Opis:
This article discusses conditions of professional social work in public organizations, especially from the perspective of the Nordic countries. We propose that public arenas for social work consist of three domains with different functions and logics, yet interconnected and interdependent. These domains are the domain of politics, the domain of management and administration, and the domain of professional practice. The individual local organizations – made up of these domains with their respective logics – are in turn conditioned by a fourth domain, the domain of institutional conditions. This latter domain contains ideals of control, norms, and views of knowledge and technologies that exist in society, that are legitimized and disseminated by central institutions, and that govern important aspects of how the individual local organizations work. The purpose of this work is to contribute to the development of a domain theory for the organization of social work in the public sector.

Based on the Social Cognitive Domain Theory, the paper explored the adolescents’ conceptions of teacher authority in different domains and their relations to rule violations in school. The main results are: 1) Adolescents viewed moral, conventional, and prudential issues as legitimately subject to teachers’ authority and personal issues as under personal jurisdiction, but they were equivocal about contextually conventional issues. 2) Seventh graders judged all acts as more legitimately subject to teachers’ authority, all rule violations as more negative than did older students. 3) Compared with adolescents from big cities, adolescents from rural area viewed moral, conventional, contextually conventional, and personal issues as more legitimately subject to teacher authority, and endorsed less personal jurisdiction over those issues; but there were no significant differences in moral domain. 4) Male subjects reported more violations in conventional and prudential domain. 5)Adolescents’ older age, less endorsement of legitimacy of teacher authority, and greater dislike for school predicted more teacher- and self-reported misconducts. Implications for moral education from these results were also discussed.

Opis:
We consider a coupled 3D model that involves computation of the stress-strain state for the body with thin inclusion. For the description of the stress-strain state of the main part, the linear elasticity theory is used. The inclusion is modelled using Timoshenko theory for shells. Therefore, the dimension of the problem inside the inclusion is decreased by one. For the numerical solution of this problem we propose an iterative domain decomposition algorithm (Dirichlet-Neumann scheme). This approach allows us to decouple problems in both parts and preserve the structure of the corresponding matrices. We investigate the convergence of the aforementioned algorithm and prove that the problem is well-posed.

Opis:
Modeling of the electromagnetic interaction with different homogeneous or inhomogeneous objects is a fundamental and important problem. It is relatively easy to solve Maxwell equations analytically when the scattering object is spherical or cylindrical, for example. However, when it loses these properties all that is left for us is to use approximation models, to acquire the solution we need. Modeling of complex, non-spherical, asymmetric particles is used to study cosmic, cometary dust, aerosols, atmospheric pollution etc. Few analytical, surface-based and volume-based methods of light scattering modeling, most commonly used by scientists, are reviewed here.

The paper introduced the basic model of process of safe ship control in a collision situation using a game model with j objects, which includes non-linear state equations and non-linear, time varying constraints of the state variables as well as the quality game control index in the forms of the game integral payment and the final payment. Approximated model of the process control as the model of multi-step matrix game in the form of dual linear programming problem has been adopted here. The Game Ship Control GSC computer program has been designed in the Matlab/Simulink software in order to determine the own ship’s safe trajectory. These considerations have been illustrated with examples of a computer simulation using an GSC program for determining the safe ship's trajectory in real navigational situation. Simulation research were passed for five sets of strategies of the own ship and met ships.

Argument z projektu, przeformułowany obecnie przez sympatyków ruchu Inteligentnego Projektu, jest oparty przede wszystkim na przeciwstawieniu rzeczy zaprojektowanych rzeczom niezaprojektowanym. Fakt ten jest jednak kłopotliwy dla chrześcijan. Skoro bowiem twierdzą oni, że Bóg zaprojektował cały Wszechświat, to jak można mówić, że coś nie jest zaprojektowane? W mojej opinii problem ten jest równoważny problemowi wolnej woli, czy też moralnego zła, a jako taki może znaleźć rozwiązanie na gruncie dawnych koncepcji filozoficznych, które dotyczyły tych kwestii – chodzi zwłaszcza o pojęcie różnych poziomów opisu oraz Augustyńską koncepcję różnych poziomów zdolności.
The argument from design, recast today in the Intelligent Design movement, relies critically on the contrast of designed things with undesigned things. This poses a problem for Christians, however, because they affirm that God designed the whole universe. How then can we call anything undesigned? I argue that this problem is equivalent to the problem of free will, or the problem of moral evil, and as such can be addressed by the same philosophical frameworks developed in the past for addressing those issues, in particular the notions of different levels of description and Augustine’s different levels of giftedness.
