Opis:
Recent works aimed to investigate geotechnical properties of Transitional Group A-2-7 (TGA-2-7) soil affected by the use of hydrated lime and fly ash class F, by-products from quarries and a cement factory in Jordan, to compensate for the gap in the granular distribution. Host soil was exposed to various proportions of fly ash and lime powder. The blended specimens were subjected to different tests related to index properties, including Atterberg limits, compaction properties and California bearing ratio. The results demonstrate that 2% fly ash led to a reduction in the plasticity index from 19% to 10%, while lime powder reduced it from 19% to 13%. A sufficient improvement of maximum dry density was observed at 20% lime addition and increased from 15.11 kN/m3 to 16.29 kN/m3. California bearing ratio that measures the strength soil linearly increased up to 10% induced by 20% lime addition.

Opis:
The h-index concept has been analysed in aspects of a contemporary tendency of parameterisation of everything and as the potential measure of the knowledge progress, which recognises individuals, institutions and Engineering sub-disciplines that best generate new knowledge. Considerations have been presented at the level of universality of knowledge which implies permanent progress and on the base of careful thoughts of the domestic experience. The h-nature of things has been described, and several axiomatic characterisations of the Hirsch index have been gathered. The mechanism how to increase the h-index has been presented. Some similarities between h-index and the journal impact factor (JIF) have been stressed. Also the universal role of H-index in ranking countries in all areas and in Engineering has been exampled in extended tables. The Glänzel’s model which connects the h-index with two fundamental scientometric indicators: number of publications and the rate of citation, has been analysed. Following the Microsoft Academic Search, the lists of 15 top scientists from various academic disciplines and separately in Engineering have been composed. It has been found that the population of the best keeps basically the same relations between the h-index and a number of publication, and between the h-index and a citation number. However, even the best in Engineering should publish 2 times a year or more papers to receive the same h-index as top scientists in overall domains. The h-index distribution of domestic Engineering sub-disciplines has been presented and analysed in statistic categories. The suitable hhistograms and the cumulative probability density function (CPDF) have been elaborated for 21 sub-disciplines and thereupon the Engineering sub-disciplines have been arranged into three clusters. It has been demonstrated that Engineering as the whole and Engineering sub-disciplines are underestimated, compared to other academic disciplines. The adequate normalisation factors have been suggested. Several other conclusions considered the h,H-indices as the measure of the knowledge progress addressed to individual researchers and to collective, e.g., journals, institutions, organisations, countries, adequately have been written. The h,H-indices are the general measure of the position of the given subject (person or organisation) but cannot be universal.

Opis:
Poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) is a biodegradable polymer which belongs to a group of aliphatic polyesters. PHBV is a thermoplast with a relatively high melt flow index. This property makes it difficult to process by means of extrusion. In the present study we have prepared PHBV blended with PLGA and determined its melt flow rate (MFR). The addition of PLGA decreased MFR, which enabled fabrication of three-dimensional scaffold by means of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).

Opis:
A turbulent manufacturing market, especially in the metal industry, determines the quality of products and the level of production efficiency, which contributes to a company's market position and competitiveness. The aim of the study was to develop a model to define a manufacturing company’s current market position using KPIs in relation to a key product - gearbox casting. The company's position was defined in terms of the relationship occurring between technological capabilities and market position. An additional aim of the study was to identify critical determinants and, ultimately, to identify conditions for strengthening market position. As a test of the proposed model, the position of the analysed company (in terms of technological capabilities and market position) was defined as “Search for occasions”- box 9 within the 3x3 matrix. Technological determinants that weaken the company’s position (low level of maintenance capacity and long production cycle time) and determinants with a strong negative impact on market position (low level of human resource development) were identified. An element of novelty is the use of KPIs as variables determining the position of the company within the3x3 matrix, which is indicative of a specific technological position in the market. Further lines of research will concern the determination of appropriate KPIs in relation to the identified critical areas of the company. Subsequent steps will concern the implications of the model in relation to the company’s other key aluminium alloy castings.

Opis:
The IMO has adopted Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) and Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator (EEOI) in order to reduce GHG emissions from international shipping. And, the shipping industry is required to develop and improve the energy saving ship operation technologies to meet the above IMO guideline. The weather routing is one of the energy saving navigation technologies and widely adopted by oceangoing merchant ships. The effectiveness of the weather routing mainly depends on the accuracy of weather forecast data and the ship’s propulsion performance prediction. The propulsion performance in the actual sea is usually predicted using the Self Propulsion Factors obtained by model tests. It is necessary to understand the propulsion performance characteristics in the actual sea conditions for the improvement of propulsion performance prediction. From the above points of view, the authors performed full‐scale experiments using a training ship in order to investigate the propulsion performance characteristics in the actual sea. This paper describes the analysis results on the characteristics of Power Curves and Self Propulsion Factors under various weather and sea conditions.

Opis:
Podstawowym nośnikiem energii w polskiej gospodarce jest węgiel kamienny. Ze względu na tak wysoki udział w bilansie energetycznym ważnym jest zagwarantowanie stabilnych i przewidywalnych cen tego surowca. Dlatego też dla rynku wewnętrznego Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A. i Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. postanowiły utworzyć Polskie Indeksy Rynku Węgla Energetycznego PSCMI. W artykule omówiono indeksy dla węgla sprzedawanego na krajowym rynku dla energetyki (PSCMI 1) i ciepłownictwa (PSCMI 2). Omówiono również trendy cenowe i analizę zmian cen dla tych indeksów.
Coal is the primary energy carrier in the Polish economy. Due to such a high share of the energy balance, it is important to guarantee stable and predictable prices of this raw material. Therefore, for the internal market, the Industrial Development Agency S.A. And Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. They decided to set up the Polish Index of PSCMI Energy Market. The indices for carbon sold on the domestic market for energy (PSCMI 1) and district heating (PSCMI 2) are discussed. Price trends and price developments for these indices are also discussed.
