The paper describes a new psychological discipline – reproductive psychology that deals with psychological processes and behaviour of people involved in procreation. However reproductive psychology is regarded as separate discipline it is closely connected to clinical, social, developmental and health psychology as well as psychology of personality. Main methodological issues – research paradigms and research tools were also discussed. The last part gives short presentation of new trends in reproductive psychology research, ie. psychological aspects of assisted reproductive technologies, traumatic stress related to reproductive experiences and analyses of male perspective on procreation.

The article concerns the fundamentals of tourism studies and its methodology. After presenting the current situation, the author comments on the opinions of those whose aim it is to establish tourism studies as a fully independent discipline. This is followed by a presentation of the process of creating a ‘tourism studies’ which is not only multi-disciplinary, but above all an interdisciplinary basis for research. The article ends with a short reflection on the future of tourism studies and some conclusions. It is a discursive article.

W artykule zaprezentowano sposób implementacji mechanizmów zapewniania jakości świadczonych usług w projektowanym punkcie dostępu do sieci bezprzewodowej standardu IEEE 802.11. Zaprezentowano trzy sposoby zapewnienia QoS: dla warstwy łącza danych (przy użyciu funkcji EDCA standardu IEEE 802.11), dla warstwy sieciowej (przy użyciu dyscyplin kolejkowych) oraz schemat łączony Użycie tych mechanizmów w punkcie dostępu do sieci bezprzewodowej umożliwi zarówno poprawę jak i kontrolę jakości świadczenia usług w sieciach standardu IEEE 802.11.
The paper is related to the implementation of mechanisms for providing QoS in access point based on IEEE 802.11 standard. Three different methods for providing QoS are showed: for the data link layer (using IEEE 802.11 function), for the network layer (using queuing disciplines), and for the both mentioned layers (using hybrid solution). These mechanisms allow for improving and proper control of services provisioning in IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks.

The aim for this article is to point out the epistemological and methodological limitations of these procedures which head for making the theology scientific. These limitations result from commonly accepted in the philosophy of science principles, namely autonomy and homogeneity of the particular scientific disciplines. These disciplines in such cognitive acts as: inferring, explanation, interpreting, proving, defining and justification of clamed thesis require the situation in which both clauses of above mentioned endeavours belong to the same cognize plane. Otherwise we would have to deal with the attitude of the cognitive liberalism, which leads in its final consequences to the cognize chaos.

Pastoral theology is different from other theological disciplines, as it has an existential and practical orientation. It is also a normative discipline, forming rules, theological models and directives for actions, which should guide the Church, ecclesial communities and their representatives in various domains and on various levels of ecclesial activity. The normative and practical dimensions of scholarly cognition are a compact whole in pastoral theology. Both mentioned dimensions of theological-pastoral reflection not only do not oppose each other, but they are complementary, indeed they are necessary for each other, since in this reflection the point is that the same reality should be understood that is the mystery of God in his transcendence and historical immanence. Today the key issue is taking into consideration in today’s theological-pastoral reflection both the normative and practical dimensions. This question is connected with a better understanding of the theory and practice in pastoral theology today, and with the cooperation of pastoral theology with humanities and praxiological disciplines dealing with man’s activity. Adequately to the normative and practical dimension of theological-pastoral reflection, pastoral theology should be marked by a holistic (problem-functional) approach, using both empirical and normative methods within the paradigm of the analysis of pastoral theology.

Dealing with the legacy of the discourses of neo-liberalism and new managerialism on the current framing of leadership discourse provides the background to this paper. Increasingly there are strong indications at policy level that the intention of recommendations are very closely aligned to the neo-liberal worldview evidenced by the uncritical acceptance of neo liberal infused language among many key stakeholders. This paper calls for leadership development programmes that will provide for critically informed and engaged leaders who can position themselves as key mediators and evaluators of these reductive policy proposals. To this end it is necessary to make leadership and what constitutes leadership practice more explicit and to cease confl ating it with management so that the knowledge and understanding of leadership within the domain of education can develop fully. This process creates an imperative for a greater engagement with the theoretical fi elds and disciplines linked to education within leadership preparation and development programmes with more encouragement for leaders to continue to masters and doctoral levels so as to build capacity within the leadership community to mobilise the rich and diverse knowledge-base underpinning education to critique and challenge.

