    The objective of the present thesis was to verify the credibility of domain name appraisals obtained using generally available web applications in an automated, algorithmic way. The appraisal involved 10 domain names which were put on sale on an online domain names market, using selected, generally available applications for appraisals.
    Celem pracy była weryfikacja wiarygodności wycen domen internetowych, które uzyskano przy pomocy ogólnodostępnych aplikacji internetowych, w sposób zautomatyzowany, algorytmiczny. Wycenie poddano 10 domen internetowych wystawionych na sprzedaż na internetowej giełdzie domen, z wykorzystaniem wybranych, ogólnodostępnych aplikacji wyceniających.

    Cybersquatting is defined as the practice of registering internet domains that include individual designations of an enterprise, for instance its trademark. This action may be considered both as an unfair business practice as well as an infringement of laws protecting the trademarks. Nowadays, as the Internet is getting more and more popular on a massive scale, cybersquatting is posing a threat that becomes bigger and bigger - not only for each and every enterprise, regardless of its size or recognition, but also for people engaged in public activities. Domain piracy can be committed by a legal person as well as a natural one. Most often the motive behind cybersquatters’ actions is the desire to gain money from reselling an attractive domain or blocking off rival entrepreneurs from market access.

    The theme of the research paper and its chapters revolve around the security of the DNSSEC protocol and its impact on online privacy. The study delves into the intricacies of the Domain Name System (DNS), exploring its fundamental workings, hierarchical architecture, and the role of the DNS root server, as well as the entities responsible for hosting the 13 DNS Root servers. The paper also examines various types of DNS attacks, including DNS Spoofing, Man-in-the-Middle attacks, DNS cache poisoning, and DNS hijacking, shedding light on the vulnerabilities within the DNS infrastructure. A significant portion of the research is dedicated to the description of DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions), emphasizing its importance and functionality within DNS zones.     Opis:
    In this article, the author conducts a comparative analysis of international and Ukrainian legislation in the field of regulation of rights and obligations of trademark owners and domain names, protection mechanisms and their legislative consolidation. The imperfection of the legislative enshrinement of the domain name concept, the consequences of the lack of legal regulation by the state of the legal status of persons who have the right of ownership of the domain name, the lack of legal consolidation of mechanisms for acquiring and terminating domain name ownership and the legal consolidation of trademark and domain name. The differences between the current methods of protection of the right to a domain name in Ukraine and at the international level were revealed, and the prescriptions of the rules governing and resolving domain disputes in international and Ukrainian legal practice were compared. Based on the analyzed legislation, rules and scientific materials, ways to improve the legal status of domain name owners in Ukraine are proposed, including the separation of the domain name as a separate object of intellectual property rights, with typical for intellectual property rights guarantees for protection and enforcement on the domain name on the part of the state, development of the uniform mechanism regulated by the state of registration and acquisition of the property rights to the domain name and separation of legal ways and means of protection of the right to the domain name.
    У цій статті автором проводиться порівняльний аналіз міжнародного та українського законодавства у сфері регулювання прав і обов’язків влас- ників торговельних марок та доменних імен, механізмів захисту та за- конодавчого їх закріплення. Висвітлено недосконалість законодавчого закріплення поняття доменного імені, наслідки відсутності правового ре- гулювання з боку держави правового статусу осіб, що мають право влас- ності на доменне ім’я, відсутності юридичного закріплення механізмів набуття та припинення права власності на доменне ім’я та законодавчого закріплення розмежування понять торговельної марки та доменного імені. Було виявлено відмінності актуальних способів захисту права на доменне ім’я в Україні і на міжнародному рівні та порівняно приписи правил, яки- ми регулюються та на підставі яких вирішуються доменні спори в міжна- родній юридичній практиці та українській. На підставі проаналізованого законодавства, правил та наукових матеріалів запропоновано шляхи для вдосконалення правового становища власників доменних імен в Україні, серед яких – виокремлення доменного імені як окремого об’єкта права інтелектуальної власності, з характерними для об’єктів права інтелекту- альної власності гарантій щодо захисту і охорони права на доменне ім’я з боку держави, вироблення єдиного регульованого з боку держави меха- нізму реєстрації і набуття прав власності на доменне ім’я та виокремлення юридичних способів та засобів захисту права на доменне ім’я.

