Opis:
This paper presents a Chemistry-kit as an intervention tool to grant spaces for, hands-on learning in Chemistry, in formal Emergency Education (EE) programs. Emergencies may arise due to either civil unrests or natural catastrophes. More literature is dedicated towards the former than the latter (Burde et al., 2017). This paper aims to contribute towards filling the gap. The COVID-19 pandemic is the most recent emergency of the latter kind to promulgate a colossal impact on the formal education of children (WHO, 2020). Organisations such as UNHCR and UNESCO have been continuously working towards this endeavour of formalising secondary education (cite). EE programs lack extravagant school infrastructure, chemistry labs being a section of it. This paper argues that an analogue Chemistry-Kit is a practicable route to valuable learning experiences and is both cost-effective and student-friendly. Even in the presence of virtual schools, the kit can afford a medium to impart hands-on learning and encourage the practical essence of the subject.

Opis:
The study aimed to test the first two stages of the simplified model of emergency education (elaborated by P. Aguilar, G. Retamal, and K. Triplehorn) under martial law conditions on the relatively safe territory of Ukraine. The study embraced 52 children from internally displaced families, 6 teachers, 3 practical psychologists and 12 pedagogical university students. Work with children was organised by students’ self-government members under the guidance of pedagogical teachers and professional psychologists. Based on the emergency education model, the authors developed a method of organising recreational therapy for internally displaced school-aged children evacuated from war zones. In order to assess the effectiveness of the organised activities, the «Test of differential self-assessment of functional state» was used to determine the level of children’s indices of well-feeling, activity and mood (WAM-questionnaire). The results of the surveys before and after the experiment showed that the developed method of organising the recreational therapy of internally displaced children contributed to significant positive changes in their emotional, psychological and functional state. The reported redistribution of indices clearly illustrates the significance of those changes.

Opis:
Introduction Emergency remote education caused by the Covid-19 pandemic brought numerous threats to the mental health of all actors involved in education. The researchers focused mostly on mental health of students, neglecting to some extent mental health and well-being of educational staff. However, as mental health of teachers influences the quality of work, it is important to summarize findings concerning important factors influencing mental health of educational professionals during the school closure.Research Aim The aim of this study was to prepare an overview of findings from quantitative and qualitative research conducted in Poland during the period of emergency remote education. The studies included in the analysis were based on the data on mental health, well-being and occupational stress and stressors in the population of Polish teachers during the pandemic. Altogether data from 11 studies and two theoretical texts have been analyzed.Evidence-based Facts The studies analyzed confirmed lower well-being and higher levels of occupational stress (with emotional and somatic components). This state has been caused by a variety  of stressors connected to the new educational reality, e.g. techno-stress associated with extensive usage of ICT and lower quality of important educational relations. Summary The results confirm the need to conduct an ongoing diagnosis of various aspects of teachers’ mental health, particularly in periods such as the emergency remote education where a lot of new stressors occur. There is also a substantial need to offer mental health promotion programs for teachers at both the individual and the institutional level.
Cel badań Celem niniejszego opracowania było przygotowanie przeglądu wyników badań ilościowych i jakościowych przeprowadzonych w Polsce w okresie kryzysowej edukacji zdalnej. Wyniki projektów badawczych objętych analizą dotyczyły zdrowia psychicznego, dobrostanu oraz stresu i stresorów zawodowych w populacji polskich nauczycieli w okresie pandemii. Łącznie przeanalizowano dane z 11 projektów empirycznych  i dwa teksty o charakterze teoretycznym.Stan wiedzy Przeanalizowane przez nas badania potwierdziły niższe samopoczucie i wyższy poziom stresu zawodowego (z komponentem emocjonalnym i somatycznym). Stan ten spowodowany jest różnymi stresorami związanymi z nową rzeczywistością edukacyjną, np. technostresem, związanym z szerokim wykorzystaniem technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych i niższą jakością ważnych relacji edukacyjnych podczas pandemii.

BACKGROUND: According to statistical data, since 2014, only about 20% of incoming calls to the emergency call centre have been actual emergency calls, others are classified as non-emergency or false calls. This leads to the question: Why is this situation happening in the Republic of Poland? OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article is to show the public’s awareness with regard to the purpose of 112 emergency number and to indicate the causes and effects of the discussed phenomenon as well as proposals aimed at changing the existing state of affairs. METHODOLOGY: Theoretical and empirical methods were used. An analysis was made of, inter alia, available literature on security and education for safety, sources of law and reports on the functioning of the emergency communication system. Interviews with experts, who are the 112 emergency number operators, were also conducted. CONCLUSIONS: There are many problems generated by the Polish citizens that prevent the proper functioning of the 112 emergency telephone number. The reasons lie primarily in two areas: the lack of adequate education within the context of all social groups and the lack of strict penalties for deliberate performing non-emergency calls or blocking the emergency line.

