In times of financial crisis, heritage can be perceived as a pleasant but unnecessary addition. This opinion is wrong, because heritage plays an extremely important role in the life of the European population. Many respondents in Great Britain consistently say that heritage is important to them, which is proved by large numbers of members of organisations relating to this field: the National Trust and the English Heritage. Heritage gives us the sense of identity and diversity. It is the character determined by the heritage of a given place that makes this place exceptional. Heritage gives the sense of belonging to society and to a given community. It also helps to generate economic benefits, which are additionally supported by income from tourism. Heritage-related tourism can often constitute an important part of local or even national economy. Heritage helps us to gain a better understanding of our own past. Once destroyed, the places representing our heritage will not be restored to posterity. All considerations concerning our approach to the issue of heritage in times of economic crisis must begin with the ensuring of long-term protection and conservation of a given heritage site. A very large number of volunteers is engaged in the care of heritage. The society is ready to respond to potential requests for the financial support of specific initiatives. Non-governmental initiatives play an important role in taking care of heritage. Currently, however, a decrease in the number of available resources can be observed. Public financing in England is decreasing, and other sources of funding are becoming smaller, too. The number of professional monument conservators is decreasing. This may result, for instance, in the readiness to acknowledge economical reasons underlying a given building project, regardless of its impact on the historical environment. It may be more difficult, due to the lower rate of ROI, to implement renovation programmes based on the use of historic heritage. Funds for repair and maintenance are necessary. It is, therefore, necessary to elaborate new strategies, to increase the society’s awareness of the huge importance of heritage, to find a useful manner of the use of historic buildings, to convince the public that this solution can be cheaper and more efficient than the costly construction of new objects and to carry out cheaper temporary repairs and conservation works. It will be necessary to find new funds in order to protect and make use of heritage sites in a way that would ensure their survival.

The article analyses the analytical publications of the editor of the monthly ”Novi Dni” (Toronto) Petro Volyak during the years 1950–1951, with a particular focus on the ideological aspect. It analyses the actual social and political issues of the articles, reviews and a commentary related to the events in the Soviet Union and Canada. It demonstrates how Petro Volyak comprehended literary and artistic problems in relation to the ideological aspect. It is concluded that the publicist used research methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, and generalization. It was found that the ideological aspect in Petro Volyak’s analytical publications was realized with the help of the analysis of social facts and phenomena, press review, historical tours, elements of journalism investigation and forecasting. A signifi cant role of personal experience of the author is emphasized.

