Opis:
Numerous studies are conducted to improve the flow in the boundary layer to ensure laminar flow and in particular to increase flight safety. A new solution used to improve the laminar flow is the plasma actuator. The classic configuration of DBD plasma actuators is commonly used with the asymmetric electrode system. The manuscript describes the results of tests with a plasma actuator. Experimental tests were carried out on the built model of the wing with the SD 7003 profile, a plasma actuator was mounted on the upper surface. In contrast to the commonly used solution with solid tape copper electrodes, the novelty in the described research in the manuscript is the use of a large GND electrode (covering 70% of the upper surface of the wing) and a HV mesh electrode. The use of a plasma actuator on the upper surface of the wing affects the air flow in the boundary layer as a result of air ionization. The tests were carried out for a supply voltage from V = 7.0 kV to 12 kV and Reynolds number, Re = 87500 to 240000, flow velocity during the tests in the tunnel was in the range of U = 5-15 m/s and the angle of attack α = 5 -15 degrees. On the basis of the results experimental tests, the percentage change in the lift coefficient was calculated for the switched on and off DBD system. The obtained results indicate a maximum 17% increase in the lift coefficient for the plasma actuator activated for air flow U = 5 m/s and angle of attack α = 5 degrees. In the remaining configurations, changes in the lift coefficient amounted to 4%.

This paper presents a method of synthesizing copper powders by electrochemical method with the use of a rotating working electrode. The influence of the rotation speed of the working electrode, the current density, the concentration of copper ions, and the addition of ethylene glycol on the shape, size, and size distribution of the obtained powders were investigated. Properties of the synthesized powders were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD). It has been shown that it is possible to obtain copper powders with a size of 1 µm by an electrochemical method using the rotary cathode, in sulphate bath with addition of ethylene glycol as a surfactant. Increasing current density causes a decrease in the average size of the obtained powder particles. The addition of 2.5% of ethylene glycol prevents the formation of dendritic powders. The change in the concentration of copper ions in the range from 0.01 to 0.15 mol/dm3 in the electrolyte did not show any significant effect on the size of obtained particles. However, higher concentrations of copper limiting the presence of dendritic-shape particles. Changing the speed of rotation of the electrode affects both the size and the shape of synthesized copper powder. For the rotational speed of the electrode of 115 rpm, the obtained powders have a size distribution in the range of 0-3 µm and an average particle size of 1 µm. The particles had a polygonal shape with an agglomeration tendency.

The amount of electrode wear in micro-EDM has a direct effect on the dimensional accuracy of the machined hole. Therefore, improving the corrosion resistance of electrodes in micro-EDM is still of great interest. The effective coating of thin film for the micro tool electrodes in the case of micro-EDM can lead to minimize the electrode wear which eventually improve the productivity and machining quality. In the present study, experiments were performed on micro-EDM using carbon coated tool electrode and optimized using Taguchi-Topsis to investigate optimum levels of Depth of cut (Z) and overcut (OVC). It was concluded that optimum conditions had improved significantly using carbon coated micro tool electrode. Optimal levels of technological parameters include V = 160 V, C = 10000 pF, RPM = 600 rpm, and Zopt = 2.525 mm, OVCopt = 65.257 µm. The quality of the machined surface with the coated electrode at optimal conditions is analysed and evaluated. The Topsis method is a suitable solution to this problem, and the steps to perform the calculation in this technique are simple.

Opis:
A novel three-dimensional electrode reactor (3DER) was designed to treat the dye wastewater. The performance of 3DER was evaluated via methyl orange (MO) removal efficiency. For comparison, the performance of the two-dimensional electrode reactor (2DER) was also assessed. Furthermore, the effects of electrolyte and aeration on treatment performance were preliminarily evaluated to further optimize the operation on 3DER. A repeatable and stable MO treatment efficiency was obtained in the 3DER. The MO removal rate reached 79.5% at the applied voltage of 1.0 V, electrode spacing of 2 cm and initial MO concentration of 60 mg/dm3, significantly higher than that in the 2DER (58.8%), suggesting the obvious improvement of particle electrodes on MO removal. Both adding electrolyte and air sparging into the 3DER contributed to the enhancement of the MO removal rate. These results obtained here suggest that the 3DER may provide an effective alternative for the treatment of azo dye wastewater and/or non-biodegradable industrial wastewaters.