The h-index concept has been analysed in aspects of a contemporary tendency of parameterisation of everything and as the potential measure of the knowledge progress, which recognises individuals, institutions and Engineering sub-disciplines that best generate new knowledge. Considerations have been presented at the level of universality of knowledge which implies permanent progress and on the base of careful thoughts of the domestic experience. The h-nature of things has been described, and several axiomatic characterisations of the Hirsch index have been gathered. The mechanism how to increase the h-index has been presented. Some similarities between h-index and the journal impact factor (JIF) have been stressed. Also the universal role of H-index in ranking countries in all areas and in Engineering has been exampled in extended tables. The Glänzel’s model which connects the h-index with two fundamental scientometric indicators: number of publications and the rate of citation, has been analysed. Following the Microsoft Academic Search, the lists of 15 top scientists from various academic disciplines and separately in Engineering have been composed. It has been found that the population of the best keeps basically the same relations between the h-index and a number of publication, and between the h-index and a citation number. However, even the best in Engineering should publish 2 times a year or more papers to receive the same h-index as top scientists in overall domains. The h-index distribution of domestic Engineering sub-disciplines has been presented and analysed in statistic categories. The suitable hhistograms and the cumulative probability density function (CPDF) have been elaborated for 21 sub-disciplines and thereupon the Engineering sub-disciplines have been arranged into three clusters. It has been demonstrated that Engineering as the whole and Engineering sub-disciplines are underestimated, compared to other academic disciplines. The adequate normalisation factors have been suggested. Several other conclusions considered the h,H-indices as the measure of the knowledge progress addressed to individual researchers and to collective, e.g., journals, institutions, organisations, countries, adequately have been written. The h,H-indices are the general measure of the position of the given subject (person or organisation) but cannot be universal.

W obliczu dominującego w oświacie redukcjonizmu zawodowego dochodzi do pomijania wagi wpisywania procesu edukacyjnego i kształcenia różnych szczebli w troskę o nabywanie kompetencji egzystencjalnych, o przygotowanie do życia, w tym do głębszego wdrażania do uczestnictwa w kulturze. Dowodzę zatem niezbędności, ale i możliwości rozwijania pedagogiki wrażliwej egzystencjalnie. Konieczne jest podjęcie dyskursu różnych dyscyplin naukowych jak również dokonanie nowych odczytań klasyki jak i poszerzenie obszaru inspiracji o nowe lektury w szerokim kręgu tekstów i badań. Chciałabym więc przywołać możliwość uzyskania pewnych istotnych impulsów rozwojowych dzięki wykorzystaniu wiedzy dotąd rozproszonej, porozrzucanej w rozmaitych miejscach humanistyki i nauk społecznych. Funkcjonuje ona bez należytej troski o jej sprzężenie zwrotne dla dobra pedagogiki jako wyczulonej na oddziaływanie rozwojowe wobec kolejnych pokoleń ludzi młodych. Uważam, że pedagogika powinna włączyć się w proces przyswajania i przetwarzania takich nowych impulsów, zwłaszcza skupionych nad złożonościami egzystencji ludzkiej, poddanej głębokiej refleksji w trosce o los człowieka.
A dominant, in education, occupational reductionism results in passing over the importance of implementing of educational process on different levels in a care about acquiring existence competences, preparing for life and deeper participating in culture. Therefore, I demonstrate the necessity and the opportunity of developing existentially sensitive pedagogy. It is essential to start a discourse within different scientific disciplines, as well as to reread the classics and to broaden the area of inspiration by adding new lectures, texts and research activities. I would like to recover the opportunity to obtain some significant development impulses using the knowledge which has been dispersed through various places of the humanities and social sciences. It functions without a due care for its feedback for the benefit of pedagogy as sensitive to developmental impact on next generations of young people. It is my opinion that pedagogy should be active in the process of acquiring and transforming such new impulses, especially focused on the complexity of human existence, subjected to deeper reflexion, in care for human fate.

