    In this research work we investigate which factors influence the probability of leaving the unemployment state among people registered in the District Labor Office in S lupsk. The multiepisode hazard models with time-varying variables are suitable tools for this analysis. We introduced the changing labor market structure into the risk model. The main results achieved show that the job finding process depends on the historical time of the entry into the unemployment state and the actual historical time. Also, the specific individual characteristics of people unemployed, such as gender, age, marital status, place of residence, education level, influence the probability of exiting the unemployment state. There is a greater tendency to leave the unemployment state when the person doesn’t receive the unemployment benefit. The participation in the vocational training doesn’t increase the transition rate into employment.

    Opis:
    A mathematical model for control by transient modes of gas flows in the long-distance gas pipeline is considered in the paper. The long-distance pipeline is considered in the model as the system of Line segments serially connected via compressor stations. Gas motion in such system is described by the non-linear system of equations of gas dynamics. In the frame of this model the integral parameters which determine the expenditure of energy and durations of the transient mode are introduced. These parameters can be used for formulation the problems for optimal control steady-state and transient modes of operation of main-gas pipelines.

    W pracy przeprowadzono analizę stóp wyjścia ze stanu bezrobocia, uwzględniającą zróżnicowanie płciowe. Proces opuszczania stanu bezrobocia badano dla obu płci osobno wykorzystując narzędzia z zakresu analizy czasu trwania – parametryczne modele hazardu. Głównym celem było dokonanie rozkładu nierówności między kobietami i mężczyznami podczas opuszczania bezrobocia. Zastosowana zmodyfikowana mikroekonometryczna technika dekompozycji Oaxaca-Blindera pozwoliła na wyodrębnienie czynników wyjaśniających zaobserwowane nierówności.
    In the paper, we analyse the exit rates from unemployment, taking into account gender differences. The process of leaving the unemployment state was examined for each sex separately using the tools of duration analysis - the parametric hazard models. The main objective was to perform a decomposition of inequalities between men and women when leaving unemployment. Applied the modified Oaxaca-Blinder microeconometric decomposition technique allowed us to isolate the factors explaining the observed inequalities.

    The behaviour of women and men in the labour market is diverse. Traditionally, men have closer attachment to the labour market. Women, however, have more family responsibilities. In the paper, we analyse the exit rates from unemployment for each sex separately, and find out that the effects of the explanatory variables in estimated duration models depend upon gender. We begin our study with a single risk hazard model. These estimations are extended to a competing risks model with two destinations: employment and non-participation.

    The main goal of this paper is to gain insights into the dependence structure between the duration and trading volume of selected stocks listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. We demonstrate the usefulness of the copula function to describe the dependence of specific unevenly spaced time series. The properties of the time series of price durations and trading volumes under study are in line with common observations from other empirical studies. We observe clustering, overdispersion, and diurnality. For most of the stocks, the seminal model (linear parametrization with exponential or Weibull distribution) can be replaced by a logarithmic specification with more-flexible conditional distributions. The price duration and trading volume associated with this duration exhibit dependence in the tails of distribution. We may conclude that high cumulative trading volumes are associated with long duration. However, changes of price over short times are related to low cumulative volume.

