettra ègalement d’analyser le potentiel expressif de la classe grammaticale en question, ainsi que sa portée communicative.
    Despite its frequent appearance in natural expression (both spoken and written), the interjection remains, paradoxically, one of the most controversial phenomena in the whole language system and is therefore considered peripheral. The complexity of its nature, as well as its very ambiguous status, lead to blurry terminology, which, at this stage of research, does not allow to achieve a defining model that could be satisfactory for all elements of this grammatical class. The paper aims to explore the category of the interjection by relying on morphological, syntactic and semantic criteria. The objective of my work is to describe the functioning of the interjection in speech by evoking the role of situational context which determines the multifunctional character of this group of words. This approach will also allow me to analyze the expressive potential of the grammatical category in question and its communicative significance.

    The paper discusses the relationship between leadership and expressivity as exemplified by the Polish President's address to the Ukrainian Parliament delivered on 22 May 2022. The study draws on existing understandings of expressivity and discursive leadership as well as previous studies on gesture in political rhetoric. Co-speech gestures are discussed as an interactional resource linked to emotion and evaluation, and as an inseparable part of the speaker’s public persona and identity. Following Bednarek (2011), the analysis considers the president’s expressivity at the micro-, meso- and macro-level, and it identifies a range of linguistic and gestural resources with which Andrzej Duda constructs a positive involved style while “communicating emotion” and “doing intensity.” The analysis also links the president’s linguistic expression of ardour and gestural behaviour to leadership capabilities, explaining how “relating to the audience” and “visioning” can stir and mobilise the audience in times of war and uncertainty.
    Praca omawia związek przywództwa z ekspresywnością na przykładzie wystąpienia Prezydenta RP wygłoszonego w ukraińskim parlamencie 22 maja 2022 r. Badanie czerpie z dotychczasowych ustaleń dotyczących ekspresywności oraz przywództwa dyskursywnego, a także badań nad zachowaniami niewerbalnymi polityków. W pracy zwrócono uwagę na rolę gestów towarzyszących mowie w wyrażaniu emocji i wartościowań, a także na ich udział w budowaniu publicznego wizerunku oraz tożsamości mówcy. Analiza ekspresywności Prezydenta RP, przeprowadzona zgodnie z założeniami Bednarek (2011) na poziomie mikro, mezo i makro, pozwoliła na identyfikację szeregu zasobów językowych i niewerbalnych, za pomocą których Andrzej Duda komunikuje emocje oraz buduje intensywność actio, podkreślając swoje zaangażowanie i pozytywność przekazu. W analizie wskazano ponadto na związek między ekspresją językową i gestyczną a zachowaniami przywódczymi, wyjaśniając, w jaki sposób budowanie relacji z odbiorcą oraz kreślenie wizji mogą poruszać emocje odbiorców i mobilizować ich do działania w dobie wojny i niepewności.

    The article brings closer the formal and expressive properties of the 7th Symphony by Krzysztof Meyer, composed in the years 2002/2003. Meyer distinguishes several specific features that should be taken into consideration during the process of composing.1 These include: the capacity to adapt, the limitation of soundinformation transferred onto the listener, and a division of the form into integrant phases. The capacity to ‘adapt’ occurs through opposing emotional states connected with the reception of music: remembering, familiarising, and becoming used to a certain property of the musical progress - surprise that emerges with the appearance of a change. The surprise effect is a strong reaction, and one that is sought after for the purpose of maintaining a high level of the listener’s engagement in the reception process of music. The need to ‘limit the sound-information’ that the composer transfers onto the listener allows the latter to take note of it and remember it. An information overload leads to a sense of disorientation, being lost, and consequently discouragement from active listening. Finally, ‘the significance of the structural elements of the form’ is considered. In his conclusion, Meyer presents a model of musical form as a progress based on phases unfolding in time. The composer outlines the following phases: the initial phase, the essential phase, the transitional phase, the phase of particular importance, and the final phase. However, he warns against literal and orthodox understanding of his concept. ‘Meyer’s fundamental aim is ‘to lead’ the listener and not to overstretch their perceptive capabilities. A ‘planned spontaneity’ is the purpose’.2 ‘All the symphonies by Meyer, both early and recent, were shaped in the same manner. The process is at the forefront: build-up, development, clashing collisions, conflict of contrasting elements’.3 The 7th Symphony is also built according to similar constructional principles. What distinguishes it from the earlier works in this genre is connected with the expressivity of the work. The composer notes: ‘The symphony evolves according to musical laws par excellence, but not without admitting some thoughts about myself in metaphorical categories, because, after all, the subtitle ‘Sinfonia del tempo che passa’ - Symphony of the Passing Time - was not chosen accidentally’.4 Thus it is a tale about one of the most fundamental existential experiences of every human being: the passing. This is suggested by the emotional aura of the music, the subtitle that the work was given, and references to emphatic rhetoricalmusical figures known from the Baroque period. As Thomas Wesselman wrote: ‘The subtitle Symphony of the Passing Time clearly invites the assigning of a retrospective character to this opus no. 97’.5 ‘It is true that the composer has never commented on the subject, but the justification of the suspicion seems to be confirmed by the expressivity of the final movement (molto lento), which, in a way, is a statement filled with peace and tranquillity made by a human being with years of experience behind him. In any case, it suffices to compare this symphony with its two predecessors, i.e. the 5th, full of energy and scored for strings, and the dramatic 6th written as a reaction to the introduction of the martial law in Poland; one has a sensation that a moment of reflection (pondering over life’s end?) plays a special role in the 7th'.6

