Opis:
The paper is an attempt to show how to introduce elements of distance teaching in philology studies. The key feature of these studies is that the most frequent method of education are workshops and seminars, at which the master-student relationship dominates and the direct thought exchange is fundamental and irreplaceable by any other form of the didactic offer. It appears however, that new technologies can be made use of, along with certain types of distance teaching, despite troubles with breaching the psychological barrier and technical problems. The paper gives factual results of such attempts, illustrating them with products created by lecturers and students. The presentation focuses on the effects of using the new technologies at B.A. and master’s degree seminars on methods of foreign language teaching, literature and linguistics in the past two years, at the Institute of Roman Philology.

W pracy opisano proces wdrażania nauczania w trybie na odległość, realizowanego w dużej skali, krótkim okresie czasu i przy niewysokim budżecie. Projektem objęto trzy wydziały dużej Uczelni, jaką jest Akademia Rolnicza w Krakowie. Łącznie wprowadzono e-learning na 28 przedmiotach dla około 200 studentów studiów zaocznych. Realizowane zadanie miało na celu, między innymi, zbadanie możliwości technicznych wdrożenia nauczania zdalnego w skali całej Uczelni. Po dwuletnich doświadczeniach oceniono, że projekt zakończył się sukcesem.
The paper describes the process of implementing distance teaching, executed on a large scale, within a short period of time and with low budget. The project covers three faculties at a large academy, i.e. Academy of Agriculture in Krakow. E-learning was implemented for a total of 28 subjects for approx. 200 students of extramural studies. The purpose of the performed task was, among others, to check technical capabilities of implementation of distance teaching on a scale of the whole Academy. After two-year experience the project proved successful.

Distance education is rapidly becoming an increasingly important method of instructional delivery for many educational contexts. Distance-learning programs have many benefits, but a great number of distance learning courses suffer from extremely low student completion rates when compared to their traditional classroom-based counterparts. It may be tempting to point to instructional content and methods as the source of low distance learning completion rates. At the same time it can be shown that there are often motivational problems which lay at the root of these statistics. The article considers some problems and perspectives of teaching Engineering Graphics in a distance teaching system at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University on the basis of practical experience of the author’s methodical literature. The peculiarities of distance teaching as a new educational technology, the specific character of educational process organization of distance teaching are discussed among the most important problems. A special emphasis is laid on the importance of methodology providing of Engineering Graphics distance teaching.
Edukacja na odległość szybko staje się ważną metodą nauczania i to w wielu kontekstach edukacyjnych. Programy nauczania na odległość mają wiele zalet, ale też znaczna liczba kursów nauczania na odległość charakteryzuje się niezmiernie niskim tempem uczenia się studentów w porównaniu do metod tradycyjnych. To może sugerować, że źródło niepowodzeń tkwi w samej metodzie. Równocześnie można pokazać, że u podstaw tej statystyki leżą często problemy motywacyjne. W artykule rozważa się pewne problemy i perspektywy nauczania grafiki inżynierskiej, w systemie nauczania na odległość, na podstawie doświadczeń autorki na Uniwersytecie Wileńskim. Dyskutowane są między innymi właściwości nauczania na odległość jako nowej technologii edukacyjnej i specyficznego charakteru organizacji tego procesu. Specjalny nacisk położono na znaczenie metodologii nauczania na odległość grafiki inżynierskiej.

The paper is an attempt to cover some of the issues of using information and communication technologies (ICT) in foreign languages teaching and learning (FLT/FLL) on the basis of intercultural approach. The digitization of the media, their software and hardware combination of computers and the development of networks and their dissemination have made distance learning the subject of research, implementation of practical and scientific reflection once again. Those actions are promoted not only by the development of ICT, but also by progressive globalization, demographic changes and economic and cultural challenges. The scientific discourse is also a part of Polish experiences. The previous treatment of the subject of this paper were historical in nature, fragmentary or were descriptions of individual experiments and experiences of individual universities. Presented approach has not only a synthetic character, but also provides an outline of the original, the Polish concept of teaching - blended learning.