This article proposes a method for grinding coal based on the use of the energy of a pulsed shock wave resulting from a spark electric discharge in a liquid. The main purpose of the scientific work is the development of an electric pulse device for producing coal powder, the main component of coal-water fuel. The diameter of the initial coal fraction averaged 3 mm, and the size of the resulting product was 250 μm. To achieve this goal, the dependence of the length of a metal rod electrode (positive electrode) on the length and diameter of its insulation is investigated. Various variants of the shape of the base (bottom) of the device acting as a negative electrode are considered, and an effective variant based on the results of coal grinding is proposed. An experimental electric pulse installation is described, the degree of coal grinding is determined depending on the geometric parameters. The optimal characteristics of the obtained coal powder have been established.

Even though the coated electrode can enhance the machining efficiency in micro-EDM process, it is essential to introduce optimization approach for further enhancing the process. Hence the present study was performed with multi-criteria optimization in micro-EDM using TiN coated tungsten carbide electrode for machining Ti-6Al-4V. The Z coordinator (Z) and tool wear rate (TWR) were used as the quality parameters to evaluate the machinability. The voltage (U), capacitance (C) and spindle rotational speed (n) were considered a the technological parameters. The Technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method was a suitable solution to determine the optimal result with the help of S/N analysis and by ranking. It was found that capacitance has more significant nature in the process. The optimal process parameters combination was found with better accuracy and lower prediction error of 1.03%. The better machined surface quality was also observed under optimal conditions.

N,N’-bis(2,4-dimethoxybenzylidene)ethylenediamine was synthesized and used as a membrane carrier to create a novel poly(vinyl chloride) membrane potentiometric sensor that is selective especially for Fe3+ ions. The super-Nernstian slope of the projected sensor was 19.5 mV per decade over a concentration range of 7.3•10-8–1•10-1 M having detection limit at 7.3•10-8 M. The sensor displayed a linear potential response for the detection of Fe3+ ions in about 30 seconds, and it had a lifespan of no less than 9 weeks without lacking any potential divergence. The selected sensor showed high selectivity in water solutions in relation to Fe3+ ions, even in the presence of other metal cations in the pH range of 3.6–10.
Przedmiotem badań był potencjometryczny czujnik do selektywnego oznaczania jonów Fe3+ oparty na membranie wykonanej z poli(chlorku winylu) i N,N’-bis(2,4-dimetoksybenzylideno)etylenodiaminy. Nachylenie super-nernstowskie (ang. super-Nernstian slop) badanego czujnika wynosiło 9,5 mV na dekadę w zakresie stężeń 7,3•10-8–1•10-1 M z limitem detekcji 7.3•10-8 M. Czujnik wykazywał w obecności jonów Fe3+ liniową odpowiedź przez około 30 s, a jego czas życia bez rozbieżności potencjałów wynosił nie mniej niż 9 tygodni. Wybrany czujnik wykazywał w roztworach wodnych wysoką selektywność w stosunku do jonów Fe3+ nawet w obecności innych kationów metali w zakresie pH 3,6–10.

Effect of 2 – thiocytosine on the parameters of double R-AgLAFe/ chlorate(VII) interface layer in the presence of different surfactants has been studied. There were determined the adsorption parameters such as: differential capacity of the double layer (Cd) at the R-AgLAFe/ basic electrolyte interface; potential of zero charge (Ez) and surface tension at the potential of zero charge (γz). The predominance of 2–thiocytosine in formation of adsorption equilibria of 2–thiocytosine–SDS and 2– thiocytosine–CTAB mixtures as well as the competitive adsorption between molecules 2–thiocytosine-surfactant or mixed micelles was proved. The changes pointing out to different arrangement of SDS or CTAB molecules on the electrode surface also in the presence of 2–thiocytosine were observed.

In order to the long-term stability of DSE for electroplating process, the lifetime equations were calculated from the results of the accelerated life testing, and the lifetime of DSE was predicted. The nano-embossing pre-treatment led to 2.65 times in the lifetime of DSE. The degradation mechanism of DSE with a thick metal oxide layer for applied highly current density process condition was identified. The improvement of durability of DSE seems to be closely related to adhesion between titanium plate and mixed metal oxide layer.

The participation of high strength steels in marine and offshore structures is increasing, which makes it necessary to develop recommendations for underwater repair welding works. The article presents the results of bead-on-plate welded specimens made of S700MC high strength steel in underwater wet welding conditions by covered electrodes. Three specimens with heat input values in the range 0.91-1.05 kJ/mm were made. The specimens were subjected to visual, metallographic, macro- and microscopic tests as well as hardness measurements using the Vickers method. It was found that the higher heat input leads to formation of mixed bainite-martensite microstructure in the heat-affected zone (HAZ). Lower heat input value results in presence of martensite in HAZ. It was shown that in the scope of the performed tests, the maximum hardness of HAZ did not exceed the critical value for the material group, and the increase in heat input caused the decrease of hardness by about 25 HV10.

