Opis:
The study aims to build a model for the assessment of soil compaction processes, which take place under the influence of individual components of the skidding system such as a forwarder and a log being moved over the terrain. This aim is relevant in the context of forest preservation and ecological footprint-related issues. The model of a single log impact on the soil is based on establishing calculation formulas for determining soil compaction factors and shelterbelt size. The efficiency of the model was assessed on different soil categories and compared to experimental findings. The value of relative soil compaction within the trail boundary and the size rs of the maximum compaction area in the radial direction from the track, the width of the shelterbelt of undergrowth or cut-to-length root system were estimated based on the initial contact parameters.

legal protection of environmental in albania
Opis:
The scope of this article is twofold, on one hand; it makes an analysis of the current situation of the environment protection through the criminal law in the Albania, by proving a legal landscape on the current criminal conducts as are foreseen by the Criminal Code of Albania. It starts with an introduction which aims to highlight the status play of the increased attention that is being shown for the environmental protection in the global arena. Then it makes an assessment on the definition of the environmental harm, and the technical-legal approaches utilised for the protection of the environment. After that, this article makes a description of the legal concept of environment in Albania and analyses the existing criminal offences as they are foreseen by the Criminal Code. On the other hand, the article makes a preliminary assessment of the new coming reform on the environmental crime in Albania, by trying to identify the problematic issues and their address by the draft-law. The conclusions reached at the end shows the evolution of the concept of environment and its protection, welcomes the new reform by noting the need of the judicial authorities to be trained in order to be fully implemented.

Opis:
The environmental and legal aspects of spatial planning in mining areas presented in this work should be considered important, especially in the region of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, where mining has been carried out since the 17th century until present. Such a long period of mining activity, characterized by a particularly negative impact on the environment, has led to a number of adverse consequences for buildings and other infrastructure facilities. Therefore, it became necessary to develop and implement legal instruments aimed at reducing the negative influence of mining works on the environment. An important tool for achieving the indicated objectives is a forecast on the negative impact of mining works on land surface, which should be submitted by the mining entrepreneur as part of a deposit development plan. The negative impact of mining works on land surface usually results in land depression and deformation as well as the loss of its continuity, accompanied by the formation of cracks and faults. After the information submitted by the entrepreneur has been verified by the District Mining Office, it becomes one of the most important elements of the licence decision as it results in designating mining areas and so-called protective pillars. Interestingly, the currently applicable Geological and Mining Law of June 9, 2011, unlike the previously applicable regulation of February 4, 1994, does not impose a legal obligation to prepare local development plans for mining areas. It seems, however, that in the event such areas exist, their purpose and land development methods should be determined in the form of a local legal act despite the lack of a statutory requirement. This solution enables introducing restrictions on property development and, consequently, makes it possible to reduce mining damage.

Opis:
Water and wind erosion are the most powerful factors in the decrease of soil fertility and a threat to food security. The study was conducted on the steppe zone in Ukraine (total area of 167.4 thous. km2), including agricultural land (131.6 thous. km2). At the first stage, the modeling of spatial differentiation of water and wind erosion manifestations was carried out to calculate losses of soil (Mg∙ha–1) and to determine their degradation. At the second stage, soil-climatic bonitet of zonal soils (points) is carried out to determine their natural fertility (Mg∙ha–1). At the third stage, the spatial adjustment of the natural soil fertility to the negative effect of erosion was carried out. This made it possible to calculate crop losses and total financial losses due to water and wind erosion. The integrated spatial modeling showed that about 68.7% of arable land was constantly affected by the combined erosion, in particular the area of low eroded arable land (16.8%), and medium and highly eroded land (22.1%). Due to erodibility of soil, about 23.3% of agricultural land transferred from the category of high and medium quality to medium, low and very low quality, which is caused by the loss of soil fertility of up to 70%, crop losses of up to 1.93 Mg∙ha–1 ha–1 and eduction of agricultural income up to 390 USD∙ha–1. In the steppe region under the research, gross crop losses from erosion were up to 15.11 thous. Mg∙ha–1 (3.05 mln USD). In order to protect soils, improve fertility and increase crop yields in the steppe zone in Ukraine, the following measures were suggested: adaptive and landscape erosion control design with elements of conservation farming in accordance with the spatial differentiation of soil quality and extent of water erosion deflation danger.

Opis:
ZimbarFuture orientation (FO) expresses interpersonal differences affecting the creation of attitudes and behaviour in many life areas. FO is a prerequisite of sustainability, which requires considering environmental consequences for future generations. This study compared two primary measures of FO; Zimbardo’s Future Time Perspective (F-ZTP) and the Consideration of Future Consequences Scale (CFC), in the environmental context. While higher values of CFC predicted significantly higher levels of environmental variables, higher values of F-ZTP did not predict higher levels, and in some cases even predicted significantly lower levels of environmental variables. We suggest that FO is multidimensional, that different constructs capture different dimensions of FO and when temporal conflict involve social conflicts, as in most environmental conflicts, an inconsistency between the predictabilities of the constructs may emerge, revealing a conflict between the “futures” people are orienting at.

Opis:
Hans Christoph Binswanger was one of the most prominent Swiss and European economists. He made attempts to diagnose the contemporary socio-economic and ecological situation in highly developed countries. He proposed 'the idea of moderation' in economic and social activities. The modern economy is based on coercion and pressure on economic growth. More and more speculative bubbles are created and their 'bursting' leads to financial and economic crises. H.Ch. Binswanger pointed to the possibility of overcoming crises and entering the path of a sustainable economy: one which does not shy away from altering the mode of its functioning. Irenäus Eibl-Eibesfeldt was a prominent contemporary Austrian biologist, interested in studying the behaviour of humans and animals. In addition to his numerous biological studies, I. Eibl-Eibesfeldt was also the author of socio-philosophical research concerning the basic problems of economics, economy, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The role of man in nature and society is changing rapidly. An important problem of modern society is the time perspective in the processes of biological evolution and the functioning of human society. Biology also emphasises the phylogenetic basis of social actions. The current economic and political situation does not live up to the ideas of economic liberalism. The most negative effects of short-term thinking can be seen, for instance, in agriculture, industry and migration policies. It has become necessary to abandon short-term thinking and devise a long-term development strategy, a survival ethos for future generations. Both H.Ch. Binswanger and I. Eibl-Eibesfeldt contributed to the development of the concept of sustainability and to identifying its problems.
