Opis:
Introduction. Studies investigating the determinants of physical endurance were initiated nearly 30 years ago. The research was inspired by the curiosity to find out about the nature of talent for sport and why some athletes are better than others, despite the same or even greater effort in training routine, diet and the supplementation. An attempt was therefore made to determine the genotype of a perfect athlete, but conducted research showed that it is a very difficult task. Although 140 genes were proposed to affect of ideal sportsman fitness, scientists are still far from formulating answers about the nature of physical abilities and genotype. Aim. Our main goal was to review the literature about the selected genes and polymorphisms which are most often investigated in the context in relation to injury in sports. Materials and methods. Analysis of literature from US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, PubMED, Google Scholar. Results. We review the selected genes and polymorphisms which are most often investigated in the context in relation to injury in sports, we also present the function of genetic variants prevalent in athletes which are able to achieve better physiological adaptation during the training. Conclusions. There are probably more than 140 genes involved in physical performance. Changes in even one nucleotide within the gene (SNP) can improve the body’s adaptation to better physical performance and the frequency of injury to athletes.

Opis:
Introduction: Live high-train high (LHTH) is suggested to improve performance, especially maximal aerobic capacity through the hypoxic adaptation responses. The present study aims to determine the impact of LHTH protocol on cardio-respiratory variables, lactate response, iron profile indices, and lung function capacities to the performance enhancement of middle-long distance (MLD) runners. Methods: Seven MLD runners were trained LHTH for six weeks at 8000ft altitude. Cardio-respiratory variables (V̇O2max, VO2/HR, VEmax, HR response), lactate response, iron profile indices (Hb, iron, UIBC, TIBC, transferrin, EPO, ferritin), and lung function parameters (FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, PEF, and VC) were measured via standard protocols. Result: Hemoglobin (Hb, 7.8%), iron concentration (36.7%), and TIBC (8.2%) were found to be significantly increased after LHTH. On the other hand, V̇O2max (6.4%) and PEF (10.7%) were found to be significantly (p < 0.05) increased after camp. But HRrest (1.8%), HRrec (5min and 10min with 2.3% and 4.7% respectively), and lactate peak (7.9%) significantly decreased after LHTH condition. Discussion: All participating athletes improved performances after LHTH (overall group improved by 1.7%, individual increase up to 2.6%). Specific training load with hypoxic stress at high altitude induces peripheral chemoreceptor activation and stimulates sympathetic drive to initiate adaptive cascade leading to V̇O2max improvement (improved group mean 6.4%, individually up to 16.7%) which might be supported by enhanced erythropoiesis, iron metabolism, Hb concentrations, peak expiratory flow, glycolytic enzyme activity, enhanced oxidative capacity, improved resting and recovery HR response and peak lactate tolerance.

Opis:
Lactate threshold (LT) estimation in endurance sports continues to be a widely controversial field amongst sports scientists and students despite beyond 50 years of research. With the advent of technology and superior sensors, LT research has ventured into newer fields involving wearables and artificial intelligence. Still, there is a felt need to understand the focused areas of LT research and to guide the students, sports scientists and coaches. The main aim of this mini-review is to identify research categories in a descriptive manner and to synthesize broad themes for future research from latest literature. A comprehensive electronic search in three databases was performed including only original free full text research articles conducted in athletes and heathy subjects, published in English between 2016 and 2020 following PRISMA guidelines. Out of screened 466 articles, 14 articles were finally shortlisted as per inclusion criteria and the findings were summarized. Five research categories were identified and reviewed. To conclude, there is a need for consensus in Graded Exercise test protocols used, LT concepts validity for specific sports and the application of valid, reliable noninvasive LT estimation methods in endurance sports. Synthesized broad themes would help guide sports scientists, students and researchers for future research.

Opis:
The paper highlights the classification of the quality parameters of the surface layer and their influence on the performance characteristics of machine parts, such as wear resistance, long-term and endurance strength, as well as the influence of quality parameters of the surface layer on the performance characteristics subject to the operating conditions (various temperatures and loads). The paper expounds the impact of machining conditions on the formation of surface layer quality indices and provides calculated dependences for the determination of surface layer quality parameters.