Among female names, a special example is the suffix -ula, which is either non-existent in other dialects, or has a different function (forms names of wives or cows).     The author presents the case of expressiveness and identity in the language of the Internet users discussing about the politics. The analysis is based on the corpus of French, Italian and Polish anti slogans and anti posters and it refers to the verbal instruments used by the authors of anti electoral advertising. The objective of the paper is to describe the aesthetic processes which make this kind of language expressive as well as to show how the identity of the anti electoral publicity authors is created.
    L’article a pour objectif d’aborder le problème de l’expressivité et de l’identité dans le langage des internautes traitant le sujet de la politique. En nous basant sur un corpus d’anti-slogans et d’anti-affiches politiques relevés sur les sites français, polonais et italiens, nous décrirons des instruments discursifs et des procédés esthétiques qui fourmillent dans le langage anti-sloganique. Nous analyserons des procédés contribuant à l’expressivité de ce langage et nous chercherons à démontrer comment se construit l’identité des auteurs de l’anti-publicité politique.

    This article presents some results of research in multimedia translation especially in the field of French-German contrastive description of film-subtitles. Our analysis is based on original dialogues and scripts of some of most popular films about the life in French suburbs; the transcriptions will be compared with the subtitled versions in German and in any cases with the dubbing-text. We aim to study the use of expressive and affective idioms in the French dialogs and their translational solutions chosen by the translators. Are discussed the ritual use of phraseological units like swear-words/maledictions, idioms of invectiveness and offences, verbal slanders but also specially connotated interjections and forms/terms of address to clarify their significations and functions. Adequate translation of this type of expressions is very important for the respect of the “aim” of those films.
    L’article présente les résultats des recherches dans le domaine de la traduction multimédia, en particulier ceux de la description contrastive du sous-titrage franco-allemand. Dans les analyses, nous sommes parti des dialogues originaux et des scénarios de quelques films français sur la banlieue parisienne. Les transcriptions sont comparées avec les versions allemandes sous-titrées. Dans certains cas, les versions doublées sont également considérées. L’objectif visé est d’étudier l’usage des expressions idiomatiques, expressives et affectives dans les textes français et de les comparer avec les « équivalents » choisis par les traducteurs. Il s’agit notamment de l’usage rituel des unités phraséologiques, telles les injures, insultes, jurons/formules juratoires, calomnies et gros mots ainsi que les interjections et termes d’adresse connotés, dont sont analysées les significations et les fonctions. La traduction adéquate de ce type de phrasèmes et d’expressions revêt une importance décisive pour rendre justice à « l’âme » de ces films.

    В настоящей статье внимание обращено на анализ эмотивно-оценочного дискурса (ЭОД) языковой личности священника. Используя набор программных инструментов для обработки языковых корпусов, разработанный компанией Lexical Computing Ltd, был осуществлен количественный анализ текста проповеди на «День Святой Троицы. Пятидесятница (8 июня 2014 года). Предметом исследования является текстовая гнома № 4, которая вызвала огромный резонанс в обществе. Автор – протоиерей Димитрий Смирнов. Исследование проведено не только в аспекте корпусной лингвистики, но и в ракурсе теории дискурса, составной частью которого являются религиозный и эмотивно-оценочный дискурсы. В результате исследования был выявлен в дискурсе проповедника основной концепт «Человек», важнейшие коммуникативные параметры, как экспрессивность, неофициальность. Среди предтекстовых пресуппозиций текста проповеди можно назвать информацию о том, что проповедник учился в школе с математико-физическим профилем.
    W niniejszym artykule zwrócono uwagę na analizę dyskursu emotywno-oceniającego osobowości językowej osoby duchownej. Korzystając z zestawu narzędzi programowych do przetwarzania korpusów językowych, opracowanych przez Lexical Computing Ltd, przeprowadzono analizę ilościową tekstu „Kazania na Dzień Świętej Trójcy. Pięćdziesiątnica” (8 czerwca 2014 r.). Przedmiotem badań jest fragment kazania № 4, który wywołał ogromny rezonans w społeczeństwie. Autorem jest protojerej Dimitriy Smirnov. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone nie tylko w aspekcie językoznawstwa korpusowego, ale także z perspektywy teorii dyskursu, której elementami składowymi są dyskurs religijny i dyskurs emotywno-oceniający. Omówiono rozumienie pojęcia osobowość językowa. W wyniku badań w dyskursie kaznodziei został wyłoniony główny koncept „Сzłowiek” oraz wskazano najważniejsze parametry komunikacyjne, takie jak ekspresywność i nieformalność. Wśród przedtekstowych presupozycji tekstu kazania można wymienić informacje, które kaznodzieja otrzymał w szkole o profilu matematyczno-fizycznym.
    This paper focuses on an analysis of the emotive-evaluative discourse of the linguistic personality of the clergyman. Using a set of software tools for processing language corpora developed by Lexical Computing Ltd., a quantitative analysis was carried out of the text of “The Sermon for Holy Trinity Day. Pentecost” (8 June 2014). The subject of the study was the text of sermon No 4, which had evoked a huge response in society. Its author was Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov. The study was conducted not only from the perspective of corpus linguistics, but also from that of discourse theory, the components of which are religious discourse and emotive-evaluative discourse. The understanding of the concept of linguistic personality was also discussed. As a result of the study, the main concept of “Man” in the preacher’s discourse was selected and the most important communicative parameters, such as expressivity and informality, were identified. Among the pretextual presuppositions of the text of the sermon is the knowledge the preacher received at school, which placed a particular emphasis on mathematics and physics.
