The aim of this paper is to comment the links between the work of Louis-Sébastien Mercier, The Year 2440: A Dream If Ever The Was One, and narrative utopia model. The Mercier’s work is often considered as inventive fiction which presents a new type of utopia focused on the future, but a large number of traditional narrative strategies is used by the author to show Paris in 25th century. The future civilization is built on the Enlightenment ideas but it remains still attached by its culture to the 18th century. The Mercier’s work is inspired by the utopism but in this fiction the reader finds more a fictional realization of dreams and philosophical thinking about human nature.

This paper deals with the discursive phenomenon of reflexivity in the epic poetryof South Slavic romantic poets around the middle of the 19th century. Reflection is here understood as a kind of poetic self-formation procedure of romantic literary subject and his efforts to renovate epic mode in its original form. Starting with concept of “epic Romanticism”, in a way specific to South Slavic literatures, the author proceeds by distinguishing basic modes: explicit, implicit, and intertextual reflexivity. While the first two are related to typical romantic affectivity (D. Demeter, F. Prešeren) and/or rhetoric identification with oral folk rhapsodists’ tradition (P. P. Njegoš), the third one is marked with so-called “integration story” (I. Mažuranić), or mise en abyme, i.e. “the mirror in the text” effect as a medium of artistic auto-perspectivization and possible creative invention which leads to indications of the early pro-modern poetic procedures.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the fatigue resistance of austenitic nodular cast iron and to compare it with other types of nodular cast irons. The austenitic nodular cast iron, used for the experiments, was alloyed by 13% nickel and 7% manganese (EN-GJSA-XNiMn13-7) to obtain an austenitic matrix. The microstructure was studied using light metallographic microscopy. Mechanical properties were investigated by tensile test, impact bending test and Brinell hardness test. Fatigue tests were carried out at sinusoidal cyclic push-pull loading at ambient temperature. The results of fatigue tests were compared with the fatigue properties of ferrite-pearlitic nodular cast iron and pearlite-ferritic nodular cast iron. Experimental results show that NiMn-type of austenitic nodular cast iron has lower tensile strength and hardness, but higher elongation and absorbed energy than the compared types of nodular cast iron. However, austenitic nodular cast iron has lower fatigue limit.

Opis:
In the last 30 years there has been an increased interest among researchers in the problem of self-translation, particularly in the context of novel translation. The aim of the following paper is to present the challenges of self-translation in a context of dramatic texts. The corpus of analysis for this article will be three plays written by bilingual artists who are rooted in Western Canadian provinces – Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The analysis of the fragments of the originals compared with the self-translated versions of the plays: “La Trahison/The Betrayal” by Laurier Gareau (2004) “La Maculée/sTain” by Madeleine Blais-Dahlem (2012) and Marc Prescott’s “Fort Mac” (2009) will allow us to determine the characteristics of self-translation of each of these “privileged translators”.

“The subjective […] surrounds the objective” This statement by G. Lanson (Lanson 1919: 113) seems to fit in perfectly with the line of argument of the present analysis, while remaining a valid indication for the university literature teacher in contemporary neo-philological studies. It should be noted that students often start learning French when they enter university. What is the place of literature studies, then? The choice is not obvious for teachers faced with the reserve of non-readers of literature, on the one hand, and the demands of academic excellence, on the other. In a socio-cultural context aimed primarily at the currently recognised horizontal dimension of knowledge, the question arises as to whether and to what extent it is possible to adopt a scientific reading perspective, such as that sought by neo-philological studies. It seems that the search for the personal engagement among FLE students, leading them to discover the similar experiences to their own that the fictional world presents, can be seen as a firs step towards the appreciation of literary foreign language studies.

