Opis:
Once the school education had become common and mandatory, persons who were engaged in teaching obtained the professional status. In the past, professionalization of teachers occurred under various educational forms. Already in the 18th century, at the universities and academies (in Cracow, and Vilnius), teaching seminars had been organized which, as time passed, became common teachers’ educational centres having the status of the secondary schools. In the course of time, they had been transformed into the schools of higher educational level. Paying a lot of attention to the formation of the professional attitudes of the future teachers was a very essential feature of those schools. With hindsight one could say that the teachers’ schools strongly insisted on the process of the professional formation of the candidates for this profession. In the second half of the 20th century, the idea of obligatory teachers’ education at the level of the higher studies (college and professional ones) prevailed. Along with it, regardless of the official guidelines, the issues regarding the selection of the candidates for this profession were pushed on the back of the teachers’ education, together with the issues regarding their professional predispositions and development of the ethical and moral attitudes that provide for the teachers’ professional ethos. Blameworthy behaviour of certain teachers educators is the direct result of that process, which is being noticed by the society, especially, the parents. Furthermore, such behaviour has become the subject matter of the evaluation in the common courts. Easy access to the profession of a teacher has resulted in its degradation in public awareness. Today, anybody who has a college degree can be a teacher (yet, it is not a clear-cut requirement) and who shows the document confirming that this person has passed severaldozen-hour pedagogical course that authorises to perform this profession. No profession where the public trust is conferred upon has the process of professional formation as simplified as this one. Other professions require professional apprenticeship that provide grounds for evaluation of this process as well as optimal fitness in terms of responsibility for its performance.

Opis:
The paper deals with a normative characterisation of education and, to be more precise, with the problems, values, and modes of forming for the principal cognitive value, which is truth. In its aspect of formation for truth, education reveals two dimensions: negative and positive. The negative aspect stresses in the formative process the unmasking of lies and opposition to this main deformation of appropriate formation. The paper addresses also such aspects as the attitude of the liar (e.g. confession and contrition), the aspect of forgiveness and reparation, both in its social and anthropological-theological dimension. The more important dimension in formation is the positive dimension. It consists in establishing a truthful relationship between the educator and the pupil. It is especially important in the formative process to lay stress on the critical awareness of the pupil and the sapiental domain of truth, to which the educator should direct his or her pupil. If one of this spheres of activity is missing, or there is no testimony, the relationship between the educator and the truth may be deformed. The paper comes to a close with some remarks on self-formation, which is the key dimension of man's formation. Education and educators seek not so much to inform or form the other person, but to show, lead, and make present to their pupil the most essential values for the personal life.

Nowadays, the main issue is no longer whetherto study or not, but what should be studied. Th is approach carries the risk of makinga mistake, i.e. choosing the wrong fi eld of study, which will aff ect the whole future lifeof a student. Not only does the achieved education involve particular economic attributes(like job position, the level of earnings) or social ones (like values, prestige),but also the choice of the life partner, which is not commonly recognised.

In the modern world, man has more and more responsibilities. Integration of thought, attitude, and activities providing “wisdom of life”, which guarantees careful activities in everyday life, is not enough. In nowadays era of fast changes, it is not enough to be a mature man in a sense of human cultural behavior, the needs are greater, anticipated thought and the ability to communicate with another man is necessary. Survival of man and overcoming the ecological crisis becomes a complex problem, which should be regarded as a system, a synthesis of theory and practice in many disciplines of science. A man prepared for service to the environment is called "Survival man". The "survival man" is a term, which refers to an integrally formed personality, that has a mature personality, prepared to coexist with other creatures. The "survival man" can integrate with others, make personal contacts "beyond boundaries" and also has the feeling of their vocation and their own place in nature. In order for these necessary dispositions of modern man, to become permanent behavior that is deeply motivated, the need for long-lasting bridging up process, after which follows later shaping in order for a man to achieve readiness to serve and act in a certain area. If a man is to serve, both to himself and others, first he has to reach to the deepest layers of the inner self - from sincerity to truth, in the bring in gup process. In order to reach full awareness of his role in the world.

