Opis:
Among the many available sources on the history of education, special attention should be paid to the audit reports of inspections carried out by school inspectors, and in the case of secondary schools’ audits conducted by inspectors on behalf of the education board. In the case of the City Co-educational Humanistic Jr. High School in Ostrzeszów, four such documents have been preserved. Their analysis gives a certain, albeit fragmentary picture of the operation of this school during the afore mentioned period. The information contained in these documents makes mention about the school facilities, the number of teachers and the level (quality) of lessons, students (including their number in the school and in each individual classes). The inspectors also noted in the reports information on social developmental studies conducted at the school, as well as information on youth organizations.

Opis:
While considerable academic efforts have focused on integrating cutting-edge educational technologies into learning and instruction, it is not yet clear what effect the implementation of these technologies have had on enduring educational goals. This article reminds educations stakeholders that any plan for technology implementations should be based on serving broad educational goals. Regardless of how attractive cutting-edge technologies are, their application in education should be evaluated in light of enduring educational goals as summarized in the following: to develop responsible citizens who have basic knowledge and skills and who will become effective problem solvers and lifelong learners. This article reviews educational goals in several contexts to illustrate that while variations have evolved and many educational technologies have emerged, the basic educational goals have remained relatively stable. In reviewing the challenges and opportunities for emerging educational technologies, the basic argument herein is to begin with these basic educational goals rather than committing to the latest educational technological fad.

Opis:
Educational practice abounds in wishful thinking which occurs when we believe that something is true because we want it were true. For example, in Poland we set very low cut-scores to external examinations (30%) and still believe that passing the examination means mastery of the subject. Fortunately for educational diagnostics, assessment practice at schools involves emotional/motivational achievement what makes it a good predictor of future accomplishments at schools and on employment. Assessing growth of human capital do begin at general education schools in Poland and elsewhere (US), though in a latent, and partly illegal way, creating the second systems of grading. Frequently applied in lower tiers of education, commented reports, in which teachers describe student achievement in their own words, are more closely related to human capital assessment than the test-based grading used to be. Both pedagogues and students are highly critical of standards of justice in the present achievement assessment practices what makes their consequential validity vulnerable to negative opinions. On the other hand, attempts to determine the worth of educational phenomena by large surveys in the shape of educational evaluation could be contaminated by various political factors. Widening the scope of educational diagnosis to cover the full range of human capital developmental aspects would encourage the better, more economically and ethically sound actions.

Report on the State of Education 2013
Opis:
The presented study addresses the issue of the concept of lifelong learning based on Polish experience, on the basis of the latest research: the international programme: Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (Study on an international scale, realised for the first time in Poland on a sample of more than 9 thousand people) and Polish reports: Report on the State of Education 2013-Teachers Matter, and Social Diagnosis 2013-the Labour Market and Social Exclusion in the Context of the Perception of Poles. The presented study and the authors’ considerations revolve around the concepts of: learning, schooling, undertaking educational activity by adults, which, as clearly indicated by the research results, constitutes an insignificant part of Polish society. This situation puts our country on one of the last places in the ranking of highly developed countries.