Over the centuries, singing ensembles have occupied assorted liturgical locations in church space. Nowadays – pursuant to music-related church laws – they ought to occupy a place duly highlighting their special participation and purpose in liturgy. Singing group place[1]ment shall take account of its composition as well. The placement and purpose of signing ensembles alike have to be viewed in the context of Church traditions and laws. In terms of the nature and tasks assigned to specific singing groups in liturgy, they may be classified as the choir and schola cantorum, respectively. Mit dem Begriff der Transformation werden die sichtbaren Veränderungen in Gesellschaft und Kirche in Deutschlands charakterisiert. Der Beitrag gibt eine Einführung in ein Verständnis von Transformation und zeigt, in welchen (exemplarischen) pastoralen Herausforderungen diese sich konkret zeigen. Es wird verdeutlicht, dass eine Transformation nur über eine innere Haltungsänderung vollzogen werden kann, für die der Aufsatz pastorale Möglichkeiten nennt.
The term transformation is used to characterise the visible changes in the society and the church in Germany. The article gives an introduction to an understanding of transformation and shows in which (exemplary) pastoral challenges this is concretely manifested. It is made clear that transformation can only be achieved through an inner change of attitude, for which the article lists pastoral possibilities.

W pracy poruszono tematykę wykorzystania analizy przepływu CFD do wyznaczania obciążeń wiatru na konstrukcje. Przedstawiono analizę trzech modeli budynków o dachu dwuspadowym o różnych kątach nachylenia, dla których dokonano porównania wielkości współczynników parcia z wynikami dostępnymi w literaturze. Obliczenia analityczne wykonano zgodnie z normą z PN-EN 1991-1-4, natomiast obliczenia numeryczne wykonano w programie R-Wind Simulation. Całość wyników podsumowano, a wnioski sformułowano w odniesieniu do tematyki rozwiązania problemu szacowania wielkości obciążenia wiatru działającego na konstrukcję.
The paper addresses the use of CFD flow analysis to determine wind loads on structures. Three models of buildings with a gable roof with different angles of inclination were presented, for which the size of the pressure coefficients was compared with the results available in the literature. The analytical calculations were made in accordance with the PN-EN 1991-1-4 standard, while the numerical calculations were made in the R-Wind Simulation program. All the results were summarized and the conclusions were formulated in relation to the problem of solving the problem of estimating the size of the wind load acting on the structure.

Tematem artykułu jest twórczość Pablopavo, artysty piosenki, dla którego jednym z ważnych środków wyrazu jest autotematyzm. Termin ten, od dziesięcioleci rozpoznawany w badaniach literaturoznawczych, rzadko (lub prawie wcale) był dotąd rozpatrywany jako ważny element tekstów piosenek. W artykule znajdziemy liczne przykłady, które pokazują, jak na różne sposoby warszawski songwriter wykorzystuje autotematyzm, tworząc atrakcyjne konstrukcje paraliterackie. Dzięki takim zabiegom udaje się przekraczać ograniczenia gatunkowe piosenki, kierując przekaz w stronę literackości. Autotematyzm staje się chwytem, który pomaga budować porozumienie z odbiorcą ponad poziomem rozrywkowym. Dystans wobec formy, ironia, komizm służą ocaleniu autentyzmu przekazu, stawiając w centrum zainteresowania sam proces komunikacji, oparty przede wszystkim na języku.
The paper is devoted to the works of Pablopavo, a song artist for whom mise en abyme is an important means of expression. Although the term has been recognized in literature studies for decades, it has rarely been considered an important element of song lyrics. The paper discusses numerous examples which illustrate different ways in which Pablopavo uses mise en abyme, creating attractive paraliterary constructions, breaking the genre limitations of songs, directing the message towards literariness. Mise en abyme becomes a device which allows him to construct an understanding with the addressee which goes beyond entertainment. Distance from the form, irony, comicality help make the message authentic, situating the very process of communication, based mostly on language, at the center.

