Opis:: We live in a world where the access to knowledge has a decisive influence on our future. A large number of children in Poland have difficulties with this access, because they are raised in impoverished, excluded, poorly educated families of low social status. This phenomenon is mainly related to rural areas. Nonformal education should provide important support for formal education. Nonformal education should be organized with the cooperation of schools, kindergartens, and non-governmental organizations. The educational activities proposed for children and their parents by non-governmental organizations complement formal education. These activities are of crucial importance in the equalization of educational opportunities for children from rural areas. It is essential that these activities be planned, long-term, and a part of the entire educational program.

Opis:: Currently, the idea of inclusive education is perceived as a model of education, far exceeding the idea of inclusion of students with disabilities into mainstream education. It is a vision of a school aimed at considering the needs of all students, i.e. those who exhibit no severe developmental disabilities, with special educational needs, including gifted individuals. Additionally, the scholars of inclusive education agree, that the process is neither easy nor simple. One of the determining factors indicated, is the attitude of teachers towards the very idea. Therefore, a research idea arose, aiming at examining the opinion of teachers regarding the subject of inclusive education, as a potentially dominant form of education. Recognising at least some of its determinants seemed essential. The following article focuses on two of the aforementioned: types of institutions, where the teachers are employed, and the teachers’ professional experience. The research encompasses integrated preschools. It seems that the experience of teachers of such institutions proves particularly significant for recognising the chances and dangers of inclusive education, within the context of Polish integration experience. The two professional groups distinguished, with substantial and minor professional experience, allow to examine the perspective of inclusive action.

Opis:: The systemic transformation in Poland has revealed the range of inadequacy of the system and the quality of education to the requirements of the principles of market economy. The changing labor market needed a type of employees different from the earlier, socialist society. The principles of decentralization and demonopolization introduced at the beginning of the 1990s started changes in the system of education. At the same time they revealed an increase in Poles’ educational aspirations. Reformatory work that resulted in the 1999 reform of education were subjected to this. The reform is a continuous process. Its elements are gradually implemented, and are connected both with the structure and with the quality of education. The tasks of the reform also include making the children’s and youths’ educational chances equal as well as propagating the pro-family education of the society. The aim of the article is discussing the state of Polish education in the 1990s and of the causes and results (up till now) of the reform of the educational system. It shows problems in the educational policies and indicates both the necessity of undertaking reformatory measures and new areas and challenges within education of the young (and not only) generation.

The guilds of social distinction, economic the and cultural village the children are the essential determinants of conditions of education and the youth.

Opis:: In the article selected results of studies of groups of juvenile delinquents and of secondary school youths are discussed. A comparison of the two studied groups allows expressing conclusions and recommendations concerning the directions of rehabilitation activities towards social misfits, which should be started. In the article the significance of the quality of the family circle's functioning for proper rehabilitation of adolescents is pointed to, and negative significance of dysfunctions on the area of adolescents' relations with their parents is stressed. Also the need of constant monitoring education of the youth by psychologists is suggested, especially of those of them who violate the law. Particular directions for such analyses are shown. The article is a presentation of a fragment of broader studies concerning the discussed problem area.

Opis:: The article is devoted to the presentation of the results of a research on the social functions and importance of participation in classical music concerts for pregnant women, infants, and young children, organized by the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz. The research project was devoted to exploring such functions of music, as education and entertainment, as well as the functions of family in reference to stratification, socialization, identification, and emotions, as it is the family that, through participation in the high-brow culture from the prenatal period, for one thing, determines a child’s place in the social structure, and permanently imprints participation in this king of culture as a lifestyle. In Sociology of Music, Barbara Jabłońska writes that music also fulfils a distinctive and segregational function, that is, promotes class divisions in a society, as it diversifies social positions by means of consumption of certain musical genres. It seems that the concerts discussed in the article may have such a function in relation to the ways of spending free time by families. Participation in concerts for pregnant women, infants, and young children is a means of reproduction of social position by families who are aware of the scientifically proven positive impact of participation in high-brow culture on the child’s cognitive and emotional development. Conscious parenting, including participation in this type of concerts, can support the educational life chances of children. The article is based on a participant observation and interviews with the promoters of the concerts, as well as an analysis of the literature on the subject.
