In the paper a probabilistic model of environmental risk of ship power plant is presented. This is a linear strategy model with an additional restraint. It can be usedfor assessing risk to marine environment, which results from ship power plant operation. The risk is a sum of component probabilities of exceedance of the limits assigned - by MARPOL convention to particular kinds of pollution discharged from ships, multiplied by weight factors. The factors determine a degree of harmfulness of a discharge for the environment. The restraint concerns the case of exceedance of the limits assumed unacceptable by the convention. A risk value is be contained within (0,1) interval. Moreover a criterion for environmental safety of ship power plant was propsed. This is the criterion of the ALARP class, in which an intolerable risk level and acceptable one is distinguished. Suggestions concerning determination of the levels are submitted. The considerations are illustrated by results of example computer investigations of influence of reliability oftechnical elements of the systems responsible for environmental safety of a hypothetical ship power plant on environmental risk value. Three qualification levels of ship:s. crew were accounted for: high, average and low.

In the last few decades there have been significant changes in single-family housing in rural areas. More and more new buildings are being built, many are being renovated or thermomodernized. This activity generates a number of waste that, if not managed properly, can have a negative impact on the natural environment. This article analyses ways of waste management generated during the erection of new buildings, renovations and reconstruction. The aim of the research presented in the study was to identify trends in the manner of construction waste management in the last thirty years in rural areas of the Czestochowa district. The substantive basis for the research were CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) surveys carried out among investors and contractors of construction works in the analysed area. On their basis, indicators illustrating changes in the manner of management individual types of waste were estimated. It was found that positive changes occurred in this area during the analysed period. Primarily, the scale of activities having a clearly negative impact on the environment and the safety of life of residents decreased significantly. Processes such as uncontrolled burning or burying waste in the ground have been reduced from over 40% to around 13.5%. The reason for these positive trends is primarily the increasing ecological awareness of rural residents, high fines for the illegal removal of waste, as well as in the case of waste other than construction, the obligation to have waste containers. Currently, positive environmental activities such as selective waste collection and transfer to specialized companies increased from around 2.5% to over 50%.

This paper addresses the protection of the environment and provides a design for the use of the deposit after the cessation of mining in the Novoveská Huta region. The area of interest of this case study describes the practical transformation of a functioning mining operation into a mining museum in order to reduce the pressures on the environment after mining. The resulting model of the functioning of the mining museum also deals in detail with the safety of a mining operation which is no longer used for mining, taking into account its further use. The article describes the proposed 1700-metre route which visitors will pass along, and also gives a detailed description of the proposed measures necessary for safety and long-term sustainable operation. The aim was to design a use of the mining space, that would offer visitors the opportunity to see the handling space and mining methods of the deposit. An interesting element will also be the possibility of inspecting the explosives store, wall linings, steel and wooden reinforcements. The tour will also include a demonstration of storage facilities as well as a Karlik's wheel mining equipment with a rope loop. The open-air museum also offers the opportunity to get acquainted with transport around the entire deposit under strict safety conditions. It is assumed that devices such as a mining telephone or a siren placed on the walls of the tunnel will also arouse interest. An important element of the entire tour would also be a constant reminder of the safety rules during the tour. The impacts of this solution on the environment are very acceptable and incomparably more beneficial than in the case of the termination of mining and subsequent non-use of the Novoveská Huta deposit.

At the present time, there are many abandoned areas and places that are affected by extraction activity, but which continue to be of importance due to valuable mineral resources. This article deals with environmental protection for their future use in terms of potential mineral resources. The area of Ruskov in Eastern Slovakia is typical with its rich deposits of andesite. Currently, there is no extraction activity at the site. The problem is related to effectively securing and protecting the environment for future use. The aim of the article is to indicate the possibilities for securing and protecting the area. The procedure can be applied universally to similar types of areas. According to the physical and chemical analysis of the water sample, the water in the quarry is of a basic high magnesium-bicarbonate type. The total mineralization 375 mg/l, pH – 8.4, content of Na – 13.4 mg/l, Ca – 41.1 mg/l, Mg – 26.2 mg/l, Fe – 0.04 mg/l, Mn – 0.012 mg/l and in the hydrogeological investigation the mineralization of precipitation water ranged from 25.8 to 48.0 mg/l, pH 6.0-6 6. From the comparison of values for inflows to the pit of the old Ruskov quarry and the values of groundwater runoff in the volcanic massif, we can state that only a part (approx. 50%) of groundwater from the volcanic massif is involved in the inflow to the quarry. The greater part of the underground runoff flows in the local sub-system to the local erosion base, which is represented by the valley of the Bystré stream, or it joins the flow of the intermediate stream (Olšava valley, erosion base). In the previous extraction activity in the Old Quarry of Ruskov, as well as after it was flooded in August 2014, no adverse effects on the flow and groundwater regime were observed in the evaluated area. Based on the previous evaluation of the hydrogeological conditions of the area, we can state that after the interruption of extraction at the Ruskov – old quarry deposit and the termination of pumping of quarry water, there is no expected adverse influence on the flow and groundwater regime in the evaluated area.

