Opis:
This article presents the problem of educational competence of parents, in the context of their knowledge about education. Educational skills of parents in the areas of preferred ways of education, adopted methods of education and ways of resolving conflicts with their children were also analyzed. The presented material is based on research conducted in 2013 year among 1109 parents of children aged 0-19. Random sampling was used, which included subjects from all levels of the educational system: nurseries, kindergartens, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools in Bialystok. The test method was diagnostic sounding, and research tool a questionnaire. The results showed that more than half of the parents have adequate knowledge about education as well as high educational skills.
Prezentowany artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie kompetencji wychowawczych rodziców w kontekście posiadanej przez nich wiedzy na temat wychowania. Analizie poddano także umiejętności wychowawcze rodziców dotyczące preferowanych sposobów wychowania, stosowanych przez nich metod wychowania oraz sposobów rozwiązywania konfliktów z dziećmi. Zaprezentowany materiał jest oparty na badaniach przeprowadzonych w 2013 roku wśród 1109 rodziców dzieci w wieku 0-19 lat. Zastosowano losowy dobór próby, który uwzględniał probantów spośród wszystkich szczebli systemu oświatowego: żłobków, przedszkoli, szkół podstawowych, gimnazjalnych i ponadgimnazjalnych w Białymstoku. Jako metodę badania wykorzystano sondaż diagnostyczny, natomiast narzędzie badawcze stanowił kwestionariusz ankiety. Wyniki badań pokazały, że ponad połowa badanych rodziców ma adekwatną świadomość na temat wychowania, a także posiada wysokie umiejętności wychowawcze.

The article describes a primary school in Kenya, where the school’s educational space was analysed in two respects: a) safety and comfort; b) knowledge and skills development, as part of ethnographic research. The research results indicate that the school needs a change in physical space, teaching aids, and greater pedagogical awareness among the teachers. The new education system introduced in Kenya requires much more funding to ensure proper learning conditions and continuing education for teachers. If this demand is met, the quality of the education process may improve.

The main aim of the work was to evaluate the effectiveness of physical therapy conducted with autistic children from the kindergarten at Krzemienna 42B in Szczecin. The research was conducted in the first halves of 2009 and 2010. The diagnostic tool used in order to evaluate gross motor skills was psycho-educational profile – revised (PEP-R). The research group included 8 boys with medically certified autism spectrum disorder. In 2009, out of 126 tasks given, all the tested students performed 104 tasks evaluated as completed, 16 tasks evaluated as promising and 6 tasks evaluated as uncompleted. Only one boy performed all tasks properly. In 2010 the students performed 120 tasks evaluated as completed, 5 as promising and 1 as uncompleted. Four of the autistic boys performed the tasks they were given perfectly. In 2009 the biological age of most tested children was higher than the developmental age in the scope of gross motor skills. Implementing new, individual therapeutic programs based, among other things, on TEEACH tasks, helped to significantly level out the differences.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie roli kompetencji akademickich w profilaktyce niepowodzeń edukacyjnych studentów. Rola ta ukazana została zarówno w kontekście wzmacniania indywidualnych zasobów kompetencyjnych studentów, jak i jako element systemu profilaktyki realizowanej na poziomie uczelni wyższych, której celem jest obniżenie odsetka odpadu i odsiewu studentów. Możliwości wykorzystania kompetencji akademickich w przeciwdziałaniu niepowodzeniom edukacyjnym zostały omówione w odniesieniu do założeń trzech poziomów oddziaływań profilaktycznych. Zaprezentowana propozycja operacjonalizacji kategorii kompetencje akademickie została omówiona w kontekście możliwości ich implementacji do metodycznych i doradczych ofert adresowanych do studentów.
The aim of the article is to indicate the role of academic skills in the prevention of student failure. This role has been shown in the context of strengthening the individual competence resources of students, and as an element of the prevention system implemented at the university level whose aim is to reduce the percentage of drop outs and the sifting of students. Possibilities of using academic skills to prevent educational failures have been discussed in relation to the assumptions of the three levels of preventive interventions. The presented proposal for the operationalisation of the academic skills category was discussed in the context of the possibility of their implementation to methodical and advisory offers addressed to students.

