Opis:
The classical level function construction of Halperin and Lorentz is extended to Lebesgue spaces with general measures. The construction is also carried farther. In particular, the level function is considered as a monotone map on its natural domain, a superspace of $L^p$. These domains are shown to be Banach spaces which, although closely tied to $L^p$ spaces, are not reflexive. A related construction is given which characterizes their dual spaces.

In the S-category ${\got P}$ (with compact-open strong shape mappings, cf. §1, instead of continuous mappings, and arbitrary finite-dimensional separable metrizable spaces instead of finite polyhedra) there exists according to [1], [2] an S-duality. The S-dual $DX, X = (X,n) ∈ {\got P}$, turns out to be of the same weak homotopy type as an appropriately defined functional dual $\overline{(S^0)^X}$ (Corollary 4.9). Sometimes the functional object $\overline{X^Y}$ is of the same weak homotopy type as the "real" function space $X^Y$ (§5).

In the paper possible treatments of the domain integrals appearing in BEM are discussed. W artykule omówiono sposoby całek po całym obszarze występujących w metodzie elementów brzegowych. Podstawowe algorytmy obliczeniowe zostały krytycznie porównane ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem metod wykorzystujących zasady wzajemności: podwójną oraz wielokrotną. Zaprezentowano również trendy w tych technikach obliczeniowych, a w szczególności nowe funkcje interpolujące oraz metodę dekompozycji obszaru.

Sufficient conditions are given for the global Pareto solution of the multicriterial optimization problem to be in a given convex subset of the domain. In the case of maximizing real valued-functions, the conditions are sufficient and necessary without any convexity type assumptions imposed on the function. In the case of linearly scalarized vector-valued functions the conditions are sufficient and necessary provided that both the function is concave and the scalarization is increasing with respect to the cone generating the preference relation.

Using the Fenchel conjugate $F^c$ of Phú's Volume function F of a given essentially bounded measurable function f defined on the bounded box D ⊂ Rⁿ, the integral method of Chew and Zheng for global optimization is modified to a superlinearly convergent method with respect to the level sequence. Numerical results are given for low dimensional functions with a strict global essential supremum.

We study dual integral equations associated with Hankel transforms, that is, dual integral equations of Titchmarsh's type. We reformulate these equations giving a better description in terms of continuous operators on $L^p$ spaces, and we solve them in these spaces. The solution is given both as an operator described in terms of integrals and as a series $∑_{n=0}^{∞} c_n J_{μ+2n+1}$ which converges in the $L^p$-norm and almost everywhere, where $J_ν$ denotes the Bessel function of order ν. Finally, we study the uniqueness of the solution.

We show that the strong dual X' to an infinite-dimensional nuclear (LF)-space is homeomorphic to one of the spaces: $ℝ^ω$, $ℝ^∞$, $Q×ℝ^∞$, $ℝ^ω×ℝ^∞$, or $(ℝ^∞)^ω$, where $ℝ^∞ = lim ℝ^n$ and $Q=[-1,1]^ω$. In particular, the Schwartz space D' of distributions is homeomorphic to $(ℝ^∞)^ω$. As a by-product of the proof we deduce that each infinite-dimensional locally convex space which is a direct limit of metrizable compacta is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$. In particular, the strong dual to any metrizable infinite-dimensional Montel space is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$.

In this paper we develop the first and second order dual sufficient optimality conditions for a nonlinear optimal control problem. Our conditions are derived from the dual Hamilton-Jacobi approach applied to the generalized problem of Bolza. We do not require neither any convexity on the data, nor that the control set U be polyhedral, nor that the control function be in the interior of U. Instead, we assume the existence of a function which satisfies a certain inequality.

