    Opis:
    René Girard’s Mimetic Theory has put forward a very compelling toolbox whose hermeneutical valour we are willing to test by reading Heidegger’s ontological wandering in the semantic constellation of Being. Finding a lead in Heidegger’s reading of Œdipus’ peripeties as presented in Sophocles’ Œdipus Rex, we will try to translate the fundamental notions of Heidegger’s critique of metaphysics into Girard’s jargon to see if any clarity is gained. It is time to go after Heidegger, both as in following him in his own wandering but also as in chasing him, out of his Holzwege, and eventually go further. Hopefully, some of the obscurities of Heidegger’s text will find in this perspective a new light, without losing any of its fascination.

    Liczne wydarzenia i zjawiska, w tym rozwój e-commerce, zagrożenia atakami terrorystycznymi i internacjonalizacja przestępczości zorganizowanej, zmieniły otoczenie, w którym działają organy celne. Uzyskały one wiodącą rolę w łańcuchu dostaw, są też w głównej mierze odpowiedzialne za nadzór nad międzynarodową wymianą handlową UE. Stanowią niejako pierwszą „zaporę” na granicy, chroniącą przed napływem towarów niebezpiecznych i niepożądanych czy przed nielegalnym handlem. Ze względu na swój udział w monitorowaniu i zarządzaniu handlem międzynarodowym, organy celne mają również przyczyniać się do poprawy konkurencyjności europejskich przedsiębiorstw przez modernizację metod pracy służb celnych, eliminację papierowej formy dokumentów i stworzenie paneuropejskiego środowiska elektronicznego, wprowadzenie ułatwień dla legalnej wymiany handlowej, przy jednoczesnej kontroli, zwłaszcza przesyłek wysokiego ryzyka. Ta nowa rola organów celnych – wiodąca rola w łańcuchu dostaw i ułatwianie legalnego handlu, a przez to poprawa konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw i gospodarek – oznacza nowe zadania i priorytety. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie zadań organów celnych w zakresie szeroko rozumianej ochrony w transgranicznym ruchu towarowym i działań na rzecz zapewnienia jego bezpieczeństwa.
    Numerous events and developments, including the development of e-commerce, the threat of terrorist attacks and the internationalization of organized crime have changed the environment in which customs authorities operate. Giving them a leading role in the supply chain are also largely responsible for the supervision of the EU’s international trade. They are the fi rst “fi rewall” at the border to protect against dangerous, unwanted goods, or against illegal trade. Because of their participation in the monitoring and management of international trade, the customs authorities shall also contribute to improving the competitiveness of European companies by modernizing working methods of customs services, eliminating paper form of documents and the creation of a pan-European electronic environment. This new role of customs authorities – a leading role in the supply chain and facilitating legitimate trade, thereby improving the competitiveness of enterprises and economies – it means new tasks and priorities. The aim of the study is to present the tasks of customs authorities in the broadest sense of protection in cross-border trade and measures to ensure its security.

    W dociekaniach filozoficznych Rodericka M. Chisholma (1916–1999) myśl Leibniza zdaje się odgrywać rolę szczególną. W niniejszym tekście skupiam się na drobnym wycinku metafizycznego dorobku Chisholma, w którym inspiracje Leibnizjańskie są najłatwiejsze do identyfikacji. Przedstawiam, po pierwsze, zręby Chisholmowej doktryny metafizycznej na temat osoby i tożsamości osobowej, po drugie, wyliczam i analizuję te elementy wspomnianej doktryny, które czerpią swe inspiracje z myśli Leibniza, po trzecie zaś, wskazuję zasadnicze różnice pomiędzy Chisholmem i Leibnizem w kwestii tożsamości osobowej. Ponieważ dokładne ustalenia na temat wpływu koncepcji Leibniza na doktrynę Chisholma w odniesieniu do tożsamości osobowej wymagałyby dodatkowych, żmudnych badań historycznych, wyniki przedstawione w niniejszym tekście powinny być traktowane jedynie jako hipotezy robocze.

    The author compares the views of Étienne Gilson, Jacques Maritain, and Thomas Aquinas on the order in our knowledge of being. While Gilson and Maritain maintain that esse and the actus essendi are what are first known, Aquinas maintains consistently that it is the existent thing or the ens itself that is first known. The paper proceeds by first laying out the positions of Gilson and Maritain as evidenced in their respective works Being and Some Philosophers and Existence and the Existent. Then, it manifests what in their positions is correct and in what they err. And finally, it argues that ens is the first thing known by appealing to the proper object of the intellect, the order between the acts of the intellect, and the intellect’s mode of procedure. In the course of these arguments, the primary authoritative sources used are the works of Aquinas.

    While there is an absence of treatises devoted to the question of ens ut primum cognitum, there is no shortage of brief and implicit treatments; indeed, nearly every Thomist of the past seven centuries seems to have at least something to say about the notion that being is the first of our intellectual conceptions. Most recent Thomist thinkers—including Gilson—assume this ens to be nothing other than the ens reale of things entitatively considered, operating as they do out of a framework within which realism and idealism are presumed to be exhaustive and mutually exclusive attempts to answer the question of human knowledge. It is the intent of this essay to examine how Gilson arrives at his position, which he calls “metaphysical realism,” and to point to some of the difficulties it entails.

