This paper proposes a new fault location method in radial medium voltage distribution networks. The proposed method only uses the measurement data at the feeder beginning to approximate the characteristic equation showing the dependence between the positive-sequence voltage and phase angle at the monitoring point with the distance to the fault location for each fault type on each line segment. To determine these characteristic equation coefficients, the entire distribution network will be modeled and simulated by four types of faults at different locations along the lines to build the initial database. Based on this database, the mathematical functions in MATLAB software are applied to approximate these coefficients corresponding to each type of fault for each line segment in the network. Then, from the current and voltage measurement data at the feeder beginning, the algorithms of global search, comparison, and fault ranking are used to find out where the fault occurs on the distribution network. Two types of distribution network with and without branches are studied and simulated in this paper to verify and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The most crucial transmission components utilized in rotating machinery are gears and bearings. In a gearbox, the bearings support the force acting on the gears. Compound Faults in both the gears and bearings may cause heavy vibration and lead to early failure of components. Despite their importance, these compound faults are rarely studied since the vibration signals of the compound fault system are strongly dominated by noise. This work proposes an intelligent approach to fault identification of a compound gear-bearing system using a novel Bessel kernel-based Time-Frequency Distribution (TFD) called the Bessel transform. The Time-frequency images extracted using the Bessel transform are used as an input to the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which classifies the faults. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated with a case study, and a testing efficiency of 94% is achieved. Further, the proposed method is compared with the other TFDs and found to be effective.

This paper presents a comparative study among methods of allocation of fixed costs in Distribution Networks (DNs). The application of these methods allows obtaining distribution use-of-system charges. Three pricing mechanisms composed of two part tariffs are evaluated. In the three mechanisms, the first part is obtained by the Long Run Incremental Cost (LRIC) method. The second one is determined by the following methods: Postage Stamp (PS), MW-Mile (MWM) or Ramsey-Boiteux (RB). The characterization and comparison of each method are performed from the point of view of regulatory principles that define guidelines on network pricing. The results allow identifying the adherence of the methods in compliance with the regulatory principles. Conflicting character between different principles is observed. The methods are tested and validated in the IEEE13-node distribution network. A study along these lines points to the proposition of new alternatives in pricing the use of DNs in the face of the growth of Distributed Energy Resources.

Purpose: Main aim of the following paper is to present the conception of logistics coordination from the point of view of transportation actions from the perspective of the international 3PL company. Design/methodology/approach: In the paper used the case study based on the case of chosen international 3PL, where the distribution network was analyzed. Findings: 3PL is able to support the transportation planning operation in the considered distribution network by using a developed cloud-based infrastructure that supports demand forecasting tool and transportation planning. Originality/value: Paper connects the one function of logistics coordination – transportation planning – with the demand forecasting tool and the issues of 3PL. It is also shown the case study with implemented solution based on cloud infrastructure to support the transportation operations.

As the capacity and scale of distribution networks continue to expand, and distributed generation technology is increasingly mature, the traditional fault location is no longer applicable to an active distribution network and "two-way" power flow structure. In this paper, a fault location method based on Karrenbauer transform and support vector machine regression (SVR) is proposed. Firstly, according to the influence of Karrenbauer transformation on phase angle difference before and after section fault in a low-voltage active distribution network, the fault regions and types are inferred preliminarily. Then, in the feature extraction stage, combined with the characteristics of distribution network fault mechanism, the fault feature sample set is established by using the phase angle difference of the Karrenbauer current. Finally, the fault category prediction model based on SVR was established to solve the problem of a single-phase mode transformation modulus and the indistinct identification of two-phase short circuits, then more accurate fault segments and categories were obtained. The proposed fault location method is simulated and verified by building a distribution network system model. The results show that compared with other methods in the field of fault detection, the fault location accuracy of the proposed method can reach 98.56%, which can enhance the robustness of rapid fault location.

The scale of methane emissions from gas distribution systems has serious consequences for energy security, ensuring the security of natural gas transmission and reducing gas losses in transport. That is why it is important to determine the scale of such emissions from individual elements of the infrastructure. It has been confirmed that such emissions have a significant effect on the military security of EU countries. The emission factor (EF) is affected by many other causes. The best method of calculating the EF is one that takes into account the most variables. A theoretical method of determining the EF has been developed, taking into consideration the age of the equipment as well as pressure, temperature and speed. When comparing the methods in the literature to date, one has to bear in mind that none of them describes the variables that affect the magnitude of the EF. To map an actual emission, it is crucial to have data that describe the gas infrastructure component under analysis, along with the most precise information available to characterise the operating conditions.
Poważne konsekwencje dla bezpieczeństwa energetycznego; zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa przesyłu gazu ziemnego i ograniczenia strat gazu w trakcie transportu ma skala emisji metanu z systemu gazowniczego. Dlatego istotne jest określenie skali tej emisji z poszczególnych elementów infrastruktury. Potwierdzono tezę o znacznym. Współczynnik emisyjności (EF) zależy od wielu innych czynników. Najlepszą metodą obliczenia EF będzie ta, która uwzględnia jak najwięcej zmiennych. Opracowano od strony teoretycznej metodę wyznaczania EF uwzględniającą wiek aparatury oraz ciśnienie, temperaturę i prędkość. Porównując funkcjonujące dotąd w literaturze metody, należy mieć na uwadze, że żadna z nich nie charakteryzuje zmiennych, które wpływają na wielkość współczynnika emisyjności. Aby móc odwzorować rzeczywistą emisję, kluczowe jest posiadanie danych opisujących analizowany element infrastruktury gazowej, wraz z jak najbardziej precyzyjnymi informacjami opisującymi warunki pracy.