W roku 2012 Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM obchodzi 50-lecie istnienia – działa od roku 1962 jako jednostka ogólnouczelniana Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Publikuje przede wszystkim monografie naukowe (w 50 seriach tematycznych), podręczniki, skrypty, słowniki, a także 25 czasopism naukowych (również w językach obcych). Rocznie ukazuje się około 150 tytułów. Za swoje osiągnięcia edytorskie wielokrotnie otrzymywaliśmy nagrody, m.in. na Krajowych Targach Książki Akademickiej ATENA, Wrocławskich Targach Książki Naukowej, Nagrody Klio na Targach Książki Historycznej, nagrody Stowarzyszenia Wydawców Szkół Wyższych im. ks. Edwarda Pudełki za najlepszy podręcznik akademicki oraz dyplomy i wyróżnienia w kolejnych edycjach Poznańskiego Przeglądu Nowości Wydawniczych, organizowanego przez Bibliotekę Raczyńskich. Nasze książki prezentowane były na międzynarodowych wystawach polskiej książki naukowej organizowanych przez Stowarzyszenie Wydawców Szkół Wyższych w: Paryżu, Londynie, Lwowie, Rzymie, Sztokholmie, Wilnie, Pradze, Kijowie, Petersburgu, Dniepropietrowsku, Watykanie, Wiedniu, Madrycie, a także na międzynarodowych targach książki we Frankfurcie, Londynie, Moskwie, Zagrzebiu, Győr (Węgry) i Pekinie. Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM jest pomysłodawcą i głównym organizatorem Poznańskich Dni Książki Naukowej, odbywających się nieprzerwanie od 1997 roku i gromadzących wydawców z całej Polski. Miejscem corocznych targów książki jest Hol Wielki Collegium Maius. Established in 1962, Adam Mickiewicz University Press is a department of one of the major universities in Poland. It is one of the oldest university presses in Poland being at the Adam Mickiewicz University which is one of the major universities in Poland. The University Press, which celebrates its fifty years in 2012, has been publishing scientific books such as monographs, collected works, series of books on a variety of subjects, a number of scientific journals and the like. Its annual output is about 130 books on the average. Adam Mickiewicz University Press cooperates with a number of publishing houses at home and abroad. Over its 50 years’ existence it has cooperated with such distinguished publishers as Cambridge University Press, John Benjamins, Eburon (the Netherlands), Mouton, and Elsevier. to mention a few. It has exchanged, bought and sold permissions for publication and translation of many scientific books and papers. Some permissions are given and obtained free of charge. Apart from authors coming from our University, we have also published scientific works by authors from other universities in Poznań and Poland as well as from other countries. Many Polish and foreign authors outside of the University have decided to publish their works at our University Press due to its excellent editorial work and artwork. Thus, Adam Mickiewicz University Press has exhibited its books at home and abroad – cities where and has received a number of awards and prizes for the quality of its publications.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów meteorologicznych prowadzonych w sierpniu 2007 roku na Uralu Polarnym. Głównym celem badań było określenie zróżnicowania temperatury powietrza w zależ-ności od zaobserwowanych typów pogody. Przeanalizowano przebieg dobowy temperatury powietrza na wyso-kości 150 cm n.p.g. w dnach dwóch cyrków glacjalnych (zlodowaconym i niezlodowaconym), położonych na zbliżonej wysokości n.p.m. Stwierdzono, że największe wahania temperatury w cyrku zlodowaconym (Lodowiec Obruczewa) wystąpiły podczas dni z umiarkowanym zachmurzeniem i intensywnym napływem ciepłych mas powietrza z południo-zachodu. Z kolei w cyrku niezlodowaconym największe wahania temperatury pojawiły się podczas dni pogodnych..
The main aim of the following paper is to compare the course of daily air temperature in two different Polar Urals glacier cirques. One of them represents non-glaciated environment with buried ice under moraine and the second one, has still sufficient conditions to maintain the ice glacier (fig. 2). The analyses were based on fieldwork carried out in the central part of Polar Ural from 1 to 20 August 2007. The Hobo Pro Series micro data loggers were employed for this purpose. The measu-rements were set up in the standard time (UTC+5) and with 5 minute interval. The measurements of temperature were carried out on 150 cm a.g.l. On the basis of such measurements the course of daily air temperature was estimated for: clear (cloudiness <20%, 8 days), overcast (>80%, 6 days) and average cloudy (20-80%, 6 days) days. Furthermore, the synoptic maps of Polar Urals were employed in the following analysis. During whole period the anticyclonic situations with the center of high-pressure or high-pressure wedge were more frequent than cyclonic situation. In addition, the air mass flow from north and north-west were in the superiority. During entire season the average air temperature in non-glaciated cirque were higher than the value registered in the glacier cirque (fig. 4). It was concluded that averaged for clear (cloudiness <20%, 8 days), overcast (>80%, 6 days) and cloudy (20-80%, 6 days) days, course of daily air temperature was characterized by the highest amplitude during clear days. It was 5.2°C for Obruchev glacier and 6.1°C for non-glaciated cirque. The lowest values of air temperature during the days mentioned above were between six and seven o’clock (UTC+5) and figure out respectively: 3.9°C in the cirque glacier and 7.2°C in non-glaciated cirque (fig. 5). Subsequently, it was concluded that during the overcast days the course of daily air temperature was weakly expressed. The differences between measurement points figure out maximum 1.9°C. Furthermore, during the average cloudy days the air temperature was higher of about 3.3°C in the non-glaciated cirque than in Obruchev glacier. The biggest differences between the cirques under consideration appeared between 18-19 o’clock and figure out maximum 5.0°C (fig. 6).

The article is an attempt to summarise the analyses and conclusions based on empirical studies conducted among the youth congregated in the meeting in Krakow. The emerging view from the research is that young people’s attitude towards faith or expectations of the Church constitute reasons for creating a view of the youth who are recipients of priestly activity. At the outset, the author brings closer the methodology of already made sociological studies followed by the analysis of the results. The author draws attention to the issues such as the religiousness of the youth and its acceptance of the Church, religious socialization; motifs, expectations and benefits of WYD, the assessment of WYD, the motivation of WYD volunteers and an image of ourselves. In the last part of the text, the conclusions are drawn with regard to the analysed results of the research. These conclusions will reveal an image of the youth that take part in the life of the Church in Poland. They can also be a pastoral prompt which shows the expectations of the youth and their view on the adequate ministry addressed to this target audience viewed as ”the hope of the Church”.
Artykuł jest próbą podsumowania analiz i wniosków z badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych wśród młodzieży zgromadzonej na spotkaniu w Krakowie. Wyłaniający się z badań stosunek młodych ludzi do wiary czy oczekiwania wobec Kościoła stanowią przesłanki do stworzenia obrazu młodzieży, która jest odbiorcą działalności duszpasterskiej. Na wstępie autor przybliża metodologię poczynionych badań socjologicznych, a następnie przechodzi do analizy ich wyników. Zwraca uwagę na kwestie takie jak religijność młodzieży i jej aprobata dla Kościoła, socjalizacja religijna; motywy, oczekiwania i korzyści związane z ŚDM, ocena ŚDM, motywacje wolontariuszy ŚDM i obraz samych siebie. W ostatniej części artykułu, w nawiązaniu do przeanalizowanych wyników badań, przedstawia wnioski, które pokażą obraz młodzieży uczestniczącej w życiu Kościoła w Polsce. Mogą być także podpowiedzią pastoralną, jakie ma ona oczekiwania i jak wobec nich powinno odpowiadać duszpasterstwo tej grupy odbiorców postrzeganych jako „nadzieja Kościoła”. Słowa kluczowe: katecheza młodzieży, Światowe Dni Młodzieży, religijność młodzieży, duszpasterstwo młodzieży, młodzież a Kościół.
