Opis:
The paper presents an analysis of changes in the bathymetry of Mierzyńskie lake, located in western Poland. It was found that over the last five decades this lake was characterized by exceptional stability in terms of changes in the surface area and volume of water, which decreased by 3.4 ha and 315,000 m3 respectively. The observed situation is quite different in comparison to the literature analysing the issue of lake evolution in Poland (indicating a faster rate of their disappearance). This specificity is due to the nature of the use of the catchment of this lake, which is characterised by an exceptionally high percentage of forest areas (considered to be the most natural) and negligible anthropopressure.

Opis:
In this article, the most recent moldavite discoveries in Poland and their host sediments are characterised and discussed. They were discovered at Lasów, located about 8 km north of Zgorzelec (Poland) and Görlitz (Germany), about 700 m from the Polish-German border, close to the Lusatian Neisse (Nysa) River. The tektites were collected from Vistulian (Wiechselian) glacial age sand and gravel of a closed quarry pit, associated with the river terraces. In the Lasów area, the moldavite-bearing sediments are Pleistocene in age and represent Lusatian Neisse terrace deposits. They were redeposited from the upper part of the drainage basin of the Lusatian Neisse, probably washed out from the Miocene sediments that filled the Zittau Depression, the Berzdorf–Radomierzyce Depression, the Višňová Depression and the tectonically uplifted Izera Mts. and Działoszyn Depression. The erosion of Miocene deposit occured on a large scale in the uplifted foothills of the Upper Miocene Izera, Lusatia and Kaczawa complexes. The sediment cover was removed from the Działoszyn Depression. The drainage basin of the Lusatian Neisse is the area where moldavites were formed by the Nördlinger Ries impact. The source area of moldavite is the same for the Miocene deposits around Gozdnica, as well as for the Pleistocene sediments at Lasów.

Opis:
In order to achieve the task of formulating an optimal drainage model for the Calabar area, the Calabar drainage system was studied using some cartographic techniques to analyze its surface run-off and channel characteristics so as to determine how floods are generated. A morphological analysis was done, using detailed contour maps prepared for the study area. The “Blue line” and “contour crenulations” methods were used to recreate the expected run-off channels or drainage networks under natural non-urbanized conditions. A drainage structure with 6 major basins and 73 sub-basins was discovered. Existing storm drains were constructed without regards to this natural structure and so floods were generated.

Opis:
The paper examined water resources insecurity arising from climatic change and variability, coupled with increased population and economic development in in Yewa basin, with a view to understanding the relationship between climatic variables and hydrological parameters operating within the basin. Thus, the study entails assessment of the effects of climate change and variability on water resources and its implication on both the physical environment and the hydrological regime, using the water evaluation and planning (WEAP) system model. Data employed included water supply and demand for Domestic, Commercial, Industrial and Agriculture, as well as climatic data (rainfall and Temperature) and runoff. As revealed by the Scenario fabrication, 45.24% of the annual water requirement within Yewa Basin is not met, with water potentials of Annual mean discharge of 3682.46 m3/s (±830.1) and Annual mean rainfall of 1106.26m (±475.25), and with coefficients of variation of 40.88 and 73.73, respectively. This deficit calls for an appropriate water resources management mechanism to be put into use in Yewa Basin.

Opis:
In this study, it was aimed at determining the seasonal variability in the sediment concentrations observed in an agricultural drainage basin. This research was carried out in an agricultural basin of 9 495 ha, located in the Cukurova region within the borders of Adana province, in Turkey. In order to determine the sediment concentrations, an automatic water sampler was set at the outlet (L4) of the main drainage channel (YD2) that provides drainage of the basin. Drainage water samples with 250 ml volume were taken on a daily time step. Sediment concentration values of the water samples taken were determined in the laboratory by the drying and evaporation method. The sediment concentration series observed in the 2020 hydrological year were directly associated with the sediment data observed simultaneously at the drainage flow observation station located in the Sirkenli village, downstream of the YD2. Daily sediment concentration series in L4 was disaggregated by months and seasons of the hydrologic year 2020 to make a temporal comparison among the data. Temporal analysis showed that the sediment concentration values have been prone to an increase in heavily rainy periods as well as in irrigation season. Additionally, it was determined that the correlation between sediment concentration values and drainage water depths in the main drainage channel was statistically insignificant during the peak irrigation season. The insignificant corre lation between sediment concentration and drainage water depth might be ascribed to the direct by-pass irrigation flows to the drainage system of the agricultural basin.

Opis:
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań osadów dennych z trzech jezior różniących się zagospodarowaniem zlewni, w aspekcie oceny wybranych parametrów fizykochemicznych tych osadów. Stwierdzono m. in., że rodzaj materiału roślinnego, porastającego zlewnię jeziora, w istotny sposób determinuje właściwości osadów.
The results of analysis of bottom sediments from tree lakes differing as for as the use of the drainage basin was concerned were presented. The land of the plant cover of the catchments of a lake significantly influences the sediments properties. The C:N ratio of the analyzed sediments is 12-19 which indicates a rather equal participation of higher plant and lower plant residues in the sediments. The quality of the sediment varies also with its distribution in the lake pan.

Opis:
The river Wieprzówka is an approximately 30 km long, left tributary of the Skawa river in the western part of Lesser Poland. The paper presents critical comments and remarks on the entries in question published in the 12th volume of the series “Hydronymia Europaea” in 1996. Extensive use of contemporary maps, historical sources and some other published and unpublished materials has enabled the author to correct and / or enrich our knowledge of the river names of that area. In particular, many historical names which, according to the authors of the volume, referred to objects that no longer exist or are nameless, now can be unequivocally identified with local rivers and streams. Among the etymological remarks contained in the paper, perhaps the most interesting are those aiming at the reconstruction of a topographic term *krakovъ > *kraków connected with the arboreal flora.