The topology identification of low-voltage distribution networks is an important foundation for the intelligence of low-voltage distribution networks. Its accuracy fundamentally determines the effectiveness of functions such as power system state estimation, operational control, optimization planning, and intelligent electricity consumption. The low-voltage distribution network is composed of transformers, lines, and end users. The key task of topology identification is to distinguish the connection relationship between distribution transformers, low-voltage lines, and phase sequence with end users, which can be divided into transformer user relationship, line user relationship, and phase user relationship. At present, the main methods of low-voltage network topology identification can be divided into signal injection method and data analysis method. The signal injection method requires a large number of additional terminal devices and is difficult to promote. The data analysis method combines the characteristics of switch state, voltage, current, electrical energy, and other data to perform topology analysis. The commonly used methods include correlation analysis and feature learning. Finally, typical problems that urgently need to be solved in topology recognition and representation were proposed, providing a reference for the research and development of low-voltage distribution network topology automatic recognition technology.

The paper deals with the concept of centralized demand forecasting and logistical coordination in distribution networks. The aim of the paper is to relate the results provided by the forecasting tools to the basic aspects of logistical coordination. The case of 29 distribution networks in which a logistics operator (3PL) operates and provides contract logistics services to a manufacturing company is analysed. The paper partially confirms the hypothesis of better testability of forecasts based on machine learning algorithms and artificial neural networks for demand planning by the logistics operator to the manufacturer in the framework of logistics coordination in the distribution network. These algorithms perform better for networks with high specificity of flows and food networks. Traditional algorithms, on the other hand, have their better share in creating forecasts for more standard distribution networks. Addi tionally, the second hypothesis regarding the positive influence of modern technological solutions (such as the use of cloud technologies, EDI and flow tracking standards) was confirmed. Additionally, a number of factors that did not have a direct impact on forecasting errors were detailed.

Hydraulic calculations of water distribution systems are currently performed using computer programs. In addition to the basic calculation procedure, modules responsible for evaluating the obtained calculation results are introduced more and more often into the programs. This article presents the results of research on artificial neural networks with a radial base function (RBF) and a multilayer perceptron (MLP), aimed at determining whether they can be used to model the relationship between the variables describing the computational section of the water distribution system and the diameter of the water pipe. The classification capabilities of the RBF and MLP networks were analyzed according to the number of neurons in the hidden layer of the network. A comparative analysis of RBF networks with multilayer perceptron (MLP) networks was performed. The results showed that the MLP networks have much better classification properties and are better suited for the task of assessing the selected diameters of the water pipes.

The growing population and the development of industries in all countries of the world have created a very important and complex issue for water supply to cities. Today, many parts of the world are facing the problem of water shortage and this problem cannot be easily solved. In addition to the proper use of water resources and preventing the loss of natural water, the establishment of regional water supply networks is effective in meeting the future needs of the people. A water distribution network (water supply network) is a set of interconnected pipelines used to transport and distribute water in a complex. In designing the water distribution network, factors such as the type of water distribution network, water pressure, water velocity, design flow, minimum pipe diameter, pipe material and many other factors should be considered. In this study, we have tried to design the water supply network of a part of Balikpapan city in Indonesia. The design method led to the determination of pressure values in the connection nodes, pipe diameters, flow rate and velocity in the pipes. All the existing criteria are considered in the design of the water supply network. Although this study has been implemented for a specific study area, it can be of great help to designers in designing the water supply network.