C’est un topique des écrits de Patrick Modiano que de partir sur les traces d’existences disparues. Mettant en scène un personnage qui tente de se ressaisir de son propre passé menacé par l’oubli, Chevreuse se comprend comme une variation sur thème. Il est toutefois singulier que la modalité de cette quête mémorielle soit introspective. Aussi s’agit-il d’explorer la manière dont la narration élabore une tension entre l’apparente lâcheté de l’intrigue qui se fait mimétique de l’expérience même de remémoration, et la tentative d’élaborer par l’écriture un réseau permettant aux souvenirs de faire sens les uns par rapport aux autres. Dans cette perspective, nous étudierons les deux valences de l’écriture qui embrasse les circonvolutions d’une mémoire lacunaire autant qu’elle se mue en instrument herméneutique ; puis nous montrerons qu’en dernière instance, cet ars memoriae se dote d’une poétique du rêve et de l’imagination afin de dépasser cette ambivalence et de procéder à la recréation mentale d’un monde disparu.
Following in the footsteps of vanished existences is one of the motifs of Patrick Modiano’s writings. Chevreuse is a variation on this theme, featuring a character who tries to recover his past threatened by oblivion. It is, however, singular that the modality of this memorial quest is introspective. This article will explore how the narrative navigates the tension between the apparent looseness of the plot, which becomes mimetic of the experience of remembering itself, and the attempt to create, by means of writing, a network allowing the memories to make sense of one another. From this perspective, we will study the two valences of the writing which embrace the convolutions of a lacunar memory on its becoming a hermeneutic instrument; then we will demonstrate that this ars memoriae endows itself with a poetics of dream and imagination to overcome this ambivalence and to proceed to the mental recreation of a disappeared world.

Joseph Roths 1927 publizierter Roman „Die Flucht ohne Ende“ liefert vor dem Hintergrund der im Ersten Weltkrieg zerfallenen Habsburger Monarchie und der Oktoberrevolution eine Diagnose der Krisen- und Kontingenzerscheinungen der Zwischenkriegszeit. Diese beiden weltgeschichtlich bedeutsamen Ereignisse führten zu einer Erosion altvertrauter und zur Entstehung neuer Lebenswelten. Ausgehend von den Begriffen ‚Kontingenz‘ und ‚Krise‘ zeigt der Beitrag, wie dieser Gegensatz von neuer und alter Welt, anhand ausgewählter Zeit-Raum-Konstellationen, literarisch ausgestaltet und vergegenwärtigt wird. Dabei wird deutlich, dass nicht nur die Lebenswelten, in denen der Protagonist Franz Tunda agiert, sondern auch dessen Lebensweg und -entwurf selbst hochgradig kontingent sind.
Opublikowana w 1927 roku powieść Josepha Rotha „Ucieczka bez kresu” kreśli diagnozę doświadczeń kryzysu i kontyngencji towarzyszących okresowi międzywojennemu, ukazaną na tle rozpadu monarchii habsburskiej i wydarzeń rewolucji październikowej. Oba przełomowe momenty dziejowe doprowadziły do erozji tradycyjnych światów życia i do zastąpienia ich nowymi. Opierając się na pojęciach ‘kontyngencji’ i ‘kryzysu’ artykuł pokazuje, jak zderzenie starego i nowego świata podlega literackiemu uformowaniu i zobrazowaniu przy pomocy wybranych konstelacji czasoprzestrzennych, wskutek czego uwidacznia się wysoki stopień kontyngencji nie tylko światów życia, w których porusza się główny bohater Franciszek Tunda, ale także jego życiowej drogi i egzystencjalnych wyborów.
Joseph Roth’s novel “Die Flucht ohne Ende”, published in 1927, provides a diagnosis of the crisis and contingency phenomena of the interwar period against the backdrop of the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy in World War I and the October Revolution. These two events of world-historical significance lead to an erosion of old familiar worlds and to the emergence of new ones. Starting from the concepts of ‘contingency’ and ‘crisis’, the article shows how this contrast between the new and the old world is literarily shaped and visualized on the basis of selected time-space constellations. In doing so, it becomes clear that not only the life worlds in which the protagonist Franz Tunda operates, but also his own life design is highly contingent.