Referring to the transformations and social conditions that affect also the field of adult education, this text raises the following questions: By what conceptual tools, in the current postmodern context, can adult education develop its issues? What does it mean today to be an adult learner? In what form of education? The text analyzes the challenges that may influence the practice of education and indicates development proposals. The transformations concern the reconfiguration in the field of education and the meanings that are commonly assigned to it.

Second Republic of Poland, ecological education, education for the protection of nature, formation of ecological attitudes, more than material value of nature
Opis:
In the Second Republic of Poland, the education for the protection of nature was a part of an implicit didactic and educational process realized in primary and secondary schools – first of all as part of the education in natural science and geography (tourism). The kind of educational climate was created, connected with the establishment of protective care and sensibility for the natural environment, especially the indigenous nature. The article presents the analysis and interpretation of the printed sources, among others the publications by Maximilian Heilpern, Konrad Chmielewski, Hipolita Selmowiczówna-Gnoińska and Maria Lipska-Librachowa as well as Bronisław Gustawicz, Mieczysław Brzeziński, which were used in the didactic and educational practice in the period of the Second Republic of Poland in the process of shaping ecological attitudes. Many of them originated still in the years of Poland’s enslavement. They form valuable historical sources for studying, explaining and understanding the ecological education in the interwar period (1918–1939) – as an antecedence of the newest development trends in the educational theory and practice on ecology

Freedom is one of the most fervently fought for values and, at the same time, the very idea of freedom belongs to concepts that are essentially contested. This situation is a part of human brokenness, and in Christian formation, it has to be seriously dealt with. According to the popular view, ‘holiness’ is a life-negating and judgmental attitude towards everything ‘normal.’ In biblical usage, it connotes belonging to God as a gift in Christ. Spiritual formation begins with a biblical explanation of freedom and holiness. A Christian worldview has to be the background to Christian formation, functioning as a correction of the commonly- accepted naturalistic worldview. A personal experiential relationship with God is the key to successful growth towards realistic and practical holiness in daily life. ‘Dos and don’ts’ that usually arise at the beginning of religious education shall be experienced as liberating instructions, if they are offered as guidance to a fully persuaded mind and a devotedly loving heart.

This article discusses the document Meeting Jesus, presented by the Italian Episcopal Commission. In seeking to give guide-lines for the proclamation and catechesis of the faith in Italy it becomes one of the most important documents in recent years that deal with the new evangelization that assists the whole Church in the announcing of the Gospel and the journey of faith. The document highlights certain homogeneity in reading the cultural, social, ecclesial and pastoral situation in which the pro-cesses of formation and education are realized. This helps the development of the “catechetical needs” and the specific paths of di-ocesan and national guidelines. It also reveals the possibility of a comparison at the inter-diocesan level between formators and a mutual support in the evaluation of projects and activity. To realize the training of formators and of members of the diocesan teams “in the wise work of coordinating and leading” it is important to work on the same lines proposed by the Guidelines.

This article is a methodological continuation of the content presented in the first part of the author's research (“Media Education and the New Evangelization. Part One: Media Components and Challenges”, Verbum Vitae 37 [2020] 407-425) and represents an implementation of the concepts outlined there. In that previous text, the author demonstrated that pursuing a new evangelization in the Church demands the media education of evangelizers and their cooperation with the leaders of media education. This present article is aimed at formulating pastoral postulates and educational proposals based on the issues and connections that emerged. The first section outlines the postulates and educational proposals relating to those in charge of ongoing formation and who serve in the Church on the basis of the canonical authorization to teach (missio canonica). The second section contains postulates that apply to the formation of lay people and future clergy in preparing for evangelization in the Church. The third section focuses on a group of postulates concerning school religious education in light of the current Core Curriculum of the Catechesis of the Catholic Church in Poland (2018). This paper concludes with four research issues in the area of media education in the Church in the context of the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The methods of the third research stage borrow from the methodological paradigm of pastoral theology, mainly in its methods of analysis and synthesis, and have been applied in the article.