The development of on-line technologies in the last years provided us with a possibility for the efficient video teaching in e- or blended- chemistry learning [1–10]. In this publication we reviewed materials which are available on the YouTube or specialist educational platforms [14–38]. The analysis indicated that on-line teaching has progressed rapidly over recent years (Fig. 1, Fig. 2). This refers also to chemistry. In particular we focused on organic chemistry. The on-line aided teaching of experimental chemistry can also support the traditional courses [9] Our experience indicated that even in bench chemistry on-line teaching can significantly improve the performance of the students. The e-chem project of the educational platform, started for the chemistry students in the University of Silesia in 2005 [15], is an example of the blended chemical teaching that was partially published on the YouTube website (Tab. 2). A number of other chemistry materials are available on YouTube. Some chemistry courses are also available directly at the websites of the universities while the Inducate, Skillup or Coursea [39–42] are examples of the websites that provide further useful addresses for chemistry on-line teaching. A concept of massive open on-line courses (MOCC) [43, 44] that appeared recently inspired several projects of commercial platforms for e-learning, providing a potential bases for the global teaching. The Coursera, Udacity, EdX, Canvas Network are examples of the complex educational portals for MOCCs. At the same time the important universities are vigorously playing in this area in a way to global university. At the moment the MOCC chemistry available was reviewed (Tab. 3). In summary, the development of the on-line technologies provides a possibility for the efficient blended learning based video-aided chemistry teaching. In our opinion this potential is currently controlled not by technical limitations but rather by psychology barrier and formal regulations in local educational law. However, these problems will certainly be solved with the increasing availability of the on-line courses that could be supported by additional real lab classes and/or certified by exams. Global university will be of course a strong competition for a traditional education. On the other hand this also means chemical on-line courses will be better and better developed on the basis on the available on-line technologies. Eventually, this competition will also improve a quality of the traditional chemical education.

Distance education conferences and publications have the longest tradition in Western world countries, where they are focused on introducing professional solutions into business and administration. In Asia, the implementation of distance education is linked to social development and global expansion of national business within the framework of government strategies. In Latin America and in Africa, distance education provides assistance in equalising educational opportunities and in promotion of peace. In post-communist countries, academic centres poorly cooperate with administration and business sectors, which offer competitive and most attractive distance education courses. Algorithmisation of distant education courses results in insufficient development of self-reliance, creativity, and empathy of employees.

The study comprises an attempt to specify culturalization strategies applied by the communities of schools with Polish as the teaching language in Austria, France and the Czech Republic. It was assumed that both children and adults (parents and teachers) may apply different culturalization strategies in various spheres of life and that these differences will be noticeable mostly in the public (social) and private (family) sphere. In order to describe the patterns of the respondents’ adjustment to functioning in a different environment than the culture of their origin, some selected components of Paweł Boski’s cultural model of the acquisition of biculturalism were taken into account. These were: the declared feeling of ethnic identity (of the native country) and/or national identity (of the residence country), the knowledge and use of languages (of the native and residence country), social contacts (with members of the ethnic and national group), family and school duties (in the ethnic and national group) and the granted rights (in both these groups).
W opracowaniu podjęto próbę określenia strategii kulturalizacyjnych przyjmowanych przez społeczności szkół z polskim językiem nauczania funkcjonujących w Austrii, Francji i Republice Czeskiej. Przyjęto zarazem założenie, że zarówno dzieci, jak i dorośli (rodzice i nauczyciele) mogą przyjmować odmienne strategie kulturalizacyjne w różnych sferach życiach, przy czym różnice te będą zauważane przede wszystkim w sferach publicznej (społecznej) i prywatnej (rodzinnej). Charakteryzując wzorce przystosowania badanych do funkcjonowania w środowisku odmiennym niż kultura pochodzenia, uwzględniono wybrane komponenty kulturowego modelu nabywania dwukulturowości opracowanego przez Pawła Boskiego, a mianowicie: deklarowane poczucie tożsamości – etnicznej (kraju pochodzenia) i/lub narodowej (kraju osiedlenia), znajomość i używanie języków (kraju pochodzenia i osiedlenia), kontakty społeczne (z członkami grupy etnicznej i narodowej), obowiązki rodzinne i szkolne (w grupie etnicznej i narodowej) oraz przysługujące prawa (w grupie etnicznej i narodowej).

