    In this paper it is being argued that music might be regarded as a adaptive human behavior in the light of the evolutionary process. The author recalls here the NAPS theory of music according to which music does not prolong the existence of humanity but it might use one or many channels related to feeling pleasure which had evolved to strengthen adaptive behavior. The article recalls examples of theoreis of musical evolution connec ted to such issues as sexual choices, social integrity, development of perception, development of movement abilities, group effort, reduction of conf lict of interests, safe time consumption and communication between generations. All this evidence is being here regarded through archeological, anthropological and etological context. The conclusion of this paper is based on two assumptions. The first one is the notion that our mood is regulated through conversation and being with a friendly human. The other says that music takes and important place in this mood regulation.

    While the research literature is replete with studies focusing on the developmental factors that affect self-esteem, little attention has been paid to the source or functions of the self-esteem motive itself. The present paper aims at exploring some ways in which an evolutionary-developmental-psychological (EDP) perspective can explain the adaptive nature of self-esteem. This paper attempts to address some important issues that are the focus of evolutionary psychology, including, possible evolutionary functions of self-esteem, by focusing on two theories namely, the Terror Management Theory (TMT) and the Sociometer Theory. Additionally, this review also attempts to identify some of the links between self-esteem and social relationships using an evolutionary-developmental-psychological (EDP) framework.

    In this paper, the concept of a multidimensional discrete spectral measure is introduced in the context of its application to the real-valued evolutionary algorithms. The notion of a discrete spectral measure makes it possible to uniquely define a class of multivariate heavy-tailed distributions, that have recently received substantial attention of the evolutionary optimization community. In particular, an adaptation procedure known from the distribution estimation algorithms (EDAs) is considered and the resulting estimated distribution is compared with the optimally selected referential distribution.

    Biorąc pod uwagę fakt, że w kategoriach analitycznych głównym przedmiotem badań w filozofii sztuki są twierdzenia o sztuce i że poddaje ona jedynie ponownemu badaniu przedmiot określany jako „sztuka”, ze swej strony stwierdzam, że interdyscyplinarny charakter ewolucyjnego podejścia do sztuki i estetyki wynika prawdopodobnie z naturalizacji perspektywy filozoficznej oraz z „etologicznego zwrotu” w estetyce. Umożliwia to ujawnienie genezy, źródeł i funkcji sztuki oraz zachowań artystycznych w okresie bezprecedensowych odkryć nauk ewolucyjnych związanych z kulturą i poznaniem człowieka. Postrzegam to jako obowiązek badacza, który stara się znaleźć odpowiedź na ponadczasowe kontrowersje dotyczące prawdziwej natury sztuki i uniwersalnych emocji, jakie wywołuje, a nie tylko zajmować się tym, co formułuje teoria.
    Considering the fact that, in analytical terms, the main subject of research in the philosophy of art are statements about art and that it only re-examines objects defined as ‘art’, I argue, instead, that the interdisciplinary nature of the evolutionary approach to art and aesthetic is possibly due to the naturalization of philosophical perspective and due to ‘ethological turn’ in aesthetics. It makes it possible to reveal the origin, sources and function of art and artistic behaviour at a time of unprecedented discoveries in evolutionary science related to human culture and cognition. I see this as a duty of the researcher, who aims at finding answers to the timeless controversies about the real nature of art and the universal emotions it evokes, and not only deal with what theory formulates.