Cemented carbides WC-Co feature high mechanical properties and outstanding wear resistance. Traditional grinding of such hard workpiece features low material removal rate and diminished tool life. Notwithstanding that, even if, proper cooling fluid is applied; abrasive machining of cemented carbides characterizes poor efficiency. The aim of this study was to investigate the issue of WEDM of the cemented carbides WC-Co with two alternative materials of the wire electrodes applied. The presented experimental surface layer geometry measurements was carried out on a modern profilometer MITUTOYO SV 3200. Especially, WEDM results with wire flushing and in immersion were compared. Investigated were the effects of such input parameters as the pulse width and the time between two pulses on the output parameters such as area cutting efficiency, workpiece surface roughness in 2D and 3D. Analysing SEM microphotographs the surface layer defects after WEDM, cobalt depletion and pitting was discoursed. The analysed results provided WEDM of WC-Co cemented carbides with molybdenum wire electrode as seventy one percent less efficient and higher roughness was obtained for the same number of passes. The lowest height of the roughness on the surface after cutting with molybdenum wire amounted to Ra and Sa = 3.5 μm. Such roughness involves a 25 μm deep undesirable heat affected zone. WEDM with equal number of passes and brass wire resulted in roughness Ra and Sa =0,9 μm. In further research, an endeavour should be directed to examine different water and hydrocarbons derivative dielectrics impact on the surface layer structure and chemical composition of the machined WC-Co carbides.

Molybdenum (Mo) is used to form a barrier layer for metal wiring in displays or semiconductor devices. Recently, researches have been continuously attempted to fabricate Mo sputtering targets through additive manufacturing. In this study, spherical Mo powders with an average particle size of about 37 um were manufactured by electrode induction melting gas atomization. Subsequently, Mo layer with a thickness of 0.25 mm was formed by direct energy deposition in which the scan speed was set as a variable. According to the change of the scan speed, pores or cracks were found in the Mo deposition layer. Mo layer deposited with scan speed of 600 mm/min has the hardness value of 324 Hv with a porosity of approximately 2%. We demonstrated that Mo layers with higher relative density and hardness can be formed with less effort through direct energy deposition compared to the conventional powder metallurgy.

Production in all industry fields is currently affected by new scientific and technical knowledge and the requirements for its rapid deployment. In many cases, the most modern and highly sophisticated technical systems are applied. Simultaneously, fully automated production systems are rather successfully used and progressive production technologies are implemented. In most cases, there is an integral part of a management system that operates the challenging technological processes. These processes would not be executable without the system's precise control, which provides a suitable precondition for ensuring the high quality of manufactured products. However, the customer's demanding requirements are not always met. These involve increased requests for the quality of the final product due to the reduction of the tolerance band and application of high-strength materials. This paper aims to describe one of the solutions by which it is possible to achieve a higher quality of the machined surface after wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM). The solution proposes that through dynamic management, the WEDM process eliminates the vibrations of the wire tool electrode and thereby achieves a substantial increase in the quality of the eroded area in terms of its geometric accuracy. With the support of an extensive database of information with precise exchange of information, the proposed system will allow to control the electro discharge process with regard to the optimal way of operation of the electro discharge machine on the basis of individually selected conditions.

Sodium-ion batteries (SiBs) have attracted substantial interest as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries because of the low cost. There have been many studies on the development of new anode materials that could react with sodium by conversion mechanism. SnO2 is a promising candidate due to its low cost and high theoretical capacity. However, SnO2 has the same problem as other anodes during the conversion reaction, i.e., the volume of the anode repeatedly expands and contracts by cycling. Herein, anode is composed of carbon nanofiber embedded with SnO2 nanopowder. The resultant electrode showed improvement of cyclability. The optimized SnO2 electrode showed high capacity of 1275 mAh g-1 at a current density of 50 mA g-1. The high conductivity of the optimized electrode resulted in superior electrochemical performance.

Opis:
A selective electrode was manufactured to determine the sulfur ions by sedimentation method in industrial waters in oil refineries of North Refineries Company, Baiji, Iraq. The linear response on a wide range of concentration (from 1.0·10–1 to 1.0·10–6M) Na2S with a Nernst response of 28.229 mv per decade, theoretical value for slope of 29.58 mv per decade, correlation factor of 0.9998, detection limit of 2.287·10–7 at 25–35°C, pH 6.0–12.0, and the best concentration of the filling solution of 10–6M with a fast response time (5–13 s). The direct method were %RSD for 0.5772– –0.7430, %RE for –0.1, 3.7 and %REC for 99.9, 103.7.