This paper examines the International Student Competition on Place Branding and Mediterranean Diet held in Fermo, Italy, in the context of the development of rural areas. This one-week food-related educational programme was organised by the University of Macerata’s Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism in collaboration with The Piceno Laboratory on the Mediterranean Diet, a local network of public and private stakeholders committed to the promotion of Fermo area as a touristic destination based on traditional gastronomy. The aim of this study was to understand how and to what extent such food-related educational events may contribute to providing students with the knowledge, expertise and soft skills needed for careers in the food tourism sector. Of interest also was how such events may benefit the development of rural areas. The ISC was founded in 2016 and continued in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In order to assess students’ perceptions about the experience, specifically regarding what they felt they had learned about food tourism, and which soft skills they had acquired or honed, 13 students who participated in the 2017 event were interviewed for a qualitative study. Moreover, the authors drew upon information gleaned from interactions with students and teachers, as well as with several important actors of the local food and tourism sector, including tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs and representatives of government agencies, with whom they collaborated in the context of planning, running and evaluating the events. The findings show that the ISC can provide students with a good general understanding of the territory and practical knowledge about place branding and food tourism. In terms of career preparation, the combination of fieldwork activities with traditional lectures and group activities was particularly fruitful in promoting soft skills such as communication, efficient use of social media, teamwork, problem-solving and decision making.

The aim of the article is to analyze the extent, to which the participation of students in learning mobility projects on the example of the Erasmus+ programme influences the improvement of their individual skills desired from the perspective of the labour market. The text begins with an introduction that outlines the background to the considerations undertaken. Next, the historical context of learning mobility in Europe and the process of internationalization of universities are presented as one of the consequences of the globalizing labour market. In the following part of the article we characterized the best known European programme promoting academic mobility Erasmus+. The end of the article contains a review of the research on the competences of beneficiaries of learning mobility projects, supported by statistical data, and an attempt to draw a link between participation in student exchange and the chances of finding a satisfactory employment after graduation. The analysis shows that graduates with foreign mobility experience develop a number of characteristics and skills, that increase their employability and career opportunities.

Advancements in the educational sector are vital in developing students’ intellectual skills and worldwide requirements and gaining the attention of researchers and regulators. Thus, the present article aims to examine how teaching style and leadership skills impact the educational environment and students’ intellectual skills at universities in UAE. The current study also discusses the mediating role of the educational environment in teaching style, leadership skills, and students’ intellectual skills in universities in the UAE. The study’s novelty also lies here as no such research has been conducted using the selected variables worldwide, especially in UAE. The survey questionnaires have been used to collect data from the respondents. The results indicated that teaching style and leadership skills significantly impact students’ intellectual skills, and teaching style significantly impacts the educational environment of universities in UAE. The findings also revealed that the educational environment significantly mediates the links between teaching style and students’ intellectual skills at universities in UAE. This research is helpful for the policymakers regarding the formulation of policies about the educational environment in universities that improve student learning skills.
Postępy w sektorze edukacyjnym mają kluczowe znaczenie dla rozwijania umiejętności intelektualnych uczniów i wymagań na całym świecie oraz przyciągania uwagi badaczy i organów regulacyjnych. Dlatego niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zbadanie, w jaki sposób styl nauczania i umiejętności przywódcze wpływają na środowisko edukacyjne i umiejętności intelektualne studentów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Obecne badanie omawia również pośredniczącą rolę środowiska edukacyjnego w stylu nauczania, umiejętnościach przywódczych i umiejętnościach intelektualnych studentów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. W tym również tkwi nowość badania, ponieważ nie przeprowadzono takich badań z wykorzystaniem wybranych zmiennych na całym świecie, zwłaszcza w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Kwestionariusze ankiety zostały wykorzystane do zebrania danych od respondentów. Wyniki wskazują, że styl nauczania i umiejętności przywódcze znacząco wpływają na umiejętności intelektualne uczniów, a styl nauczania znacząco wpływa na środowisko edukacyjne uniwersytetów w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Wyniki ujawniły również, że środowisko edukacyjne znacząco pośredniczy w powiązaniach między stylem nauczania a umiejętnościami intelektualnymi uczniów na uniwersytetach w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Badanie to jest pomocne dla decydentów w zakresie formułowania polityk dotyczących środowiska edukacyjnego na uniwersytetach, które poprawiają umiejętności uczenia się studentów.