Artykuł dotyczy teoretycznego konceptu koordynacji logistycznej, która zakłada szeroki udział operatora logistycznego (usługodawcy logistycznego) w aktywnym planowaniu, realizacji i dostarczaniu usług logistycznych, wspomagających oraz VAS w obszarze sieci dystrybucji. W artykule poruszane są przykłady wdrożeń częściowych założeń koncepcji w działalność rynkową oraz opisane jest nowe rozwiązanie, które ma za zadanie ukazać kolejny aspekt koordynacji logistycznej, mianowicie jej wpływ na realizację założeń zrównoważonego rozwoju. Założenia te dotyczyć będą dwóch filarów związanych z ekologią i ergonomią pracy przedstawioną za pomocą optymalizacji w obszarze gospodarki kartonami przeznaczonymi do wysyłki w ramach działalności outsourcingowej. Takie podejście możliwe jest dzięki zastosowaniu nowoczesnej technologii przetwarzania i prezentowania danych oraz zdolności operatora do przejęcia niektórych funkcji w aspektach koordynacji logistycznej. Autor artykułu nakreśla również perspektywy badań w zakresie wdrażania rozwiązań dążących do implementacji podstawowych założeń koncepcji koordynacji logistycznej w realiach praktyki przemysłowej w sieciach dystrybucji, w których funkcjonuje operator logistyczny świadczący usługi w ramach logistyki kontraktowej dla przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych oraz przedsiębiorstw w branży e-commerce.
The article concerns the theoretical concept of logistics coordination, which assumes the wide involvement of the logistics operator (logistic service provider) in active planning, implementation and delivery of logistics, support and VAS services in the area of the distribution network. The article discusses examples of partial implementation of the concept on the markets and describes a new solution that is intended to show another aspect of logistics coordination, namely its impact on the implementation of sustainable development assumptions. The assumptions of sustainable development concern two pillars related to ecology and work ergonomics, presented by means of optimization in the area of management of cartons intended for shipment as part of outsourcing activities. This approach is possible thanks to the use of modern data processing and presentation technology and the operator's ability to take over some functions of logistics coordination. The article also outlines further research perspectives in the field of logistics coordination in the realities of industrial practice in distribution networks in which there is a logistics operator providing services under contract logistics for manufacturing enterprises and enterprises in the e-commerce industry.

Opis:
Feeder reconfiguration (FR), capacitor placement and sizing (CPS) are the two renowned methods widely applied by the researchers for loss minimization with node voltage enrichment in the electrical distribution network (EDN), which has an immense impact on economic savings. In recent years, optimization of FR and CPS together can proficiently yield better power loss minimization and save costs compared to the individual optimization of FR and CPS. This work proposes an application of an improved salp swarm optimization technique based on weight factor (ISSOT-WF) to solve the cost-based objective function using CPS with and without FR for five different cases and three load levels, subject to satisfying operating constraints. In addition, to ascertain the impact of real power injection on additional power loss reduction, this work considers the integration of dispersed generation units at three optimal locations in capacitive compensated optimal EDN. The effectiveness of ISSOT-WF has been demonstrated on the standard PG&E-69 bus system and the outcomes of the 69-bus test case have been validated by comparing with other competing algorithms. Using FR and CPS at three optimal nodes and due to power loss reduction, cost-saving reached up to a maximum of 71%, and a maximum APLR of 26% was achieved after the installation of DGs at three optimal locations with the significant improvement in the bus voltage profile.

Opis:
For a higher classification accuracy of disturbance signals of power quality, a disturbance classification method for power quality based on gram angle field and multiple transfer learning is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the one-dimensional disturbance signal of power quality is transformed into a Gramian angular field (GAF) coded image by using the gram angle field, and then three ResNet networks are constructed. The disturbance signals with representative signal-to-noise ratios of 0 dB, 20 dB and 40 dB are selected as the input of the sub-model to train the three sub-models, respectively. During this period, the training weights of the sub-models are transferred in turn by using the method of multiple transfer learning. The pre-training weight of the latter model is inherited from the training weight of the previous model, and the weight processing methods of partial freezing and partial fine-tuning are adopted to ensure the optimal training effect of the model. Finally, the features of the three sub-models are fused to train the classifier with a full connection layer, and a disturbance classification model for power quality is obtained. The simulation results show that the method has higher classification accuracy and better anti-noise performance, and the proposed model has good robustness and generalization.

In the event of a catastrophic situation, based on the Water Distribution System (WDS) network model, information about detected failures, the condition and location of valves, the number of repair teams, criticality analysis, the coefficient of prioritization of individual network elements, and selected objective function, the algorithm proposes the order of repairing the failures should be analyzed. The approach proposed by the authors of the article assumes the selection of the following objective function: minimizing the time of lack of access to drinking water (with or without prioritization) and minimizing failure repair time (with or without failure aggregation). The algorithm was tested on three different water networks (small, medium, and large numbers of nodes) and three different scenarios (different numbers of failures and valves in the water network) for each selected water network. The results were compared to a valve designation approach for closure using an adjacency matrix and a Strategic Valve Management Model (SVMM).

Opis:
This study simulates and assesses the hydraulic features and residual chlorine in Al-Najaf city’s water supply network using WaterGEMS. Field and laboratory work was done to determine pressure heads, velocities, and chlorine residual. Constructed model was validated using field data. Values of RMSE were between 0.08 and 0.1, and 0.05 and 0.06 for pressure and residual chlorine, respectively. The examination of water distribution system (WDS) during peak demand hours indicated that the pump unit’s capacity could not meet the high-water demand, resulting pressure loss with values between 0.1 and 2 bar. Simulated residual chlorine levels ranged between 0.45 and 0.8 ppm.