Studie se zabývá třemi díly ostravského autora Miroslava Rafaje – románem Obtíže rovin a povídkovými soubory Zahrada po rodičích a Výzvy k soukromým slavnostem. Rozbor se soustřeďuje na zobrazení vesnice jako místa pro plnění pracovních úkolů a na motivaci jednání jednotlivých postav. Ve studii je užito take hledisko onomastické, které poukazuje na situování povídek do konkrétních lokalit. Dalším cílem článku je prověřit, zda Miroslav Rafaj splňoval dobové literární požadavky.
The study deals with three works by Ostrava-connected author Miroslav Rafaj – novel Obtíže rovin (Difficulties of Flatlands), and short-story collections Zahrada po rodičích (Inheriting My Parents’ Garden) and Výzvy k soukromým slavnostem (Appels for Private Celebrations). The analysis focuses on the depiction of villages as environments for fulfilling work tasks and on the motivations of individual characters’ actions. The paper makes use of the onomastic viewpoint, too, which points to the fact that the short-stories are set in particular areas. Another goal of the study is to research whether Miroslav Rafaj complied with the that-time fiction requirements.

Scandale et voyages vont de pair dans l’imagination d’August Strindberg, artiste plus que sulfureux qui débarque à Paris en délaissant sa famille pour plonger dans les cercles infernaux afin de lutter avec l’ange et de retrouver ainsi la foi perdue de son enfance. Il déçoit son public en se faisant alchimiste et peintre pour lutter contre les menaces du positivisme et de l’esthétisme académique. Sa quête est motivée par la figure du Christ que la sécularisation d’une fin-de-siècle vendue à l’industrialisation et au capital tourne en ridicule. Sous le masque de l’artiste-fou, il s’engage à renverser toutes les institutions établies, prônant un art de la fugue, affranchi des frontières de l’objectivité et de la subjectivité. Il perturbe, dérange, choque de sorte que son étrangeté le rejette du monde, lui assurant ainsi de suivre, par imitatio Christi, son propre chemin de croix. He disappoints his public by becoming an alchemist and painter in order to better fight against institutionalized positivism and academic aestheticism. Under the mask of madness, he overthrows all established institutions and blurs the boundaries between objectivity and subjectivity. He disrupts, disturbs, shocks; his strangeness seperates him from the world and assures him, by imitatio Christi, his own Way of the Cross: he internalizes the journey and walks erratic paths, convinced that loss is the path that leads to rebirth.

The paper presents the results of research aimed at comparing two stringer joining technologies of stiffened panels. Experimental tests were carried out on the basis of uniaxial compression of thin-walled panels stiffened with two parallel stringers. The panels consist of a skin plate and stringers joined with two techniques: riveting and refill friction stir spot welding (RFSSW). The aim of the investigations was to determine the amount of the critical load, the character of the structure's work in the range of post-buckling behaviour and the mode of panel destruction. For deformation measurements, an optical scanner Aramis based on the digital image correlation (DIC) technique was used. The research conducted enabled the assessment of the effectiveness of the RFSSW technology of joining the semi-monocoque structures, taking into account the range of post-critical deformations caused both to the local and global loss of stability. The compression tests have shown that the plate with welded stringers with a spacing of 29.5 mm exhibits the ultimate load similar to the variant of the riveted panel. It was also observed that the nature and number of buckling half-waves depend on the applied load and spacing between connectors.

The hydro-mechanical drawing combines conventional deep drawing and sheet hydroforming and is widely used in the automotive industry. In this study, we designed and fabricated an indigenous experimental set-up that is low cost, low weight and portable. This study investigated the deformation of sheet metals into hemispherical cup-shaped parts made of different materials, viz., aluminium 8011 alloys, copper C12200 and steel EN10130 alloys. The initial thickness of sheet metal was 0.4 mm, the most common thickness range used in automotive applications. The deformation behaviour in terms of dome height has been measured by varying the pressure of the fluids. Aluminium 8011 alloy sheets showed a maximum dome height of 11.46 mm at a pressure of 1.47 MPa with no rupture. Steel EN10130 sheets had a maximum dome height of 10.89 mm at a pressure of 9.31 MPa. It was concluded that the behaviours of materials are different in the hydro-mechanical drawing process than in mechanical tests. Copper C12200 sheet showed superior formability with a maximum dome height of 18.91 mm at a pressure of 7.06 MPa than other materials without fracture.