The main aim of this paper is to present the general safety analytical models of complex multistate technical systems related to their operation processes including operating environment threats. In the case of critical infrastructure, the determination of its safety function and its risk function, which graph corresponds to the fragility curve are defined. Moreover, its mean lifetime up to the exceeding a critical safety state and the moment when its risk function value exceeds the acceptable safety level and the critical infrastructure and its components intensities of degradation and the coefficients of operation process including operating environment threats influence on the critical infrastructure and its components intensities of degradation are introduced as the other significant safety indicators. The proposed models are given for multistate series, parallel, “m out of n”, consecutive “m out of n: F”, series-parallel, parallel-series, series-“m out of k”, “mi out of li”-series, seriesconsecutive “m out of k: F” and consecutive “mi out of li”: F”-series systems.

The article describes interference affecting the operation of radiolocation and radionavigation devices used in the air traffic surveillance systems, caused by the proximity of building structures. The impact of a hypothetical structure on the operation of primary and secondary air traffic surveillance radars and DVOR/DME beacons was simulated. The results of this simulation are presented in the form of airspace sectors in which false identification of aircraft may occur, and where it will not be possible to identify aircraft or use beacons due to the certain portion of airspace being in the shadow created by the structure. Analysis of the possibility of the PSR radar receiver being blocked by a strong signal reflected from a nearby building was performed as well.

The main aim of the article is to define the importance of occupational safety and health for employees. The importance of work safety with the advent of the virus pandemic (COVID-19) has once again become a topic of conversation. The article identifies the conditions of health and safety in the group of employee objectives. For this purpose, a study among the employees of manufacturing companies was conducted. The research results showed the growing importance of occupational safety and health to employed people, which occurred to be even more important than a satisfactory salary, which could be influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

W artykule omówiono jeden z aspektów przeprowadzonej przy pomocy metody LCA szerokiej oceny środowiskowej zasilacza komputerowego jako wyrobu elektrycznego. W ramach zagadnienia wykonano wiele badań wyrobu w ujęciu cyklu życia w celu określenia wywieranych przez wyrób presji środowiskowych, zidentyfikowania ich źródeł, a także określenia kluczowych zależności środowiskowych istotnych dla wyrobu. W ramach niniejszego artykułu zbadano uwarunkowania legislacyjne wpływające na rozwój produktu i wynikające bezpośrednio z nich zmiany wprowadzone w budowie wyrobu. Wyniki tej analizy stanowią podstawę wyszczególnienia wariantów wyrobu i związku ich konstrukcji i parametrów z przepisami prawa, a także oceny wpływu środowiskowego wprowadzonych zmian. Scharakteryzowano także zmiany wynikające z drogi doskonalenia jakości produktu i dostosowania jego projektu do nowych wymagań użytkowych, które wyszczególniono w przedstawionych wariantach wyrobu. Przy pomocy badań scenariuszowych i metody oceny szkód środowiskowych Impact'2002+ porównano owe warianty oraz dokonano oceny wywieranego przez nie wpływu na środowisko. Zweryfikowano obrany kierunek rozwoju wyrobu w kontekście korzyści środowiskowych w całym cyklu życia.
The article discusses one of the aspects of the computer power supply extensive environmental assessment as an electrical product, using the LCA method. Within the framework, a series of product tests in life cycle terms were performed, in order to determine the environmental pressures exerted by the product, identify their sources, as well as determine the key environmental relationships relevant to the product. As part of this article, the legislative conditions affecting product development and the direct changes introduced in the construction of the product were examined. The results of this analysis are the basis for specifying the product variants and the relationship between their construction and parameters and legal provisions, as well as the environmental impact assessment of the changes introduced. The changes resulting from the way of improving product quality and adapting its design to the new usage requirements, which are detailed in the variants of the product, were also characterized. With the help of scenario studies and the Impact'2002+ environmental damage assessment method, these variants and their environmental impacts were compared. It was verified whether the chosen product development direction brings environmental benefits throughout the whole life cycle.