    Opis:
    Actinoplanes missouriensis cells containing glucose isomerase were immobilized on collagen by the method of macromolecular complexation. The properties of the obtained complex were compared with those of the enzyme in free cells. Glucose was isomerized by the continuous method in a reactor.
    Unieruchamiano na kolagenie komórki mikroorganizmu Actinoplanes missouriensis metodą makromolekularnej kompleksacji zawierające izomerazę glukozową. Określano właściwości uzyskanego kompleksu w stosunku do enzymu zawartego w komórkach wolnych oraz prowadzono izomeryzację glukozy w reaktorze w układzie ciągłym. Stwierdzono, że makromolekularna kompleksacja zapewniała wiązanie komórek z nośnikiem. Optymalne s tężenie aldehydu glutarowego podczas unieruchamiania powinno wynosić 0,5% w stosunku do użytego nośnika (rys. 2, tab. 1). Izomeraza glukozowa zawarta w unieruchomionych komórkach wskazywała optimum działania w temp. 73°C zaś w wolnych w 65°C (rys. 3). Optymalne pH działania izomerazy glukozowej zawartej w unieruchomionych komórkach występowało przy 7,8 zaś w wolnych przy 7,5 (rys. 4). Inkubacja unieruchomionego w komórkach enzymu, w temp. 90°C powodowała 22% straty aktywności w porównaniu z 55% strat aktywności, enzymu w komórkach wolnych (rys. 5). Temperatura przechowywania w 4 °C powodowała niższe o ok. 10% straty aktywności izomerazy glukozowej w komórkach wolnych i unieruchomionych w porównaniu z przechowywanymi w temp. 25°C. Preparaty unieruchomione miały średnio o ok. 20%o wyższe straty aktywności enzymatycznej w porównaniu z wolnymi przechowywanymi w analogicznych warunkach (tab. 2). Czas pobytu „T" odgrywał dużą rolę w kształtowaniu produktywności i stopniu izomeryzacji glukozy i jego optymalna wartość wynosiła 1,0 min (rys. 6). Podczas 400 h prowadzenia ciągłej izomeryzacji glukozy w reaktorze enzymatycznym, straty aktywności enzymu wynosiły ok. 23%, stopień fruktozy l⁻¹ min⁻¹ (rys. 7). Powietrze dostające się do złoża wypełniającego reaktor wywierało ujemny wpływ na aktywność izomerazy glukozowe j (rys. 8).

    This presentation - following, as closely as possible, the book of Pierre Aubenque “Do we have/need to deconstruct the metaphysics? / Faut’il déconstruire la métaphysique?” (PUF Paris 2009) - will be focused just on Gilson’s doctrine: on some, « in a sense, deconstructing approaches » which, according to Aubenque, Gilson (as a metaphysician and as an historian of metaphysics, knowingly or not…) put in fact in practice… The « sense of deconstructing approaches » in question (let us say: the « what-why-when-which way… in singular or in plural, of the practiced deconstruction ») will not be fixed-made explicit at the beginning, but, step by step, will become more and more clear all along the study… Inevitably, the screening of deconstruction practiced here, will put in evidence « its reverse side » - namely, what, within metaphysics, is - can (must?) be - a matter for « construction »… During his screening, Aubenque approaches Gilson on the background of continuous confrontation with Heidegger, punctual confrontation with Bergson; and, in some proximity with Descartes and Kant (tacit-unspoken and what’s more, a bit undecided between them both)… The presentation will finish-culminate with/in a series of global-essential conclusions: Aubenque’s conclusions, related to Gilson, to Heidegger, to convergences-divergences between them; and mines, related to his (especially, to the limitations-confusions-discrepancies… in his own approach) …

    The aim of the article is to present the role of the phenomenon of hope in the philosophy of education of Wojciech Chudy. The contemporary philosophies of hope, of G. Marcel, P. Ricoeur and personalistic thought of J. Tischner and John Paul II, are the background of the discussion. Ontic and axiological basis of hope might be found in the structure of a man. Hope is built upon the personal features of: potential, contingency, transcendence, connected with the temporal dimension of life – constant inclination towards future and absolute values. It is also rooted in features of dignity, ability to discover and choose the truth, which are realized in acts of love. They make the upbringing of a man “the work on the human hope” that aims to attain the plenitude of personal development by the subjects of educational relation. It is realized by the effort of self-education, motivated by the testimony of the educator, emerging in the attitudes of dialogue and encounter. The hope has its special meaning in the border situations of the human existence (suffering, illness, death). It enables to discover their sense and directs towards eschatological perspective of the ultimate hope of the eternal life. The phenomenon of hope, expressed in the philosophical-pedagogic thought of Wojciech Chudy, brings the positive view on life and development of a man, which becomes the motive of undertaking pedagogical actions.

    The author presents and compares Maritain’s and Aquinas’s accounts of our discovery (1) of being as existing; and (2) of being as being (ens inquantum ens or the subject of metaphysics). He finds that especially in his final discussion of how one discovers being as being, Maritain’s account suffers greatly from the absence of any appeal to Aquinas’s negative judgment of separation and also from the omission of reference to the role of judgments of existence in one’s discovery of a premetaphysical notion of being. Wippel finds no evidence in Aquinas’s texts for Maritain’s defense of an intuition of being or of existence.