The article presents a solution for one of the significant tasks in pedagogical science and practice, namely the development of regulatory skills in younger school pupils as a significant factor of their educational and cognitive competence development. The aim of our study was to conduct practical evaluation of the proposed program of the development of regulatory skills in younger school pupils. Scientific novelty consists in the created program of the development of regulatory skills in younger school pupils, which generally allow for increasing education and cognitive competence, which is the basis for pupils’ functional expertise, in accordance with the aims and tasks of the state-significance documentation. The study used logical and historical analysis of scientific literature on the topic, pedagogical observation, a survey, questionnaires, testing and a pedagogical experiment. Based on the obtained results, we developed educational and methodological recommendations for teachers on the topic of developing regulatory skills in young school pupils, as an elective class program for 2nd-grade pupils.

In those educational settings where several languages coexist, strategies such as metalinguistic awareness and instructional dialogue can easily be implemented, in that students are immediately able to observe the similarities and differences between languages. The present article examines metalinguistic awareness and instructional dialogue in detail, through an analysis of the findings of a number of studies. Some specific teaching implications are then exposed for the development of both these strategies. The characteristics of plurilingual educational settings, in which languages can and should be taught in an integrative manner, are addressed, looking particularly at regions and communities in Spain where two co-official languages coexist with one or two foreign languages. The benefits of using the same text in various languages as a teaching and learning resource is then showcased, particularly when students are familiar with it, as we will see in the case of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Finally, the practical implementation of metalinguistic awareness and instructional dialogue is encouraged, essentially to enhance students’ productive skills.

The article is dedicated to the research of soft skills structural units and their formation of future social workers, as well as the issue of their professional growth and development. Professional skills consist of specific knowledge and abilities important for performing a particular job and that can be mostly identified, evaluated and measured. Until now, there was a perception that hard or functional-technical skills were the only skills needed for career growth and development. However, a study carried out at Harvard University shows that 80% of career achievements are determined by soft (social and communication) skills and only 20% by functional and technical skills. Since the labor market currently requires diverse professionals, higher education institutions face new challenges. One of these challenges is to create pedagogical conditions for the development of soft skills, including those of future social workers. The professional competence of a social worker involves three groups of skills, namely hard skills, soft skills and meta skills. We suppose that the mechanism of their formation in the conditions of professional training should be focused on the development of all components of soft skills, and their development provides the necessary professional qualities, the implementation of abilities, and the realization of values in social work. In accordance with the characteristics of future social workers in the development of «soft skills», its characteristic features and peculiarities are clarified, including: creating an informal environment for the formation of social leadership in higher educational institutions; filling the educational program with options for «soft skills», activities aimed at increasing the practice-oriented training of future specialists, the use of active and interactive techniques, forms, methods and means of developing the «soft skills» of social workers. The results of the study include the definition of the concept of «soft skills», the identification of their general characteristics, the outlining of groups of soft skills, and the description of their main components. It was found that the most in-demand flexible competencies are: teamwork, critical thinking, leadership, creativity, meeting deadlines, responsibility and discipline, as well as communication skills, emotional stability, ability to work in stressful situations, adaptability to a new team or working conditions, conflict resolution, critical and creative thinking, public speaking skills, reliability, flexibility, responsibility, priority setting, planning, adequate perception of criticism and readiness for improvement, and professional etiquette proficiency.

The article discusses the difficulties of diagnosing speaking skills in the situation of matriculation examination, resulting from the specific nature of spoken language varieties and texts implementation in these variants. Factors that should be taken into account when formulating criteria for assessing speech and conversation exams are: complex and holistic structure of spoken speech, transience of audible text, the spontaneity of live speech, the power of nonverbal codes, a significant stigma of a dialog, and the influence of situational context on the course of communicative interaction. The analysis of speaking skills assessment tools prepared for the oral examination in the year 2015 revealed that some of them had a significant impact on the criteria developed for this purpose.

This article is a critical analysis of the "Skills Development and Employability in Europe: The New Skills Agenda" document. The purpose of the discussion is to analyze the 10 problem areas identified and formulated in the document, paying particular attention to the perception and implementation of these issues from the perspective of European countries. The recommendations presented for each of the issues may provide important guidance for developing a vision of vocational education targeting the labor market of the European Union.