Background: First aid is a critical skill, and knowing how to perform it may ultimately save a person’s life. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess the level of first aid knowledge among students from three backgrounds: medicine, science, and the humanities. Material and methods: The authors surveyed a group of 180 fifth-year physiotherapy, geoinformatics, and psychology students, of which there were 60 from each discipline. The authors used an anonymous survey of their own design, composed of open- and closed-ended questions, which included 15 questions about first aid rules. The research was conducted in Wrocław, Poland. Results: Only 60 students (30.33%) had previously had the opportunity to receive first aid training during the course of their studies. An additional 100 students (55.56%) claimed they were familiar with first aid rules. Of the physiotherapy students, 32 (53.3%) declared they would remain calm and composed in an emergency situation, with men claiming they would remain more composed than women. The difference in behaviour turned out to be statistically significant; the value of the chi-square test was 13.74. Students who had had prior first aid training at university were the most familiar with life-saving techniques and claimed they would remain the most composed in an emergency situation (32 students from physiotherapy; 53:3%). Prior to taking the first aid exam, the majority of students (100 respondents; 55.6% of the total) were confident that they would obtain the maximum number of points possible on the test. However, upon completion, they were found to have a medium level of knowledge at 889 points out of 1,500, or 59%. Conclusions: The level of first aid knowledge among university students should be dramatically improved, so they are able to perform first aid with some level of expertise, should the need ever arise. To facilitate this, every university should include first aid classes in their curriculum. First aid techniques should be revised and refreshed every six months.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of a study that explored the experiences of adult educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. This online survey was conducted in June 2020 and included directors and teachers in adult education from various institutions in Slovenia. Tutors at Slovenian Third-Age Universities and other associations that provided adult education were also included. The aim of our study was to examine how distance education was implemented during the pandemic, using the concept of ‘emergency remote teaching’ (Hodges, 2020). The study sample included 30 directors of adult education institutions and 124 teachers or tutors. The results showed that organisations providing adult education responded during the lockdown by providing adults with the opportunity to continue their education through distance learning. However, this was not the case for all of adult education programmes. Mostly language courses and formal education were offered. The results show that most adult educators quickly adapted to the new working conditions, but that teaching approaches were rather static and asynchronous teaching solutions. An analysis of the problems teachers faced and the support they needed has shown that action is needed to remove the obstacles to the future provision of adult education as much as possible.

It’s not easy to discuss, and think about the pedagogy when the nation suffers during the military conflict and invasion, which was the case of Poland during the Second World War – during such dramatic times the priority is survival. However, many years after the war, it is worth pointingout the effort and the dedication of teachers/educators who stayed with their students until the end. They remained in schools, orphanages and other educational institutions where kids could need them. Based on documents, literature and the personal experiencesof the author, the paper “Survive and save your identity” describes in a detail the activity of the Female Scouts who were the part of the RGO, an Organisation For the Youth of Warsaw in the years 1939-1945. The article manifests the importance of pedagogical and moral principles during the nations fight for survival.

Academic lecturers participating in the study indicate a significant decrease in the level of commitment, activity, the regularity of work and the quality of performing tasks presented by students. Lecturers benefit from training and technical support organized by the university. They feel an acute inability to contact students personally, but appreciate the time savings and no need to travel to work. The respondents point to the problem of controlling student integrity during remote examinations. Growing experience in remote education results in higher IT competences and conviction to this type of teaching.

Alongside emergency physicians and emergency nurses, the profession of medical emergency care practitioners (paramedics) is the key occupation in the medical emergency sen/ice system which is now being developed in Poland. Responsible tertiary education in the field of medical emergency care aims to prepare specialised medical professionals who are able to undertake independent emergency care on the site of an accident, mass accident and disaster, especially when rescuing people whose health or life is at risk. Knowledge and practical skills obtained during the training and the overall skills of medical emergency personnel largely determine the effectiveness of medical emergency procedures undertaken by such staff on site. The author discusses challenges and problems related to education of medical emergency staff in Poland’s schools of tertiary education, focusing on the experience of the Medical University in Lublin. The plan and curriculum presented in the paper received a mark of distinction from the Ministry of Health in Poland as a model document for other schools in Poland which train specialists in the field of medical emergency care.

The article concerns the opinion on stationary and remote examinations carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, perceived from the perspective of the assessed students. The study aimed to find out about the students' perspective on remote final and midterm exams at The Maria Grzegorzewska University and to attempt to compare it with the traditional examination. The subject of the research was, among others, the forms of checking knowledge and skills, problems arising during the exams, as well as the way of taking into account the special needs of the exam-takers. The students' opinions on the above-mentioned issues and their preferences regarding the examination situation were taken into account. The research used the method of diagnostic survey. The obtained results indicate that students during remote exams declare a higher level of stress related to potential technical problems, and in the case of stationary examinations the problem is chaos, noise and distraction. Regardless of the form of the exam, a similar percentage of students declare that they do not cheat - 73.53% during full-time exams, 68.49% pass fair during remote exams. The most common form of cheating during remote examinations is the use of previously prepared notes (21.85%), and 2.52% use the help of colleagues.