Osiągnięcie zrównoważonego systemu transportu w Europie wiąże się z koniecznością wprowadzania innowacyjnych rozwiązań, które wspomogą mobilność i będą miały pozytywny wpływ na wzrost gospodarczy i zatrudnienie w Europie. W odniesieniu do zrównoważonego transportu drogowego aspekty bezpieczeństwa mają być zharmonizowane z wymogami środowiska i ekonomii. Praca obejmuje krótkie przedstawienie istoty koncepcji zrównoważonego transportu i trendów występujących w zrównoważonym rozwoju transportu drogowego. Zinwentaryzowane zostały uwarunkowania postrzegania przestrzeni, w szczególności przestrzeni transportu drogowego, które odgrywa decydującą rolę z uwagi na bezpieczeństwo ruchu. Percepcja przestrzeni transportu drogowego jest kompleksową współzależnością fizycznych i socjalnych czynników, poszczególnych indywidualności i grup społecznych, jest interaktywna i dynamiczna. Zaprezentowano modele teoretyczne procesu percepcji środowiska i metody pomiaru percepcji w bezpieczeństwie dróg. Analizy teoretyczne i przegląd stosowanych metod badawczych potwierdzają kolosalną rolę innowacyjnych metod wizualizacji przestrzeni transportu, umożliwiających analizę percepcji bezpieczeństwa proponowanych rozwiązań w procesie wdrażania zrównoważonego transportu drogowego.
Achievement of sustainable transport system in Europe is connected with necessity of implementation of innovative solutions supporting mobility and with positive impact on the economical growth and employment in Europe. In terms of sustainable road transport aspects of safety are to be harmonized with needs of environment and economy. This article includes short presentation of the idea of sustainable transport and trends appearing in sustainable road transport. Perception of the space conditions, especially the road transport space, which plays leading role because of the traffic safety have been reviewed. Perception of the space of road transport is a complex correlation of physical and social factors, specific individuals and groups – is interactive and dynamic. Theoretical models of the perception of the environment process have been presented as well as assessment methods of the perception of the roads safety. Theoretical analyses and review on popular research methods confirms significant role of innovative methods of visualization of the transport space enabling analyses of the safety perception of proposed solutions in the process of implementation of the sustainable road transport.

Sytuacja ekologiczna w Polsce jest jednocześnie kreowana jak i oceniana w ramach polityki ekologicznej państwa. Rząd dysponuje narzędziami, które poddają diagnozie stan środowiska przyrodniczego kraju a następnie na jej podstawie tworzy odpowiednie instrumenty modelujące i modyfikujące działania jednostek i grup społecznych zarówno na poziomie gospodarstw domowych, jak i na poziomie administracyjnym czy gospodarczym. Instrumenty te, to przede wszystkim ustawy i rozporządzenia wdrażane przez powołane do tego instytucje. Ich działanie kontrolowane jest przez monitoring środowiska, który analizuje jego jakość za pomocą adekwatnych indeksów dotyczących stanu wód, gleb, powietrza itp. a także odbioru społecznego tego stanu. Artykuł podsumowuje problematykę z perspektywy wymagań unijnej polityki rozwoju zrównoważonego oraz instytucjonalnych i programowych rozwiązań wdrażanych w Polsce.
Ecological situation in Poland is at the same time directed and evaluated in frames ofecological policy of the state. Government use tools which diagnose a state of natural environment and then on these basis create apprioprate instruments: acts and regulations. They model and modify individual and groups' activities at home, administrative and economic level and are incorporated by appointed institutions. Their actions are controlled by monitoring of environment that analysis its quality by adequate indexes. They apply to state of water, air or soil along with social perception of this state. This paper approches the problem from a perspective of EU regulations referring to sustainable developmentand along with institutional and programme solutions incorporated in Poland.

W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe zagadnienia związane z kulturą bezpieczeństwa. Ponadto, znajdują się informacje na temat czynników określających pożądaną i niepożądaną, dobrą i złą kulturę bezpieczeństwa oraz najważniejsze wiadomości dotyczące kształtowania kultury bezpieczeństwa. W części empirycznej zbadane zostały takie elementy modelu kształtowania kultury bezpieczeństwa jak: środowisko i warunki pracy oraz zachowania i postawy pracowników.
This article presents basic issues related to safety culture. In addition, there is information about the factors determining the desirable and undesirable, good and bad safety culture and the most important news about a culture of safety. In the empirical part, such elements have been examined a model of safety culture as the environment and working conditions, and the behavior and attitudes of employees.
