Opis:
The majority of advertisements published in Warsaw newspapers and magazines in the years 1729-1773, which presented book publishing offers of the Jesuits and the Piarists, referred to religious books. There are mostly sermons, prayers and meditations. The advertisements, both long and short, always inform the reader about the subject of a given book (also the ones which include only a book’s title). Additionally, they give the name of the author or the translator, a publishing house and some information on where a book can be purchased. They are an excellent source of information regarding the need for religious literature. Frequently, they are the only evidence of books which have not survived until today. The also inform about the way in which books were published at that time, e.g. font or paper type.

Opis:
The printing industry is reentering its flourishing years. Many entrepreneurs make use of various grants, among which are funds from the European Union. Companies are investing in new technologies, employee training, production line upgrades and more. Management system enhancements in the areas of health and safety management, environment management, or the quality management can also be observed. Reasons for this may be many, but a desire for increasing organization work efficiency, legal and standard compliance, as well as production optimization are seen to be paramount reasons. The article presents the most commonly implemented management systems along with their short descriptions.

Opis:
The author is describing the subject of esthetics in historic book printing in Warsaw printing hauses from 15th up to mid 20th century. He starts a polemics against a well grounded assumption among book historians that Warsaw printers in their origins (up to the end of 18th century) created products of inferior quality, when the material book form is considered. A number of examples are shown to present the craftsmanship of printers in the given period. The paper describes also the conjunction between visual form of book printed in Warsaw and the styles and tendencies in contemporary European typography and graphic arts. International trade liaisons, including close cooperation, employing foreign specialists like designers, printers and publishers, as well as quick reactions for the technology advances and implementing the novelties in Warsaw printing houses are mentioned.

The paper presents activities of the printing house founded in 1787 at the Jesuit College in Polotsk. The printing house became an academic printing house in 1812; it ceased to exist at the time of the dissolution of the Academy. The group of the most important printing house personnel, including the managing prefects and the employees directly associated with books – from the censors and the coadjutors to the printing house boys, is listed. Based on the existing inventory lists, their workshop, i.e. the printing equipment housed in all the printing house rooms, can be presented in detail, and their printing achievements, i.e. editions of the books stored in the warehouses and the academic bookshop, can be indicated.

W sektorze poligraficznym funkcjonuje w Polsce około 8,8 tys. podmiotów zatrudniających ponad 49 tys. pracowników. Z badań przeprowadzonych przez GUS w 2013 r. na grupie 30655 pracowników wynika,że u 7625 (około25%) wystąpiły zagrożenia podczas pracy Ponad 15% z nich zatrudnionych było w warunkach zagrożenia. Zagrożenia te związane były ze środowiskiem pracy, uciążliwością pracy oraz czynnikami mechanicznymi. Artykuł ma na celu ocenę szkodliwości warunków pracy w drukarniach pod kątem rodzajów wypadków i ich częstotliwości w ciągu ostatnich lat. Analiza wykazała, że mimo szerokiego spektrum zagrożeń, jakie towarzyszą pracownikom branży poligraficznej, wypadki odnotowane w drukarniach miały z reguły charakter lekki i objęły niewielką grupę pracowników. W artykule dokonano również oceny ryzyka zawodowego zgodnie z PN-M-18002:2011.
There are about 8800 entities with over 49000 workers m the printing industry in Poland. A survey (GUS, 2013) on 30655 workers showed that 7625 (about 25%) of them had experienced hazardous situations at work. Over 15% of hem worked hazardous conditions related to the working environment strenuous work; and mechanical factors. This paper evaluates occupational hazards in printing houses focusing on the kind and frequency of accidents in the past few years. The analysis showed that despite the wide range of risks in the printing industry, accidents were generally light and they affected a relatively small group of workers. This paper also assesses risk in accordance with standard PN- N-18002:2011.