It is well known that every congruence regular variety is n-permutable (in the sense of [9]) for some n ≥ 2. For the explicit proof see e.g. [2]. The connections between this n and Mal'cev type characterizations of congruence regularity were studied by G.D. Barbour and J.G. Raftery [1]. The concept of local congruence regularity was introduced in [3]. A common generalization of congruence regularity and local congruence regularity was given in [6] under the name "dual congruence regularity with respect to a unary term g". The natural problem arises what modification of n-permutability is satisfied by dually congruence regular varieties. The aim of this paper is to find out such a modification, to characterize varieties satisfying it by a Mal'cev type condition and to show connections with normally presented varieties (see e.g. [5], [8], [11]). The latter concept was introduced already by J. P≥onka under a different term; the names "normal identity" and "normal variety" were firstly used by E. Graczyńska in [8].

Jednym z ważniejszych twierdzeń odnoszących się do pęków stożkowych jest twierdzenia Weyera lub zwane inaczej uogólnione drugie twierdzenie Disagrees'a. Twierdzenie to może być wyrażone w następujący sposób: Jeśli pęk stożkowych P ²k(ABCD) o czterech głównych punktach A, B, C i D, które tworzą pełny czworokąt jest przecięty stożkową przechodzącą przez dwa z czterech danych punktów głównych, wtedy krzywe stożkowe pęku P ²k przecinają się ze stożkową k ² i jednocześnie powstaje inwolucyjny szereg punktów drugiego stopnia k'. W pęku P ²k(ABCD) występują trzy zdegenerowane krzywe stożkowe, a mianowicie pary przeciwległych boków zupełnego czworokąta ABCD. Artykuł przedstawia pewne zagadnienia związane z twierdzeniem Weyefa. Twierdzenie dwoiste zostało przedstawione i udowodnione.
One of the important theorems concerning a bundle of conics is the one recognized as Weyer‘s theorem, or a generalized second Disagrees‘ theorem. The theorem may be expressed as follows: If a bundle of conics P ² k(ABCD) with four base points A, B, C and D, which forms a complete quadrangle is intersected with a conic k ² passing through two out of four of given base points, then the conical curves of a bundle P ² k intersect with conic k ² , while an involu-tory chain of points of the second order k ² is created. In a bundle P2k(ABCD) three degenerated conical curves exist, námely the pairs of the opposite sides of a complete quadrangle ABCD. Certain problems related to Weyer‘s theorem are discussed in the páper. A dual to the Weyer‘s theorem is formulated and proved.

A visual-visual dual computer task was designed to test the effect of the thermal environment on dual task performance. The temperatures selected for testing were 20 and 35 °C Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT). 34 volunteers were randomly assigned to 1 of the 2 temperature conditions. Individual differences in single task performance were controlled by equating the baselines of single task performance. Once individual differences in single task capacity were con-trolled, statistically significant differences in performance were demonstrated. Mean Accuracy was computed over a 1-hr testing period in each temperature condition. Participants’ mean accuracy in the 35° condition (38.18%) was substantially lower than in the 20° condition (50.88%).

A protein kinase of 57 kDa, able to phosphorylate tyrosine in synthetic substrates pol(Glu4,Tyr1) and a fragment of Src tyrosine kinase, was isolated and partly purified from maize seedlings (Zea mays). The protein kinase was able to phosphorylate exogenous proteins: enolase, caseins, histones and myelin basic protein. Amino acid analysis of phosphorylated casein and enolase, as well as of phosphorylated endogenous proteins, showed that both Tyr and Ser residues were phosphorylated. Phosphotyrosine was also immunodetected in the 57 kDa protein fraction. In the protein fraction there are present 57 kDa protein kinase and enolase. This co-purification suggests that enolase can be an endogenous substrate of the kinase. The two proteins could be resolved by two-dimensional electrophoresis. Specific inhibitors of typical protein-tyrosine kinases had essentially no effect on the activity of the maize enzyme. Staurosporine, a nonspecific inhibitor of protein kinases, effectively inhibited the 57 kDa protein kinase. Also, poly L-lysine and heparin inhibited tyrosine phosphorylation by 57 kDa maize protein kinase. The substrate and inhibitor specificities of the 57 kDa maize protein kinase phosphorylating tyrosine indicate that it is a novel plant dual-specificity protein kinase.
