The paper is an attempt to determine the condition of ecological awareness – pro-environmental attitudes of students from Poland and Slovakia, as well as correlation between the pro-environmental attitude declared by the youth and their place of residence. Apart from willingness to get to know beliefs, opinions and the condition of knowledge in many particular issues re-lated to the subject, the paper has the following purposes: to learn dependence between personal features of people and the condition of their ecological awareness, to determine the degree of consistency of beliefs in different matters relating to the examined problems, to compare the force of interaction of particular sources of information on particular population categories.

One of important factors of attractiveness of a region is its natural environment, namely a set of natural elements which are of interest to a tourist. In terms of economy, it is a source of raw materials and energy, it ensures geographical space, business opportunities and a place to live and relax. The aim of the research included in this article is to indicate the possibility of using synthetic measurement to recognize spatial disparities of the natural environment on the basis of selected diagnostic features of 102 municipalities of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The data presented in this article refer to 2009, 2012 and 2015 and come from the Local Data Bank. The following variables were selected: the total use of household water per one inhabitant, the distribution network per 100 km2 - water pipe system, the distribution network per 100 km2 – sewage system, woodland area, areas protected by law, protected monuments. The elements indicated refer to entities which function and operate in a territorial unit. The methods presented enable us to identify areas of human life (or human impact on the environment) of higher/lower efficiency (which depends on the level of synthetic measure) and, then, programme their support from public funds within the framework of the regional policy.

The level of environmental protection awareness among students is not sufficient. Although the research was carried out at an interval of 11 years, the state of awareness has not changed to the extent expected, and, in some areas, the studies show a decrease in taking environmental action. Raising the level of environmental awareness and shaping attitudes is only possible in the course of environmental education and comprehensive information on the condition and needs of the environment and the pro-environmental activities being taken in the immediate and more distant environment. Students’ level of knowledge shows the need to take immediate actions which influence the information resource as a base to start shaping pro-environmental awareness. Ecologically aware individual will be undertaking in daily life environmentally friendly activities and will be making choices that are not harmful for the environment. The fact of deterioration of results indicates the need for intensive environmental education and verification of the effectiveness of various institutions in this respect.
Poziom świadomości w zakresie ochrony środowiska wśród studentów nie jest wystarczający. Mimo że opisywane badania przeprowadzone zostały w odstępie 11 lat, nie zmienił się on w stopniu oczekiwanym, a w niektórych obszarach nastąpił nawet spadek podejmowanych działań proekologicznych. Podnoszenie poziomu świadomości ekologicznej i kształtowanie postaw możliwe jest tylko w toku edukacji ekologicznej i obszernego informowania na temat stanu i potrzeb środowiska oraz działań prośrodowiskowych prowadzonych w najbliższym i dalszym otoczeniu. Stan wiedzy studentów wskazuje na konieczność podjęcia natychmiastowych kroków, by wpłynąć na zasób informacji będących bazą do rozpoczęcia kształtowania świadomości prośrodowiskowej. Świadoma ekologicznie jednostka będzie w codziennym życiu działała w sposób przyjazny dla środowiska i dokonywała wyborów, które nie będą środowisku szkodziły. Przedstawione wyniki badań wskazują na konieczność intensywnej edukacji ekologicznej oraz weryfikacji skuteczności działań różnych instytucji w tym zakresie.

Research background: A rapidly developing e-commerce market and growing customer expectations regarding the speed and frequency of deliveries have made the last mile of the supply chain more challenging. The expectations of e-customers increase every year. They choose those companies that deliver goods faster and cheaper than others. A significant group of customers in Poland still selects home delivery. Many of them frequently return products to the retailer. These expectations and behaviour pose a challenge for the transport companies to deliver parcels to individual customers soon after the purchase, sometimes even on the same day. In addition, increasingly frequent deliveries contribute to environmental pollution, congestion, and accidents, as well as more expensive deliveries. Purpose of the article: The paper aims to identify e-customers' preferences and assess their impact on sustainable last-mile delivery (LMD) in the e-commerce market. The authors have also identified factors influencing e-customers' behaviour to make last-mile delivery more sustainable. Methods: The conjoint analysis was applied to evaluate a set of profiles defined by selected attributes in order to investigate the overall preferences for the profiles created by the respondents to the survey. Findings & value added: The segmentation of e-customers according to their preferences connected with last-mile delivery was presented. The added value of the paper is the presentation of the methodology to assess the impact of customer preferences on sustainable last-mile delivery. The obtained results may contribute to the formulation of recommendations for e-commerce and logistics companies regarding the preferences of e-customers to improve the sustainability of last-mile delivery.

One of the most important problems of the present day is the safety of the existence of a human being and his or her cultural, civilizational and environmental existence. The idea about what should be done in order to guarantee the safe existence of species is the reason for the discussion within the broad circles of those dealing with science and also philosophy, and in particular eco-philosophy. It is eco-philosophy that truly focuses on substantiating the ways of thinking as well as the rules governing the committed and well-thought actions related to the environmental protection. Educational initiatives for sustainable development are open to the influence of eco-philosophy. Therefore, the need to fill educational strategies and programs with the subtle philosophical “matter”, expressed in the form of values and related behavioral norms, opens a significantly large space for eco-philosophers and the eco-philosophy itself. It needs to be emphasized that the relation between the education for sustainable development and the activities aimed at strengthening the structures of the civil society creates additional interest on the part of numerous social entities as regards the philosophical discourse.

Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę przedstawienia wpływu mediów elektronicznych na rozwój świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa. W dobie globalizacji zachodzącej w wielu dziedzinach życia społecznego, politycznego, gospodarczego i kulturalnego Internet odgrywa coraz większą rolę. W artykule omówiono wpływ Internetu na budowanie wiedzy ekologicznej oraz wkład Internetu w rozwój handlu, w tym także handlu elektronicznego. W części doświadczalnej omówiono wyniki badań ankiety przeprowadzonej w Internecie, jak również dokonano oceny wybranych sklepów internetowych z żywnością ekologiczną. Internet jako źródło informacji cieszy się dużym powodzeniem. Jednak konsumenci podchodzą do informacji zamieszczanych w Internecie z różną wiarygodnością, zależną od wieku badanych. Praktycznym wykorzystaniem edukacji ekologicznej opartej na mediach elektronicznych jest sprzedaż żywności ekologicznej przez Internet. Wydaje się, że w dobie postępującej globalizacji ta forma sprzedaży będzie w przyszłości zyskiwała na znaczeniu. Przeprowadzona analiza oferty handlowej w wybranych sklepach internetowych wykazała, że placówki te dysponują przede wszystkim żywnością utrwaloną i przetworzoną. Stwierdzono, że produktami ekologicznymi cieszącymi się największym powodzeniem wśród konsumentów są warzywa i owoce świeże, jednak stanowią one zaledwie kilka procent ogólnej masy towarowej.
The article attempts to present the influence of electronic media on the development of the society's ecological awareness. At the times of globalisation, which is happening in many domains of the social, political, economic and cultural life, the Internet is becoming more and more important. The article contains description of the Internet 's influence on the ecological knowledge development and its contribution to the evolution of the market, among others to the electronic market's evolution. The results of the questionnaire, which was carried out in the Internet, are discussed in the experimental part, as well as the evaluation of the chosen Internet shops with organic food. The Internet is highly regarded as an information source. However, consumers treat information available in the Internet with different credibility, dependent on the age of the respondent. A practical application of electronic media-based ecological education is offered by the Internet organic food retail. It seems that in the age of progressive globalisation this form of trade will increase its importance in the future. The analysis of retail offer of selected Internet stores reveals that these ventures supply primarily preserved and processed food. It has been affirmed that fresh fruit and vegetables are the organic products most popular among the consumers, however, they constitute only a few percent of the total sales.

Celem artykułu było określenie poziomu wiedzy społeczeństwa o zagrożeniach, jakie mogą być związane z występowaniem w środowisku i żywności takich związków chemicznych jak dioksyny i akrylamid. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród mieszkańców województwa pomorskiego dotyczących oceny poziomu wiedzy o tych substancjach, ich powstawaniu oraz o ograniczaniu ich rozprzestrzeniania się i toksycznego działania na organizm człowieka. Przedstawione wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród wybranej populacji wynika, że poziom wiedzy oraz świadomości na temat zagrożeń ze strony toksycznych dioksyn i akrylamidu jest niezadowalający. Respondenci nie zdają sobie sprawy z możliwości powstawania niebezpiecznych dioksyn w trakcie niskotemperaturowych procesów spalania oraz ich przenoszenia na otaczające tereny uprawne. Tylko 1/3 badanych jest świadoma możliwości powstania niebezpiecznych związków podczas smażenia, natomiast większość nie jest tego pewna lub o tym nie wie. Część badanych, która kupuje żywność ekologiczną uważa, że uchroni ich ona od wystąpienia szkodliwych substancji w posiłkach, a część twierdzi, że w dzisiejszych czasach takie substancje w żywności i środowisku nie występują.
The aim of the present paper is to describe the level of citizens' knowledge about the threat which may appear in connection with occurrence of compounds such as dioxins and acrylamide in the environment and food. Additionally, the article reports results of questionnaire studies conducted among pomeranian district citizens, concerning assessment of their knowledge about these substances, their formation and the containment of their spreading and toxic effect on the human organism. The reported results of studies in the chosen population show that the level of knowledge and awareness about the threat from toxic dioxins and acrylamide is insufficient. The respondents do not realize that dangerous dioxins may form during lowtemperature combustion processes and may be transformed to the surrounding arable land. Only 1/3 of the respondents are aware of the possibility of formation of dangerous substances during frying, while the majority are either uncertain or just don't know about it. A part of the respondents that buy organic food think that it protects them from harmful substances in their meals, and some of them claim that such substances do not occur at present.