    Celem przeprowadzonych badań była budowa modelu trwania firm dla poszczególnych powiatów województwa zachodniopomorskiego. Pierwszym etapem było oszacowanie estymatora Kaplana‑Meiera oraz zastosowanie testu weryfikującego podobieństwo funkcji przeżycia dla powiatów. Utworzono grupy powiatów. Następny etap badań to budowa tablic trwania firm i analiza funkcji intensywności likwidacji firm w grupach powiatów. Następnie przedstawiono odsetek firm zlikwidowanych po dwóch latach działalności w poszczególnych powiatach (etap III). Przeprowadzono także analizę współzależności między odsetkiem zlikwidowanych w badanym okresie firm i liczbą zarejestrowanych podmiotów na 10 tys. ludności w powiatach (IV etap). W badaniu wykorzystano dane z rejestru REGON, dotyczące firm powstałych w województwie zachodniopomorskim w latach 2009–2011 (21 powiatów). Obserwacja trwała do końca 2013 roku. Wyniki badań pozwoliły wskazać na zróżnicowanie modeli trwania firm w powiatach województwa zachodniopomorskiego. Utworzono pięć grup powiatów i scharakteryzowano je.
    The aim of the study was to construct models of firms’ survival duration for individual poviats in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The first stage was the calculation of the Kaplan‑Meier estimator and the use of a test for the verification of similarities in the survival function for the analysed poviats. As a result, groups of poviats were created. The next stage of research was the construction of duration tables of the studied firms and an analysis of the intensity function of firms’ liquidation for the poviats. The percentage of firms liquidated after two years of activity in different poviats (stage III) was presented. An analysis of correlation between the percentage of firms liquidated in the analysed period and the number of entities registered per 10 thousand of population in the poviats (stage IV) was also conducted. This study used data from the registry of REGON related to companies established in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship in 2009–2011. These entities were observed till the end of 2013. The study results reveal the differentiation of firm survival models in the poviats of the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. Five groups of poviats were distinguished and characterised.

    The main goal of this paper is to compare the microstructure of selected stocks listed on the Frankfurt and Warsaw Stock Exchanges. We focus on the properties of duration on both markets and on fitting the appropriate ACD models. Because of the quite different levels of capitalization of stocks on these markets, we observe essential discrepancies between these stocks. While for most German companies on the DAX30, the Burr distribution fits better than generalized gamma distribution, the latter distribution is superior in the case of the largest Polish companies. Analyzing series by hazard function, we note the similarity of hazard functions for companies on both markets, which tend to have a U-shaped pattern.

    Artykuł przedstawia odpowiedź na pytanie, czy współczesne zróżnicowanie postaw wobec edukacji odzwierciedla podziały zaborowe. Odwołując się do teorii długiego trwania instytucji Douglasa Northa, teorii zmian w systemach edukacyjnych Margaret Archer oraz teorii postaw Alberto Simpsera, przedstawione są argumenty łączące dzisiejsze postawy wobec edukacji ze sposobem wprowadzania instytucji nowoczesnego państwa w XIX wieku. W artykule przeanalizowano obecne postawy wobec edukacji na obszarze dawnej Galicji, porównano je z wynikami z Prus i zaboru rosyjskiego. Na podstawie badań oraz dostępnej literatury można stwierdzić wpływ wzoru wdrażania elementów państwowości na modele mentalne mieszkańców społeczności lokalnej. Przeanalizowano sposób budowania instytucji, oparty na poszanowaniu społeczności lokalnej, angażujący nauczycieli w działalność społeczną, który przekłada się na satysfakcję z działania instytucji, a także katalizuje zaufanie między mieszkańcami danego regionu. Analiza opiera się na badaniach ilościowych i jakościowych przeprowadzonych w trzech miastach znajdujących się na terenach dawnych zaborów oraz na reprezentatywnym badaniu rodziców uczniów.
    The provides presents the answer to the question whether contemporary diversity of attitudes towards education reflects divisions from XIX century. Referring to North’s theory of the long duration of institution, Archer’s theory of changes in the educational systems of and Simpser’s theory of attitudes, it is agrned that today’s attitudes towards education and the pattern of introducing institutions of modern state in the nineteenth century are linked. The article analyses current attitudes towards education in former Galicia, comparing them with those in the area of former Prussia and Russia. The model of implementation of state elements is found to have impact on the mental models of inhabitants of the local community. The patterns of institutions building, based on respect for the local community, engaging teachers in social activities that generates satisfaction with the functioning of institutions as well as trust between the inhabitants of the region, are analyzed. The analysis is based on quantitative and qualitative research.
