Opis:
In this workcylinder testswere performed for two emulsion explosives (Emulinit 8L and Emulinit GM1) used in the mining industry. Based on the results of the tests, the detonation pressure and energy of these explosives were estimated. The detonation characteristics obtained, the profile of the expanding copper tube and the results of the numerical simulation enabled the constants in the JWL(Jones-Wilkins-Lee) equation of state to be determine for the detonation products of these two explosives.

Opis:
In this work, the cylinder test was performed on a selection of non-ideal explosives. The test data were used to determine the Gurney energy, detonation pressure and energy, and the coefficients of the JWL (Jones, Wilkins, Lee) equation of isentrope for detonation products. The isentrope equations were used to calculate the theoretical expansion work of the detonation products of the tested explosives. The determined equations of state can be used, for example, to model the action of the detonation products on rock materials or the acceleration of plates in cladding systems.

Opis:
Molecular dynamics simulations with condensed-phase optimized molecular potentials for atomistic simulation studies force field are performed to investigate the structure, equation of state, and mechanical properties of high energetic material pentaerythritol tetranitrate. The equilibrium structural parameters, pressure-volume relationship and elastic constants at ambient conditions agree excellently with experiments. In addition, fitting the pressure-volume data to the Birch-Murnaghan or Murnaghan equation of state, the bulk modulus B₀ and its first pressure derivative B'₀ are obtained. Moreover, the elastic constants are calculated in the pressure range of 0-10 GPa at room temperature and in the temperature range of 200-400 K at the standard pressure, respectively. By the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation, the mechanical properties such as bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, and the Young modulus E are also obtained successfully. The predicted physical properties under temperature and pressure can provide powerful guidelines for the engineering application and further experimental investigations.

Parameters of the equations of state (EOS) derived from measurements in the diamond anvil cell (DAC) are summarized for manganese hydrides and for hydrides derived from YMn2 Laves phase. It was found that the compression behavior of recently discovered YMn2H6 is different from YMn2-based hydrides with lower hydrogen content.

Opis:
The Jones-Wilkins-Lee (JWL) equation of state parameters for ANFO and emulsion-type explosives have been obtained from cylinder test expansion measurements. The calculation method comprises a new radial expansion function, with a non-zero initial velocity at the onset of the expansion in order to comply with a positive Gurney energy at unit relative volume, as the isentropic expansion from the CJ state predicts. The equations reflecting the CJ state conditions and the measured expansion energy were solved for the JWL parameters by a non-linear least squares scheme. The JWL parameters of thirteen ANFO and emulsion type explosives have been determined in this way from their cylinder test expansion data. The results were evaluated through numerical modelling of the tests with the LS-DYNA hydrocode; the expansion histories from the modelling were compared with the measured ones, and excellent agreement was found.

Despite intensive development of numerical methods of resolution of ordinary differential equations, we still seek analytical solutions of these equations in the algebraic form. The analytical solution in an algebraic form, is very convenient in case of investigation of the course of solution in a large interval of changes of parameters, it also gives more qualitative informations. This concerns first of all linear equations which are the most often met models of physical objects. Important advantage of these solutions is also their open form regarding established state of the system. The paper proves existence of algebraic forms of solutions of control vectors with components: exponential, sinusoidal with different circular frequencies and sinusoidal multiple. Also solutions for other kind of control vectors which are mentioned in the literature are presented.

Variations in the thermodynamic state of a dispersive medium, caused by sound, are studied. A bubbly liquid and a Maxwell fluid are considered as examples. Curves in the plane of thermodynamic states are plotted. They are in fact pictorial images of linear relations of excess pressure and excess density in the acoustic wave which reflect irreversible attenuation of the sound energy. The curves account for the nonlinear generation of the entropy mode in the field of sound. In the case of Maxwell fluids, loops may form under some conditions. Curves and loops for some kinds of stationary waveforms and impulse sound are discussed and compared.

Opis:
In this study, a methodology was presented to predict density stratified flows in the near-field of submerged bodies. The energy equation in temperature form was solved coupled with momentum and mass conservation equations. Linear stratification was achieved by the definition of the density as a function of temperature. At first, verifications were performed for the stratified flows passing a submerged horizontal circular cylinder, showing excellent agreement with available experimental data. The ability of the method to cope with variable density was demonstrated. Different turbulence models were used for different Re numbers and flow states. Based on the numerical methods proposed in this paper, the stratified flow was studied for the real scale benchmark DAPRA Suboff submarine. The approach used the VOF method for tracing the free surface. Turbulence was implemented with a k − ω based Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) approach. The effects of submarine speed, depth and density gradient on the free surface wave pattern were quantitatively analyzed. It was shown that, with the increasing of the speed of the submarine, the wavelength and wave height of the free surface wave were gradually increasing. The wave height of the free surface wave was gradually reduced as the submarine’s depth increased. Relative to the speed and submarine depth, the changes of the gradient density gradient have negligible effects on the free surface wave field.

The BKW equation parameters and gaseous product co-volumes were reparametrized for CHNO explosives which release no condensed carbon when detonated. This estimation has led to a more reliable (correct) parameter set of the BKW equation because all of the possible errors due to the uncertainties in the phase composition and equation of state for nanoscale condensed carbon, the inhomogeneity of composite explosives, and so forth, are eliminated. The estimation was performed using an optimization database of 24 explosives, including 121 measurements of detonation velocity and pressure. Three parameters of the BKW equation and the co-volumes of 45 gaseous products were optimized. A set of 10 explosives having a small negative oxygen balance was checked. The resulting set provides a several-fold smaller error in calculating the detonation velocity and a more accurate prediction of the detonation pressure, as compared to the known sets of BKWRDX, BKWR, BKWS, and BKWC.

Opis:
Different thermodynamic properties (the vapour density, the liquid density and the saturation pressure) were calculated by the model based on the Nakamura-Breedveld-Prausnitz equation of state (NBP EOS). Since the original form of the NBP EOS often generates inaccurate results for liquids, it was modified to describe this phase better. The calculations were realized in the subcritical region. So far, the temperature-dependent NBP EOS parameters have been obtained by special correlations. Their constants were fitted to a lot of experimental data. In this paper the equation of state temperature-dependent parameters were obtained by a new method which was based at piecewise cubic Hermite interpolating polynomials (PCHIPs). In the proposed method some experimental data (called the key ones) were used, thus reducing the experimental effort. Seven substances were chosen for the test calculations. Each of them is common in industry. The calculation results were compared with the experimental data. The new method has made an accurate description of vapour-liquid equilibrium for the considered pure substances over a wide temperature range possible.
