Opis:: The author of the paper presents the concept of teaching in the STEAM model in relation to the necessity of building competence of tomorrow among pupils of primary schools and even preschools. The author sets forth the status of digitisation of Polish schools in the light of the most extensive Polish digitisation survey: the 2017 Digital Diagnosis. The author primarily discusses the conclusions from studies pertaining to the status of digitisation of the Polish schools in the context of implementation of the STEAM model as a concept for developing competence of tomorrow. Results of studies conducted in June 2017 among pupils, parents and teachers are presented. The study was prepared and conducted by a team of researchers/academic employees of the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw in cooperation with PCG Edukacja under the supervision of the author of this paper. The study encompassed 100,129 respondents from primary schools, middle schools, high schools, technical schools and vocational schools from all provinces in Poland. Opis:: This paper critically assesses Business Process Management (BPM) education in Poland and provides evidence-based recommendations for improvement. Through a survey of 44 BPM educators, the study evaluates BPM lifecycle coverage, IT tool utilization, and incorporation of the Six Core Elements of BPM. The findings reveal a focus on process modeling and analysis, identifying gaps in the way the entire BPM lifecycle is addressed. Despite the utilization of various IT tools, there is a notable absence of coverage for emerging topics such as process mining, AI, and Robotic Process Automation. Only 12% of courses cover all Six Core Elements of BPM, and there is a critical gap in student education, which is the underrepresentation of the People and Culture elements. The paper concludes with a manifesto for greater alignment between academic education and industry needs through comprehensive BPM curricula, dedicated software tools, and more robust coverage of the strategic and governance aspects of BPM. This will bridge the gap between academic education and real-world BPM applications, so that graduates can be better prepared for the challenges of the modern business landscape, which can enhance the quality and effectiveness of BPM education, thereby aligning it with the evolving demands of the business environment and contributing to the growth and competitiveness of organizations in Poland.

Opis:: The widespread use of information and communication technologies (ICT) nowadays provokes reflection on the teacher’s professional role in the education process. The transformation of the teacher’s role from the traditional one which perceives teaching only as a way of transmitting knowledge, to the new approach in which the teacher is seen as a mentor helping students in their autonomous human progress, seems to be a very important issue in the management of education. The process depends on the variety of factors. The author presents the results of research conducted among the teachers in one of Polish secondary schools. The results show relation between willingness of taking the new role in teaching and the level of ICT knowledge. The understanding of threats brought by ICT and the Internet to education is also an important factor.

Opis:: The so-called latest technologies in the world of today constitute an indispensable component of teaching or learning foreign languages. Given as an obvious element of social life, they are regarded by teachers as effi cient tools for acquiring and perfecting various skills, such as communicative ones. The dynamic development of the multimedia, also in the area of language teaching, incessantly faces language teachers with new challenges, whose aim is to fully utilise the potential of the latest technologies in the process of language teaching that respects learners’ individual needs. Opis:: Today’s children, so-called Digital Natives (digital natives), in contrast to their parents and teachers, who are called Digital Immigrants (digital immigrants), live in the world of media. Their childhood is strongly related to the TV. Afterwards they enter the world of the Internet, computer games, mobile phones. The tools that are in use are in their major part shaped by a man so the involvement of the younger generation in the world of the media has significant impact on the process of education. The article discusses the impact of the media on the formation of two types of intelligence — the cognitive and the emotional ones, that are most strongly associated with education. These effects have both the cultural and the neuronal level. The paper presents the process of education in the world dominated by media as a situation that educators are supposed to deal with, and takes into account the need to implement education for rational and responsible use of the media.

Opis:: Keywords: high-order thinking, development of thinking, education system, digital technologies. The authors address the problem of the development of high-order thinking. The article offers an overview of approaches to actualizing the transformation of the concept of reflexive design thinking to higher-order thinking. The authors concluded that society’s demand for higher-order thinkers can be solved by reviewing the construction of the learning process. This hypothesis was tested on the example of the B.A. students of vocational training at Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU). The results of the experiment led to the conclusion about the possibility of using high technology as a factor contributing to the development of high-order thinking (including self-consciousness).
W artykule autorzy zajmują się problemem rozwoju myślenia wyższego rzędu. Tekst zawiera przegląd podejść do transformacji koncepcji refleksyjnego myślenia projektowego na myślenie wyższego rzędu. Autorzy doszli do wniosku, że droga do odpowiedzi jak zaspokajać zapotrzebowanie społeczeństwa na osoby o wysokim poziomie myślenia, rozpoczyna się od analizy procesów uczenia się i nauczania. Hipotezę tę przetestowano na przykładzie grupy studentów Państwowego Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Nowosybirsku. Wyniki eksperymentu doprowadziły do wniosku o możliwości zastosowania zaawansowanej technologii jako czynnika przyczyniającego się do rozwoju myślenia wyższego rzędu (w tym samoświadomości).

