Opis:
After Poland regained independence in 1918, educational societies played an important role in the education of the society. Jan Kornecki was one of many community workers who continued activities in that area started during the times of national bondage. On behalf of the Polish Educational Society in Warsaw [Polska Macierz Szkolna], he became a member of a pioneer group trying to unify the actions and strengthen the cooperation between educational societies in various districts of Poland. After the establishment of the Liaison Commission of Polish Educational Societies [Komisja Porozumiewawcza Polskich Towarzystw Oświatowych], he accepted the position of the secretary of the Commission’s Executive Department and was responsible for initiating and maintaining permanent contacts between the societies forming the Commission. Apart from maintaining ongoing relationships with community workers in the places of their local activities, he prepared the First Polish Educational Congress, which was convened in December 1924 in Warsaw. J. Kornecki rendered great services in founding a new educational organization named The Union of Polish Educational Societies [Zjednoczenie Polskich Towarzystw Oświatowych], which was established in 1927 based on the experiences gathered by the Liaison Commission, which operated earlieroku He took the function of the manager of the Union’s Executive Department Office; his responsibilities included delegating and supervising tasks performed by clerks employed in the Office, managing the property and funds, and drawing up reports of activities. He moreover organized and convened annual and extraordinary meetings of delegates and implemented the resolutions adopted, prepared plans and programmes of quarterly off-schedule meetings of the Executive Department, represented the Union during external relations, mainly with state and local government institutions and first of all initiated and maintained regular relationships with separate associations and provided them with all kinds of aid, e.g. by organizing annual conferences for educational managers.

Opis:
In the process of adult education development next levels of educational activity and organization appeared. It begun with adult teaching, literacy, knowledge popularization, attempt to earn a degree. But since conference in Tokio (1972) theoretical and social issues of the process have been underlined to shape practice and theory of adult education. In the paper definitions of adult education are analyzed given by R. Wroczyński, W. Okoń, F. Urbańczyk, H. Radlińska as well as foreign authors, recommendations of adult education conferences in Tokio, Exeter, Paris extended in Hamburg and Belem. To understand modern changes in adult education conference in Lublana is essential, where outstanding specialists analyzed term “adult education” and gave new meaning to it. They also underlined that adult education is also a social movement, gathering people interested in development of this kind of activity, graduates and promoters of different forms of adult education. Author presents two examples of this. The first one is adult education practice in Sweden, where 13 education societies acts to develop adult education. The second one is the Great Britain where WEA (Working Education Association) is specially successful. Is was founded in 1903 to educate workers and now it helps to educate different social groups. This year WEA celebrates 110th anniversary and develops British adult education providing 30% of all adult education activities. It also organizes conferences, publishes books and periodicals, develops international cooperation. Also WEA’s branches developed in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries like Sweden where ABF acts since 1912 or Norway. Social aspect of adult education is important for institutional development, organization of regional and international cooperation and recommendations for successful adult education promotion and advancement in global perspective. Former recommendations were sustained and enriched at CONFINTEA VI in Belem in 2009.

Opis:
W niniejszym artykule ukazano problematykę rozwoju amatorskiego, włościańskiego ruchu teatralnego w Galicji doby autonomicznej (1867–1918).
This article shows the development of the amateur, folk theater movement in Galicia during the autonomous period (1867-1918). As a result of the easing of censorship and administrative restrictions, this movement, especially at the end of the 19th century, contributed significantly to the development of education and culture in the plebeian communities of Galician society. Special attention deserves the work of the Association of Theaters and Choirs under the leadership of Zygmunt Gargas, which shaped not only the intellectual culture of the people, but also the theatrical tastes of the Galician people. This was a phenomenon which, by itself, was a testimony to the irrevocable need of this institution in the country, educating the innate musicality of the people by organizing the folk choirs and theaters.

Opis:
This paper analyses educational inequalities in Poland over the last two decades. Using data from national surveys carried out during the period 1982–2002 these results provide insight into the relationship between social origin and transition to secondary schools and university levels. Transition to both secondary school and universities are unquestionably selective by social class. The only question is whether these patterns have changed over the last two decades, when the communist regime collapsed and new inequalities emerged. Previous cross-time analyses for most countries showed a lack of substantial changes in educational inequalities over long periods of time. The main findings of the investigation can be summarised as follows. First, it showed that the effect of the class position of the father significantly increased in the 1990s, and then-until 2002-it declined to the degree of the 1980s, before the communist system collapsed. Second, in accordance with the findings of all previous studies, secondary school transition proved to be more selective as compared to that to the university level.

Opis:
The presented study addresses the issue of the concept of lifelong learning based on Polish experience, on the basis of the latest research: the international programme: Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (Study on an international scale, realised for the first time in Poland on a sample of more than 9 thousand people) and Polish reports: Report on the State of Education 2013-Teachers Matter, and Social Diagnosis 2013-the Labour Market and Social Exclusion in the Context of the Perception of Poles. The presented study and the authors’ considerations revolve around the concepts of: learning, schooling, undertaking educational activity by adults, which, as clearly indicated by the research results, constitutes an insignificant part of Polish society. This situation puts our country on one of the last places in the ranking of highly developed countries.
