W ramach pracy analizowano warunki rzeczywistej eksploatacji trakcyjnej. Przeprowadzono badania drogowe w celu rejestracji parametrów charakteryzujących warunki eksploatacji silnika o zapłonie iskrowym, spełniającego normę emisji spalin EURO 5, będącego źródłem napędu samochodu miejskiego. Badania te zrealizowano w warunkach rzeczywistego ruchu w strumieniu pojazdów. W trakcie jazdy zarejestrowano prędkość ruchu samochodu, prędkość obrotową silnika oraz stopień obciążenia silnika. Opracowanie danych uzyskanych w ramach zarejestrowanych serii pomiarowych pozwoliło na określenie charakterystyki eksploatacji trakcyjnej silnika przy założeniu równościowych udziałów warunków ruchu miejskiego, pozamiejskiego i autostradowego. Uzyskaną charakterystykę porównano z charakterystyką eksploatacji silnika rozpatrywanego samochodu opracowaną na podstawie badań na hamowni podwoziowej zrealizowanych w teście homologacyjnym NEDC.
Paper presents an analysis of engine operating conditions in real traffic. Parameters used to characterization of engine operating conditions were collected by measurements for a urban type car with spark ignition engine which fulfill EURO 5. Measurements were performed in real traffic situations. Instantaneous vehicle velocity, rotational speed of engine and engine’s torque were recorded during car motion. In the next step the characteristic of engine operating conditions was formulated. It was made with assumption of equally part of urban, rural and highway types of motion. Finally the characteristic was compared with other one obtained on the base of test stand measurementsfor the NEDC driving cycle.

The modern person in an era of information breakthrough faces the problem of choosing and processing information coming to her. Human activities in the systems "driver - vehicle - road - environment" - not an exception. The role and importance of information in all spheres of human activity have increased significantly. The paper aims to find and assess the patterns of information flow impact on the driver performance in the "driver - vehicle - road - environment" system. Electroencephalography (EEG) method using the Neurocom hardware and software complex used to determine the change in the electrical activity of the driver's brain during the processing of input information; electrocardiography method using the hardware and software complex «Cardiosens», used to determine the fatigue level of the driver during research; tabular method of double letter cancelation test, involved in determining the time of distraction from the performance of the driver's core activity in laboratory experiments. Using mathematical modelling methods and methods, mathematical models of EEG and ECG parameters influence on the time of distraction from execution by the driver of the main activity were obtained. Regression models of the influence of the aggregate of the quantitative characteristics of the intensity of fast (beta-rhythm – β and gamma-rhythm – γ ) and slow (delta- rhythm – δ and theta-rhythm –θ) EEG signals are proposed. The regression equations obtained for determining the regularities of the influence of information flow on the results of activity of road users are defined. Set up that the time of the driver's distraction from performing the core activity can reach from 0,94 s to 4,77 s depending on particular conditions. Information flows arising from the location of noticeable advertising in the driver's field of vision when driving a vehicle, distract his attention from 0,23 s to 2,81 s. The practical significance of obtained results is the possibility to use them in coordinating the location of advertising structures and organizing the work of drivers while driving a vehicle.

The article deals with the problems connected with road traffic safety highlighting driver’s ability to notice an untypical obstacle in the light of low beam headlights while driving in the night. Visibility of an unlit object during the night is not only related to its motion but also to the necessity of its being lit to up to the required minimum height. On the basis of a study of a road accident, it was found that the standards accepted in reconstruction of the accident for determination of the light beam height to be used for lighting an obstacle should not be taken for granted. The driver’s surprise at the sight of an unlit obstacle is accompanied with the need to direct the light beam higher, which causes shortening of the distance available for a driver to react in an attempt to avoid hitting into an obstacle. An analysis of this case shows that verification of road accidents involving a crash with an untypical, incompatible obstacle that happen during the night needs to be carried out with attention and care. A simulation program V-SIM4 version and Ratschbacher AutoView database was used for calculation of the possibility to avoid an accident. The results obtained on the basis of the authors own investigations can also be used in information campaigns, education for road safety improvement and development of proper attitudes of the road traffic users.

Introduction. The impact of a driver’s cognitive capability on traffic safety has not been adequately studied. This study examined the relationship between cognitive failures, driving errors and accident data. Method. Professional drivers from Iran (160 males, ages 18–65) participated in this study. The cognitive failures questionnaire (CFQ) and the driver error questionnaire were administered. The participants were also asked other questions about personal driving information. A principal component analysis with varimax rotation was performed to determine the factor structure of the CFQ. Poisson regression models were developed to predict driving errors and accidents from total CFQ scores and the extracted factors. Results. Total CFQ scores were associated with driving error rates, but not with accidents. However, the 2 extracted factors suggested an increased effect on accidents and were strongly associated with driving errors. Discussion. Although the CFQ was not able to predict driving accidents, it could be used to identify drivers susceptible to driving errors. Further development of a driving-oriented cognitive failure scale is recommended to help identify error prone drivers. Such a scale may be beneficial to licensing authorities or for developing driver selection and training procedures for organizations.