The article presents the analysis of distant technologies that are utilized by the world methodological society: a set of distance technologies (desktop videoconferencing, e-mail, voicemail, online chat, web-based resources, e-learning platforms), synchronous/asynchronous technologies, m-learning/e-learning technologies. These technologies were analysed from scientific positions concerning their typology, essential characteristics, and linguistic and methodological potential. The authors of the article also provide distance technologies that can be used when teaching Russian language as foreign for medical purposes: synchronous technologies, professional websites, e-learning platforms, e-mails, mobile applications. The verification of distant technologies’ usage is conducted experimentally. The obtained results show that distance learning is useful and should be used in teaching foreign languages for other levels and professional purposes. Not only does the success of distance educational courses depend on the distance technologies that are provided by a teacher, but also we should rely on the consistent and integrated efforts of students, faculty, facilitators, support staff, and administrators.

The article aims to discuss current research trends in the field of Distance Learning (DL). It consists of the following parts: (1) the definitions and characteristics of DL; (2) current directions of research in the field of DL, among others: measuring transactional distance in Web-Based Learning Environments, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in DL, development of learning content and the task for MOOCs, effects of online course efficiency perceptions on Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) measures, new technologies for the DL, the use of metacognitive and affective model Self-Regulated Learning (MASRL), questionnaire (Constructivist Learning on a Scale Higher Settings of Education [CLHES]) as a method of research of constructivist learning environment in higher education, Transactional Distance (TD) theory in DL and online community culture; (3) summary and conclusions with a particular focus on the use of DL methods in higher education. The article is based on the study of literature registered in the databases ERIC, LISA, and LISTA.
Celem artykułu jest omówienie aktualnych trendów i badań w dziedzinie kształcenia na odległość (DL). Artykuł składa się z następujących części: (1) definicje i cechy DL; (2) współczesne kierunki badań w dziedzinie DL, w tym między innymi: mierzenie odległości transakcyjnej w internetowych środowiskach nauczania, uczenie się oparte na problemach (PBL) w DL, opracowywanie treści edukacyjnych i zadania dla MOOC, efekty wydajności kursów online, postrzeganie miar oceny nauczania przez uczniów (SET), nowe technologie dla DL, stosowanie metapoznawczego i afektywnego modelu samoregulowanego uczenia się (MASRL), kwestionariusz konstruktywistycznego uczenia się (CLHES) jako metoda badań konstruktywistycznego środowiska uczenia się w szkolnictwie wyższym, teoria odległości transakcyjnej (TD) w kulturze DL społeczności internetowej; (3) podsumowanie i wnioski ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zastosowania metod DL w szkolnictwie wyższym. The paper is devoted to utilisation of flipped learning for improving educational quality for IT students. The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of flipped learning, the obstacles for its adoption are also described. The modification of educational functions, roles, actions, and interconnections of the participants during implementation of flipped learning is shown. Flipped learning implementation algorithm is proposed for a university discipline. Uniform architecture for flipped course which consists of face-to-face and online parts is provided. Forms and requirements for e-content are described. Approaches and technologies for implementing the online part of flipped learning are also discussed. Innovative educational technologies which may be useful at the stages of meaning realisation and knowledge reflection as well as for creating professional students’ skills are proposed. The proposed solutions are uniform and formed by generalisation of the knowledge about the data domain, they can be utilised at Ukrainian universities.
Artykuł poświęcony jest wykorzystaniu metody odwróconej klasy (flipped classroom) w poprawie jakości kształcenia studentów kierunków informatycznych. W pracy przedstawiono zalety i wady uczenia się metodą odwróconą, opisano także przeszkody w jej wprowadzeniu. Pokazano modyfikację funkcji edukacyjnych, ról, działań i wzajemnych powiązań uczestników podczas realizacji uczenia się metodą odwróconą. Algorytm implementacji uczenia odwróconego jest proponowany dla dyscypliny uniwersyteckiej. Podano jednolity program dla kursu odwróconego, który obejmuje część stacjonarną (twarzą w twarz) i część on-line. Opisano formularze i wymagania dotyczące treści elektronicznych. Omówiono również technologie wdrażania metody uczenia się przez Internet. Zaproponowane innowacyjne technologie edukacyjne mogą być przydatne w realizacji tematów z zakresu IT, a także do tworzenia umiejętności zawodowych uczniów. Proponowane rozwiązania zostały ujednolicone, dlatego można je wykorzystać na ukraińskich uniwersytetach.