The article focuses on the religious publications that were issued in Lvov in 1773-1800 by the printing press of the Lvov province, which belonged to Antoni Piller and later to his successors. Since the Pillers’ printing press was the only one active in the town between the latter half of the 1780s and the end of the 1790s, it accepted, apart from governmental printing orders, other commissions, including church and monastic ones. About thirty five religious texts were released by them. They were mostly prayer books and sermons, but also textbooks and religious education books, teaching guides for catechists, excerpts facilitating the understanding of the Gospel, as well as summaries of important Western European works that had an impact upon understanding the Christian religion and the debate of the existence of God.

W artykule przedstawiono dzieje powstania oraz wstępną analizę, odnalezionego po ponad 200 latach w zbiorach Centralnego Państwowego Archiwum Historycznego Ukrainy we Lwowie, nieznanego do tej pory badaczom Katalogu Biblioteki Pobenońskiej (jest to formalny tytuł tego dokumentu), biblioteki należącej do redemptorystów (benonitów), którzy w latach 1787-1808 prowadzili w Warszawie działalność duszpasterską, oświatową, opiekuńczą i kulturalną. Katalog jest cennym źródłem do badania wszechstronnej działalności Zgromadzenia Najświętszego Odkupiciela. Został spisany w pięciu tomach przez Stanisława Tretera na zlecenie Ministerstwa Spraw Wewnętrznych Księstwa Warszawskiego. We wskazanym powyżej archiwum znajduje się w zespole rodziny Treterów. Poszczególne tomy katalogu zawierają książki łacińskie, polskie, niemieckie, francuskie i włoskie, podzielone według tematyki na teologię, prawo, medycynę, filozofię, historię i filologię. Katalog obejmuje również podręczniki do nauki w szkołach benońskich oraz rękopisy. Artykuł odtwarza historię spisania katalogu przez S. Tretera, późniejsze losy tego źródła i jego znaczenie dla badań nad aktywnością ośrodka benonitów. Rekonstruuje dzieje księgozbioru, liczącego ponad 6000 tomów i rozproszonego po kasacie zgromadzenia. Omawiając zagadnienie gromadzenia książek przez benonitów, przybliża słabo dotychczas poznaną ich działalność wydawniczą. Dokonane ustalenia pozwolą w przyszłości na dokładną analizę zawartości biblioteki pobenońskiej, zbadanie kultury umysłowej benonitów oraz uzupełnienie wiedzy o bibliotekach i drukarniach warszawskich przełomu XVIII i XIX wieku.
The article presents the history of the creation and preliminary analysis of the, hitherto unknown to researchers, catalogue of the Benonite Library (this is the formal title of the document), a library belonging to the Redemptorists (Benonites), who carried out pastoral, educational, welfare and cultural activities in Warsaw in 1787–1808, which was found after more than 200 years in the collection of the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv. The catalogue is a valuable source for studying the comprehensive activities of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. It was written down in five volumes by Stanisław Treter, as commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior of the Duchy of Warsaw. The record is kept is in the Treter family fond, in the above-mentioned archive. The individual volumes of the catalogue contain Latin, Polish, German, French and Italian books, divided by subject matter into theology, law, medicine, philosophy, history and philology. The catalogue also includes Benonite school textbooks and manuscripts. The article reconstructs the history of S. Treter’s creation of the catalogue, the subsequent fate of this source and its significance for research into the activities of the Benonite establishment. It reconstructs the history of the book collection, which numbered more than 6,000 volumes and was dispersed after the congregation’s suppression. While discussing the Benonites’ collection of books, the article offers a closer look at their hitherto poorly understood publishing activities. The findings will make it possible in the future to thoroughly analyse the contents of the Benonite library, study the mental culture of the Benonites and supplement the knowledge of Warsaw libraries and printing houses of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Opis:
