    Opis:
    This study offers some examples of John Chrysostom’s pastoral care for non- Greek- speaking peasants who lived around Antioch and spoke Syrian, and also the Goths present in Constantinople who spoke Gothic. The analysis of written sources allowed us to distinguish two main points in teaching the non- Greek- speaking congregation. The first one was based on directing the Word to foreigners in Greek but with a help from interpreters who simultaneously interpreted a homily or catechesis. The second one was based on delegating the teaching to priests or catechists of foreign origin so they could directly address a particular community in their own language. The study also brings to attention the cultural accommodation used by Chrysostom in his homily to Goths. From John Chrysostom’s pastoral experience it can be concluded that, apart from missionary fervour and communication context, not just anyone who was willing could be a keryx. He should show not only a religious zeal, know the Church teachings and the language of people, who he wants to evangelize, but also he should be familiar with mentality, culture and existential reality of recipients of the Word preached.

    Opis:
    Invoking the pastoral constitution in the contemporary world Gaudium et spes it may be concluded that the Church, proceeding the Christ's work, is obliged to study and interpret the signs of the times in the clear light of the Gospel. It should be done so as to answer the modern men questions and to come up to men’s expectations in the most effective way adapted to theirs mentality. (Vgl. GS 4). (Zur Erfüllung dieses ihres Auftrags obliegt der Kirche allzeit die Pflicht, nach den Zeichen der Zeit zu forschen und sie im Licht des Evangeliums zu deuten). In the creative tension the Church- the World, there is the pastoral work undertaken. It is the organized Church activity, carrying the Christ redemptive work out through preaching the word of God, the Liturgy, ministry and testimoning to the Christian life. There is the need for adaptation to new, constantly changing conditions. Otherwise, even the most effective ways of the Church activity are in danger of ossification and maladjustment to the various modern challenges. The Church is faced with a task to get to know and understand the World, to which it is sent by Christ himself. One of the modern challenges is the demographical situation of Poland, which is the reflection of the European tendencies. The problem mentioned above is crucial not only for politicians, economists and sociologists but also for the ministry. The European and Polish societies are getting older. This phenomenon generates many various social problems which influence the pastoral activity of the Church. The given phenomenon analysis, presented in the following article, requires the research of the consequences that arose due to the demographical situation of Europe and Poland. What is more, it requires the presentation of some possible pastoral care initiatives (concerning families and the elders) as well as conducting charitable activities. Furthermore, the analysis shows the actions, that should be taken into consideration by the Polish Church while preparing pastoral programmes.

    W XXI wieku nauczanie papieża Franciszka, a także wcześniej Jana Pawła II i Benedykta XVI, ukazując rolę i miejsce osób starszych w społeczeństwie, przywraca im szacunek. Papież chce, by osoby w podeszłym wieku były szanowane i z właściwą uwagą otoczone troską. Udowadnia on, że ludzie starsi są nie tylko beneficjentami, lecz także dawcami. Dlatego seniorzy stanowią cenne oparcie dla młodszych pokoleń, ponieważ niosą mądrość i doświadczenie życiowe, historię rodziny i narodu, a także są świadkami wiary. Według papieża, w przeszłości szacunek wobec osób starszych był pewnego rodzaju czynnikiem warunkującym humanizm. Niewątpliwie tak również powinno być i teraz, aby pozytywnie świadczyć o jakości cywilizacji XXI wieku. Toteż starsi ludzie nie mogą być lekceważeni i odrzucani.
    In the twenty-first century, the teaching of Pope Francis, and earlier John Paul II and Benedict XVI, by showing the role and place of the elderly in society, restores respect for them. The Pope wants the elderly to be respected and cared for with proper attention. It proves that the elderly are not only beneficiaries but also donors. Therefore, seniors are a valuable support for younger generations, because they bring wisdom and life experience, family and nation history, and are also witnesses of faith. According to the Pope, in the past, respect for the elderly was some kind of determinant of humanism. Undoubtedly, this should also be the case now, in order to positively testify to the quality of the 21st century civilization. Thus, the elderly cannot be neglected and rejected.

    Homoseksualizm jest problemem, który dotyka − według różnych danych − ok. 3-4% ludności. W ostatnich latach problem osób homoseksualnych stał się bardzo medialny, a osoby o takich tendencjach domagają się przyznania im różnych praw, m.in. zrównania związków homoseksualnych z małżeństwami heteroseksualnymi czy adopcji dzieci. Biorąc pod uwagę aktualność problemu, na podstawie analizy dokumentów Kościoła katolickiego pragniemy wykazać nieadekwatność takich dążeń. Punktem wyjścia jest przywołanie pierwotnego zamysłu Boga wobec człowieka stworzonego mężczyzną i niewiastą oraz powołania ich do małżeństwa, którego celem jest zrodzenie i wychowanie potomstwa. Jest to również podstawa ukazania godności każdej osoby ludzkiej, w tym także osób o tendencjach homoseksualnych. Z kolei przedstawiona jest kwestia homoseksualizmu i zła moralnego czynów homoseksualnych. Ukazanie, że złe są czyny a nie sama tendencja homoseksualna. W dalszej części przedstawiona jest niemożliwość prawnego uznania i zrównania związków homoseksualnych z małżeństwem heteroseksualnym, między innymi ze względu na zasadę dobra wspólnego społeczeństwa.
    Homosexuality is a problem that affects approximately 3-4% of the population, according to various data. In recent years, the problem of homosexual people has become very media-oriented, and people with such tendencies demand that they be granted various rights, including equating homosexual relationships with heterosexual marriages or adopting children. Taking into account the topicality of the problem on the basis of the analysis of the documents of the Catholic Church, we would like to show the inadequacy of such aspirations.The starting point is to recall the original plan of God for man created male and female and to call them to marriage, the purpose of which is to give birth and raise children. It is also the basis for showing the dignity of every human person independently, including people with homosexual tendencies. On the other hand, the issue of homosexuality and moral evil of homosexual acts is presented. Demonstrating that actions are wrong and not the homosexual tendency itself. The next part presents the impossibility of legally recognizing and equating homosexual relationships with heterosexual marriage e.g. due to the principle of the common good of society.

    Opis:
    The Church points to the fact that disabled people have the right to get married and start a family. This right results from those people’s personal dignity that has been given to them by God – the Creator. The possibility to start marital-familial communities by the disabled is a challenge for pastorate, as disability of the spouse negatively influences the realization of all the functions of the family. The basic role in the pastorate of the families of disabled people is played by the parish. Parish pastors should meet the spiritual and material needs of the disabled and their families. Their work should be permanent and systematic. Pastorate realized on the higher level, especially on the level of the diocese, has a great significance. It complements parish pastorate, meeting the spiritual, psychological, rehabilitation and social needs of the disabled and their families. A similar role is played by associations and foundations that are guided in their work by the Church’s social teaching.