    Settings and participants: analogous semantic extensions in conceptually remote domainsThis article concerns a phenomenon, claimed to be semantic in nature, which can be observed in expressions from conceptually distant categories. The phenomenon in question consists in the modification of lexical categories in which the form of the words is retained, but their meanings undergo essential, yet analogous, shifts. The two domains selected for the purpose of this study are so-called meteorological expressions (e.g., it’s raining, snow fell etc.) and the names of political states (France, Mexico, Vietnam etc.). These domains are mutually independent and constitute unrelated areas of knowledge. What is intriguing, however, is the similarity of the semantic shifts, also known as conversion or zero-derivation, which occur in these categories. The term “semantic extension” has been chosen as a convenient shorthand for the phenomenon in question. The article argues that due to altered profiles imposed on essentially the same base, the semantic extension under investigation results in shifts between the profiles of a “setting”, a “participant” and a “process”. In a comparative perspective between the two domains in question, zero-derived settings and participants alternate on a regular basis. The analysis applied here adopts tools exploited in cognitive grammar (e.g., profile, base). If semantic extensions towards settings and participants can be confirmed in such distant domains, further research can be undertaken in other domains. If related semantic effects are found in more domains, the semantic categories of a setting and a participant should be included in descriptive grammars. Scenerie i uczestnicy: analogiczne rozszerzenia semantyczne w pojęciowo odległych domenachArtykuł dotyczy zjawiska o charakterze semantycznym, pojawiającego się w wyrażeniach z pojęciowo odległych kategorii. Omawiane efekty stanowią modyfikacje kategorii leksykalnych, w których forma pozostaje zachowana, ale ich znaczenia ulegają istotnym, ale też analogicznym zmianom. Dwie domeny wybrane do celów tego badania to tak zwane wyrażenia meteorologiczne (np. pada deszcz, spadł śnieg itp.) oraz nazwy państw (Francja, Meksyk, Wietnam itd.). Domeny te są od siebie niezależne i stanowią niepowiązane ze sobą obszary wiedzy. Intrygujące jest jednak podobieństwo semantycznych zmian, zwanych również konwersją lub derywacją zerową, widoczne w tych wyrażeniach. Termin ‘rozszerzenie semantyczne’ będzie używany jako dogodny skrót dla omawianego zjawiska. Artykuł dowodzi, że ze względu na zmienne profile nakładane na zasadniczo tę samą bazę, badane rozszerzenie semantyczne powoduje przesunięcia między profilami ‘scenerii’, ‘uczestnika’ i ‘procesu’. W perspektywie porównawczej między dwiema domenami, scenerie i uczestnicy regularnie się zmieniają. Zastosowana analiza używa narzędzi wykorzystywanych w gramatyce kognitywnej (np. profil, baza). Jeśli semantyczne rozszerzenia w kierunku scenerii i uczestników zostaną potwierdzone w tak odległych domenach, można podjąć dalsze badania w innych domenach. Jeśli powiązane efekty semantyczne występują w większej liczbie domen, kategorie semantyczne scenerii i uczestnika powinny zostać uwzględnione w gramatykach opisowych.

    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja rozważań na temat firmy jako dobra osobistego. Powyższe zagadnienie jest przedmiotem wielu doktrynalnych sporów, jednak autorka aprobuje stanowisko, że firma jest dobrem osobistym i przysługuje spółkom prawa handlowego. W dalszej kolejności artykuł koncentruje się na problematyce naruszenia prawa do firmy w Internecie. Współcześnie powszechny dostęp do sieci internetowej sprzyja rejestracji domen internetowych naruszających prawa lub interesy innych podmiotów. Powyższy problem jako występujący coraz częściej oraz zagrażający przedsiębiorcom wymaga pogłębionej analizy i dyskusji.
    The aim of this article is to present considerations about the business name as a personal right. This issue is the subject of doctrinal disputes, however, the author approves the thesis that the business name is a personal right and it is entitled to commercial law companies. Subsequently, the article focuses on the issue of violating the right to the business name on the Internet. Nowadays, universal access to the Internet network is conductive to the registration of Internet domains violating the rights or interests of other entities. The above problem as occurring more often and threatening entrepreneurs requires in-depth analysis and discussion.
