hunting management - Opis:
- This paper presents a confirmed case of pulmonary helminthiasis in a male roe deer, shot as part of hunting management. Pulmonary lesions in the form of parasitic nodules, in the absence of other pathological changes in the viscera, as well as in the carcass, did not affect the assessment of the carcass as edible. In the presented case, only internal organs were disqualified from human consumption. However, the presence of the parasite in the natural environment and the possibility of its transmission to other animals, both wild and domestic, especially sheep grazed in the area where the infected male deer was shot, presents a specific epizootic threat. This can lead to both, economic loss and the possible threat to public health.