Cognitive literary research began to emerge in the 1980s when cognitive linguists discovered that numerous basic processes of human thinking could be revealed and studied within the field of literature. The study presents a survey of cognitive literary studies, research programmes, disciplines and outputs. The general goal of cognitive literary science is to identify common principles and processes of the literary text, imagination and thinking. This means providing a cognitive explanation with regard to the operation, constituents, methods and purposes of the literary process. It could be said, that every interpretation of non-cognitive literary studies has tended to reveal more correct principles of literature, and even more correct meaning/representation of a work of art (e.g. structuralism). Cognitive literary research/science reassesses these aims. If we add the authorial and perceptive procedural competences (memory, attention, emotions, etc.) to the system of literary notions, we will acquire better methodological instruments for the analysis of: the literary expression and shifts in perception; the examination of literary understanding and its types; resolution of literary agents (author, character, reader); and reasons for the popularity of given literary works and the value/negative value attributed to them. That can help us understand what literariness is, which is to find a solution to the main question of literary research, which has not yet been satisfactorily answered.
Kognitywistyczne badania literackie zaczęły rozwijać się w latach 80. XX wieku, kiedy dostrzeżono, że liczne procesy ludzkiego myślenia objawiają się w literaturze i w oparciu o nią mogą być studiowane. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi przegląd kognitywistycznych badań nad literaturą, wybranych metodologii oraz ich wpływu na studia literaturoznawcze. Nadrzędnym celem kognitywistyki literackiej jest wskazanie repertuaru wspólnych zasad i procesów właściwych literackim tekstom, wyobraźni i kognicji. Oznacza to wypracowanie modelu wyjaśnienia ludzkiego poznania w oparciu o operacje, części składowe, metody i cele procesu literackiego. Jeśli wziąć pod uwagę wymiar percepcji (pamięć, uwaga, emocje etc.) i odnieść go do systemu pojęć literackich, efektem są lepsze instrumenty metodyczne służące analizie tekstu — m.in. w zakresie: literackich środków ekspresji i fokalizacji; badania literackich konstrukcji rozumienia i ich rodzajów; ustalenia narracyjnych instancji literackich (autor, bohater, czytelnik); przyczyn popularności danego dzieła literackiego oraz wartości (zarówno pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych) mu przypisanych. Kognitywistyka pomaga nam więc zrozumieć, czym jest literackość, tym samym naprowadza na rozwiązanie głównej kwestii badań literackich, która nie doczekała się dotąd zadowalającej odpowiedzi.

This article addresses the two fundamental dimensions of an integral formation of future permanent deacons, namely intellectual and pastoral formation. The rapid change that has come about in the conditions in which the per- manent diaconate is exercised, social and cultural changes, the development of ecclesiastical and secular sciences and the development of Christian life in the various moments of its existence all demand of the deacon a solid formation. This is an essential condition upon which the fruitfulness of the perma- nent diaconate depends. For this reason it is of great significance. The intellectual and pastoral formation of candidates for the permanent diaconate are bound tightly together and complement one another. The programmes for the formation in question are found in the national Rationes institutionis diaconorum permanentium, prepared by the Episcopal Conferences and approved by the Congregation for the Clergy. Intellectual formation must embrace all of the disciples that belong to the ecclesiastical sciences and those connected with them. Pastoral formation, on the other hand, must present the theoretical and practical aspects of the ministry of future deacons so that they can carry out their pastoral duties effectively among the People of God.

This article analyses the reviews of Polish books on the history of education and bringing up children in the years 1945-1989. It presents the ways in which critics reviewed new publications and shows the aspects which they paid special attention to. The reviews were published in the most renowned magazines among historians of education and raising children, such as ”Przegląd Historyczno-Oświatowy” (The History and Education Review), ”Rozprawy z Dziejów Oświaty” (Dissertations on the History of Education). Some of them were written by renowned specialists in the field. For contemporary historians, the reviews may constitute an interesting source of information on academic criticism from the times of the Polish People’s Republic. They may also bear witness to the hard work and efforts made towards conducting thorough studies into the history of education and bringing up children over various historical periods.

Opis:
Inquiring Aristotelian conception of rhetoric as an art of persuasion, the author of the article aims in presenting rhetorical ethos and rhetoric itself in reference to practical disciplines, politics and ethics. Understanding rhetoric’s autonomy as a theoretical postulate this inquiries introduce a demand of functionality and axiological awareness: to treat art of rhetoric as an organon for the practical disciplines and to acquire attention of normative problems concerning particular features of rhetoric and rhetorical ethos. The article investigates Aristotle’s original conception of rhetoric and the troubled but essential connection between techne and praxis. Proposing a solution, the author initially puts forward a project of establishing a new normative conception of rhetorical ethos meeting the demands of contemporary praxis (especially in the field of education) on the basis of a concept of uprightness.

Klasyfikacja dyscyplin szczegółowych, ich wyróżnianie, uzasadnianie potrzeby istnienia, a w konsekwencji także rozwijanie, jest jednym z ciekawszych problemów metodologicznych nauk empirycznych. W artykule przedstawione zostaną różne strategie wyróżniania subdyscyplin socjologicznych. Rozważania te będą punktem wyjścia do określenia obecnego statusu naukowego socjologii morskiej jako odrębnej dyscypliny szczegółowej.
One of the most interesting methodological problems of empirical science is the one how to classify specific disciplines and justify the necessity of their existence. In this article the author presents the different strategies of distinguishing sociological subdisciplines. These considerations will constitute the starting point for determining the current status of maritime sociology as a separate scientific discipline.