Opis:: The article considers the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for higher education in Ukraine and in the world. The results of research by the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, the European Association for International Education are analyzed. The impact of the pandemic on teaching and learning is determined. International academic mobility and cooperation, as well as the financial situation of higher education are described. In addition, diffculties, fears and challenges faced by higher education institutions around the world during the corona crisis, which require swift and adequate action, are presented. The main part of the article shows the results of a survey of teachers and students of higher education institutions of Ukraine, devoted to the analysis of problems and challenges faced by students in the transition to distance learning, as well as new productive opportunities created by the online format. The main problems faced by the main participants in the educational process include the quality of teaching and organization of the distance learning process, the growth of the workload of teachers and students, technical and fiancial problems. The results of the survey show both the assessment and satisfaction with the measures already taken by higher education institutions to ensure quality and effective distance learning, and help to understand the next productive steps to be taken to expand teaching and distance learning opportunities and access to learning opportunities during life. Educators’ assessment of the opportunities and benefis created by the distance learning format demonstrates the motivation of teachers to improve their own skills and abilities, mastering the new tools required by the distance learning format. In the case of students, such advantages become first of all economical ones, e.g. expansion of opportunities for a combination of study and work as well as economy of time and means.
W artykule analizie poddano konsekwencje pandemii COVID-19 dla szkolnictwa wyższego w Ukrainie i na świecie oraz wyniki badań Międzynarodowego Stowarzyszenia Uniwersytetów, Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Uniwersytetów i Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Edukacji Międzynarodowej. Określono m.in. wpływ pandemii na nauczanie i uczenie się, a także scharakteryzowano: międzynarodową mobilność akademicką i współpracę; sytuację finansową szkolnictwa wyższego; trudności, zagrożenia i wyzwania, przed którymi stoją instytucje szkolnictwa wyższego na całym świecie podczas ograniczeń pandemicznych. Ponadto przedstawiono wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród nauczycieli i studentów ukraińskich uczelni wyższych, poświęconej analizie problemów i wyzwań stojących przed uczelniami w procesie przejścia na kształcenie na odległość, a także nowych możliwości, które oferuje format online. Główne problemy, z którymi borykają się uczestnicy procesu edukacyjnego, obejmują: jakość nauczania i organizację procesu kształcenia na odległość, wzrost obciążenia pracą nauczycieli i uczniów oraz problemy techniczne i finansowe. Wyniki badania z jednej strony pozwalają dokonać oceny i określić stopień zadowolenia z działań już podjętych przez instytucje szkolnictwa wyższego w celu zapewnienia wysokiej jakości i skutecznego kształcenia na odległość, a z drugiej strony pomagają zrozumieć kolejne kroki, które należy podjąć w celu rozszerzenia możliwości nauczania i kształcenia na odległość oraz dostępu do możliwości uczenia się w ciągu życia. Dokonana przez nauczycieli ocena możliwości i korzyści wynikających z kształcenia na odległość pokazuje motywację nauczycieli do doskonalenia własnych umiejętności i zdolności oraz do opanowania nowych narzędzi wymaganych przy zdalnym kształceniu. W przypadku studentów korzyści z takiej formy nauki są przede wszystkim ekonomiczne, np. rozszerzenie możliwości połączenia nauki i pracy oraz ekonomia czasu i środków.

Opis:: The exponential growth of technological advancements creates an environment in which the traditionally conceived cognitive enhancement – education – must constantly redefine itself in the face of the invasive presence of A.I., the social media and various biotechnologies that strive to augment the effect-oriented performance. Whereas on the conceptual level there is a visible shift from the static to flow-modelled education, and the rising trend to invest in the skills like flexibility and creativity, not many of emerging technologies are seriously considered as educational tools. The paper looks into the varieties of cognitive enhancement within educational context. Of major concern are the already available technologies of collective intelligence and nootropics, as well as experimental dowloadable learning. I review the problems occasioned by these technologies, as well as the existing solutions, which tend to incorporate rather than exclude the possibilities of radical cognitive enhancement.

Opis:: This study comprises an analysis of the school education system in the context of using modern technologies. Its main goal is to present the benefits and limitations associated with the implementation of modern technologies in the school environment. Two fundamental questions will be asked: 1) What are the effects of using new technologies in education, including intercultural education? 2) Can modern technologies pave the way for implementing the ideal of education as an activity aimed primarily at shaping an individual capable of effective and creative adaptation to the social reality in which otherness, including cultural otherness, is common? The authors indicate the types of implemented technologies and assess their impact on adapting students to the extracurricular reality. Referring to the source data and postulates of the contemporary pedagogical and sociological thought, the authors highlight the topicality of the message requiring from the school the activation and development of students’ competencies that will be effectively and creatively implemented in their future professional and social life. It should also be noted that education takes place in cyberspace as well, especially when it is related to the use of modern technologies, which is why great importance should be drawn to cybersecurity.
