    Opis:
    The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of different factors on crime by estimating structural parameters of a simple model of the supply function of the murder rate in American states in 2009. Results suggest that demographic variables play an important role in explaining this phenomenon, as well as the probability of execution given murder and inequality with its nonmonotonic influence. In the first section research is embedded in a proper context. Second section gives a descreption of the research framework. Third section presents the results of the estimation. Fourth section presents the discussion of the estimates and the final fifth section closes the article with concluding remarks.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to identify the changes of selected economic variables in Japan, Poland, the USA and the euro area and to evaluate the impact of these variables on these economies in 2000–2022. The hypothesis posed in the article: The economies of Japan, Poland, the USA and the euro zone have overcome the economic shocks that occurred in the first two decades of the 21st century. Methodology: The study included a review of the literature on the subject, the presentation and analysis of statistical data, including its graphical presentation. Six economic indicators were selected for analysis, such as: the unemployment rate, inflation, General Government debt, long-term interest rates, GDP per capita, and GDP growth in Japan, Poland, the United States and the euro area in 2000–2022. Results of the research: Over the past 20 years, economies have been hit by unprecedented crises such as the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and Covid-19, and yet we note that the surveyed countries and the euro zone showed positive economic growth for most of the period and successfully fought unemployment. Japan tried to get out of periods of deflation, but out of the examined 23 years, deflation was recorded in Japan for 15 years. In the years 2000–2022, the highest economic growth was most often recorded in Poland and the lowest in Japan, but the highest inflation was also most often recorded in Poland. In all the surveyed countries and the euro zone, a tendency to increase the GG of debt was clearly noticed.

    The paper analyzes the spatial diversification in economic development of the Polish powiats (administrative spatial units of second degree) in the years 2002–2007. The variables considered in the research are as follows: gross capital assets per capita, investment outlays per capita, wages, and unemployment rates. Some taxonomic indicators based on distance in the Euclidean and in the city space were computed by means of the afore-mentioned variables. It follows from the analysis that the powiats typified by the highest level of development are the ones that before 1999 used to be capital towns of the previous administrative regions, as well as the ones that make part of huge agglomeration cities. The powiats located east of the Vistula river, and on agricultural areas are by far least developed. In the period under investigation the spatial diversification increased by little degree.

    The aim of this paper is to present the local diversification of the economic development of counties in Malopolskie voivodship between 2002 and 2008 year. Authors used a set of stimulants (total sold production of industry per capita, gross value of fixed assets per capita, investment per capita and wages) and one destimulant (unemployment rate) to estimate the economic development taxonomic indicators of 22 counties in Malopolska. The results proved that Cracow and Tarnow had the highest values of the indicator. Not too far behind them were the following counties: chrzanowski, olkuski i oświęcimski oraz Nowy Sącz. Contrary to this, the lowest values of the development indicator could be observed in: proszowicki, miechowski, dąbrowski and tarnowski counties.

    Celem artykułu jest zbadanie dynamiki przemian w sferze społeczno-gospodarczej państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej w latach 1980-2013. Artykuł składa się dwóch części. Pierwsza ma charakter metodyczny, druga zawiera ważniejsze wyniki badań, m.in. ukazuje analizę czasowo-przestrzenną zmian HDI w krajach Unii Europejskiej (UE).
    The aim of the paper is to analyze the dynamic economic and social changes that are observed in countries in European Union countries from 1980 to 2013. The article consists of two parts. In the first one methods used in analyses were shown, the second one includes the most important results of research, among others, the changes of HDI index in countries in Europe were presented.