In the era of growing consumerism, the generation of various types of waste has become a standard from which it is difficult to break free. This, combined with the ever faster shrinkage of natural resources, forces us to search for effective ways of recovering used and unwanted resources from Polish households. This state of affairs becomes a direction that determines activities for a large number of entities operating within various logistic chains. The changing market and legal environment forces producers, but also Polish farms to look for savings, which in turn translates into a more rational policy of these entities. In connection with the above, Polish families are also changing their approach to the issues related to the waste generated within them. Therefore, it seems reasonable to implement logistic strategies in Polish farms related to the optimal use of resources, including those that are no longer needed. The article examines the level of awareness in Polish households on issues related to waste recovery and the knowledge of basic issues related to the implementation of ecologistic concepts in households.

Jak pokazują przykłady z innych krajów posłużenie się wynikami tak przeprowadzonych badań pozwala na lepsze wdrożenie planów ochrony oraz pełniejsze zdiagnozowanie stanu świadomości ekologicznej danej społeczności. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia te metody i pokazuje w jaki sposób należy je wykorzystywać, w zestawieniu z powszechnie stosowanymi w ochronie środowiska metodami ilościowymi.
The possibilities that the qualitative research methods in social studies gives for the analyses in ecological awareness of small societies are not commonly known and applied in our country. As the examples from other countries shown, using the research results based on these methods allows for better introduction of conservation plans and complete diagnosing of the ecological awareness. This paper shows what they are and how to use these methods in comparison to the popular in polish conservation quantitive research.

Ludzie zaczęli rozumieć potrzebę myślenia o środowisku i jego ochronie, wiedzą, że nie są jedynym gatunkiem na ziemi, nie mają uprzywilejowanych praw do korzystania z tego środowiska i odkryli, że stan tego, co ich otacza, ma wpływ na ich życie. Świadomość ekologiczna to myślenie i przeżycia poszczególnych ludzi oraz funkcjonujące społeczne standardy pojmowania i wartościowania biosfery. Ważne jest więc, aby poprzez różnorodne akcje, badania, publikowane artykuły rozbudować u ludzi tą świadomość. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie świadomości mieszkańców okolic Częstochowy na temat środowiska naturalnego w okolicach ich miejsca zamieszkania. Badanie przeprowadzono w formie ankiety internetowej. Wyniki ankiety pokazać, jaki jest stan środowiska naturalnego i powietrza na badanym terenie. Przedstawione zostaną działania gmin, które według mieszkańców mają wpływ na jego środowisko. Przedstawiono zachowanie mieszkańców, którzy także oddziałują na to środowisko.
People begin to understand the need to think about the environment and its protection, they know that they are not the only species on earth, they do not have a special right to use the environment and have discovered that the state of what surrounds them has a direct impact on their lives. Ecological awareness is the thinking and experiences of individual people and the functioning of social standards of understanding and valuing the biosphere. Therefore, it is important to expand awareness in people through various actions, research, published articles. The purpose of the paper to examine the awareness of the inhabitants of the Częstochowa area about the natural environment near their place of residence. The results of the research show what is the state of the natural environment and air in the research area. The actions of communes, which, according to residents, have an impact on its environment, are analysed. The behavior of residents who also influence this environment is presented.

W okresie znacznego zanieczyszczenia środowiska oraz nadmiernego i nieracjonalnego wykorzystania nieodnawialnych surowców gospodarka cyrkularna, nazywana zamiennie gospodarką o obiegu zamkniętym, jest szansą dla obecnych i przyszłych pokoleń. Aby możliwe było przejście z gospodarki linearnej na gospodarkę cyrkularną, muszą być spełnione dwa warunki. Pierwszy dotyczy odpowiedniej produkcji, drugi odpowiedniej konsumpcji. Konsumenci oraz producenci muszą traktować odpady jako surowce, które można zawrócić do obiegu. Aby zmienić podejście społeczeństwa w tej kwestii, należy zintensyfikować oraz dopasować edukację ekologiczną do aktualnych potrzeb. Dostosowując metody edukacji, należy zbadać najpierw poziom świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa i zastanowić się, na jakie aspekty zwrócić szczególną uwagę. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych w dwóch grupach: młodzieży oraz dorosłych. Ankietowanie dotyczyło zachowań prośrodowiskowych oraz wiedzy o odpadach. Na podstawie przeanalizowanych odpowiedzi można stwierdzić, że świadomość ekologiczna w dwóch badanych grupach jest na różnych poziomach.
In the times of substantial pollution of the environment and excessive and irrational utilization of the fossil fuels the circular economy is the chance for better tomorrow for current and future generations. To make the change from the linear economy to the circular economy possible, two crucial conditions have to be implemented. One of them is for appropriate production, the second for proper consumption. Consumers have to treat the waste as a raw materials that can be re-used returning to the circulation. To change the approach of the society regarding this problem it is crucial to intensify and adjust ecological education to our needs. Prior to adjusting the methods of education it is important to examine the level of ecological awareness of the society and determine the missing aspects. In this article we present the results of surveys conducted on two age groups: teenagers and adults. The survey concerned about pro environmental behaviour and overall knowledge about waste. Given the results, it can be concluded that there are major differences in the knowledge between two examined age groups.