Cyprian Bazylik was a Renaissance poet, printer in Brest Litovsk, translator, and composer strongly associated with the house of Radziwiłł. He wrote in Polish language. The article discusses two poems from the year 1566, dedicated by Bazylik to the late Mikołaj ‘the Black’ Radziwiłł (January 1566) and the living Mikołaj ‘the Red’ Radziwiłł (June 1566). Both poems are one of the oldest examples of panegyric poetry in Polish language in the Great Duchy of Lithuania and they were not analized before from religious point of viev. They are contained within the editorial framework of two publications, edited by Tomasz Falconius, a Lithuanian adherent of antitrinitarianism, which are editions of parts of the Brest Bible and which were published by Bazylik in the Brest printing house. In both texts, the panegyric content is surprisingly perfunctory, while Bazylik (known as a reformed Evangelical) appears in them as an unambiguous adherent of antitrinitarianism. The poems are an interesting testimony to the situation of the Polish Brethren in Lithuania after the death (in 1565) of the patron of this religious belief, Mikołaj ‘the Black’ Radziwiłł. Unusual tone of the poem dedicated to Radziwiłł the Red – Bazylik asks for help and in the same time submits religious threats – shows the bad situation of Lithuanian antitrinitarians which happened in the period of half a year. But it also shows the high self-dignity of the poet.
Cyprian Bazylik to renesansowy poeta, drukarz w Brześciu Litewskim, tłumacz i muzyk silnie związany z domem Radziwiłłowskim. Tworzył w języku polskim. Artykuł poświęcony jest dwu wierszom z roku 1566, dedykowanych przez Bazylika zmarłemu Mikołajowi Radziwiłłowi Czarnemu i żyjącemu Mikołajowi Radziwiłłowi Rudemu. Są jednymi z najstarszych polskojęzycznych wierszy panegirycznych na Litwie i nie były dotąd analizowane z religijnego punktu widzenia. Oba utwory znajdują się w ramie wydawniczej dwu druków, opracowanych przez Tomasza Falconiusa, litewskiego antytrynitarza, będących edycjami części Biblii brzeskiej i wydanych w oficynie brzeskiej przez Bazylika. Treści panegiryczne są w obu tekstach poetyckich zaskakująco zdawkowe, natomiast ujawnia się w nich Bazylik (znany jako ewangelik reformowany) jako niedwuznaczny zwolennik antytrynitaryzmu. Utwory te są ciekawym świadectwem sytuacji, w jakiej znaleźli się bracia polscy na Litwie po śmierci (1565) protektora tego wyznania Radziwiłła Czarnego. Niezwykły ton wiersza skierowanego do Mikołaja Rudego – zarazem prośby i religijne groźby – świadczy zarówno o złej sytuacji antytrynitarzy litewskich (musiała się ona pogorszyć w ciągu pół roku) jak i o wysokim poczuciu godności własnej poety.
Цыпрыян Базылік – польскамоўны рэнесансавы паэт, берасцейскі друкар, перакладчык і музыкант, цесна звязаны з родам Радзівілаў. У артыкуле разглядаюцца два вершы Базыліка з 1566 года, прысвечаныя Радзівілу Рудаму і памерламу Радзівілу Чорнаму. Гэта адны з першых польскамоўных панегірычных вершаў у Вялікім Княстве Літоўскім, але яны ніколі не аналізаваліся з рэлігійнай перспектывы. Абодва творы ўвайшлі ў прадмоўна-пасляслоўны комплекс двух друкаў, падрыхтаваных літоўскім антытрынітарыям Томашам Фальконіўсам, якія зʼяўляюцца перавыданнямі асобных частак Брэсцкай Бібліі і апублікаваныя Базылікам у брэсцкай друкарні. Панегірычны змест абодвух паэтычных тэкстаў надзвычай лаканічны, затое Базылік (вядомы як кальвініст) раскрываецца ў іх як перакананы прыхільнік антытрынітарызму. Гэтыя творы зʼяўляюцца цікавым сведчаннем сітуацыі, у якой апынуліся „польскія браты” на Літве пасля смерці ў 1565 г. пратэктара гэтага веравызнання Радзівіла Чорнага. Нязвыклая інтанацыя верша, скіраванага да Мікалая Рудага – адначасова просьба і пагроза – сведчыць як пра цяжкую сітуацыю антытрынітарыяў у Літве (мусіла пагоршыцца за поўгода), так і пра абвостранае пачуццё ўласнай годнасці паэта.
