    Humanitarian science many times had to admit that the Past would prove a treacherous ground indeed to be taken for granted. It can easily slide either under the pressure of new facts or reshuffle of known facts or due to a political regime change. The first-person documentary literature plays an important role in revising the Past. Until recently it was considered to be outside the mainstream study, but nowadays it gets more and more attention. In the absence of unified concept as to what the first-person documentary literature is and if it actually can be considered as literature at all, many local theories burst out. The first-person documentary literature offers various points of view on the course of historical events. In the same time it can be used to verify them since there is an ethical or metaphysical reflection to it.

    Opis:
    This paper on engaged anthropology is focused on several issues which, on the one hand, define the characteristic features of this current of anthropology, and, on the other, allow us to reflect on how the social role of an anthropologist can be understood today. The author begins her remarks by pointing to the ambiguity of the term “commitment” and to some of the consequences. She compares Norbert Elias’s position with the ways of understanding commitment adopted by contemporary anthropologists. She draws attention to the basic epistemological problems of engaged anthropology in regard to understanding cognition processes, and above all in regard to understanding the position of the researcher and the subject. She is then able to comment on contemporary attempts to establish the nature of an anthropologist and his or her potential social role. At the same time, she points to similarities with earlier sociological and anthropological concepts, stressing that the project of engaged anthropology shows a particularly clear link between methodology and ethical reflection.

    In the practice of sociocultural anthropology, ethics is an important subject for Polish scholars, who more and more readily discuss the need for developing ethical standards regulating their research practice. Special attention in this respect should be paid to socially and practically engaged anthropological projects which, as the text proves, are above all “ethical”, that is focused, as a task in itself, on the goals and effects of researchers’ actions in specifi c environments. The objective of the text is to reflect on selected aspects of this type of anthropological activity. Its main source of inspiration were the experiences of scholars conducting research, undertaking specific actions on behalf of immigrants and refugees, and entering into negotiations with offi cials – persons from the broadly defi ned sphere of education. All the anthropologists involved in these activities are connected to the Poznań Centre for Migration Studies (Centrum Badań Migracyjnych, CeBaM) and the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at Adam Mickiewicz University, as is the author of the text, and participated in the project: Social and Cultural Identification of Foreigners.

    Статья презентует результаты анализа психологических подходов к пониманию структуры и функционирования этического сознания личности. Уточнены понятия морального и этического сознания. Моральное сознание является формой общественного сознания, оно основывается на социальном бытии и носит объективный характер. Этическое сознание означает постижение морали личностью и является формой индивидуального сознания. Определены структурные элементы нравственного сознания, охватывающие когнитивную, аффективную и поведенческую сферы личности. Выявлено, что нравственное сознание может функционировать на обыденном и теоретическом уровнях. Выделены функции этического сознания: аксиологическая, мировоззренческая, регулятивная, функция целеполагания. Установлено, что развитие этического сознания обусловлено личностью, подвергающей сомнению моральные нормы и представления, на основе рефлексии принимающей собственную моральную систему и оценивающей личные поступки по категориям добра и зла
    Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy psychologicznych podejść do rozumienia struktury i funkcji świadomości etycznej osobowości. Sprecyzowano pojęcia świadomości moralnej i świadomości etycznej. Świadomość moralna stanowi formę świadomości społecznej, bazuje na bycie społecznym i ma charakter obiektywny. Świadomość etyczna wyraża proces internalizacji przez osobowość zasad moralności i stanowi formę świadomości indywidualnej. Określono składniki struktury świadomości moralnej, obejmujące poznawczą, emocjonalną i behawioralną sferę osobowości. Udowodniono, że świadomość moralna funkcjonuje na teoretycznym i codziennym poziomie. Wyodrębniono funkcje świadomości etycznej: aksjologiczną, światopoglądową, regulacyjną oraz teleologiczną. Pokazano, że rozwój świadomości etycznej uwarunkowany jest osobowością kwestionującą normy i wyobrażenia moralne, która na podstawie refleksji przyjmuje swój własny układ moralny i przeto wartościuje czyny osobowości według kryteriów dobra i zła.
    The article presents the analysis of psychological approaches to understanding the structure and functioning of individual ethical consciousness. The concepts of moral and ethical consciousness have been specified. The moral consciousness is a form of social consciousness; it is based on a social being and is objective. Ethical consciousness means comprehension of morality by a personality and represents a form of individual consciousness. The structural elements of moral consciousness have been defined, covering the cognitive, affective and behavioral spheres. It has been revealed that moral consciousness can function at everyday and theoretical levels. The functions of ethical consciousness such as axiological, philosophical, regulatory and goal setting have been highlighted. It has been found that ethical consciousness development is determined by an individual, who is calling in question moral norms and ideas on the basis of a reflection which recognizes his own moral reflecting system and evaluates his own individual actions by categories of good and evil.