Internal combustion engines represent the largest share of motor vehicle propulsion types. Despite the introduction of alternative drives (hybrid and electric), combustion engines will continue to be the main factor in the development of transport. Therefore, work related to their technological development and reduction of their harmful effects on human health and the environment is required. The development of internal combustion engines can be seen in two directions: technological changes resulting in increased efficiency of such engines and the second direction connected with limitation of exhaust gas emission. The present work is included in the second direction of research interests and concerns the analysis of various operating conditions of internal combustion engines. The operating states, both static and dynamic, determine the operational properties of internal combustion engines, such as fuel and energy consumption as well as pollutant emissions. Sofar, such operating conditions have only been mapped on a chassis dynamometer in various homologation tests. The course of the type approval test was known and the conditions of measurement were also known, which made it impossible to introduce a random factor into such tests. Currently, these properties are determined in tests performed in real vehicle operating conditions – RDE (Real Driving Emissions). Such tests are representing real operating conditions of motor vehicles. Limitations for performing tests in real traffic conditions are, apart from formal requirements concerning the duration and distance of individual parts, the dynamic conditions of vehicles determined by the speed and acceleration of the vehicle. The study analyzed the properties of vehicle speed processes and engine operating states in the RDE test, taking into account its individual phases – driving in urban, rural and motorway conditions. Engine operation states are the processes of the engine rotational speed and its relative torque. It was found that the dynamic properties of the vehicle speed process are much more significant than the engine operating states. It was also found that the road emission of pollutants in the RDE test, which is the property of vehicles measured in the test, the motorway phase properties have greatest impact.

The paper describes the method of determination of exhaust emission characteristics from a vehicle engine based on the results obtained in a driving test simulated on an engine dynamometer. These characteristics are the relations between the specific distance emissions and the zero-dimensional characteristics of the process of vehicle velocity: the average velocity value and the average value of the absolute value of the product of vehicle velocity and acceleration. The exhaust emission characteristics are used to simulate the emissions from vehicles operating in different types of traffic conditions. The engine operating states in the engine dynamometer tests were determined by the operating conditions of the vehicle during the test. The authors applied the Monte Carlo method in order to determine the characteristics of different values of the zero-dimensional characteristics of the vehicle velocity process. This enabled the determination of the characteristics based on the test results from a single realization of the process of vehicle velocity. Additionally, the developed method allowed a replacement of the empirical research on the chassis dynamometer with the one performed on the engine dynamometer. The obtained exhaust emission characteristics are in line with the characteristics obtained on the chassis dynamometer in multiple tests.

This study’s objective was to determine the level of safety measures used in mobile robot prepared for teleoperation tasks in long distances and harsh environment. The vehicle under test was six-wheeled Mars rover equipped with robotic arm, designed to compete in URC (University Rover Challenge). The analysis has been subjected to the following: communication system, performance of onboard computer and emergency stop system. Communication system has been tested for message exchange speed under various data transmission protocols. Link between base station and mobile robot has immediate influence on onboard computer performance. Emergency stop is an indispensable part of hardware and software, it was tested in different state of the robot to ensure it robustness. This study demonstrates that for the teleoperation control, the UDP protocol is suitable for communication while at the same time allows to maintain low usage of a computing power at the on-board computer.

Most vehicles are powered by internal combustion engines. Due to the nature of their operation they emit, among others, carbon dioxide which contributes to the greenhouse effect. CO2 production is strictly correlated with fuel consumption. The article presents the results of road tests of a passenger car with a spark-ignition engine meeting the Euro 6 emission norm. The test vehicle was equipped with a classic exhaust gas aftertreatment system – a three-way catalytic converter. The aim of the study was to verify the impact of the cruise control use on the vehicle fuel consumption. The measurements were based on Portable Emission Measurement System type mobile equipment for exhaust emission tests. The tests were carried out in real driving conditions travelling on an express way. Test drives took place on a route with variable topographic profile. Three test drives with different speeds were carried out, but the aim was to obtain an average speed of 130 km/h.

In Poland, the number of vehicles owned per capita is systematically increasing. There is also a noticeable increase in traffic in large urban agglomerations. This creates a number of problems, such as difficulties in finding a parking spot. Then it becomes necessary to search for a long time to stop, which is correlated with higher emission of harmful substances and energy consumption. The aim of the work is a multi-criteria analysis of the selection of a parking spot at a shopping center focused on travel times, pollutant emissions and fuel consumption. In addition, consideration was given to the selection of the optimal parking spot. The tests were carried out in Real Driving Conditions similar to Real Driving Emissions testing. The procedure, currently used as an extension of the type-approval tests, reflects the actual exhaust emissions from vehicles more accurately than tests under laboratory conditions. Specialized PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System) apparatus was used for the measurements.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki pomiarów toksyczności spalin samochodu dostawczego w rzeczywistych warunkach ruchu. Celem badań było zweryfikowanie wpływu stylu jazdy kierowcy na emisję substancji szkodliwych w spalinach. Do realizacji celu wykonano pomiary emisji drogowej podstawowych gazowych związków toksycznych w spalinach emitowanych do atmosfery przez jednostkę napędową pojazdu. Do pomiarów zawartości poszczególnych zanieczyszczeń gazowych wykorzystano mobilną aparaturę do badań toksyczności spalin typu PEMS.
The article presents the results of measurements of exhaust emissions of commercial vehicle in real traffic conditions. The aim of this study was to determine how the driving style effects on the exhaust emissions from vehicle engine. The determinants were the measurements of the concentration of main toxic substances emitted to the atmosphere from the power unit of the tested vehicle. In the measurements a portable exhaust emission analyzer was used (PEMS type).

