Opis:
This paper investigates differences in salaries among 35 th. of graduates of 99 faculties (or equivalent units) in Poland specialized in the field of study “economic sciences” (economics, management, finance, etc.). The study, which is based on data from the Polish Graduates Tracking System (GTS), covers the entire population. First, the ranking of faculties was prepared. It proved that the noticeable differences exist in financial success at the early stage of career of graduates of different faculties. The hypothesis about poorer chances for financial success of graduates from private business schools was denied. Finally the hypothesis about advantage of graduates of faculties located in bigger cities was confirmed. The correlation between city size and salaries is moderately strong.

On the other hand, developmental needs of novices who are in their early adulthood stimulate them to combine their personal intentions with the opportunities offered by the organization in the strive for goals exceeding those set by the organization. This process may be labeled the subjecting of organizational reality. Personal prospect of employee’s development should be considered a valuable variable in the research on professional start.

Opis:
During 2013, the University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) introduced an innovative research internship initiative aimed at early career academic researchers. The Connecting with Collections (CwC) scheme offered six interns from British universities the opportunity to gain hands-on museum experience, while working independently on individual research projects within the collections of the UCM consortium. This paper presents: 1. An Overview of Connecting with Connections Scheme: programme rationale, aims and funding, recruitment and project choice. 2. Training and Opportunities: group training sessions, as well as snapshots of individual experiences within the museums and 3. Internship Outputs: including an end-of-internship Symposium and other outcomes for interns. It briefly surveys the six internship projects before drawing some conclusions about the CwC programme and highlighting some of the debates around the future direction of the internship scheme for UCM.

Opis:
At the time of an economic crisis and its psychological consequences the attitudes and activity of young adults, who are just starting their vocational life, are of great significance. Graduates from colleges and universities are a very important group among them. Their abilities have an impact upon the intellectual potential of the country’s economy, and consequently upon its novelty. The presented research concentrated upon the knowledge of graduates about ongoing changes and tendencies in the labour market, and their ability to communicate their needs in this respect. The study comprised 602 students of the final years of B.A. and M.A. studies, since they are confronted with making a decision concerning their future jobs. Decisions made at that time have a long-lasting influence on the quality of their life. It is therefore worthwhile to acquire better knowledge on the inner motives of their choices.

IIn the paper “Career in the narratives of early adolescents” I set out to describe the selected aspects of constructing an identity during adolescence in the context of prospective professional development among young individuals, who seek to define their future selves. The paper also outlines the social and cultural context of constructing a career, which should potentially be addressed by young individuals long before they enter the labour market. The paper also describes the selected findings of my own concerning career narratives constructed by early adolescents, descriptions of selected career aspects provided by middle school students, and their personal predictions and plans on their prospective life as professionals.

Opis:
When he left France in July 1624 to go to England, on young Louis XIII’s order, Antoine Coiffier de Ruzé, Marquis d’Effiat, began his very first diplomatic trip. Despite his functions, the Marquis d’Effiat never accomplished any diplomatic mission of any kind. However, a few years earlier, he negotiated the marriage of Honoré d’Albert, a Duke of Luynes’s brother. Thus, in 1624, he was entrusted with the delicate mission to bring England and France together through the marriage of Henrietta-Maria of France, the King’s sister, to Charles, Prince of Wales. This is an extraordinary embassy and the dispatches of the ambassador have been preserved as well as the replies of Louis XIII and the Secretary of State, Antoine de Lomenie. This allows us to observe an evolution both in Effiat’s account of his actions and the content of the points negotiated, and the way his work was staged. Despite his age, the Marquis d’Effiat was new to diplomacy. He was familiar with the royal French court but his ignorance about England and diplomatic practices raises questions about the King’s choice of sending him across the Channel. This ignorance of diplomatic customs includes negotiation strategies, but also the body language that an ambassador must adopt to serve the interests of his master and extensively described in 16th century treatises on ambassadors. This article aims to compare the ambassador’s discourse with the diplomatic accomplishment. The interest of this embassy, besides its political and religious stakes, is that it makes it possible to observe its fears of error and procrastination through the correspondence of the marquis.