W pracy przedstawiono nowoczesne konstrukcje układów biegowych pojazdów tramwajowych na przykładzie konstrukcji wózków tramwaju typu 118N produkcji krajowej. Przedstawiono wykaz eksploatowanych pojazdów tramwajowych w wybranych miastach Polski. Zaprezentowano główne parametry tramwaju typu 118N oraz porównano je z parametrami tramwajów produkcji zagranicznej. Ponadto omówiono konstrukcję układów biegowych pojazdu tramwajowego typu 118N z podziałem na wózek napędny i toczny oraz porównano kilka cech konstrukcyjnych wózka w odniesieniu do wybranych parametrów.
New construction of the running systems of tram vehicles, on the example of the construction of the bogies of a tram of type 118N of the domestic production, are presented in this work. The list of the operated tram vehicles in the selected cities of Poland is presented. The main constructional characteristics of the tram of type 118N are presented, and comparisons with the parameters of the trams of foreign production are made. Moreover, the construction of the running systems of the tram vehicle of type 118N with the division on the driving bogie and the rolling bogie is discussed. The comparisons of the few constructional characteristics of the bogie with regard to the selected parameters are made.

Omówiono efekty wykonanych modyfikacji algorytmów sterowania zaimplementowanych w oprogramowaniu komercyjnych układów falownikowych odpowiadających za pracę napędów jazdy podawarki. Celem modyfikacji było usprawnienie pracy napędów pod kątem specjalistycznych zadań zwałowarki, a przede wszystkim ograniczenie drgań podczas rozruchu napędów oraz zapewnienie wysokiego poziomu niezawodności eksploatacyjnej zastosowanych rozwiązań.
Paper presents the results of laboratory and industrial testing of the caterpillar drives of the loading feeder of the spreader ZGOT-15400.120 working in the strip pit Szczerców of the KWB "Bełchatów" Mine. The electromagnetic and electromechanical transient states in the drive systems have been analysed. A new conception of sensorless steering algorithm modification in the CUVC bord controlling of converter has been introdused. After proposed solution the decrease of motors torque oscilations and mechanical vibrations in the low frequencies range of converter work was obtained.

The bulk of the research that seeks to understand driving behavior and decision making has been performed by behavioral psychologists and engineers. These studies have a tendency to focus on the individual driver, examining such topics as road and vehicle design, cognitive skills, and the effects of collisions on the human body. This disparate research has produced a wealth of knowledge but with little unifying theory. The act of driving occurs within social environments that exist at many levels; the same act can be viewed through multiple lenses. In its exploration of the social context, this paper moves from an analysis of the global scale to the regional to the local. Our roads are monitored by police services and illegal acts are punished by judicial systems; these social institutions attempt to modify behavior through punitive measures. These punitive measures are derived from social theories of deviance and deterrence, methods shown here to be flawed. Empirical data derived from observations in Al Ain, UAE, are used in a quasi-experimental design that describes how drivers alter their choice of speed based on their observations of other drivers. This paper concludes by suggesting that, both by examining and legislating for driver behavior, there is a pressing need to situate the driver within his/her social environment.

Wyzwaniem dla współczesnego świata niewątpliwie są problemy ekologiczne. Nasza planeta niszczona jest na wiele sposobów: przez nadmierną eksploatację surowców mineralnych, karczowanie lasów tropikalnych, emisję gazów cieplarnianych do atmosfery oraz przez indywidualne, negatywne zachowania człowieka. Obecnie pojawia się coraz więcej sposobów, które pozwalają chronić Ziemię. Jednym z nich jest wdrożenie ekologicznej i ekonomicznej koncepcji eco-drivingu. Znalazła ona zastosowanie m.in. w przedsiębiorstwach świadczących usługi transportowe, gdzie jej zasady są przekazywane podczas specjalnych szkoleń dla zawodowych kierowców.
Nowadays, one of the world's challenge are ecological problems. Our planet is destroying by many ways f.e. redundant exploitation of natural resources, clearing tropical forests, emission of greenhouse gases and as well as individual and negative human's behaviours. At present there are many different ways, which can be used to protect the earth. One of them is an implementation of economic and ecological concept, which is called "eco-driving". This idea is using among others in enterprises, which are providing transport services. The company's workers are appreciated with principles rules of theory during special training for professional drivers.
