The author of the paper presents the concept of teaching in the STEAM model in relation to the necessity of building competence of tomorrow among pupils of primary schools and even preschools. The author sets forth the status of digitisation of Polish schools in the light of the most extensive Polish digitisation survey: the 2017 Digital Diagnosis. The author primarily discusses the conclusions from studies pertaining to the status of digitisation of the Polish schools in the context of implementation of the STEAM model as a concept for developing competence of tomorrow. Results of studies conducted in June 2017 among pupils, parents and teachers are presented. The study was prepared and conducted by a team of researchers/academic employees of the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw in cooperation with PCG Edukacja under the supervision of the author of this paper. The study encompassed 100,129 respondents from primary schools, middle schools, high schools, technical schools and vocational schools from all provinces in Poland. The article touches upon the issue of influence of modern digital media on the attitudes of recipients/ broadcasters (digital communicators) related to their creative activities. The first indication applies to the fact that the development of digital technologies introduces a new digital order of communication (from the primary order, through the secondary and hybrid order, to the digital order), which in turn provides communicators with a broad spectrum of new methods and tools of communication 0 including tools permitting creative activities. Second of all, it is noted that despite the mentioned rich offer of digital tools and the promotion of creative attitudes, digital media, in particular global social media, are dominated by attitudesof re-production related both to common re-distribution of existing content (sharing, copying and pasting, etc.), and even limiting creativity entirely (likes, tags). The remarks made are compared to opinions of digital media researchers and neurobiologists indicating on the one hand the weakening/ dissolution of the reception of content by digital media (the negative effect of multi-tasking), and on the other hand, the supersaturation of emotions related to the reception of content (negative influence of computer games). In conclusion, attention is turned to the necessity of establishing in contemporary communicators (on all levels of education) of digital communication competences, in particular the promotion of creative attitudesrelated to these competences.

Keywords: high-order thinking, development of thinking, education system, digital technologies. The authors address the problem of the development of high-order thinking. The article offers an overview of approaches to actualizing the transformation of the concept of reflexive design thinking to higher-order thinking. The authors concluded that society’s demand for higher-order thinkers can be solved by reviewing the construction of the learning process. This hypothesis was tested on the example of the B.A. students of vocational training at Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU). The results of the experiment led to the conclusion about the possibility of using high technology as a factor contributing to the development of high-order thinking (including self-consciousness).
W artykule autorzy zajmują się problemem rozwoju myślenia wyższego rzędu. Tekst zawiera przegląd podejść do transformacji koncepcji refleksyjnego myślenia projektowego na myślenie wyższego rzędu. Autorzy doszli do wniosku, że droga do odpowiedzi jak zaspokajać zapotrzebowanie społeczeństwa na osoby o wysokim poziomie myślenia, rozpoczyna się od analizy procesów uczenia się i nauczania. Hipotezę tę przetestowano na przykładzie grupy studentów Państwowego Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Nowosybirsku. Wyniki eksperymentu doprowadziły do wniosku o możliwości zastosowania zaawansowanej technologii jako czynnika przyczyniającego się do rozwoju myślenia wyższego rzędu (w tym samoświadomości).

Opis:
The article considers the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for higher education in Ukraine and in the world. The results of research by the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, the European Association for International Education are analyzed. The impact of the pandemic on teaching and learning is determined. International academic mobility and cooperation, as well as the financial situation of higher education are described. In addition, diffculties, fears and challenges faced by higher education institutions around the world during the corona crisis, which require swift and adequate action, are presented. The main part of the article shows the results of a survey of teachers and students of higher education institutions of Ukraine, devoted to the analysis of problems and challenges faced by students in the transition to distance learning, as well as new productive opportunities created by the online format. The main problems faced by the main participants in the educational process include the quality of teaching and organization of the distance learning process, the growth of the workload of teachers and students, technical and fiancial problems. The results of the survey show both the assessment and satisfaction with the measures already taken by higher education institutions to ensure quality and effective distance learning, and help to understand the next productive steps to be taken to expand teaching and distance learning opportunities and access to learning opportunities during life. Educators’ assessment of the opportunities and benefis created by the distance learning format demonstrates the motivation of teachers to improve their own skills and abilities, mastering the new tools required by the distance learning format. In the case of students, such advantages become first of all economical ones, e.g. expansion of opportunities for a combination of study and work as well as economy of time and means.
W artykule analizie poddano konsekwencje pandemii COVID-19 dla szkolnictwa wyższego w Ukrainie i na świecie oraz wyniki badań Międzynarodowego Stowarzyszenia Uniwersytetów, Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Uniwersytetów i Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Edukacji Międzynarodowej. Określono m.in. wpływ pandemii na nauczanie i uczenie się, a także scharakteryzowano: międzynarodową mobilność akademicką i współpracę; sytuację finansową szkolnictwa wyższego; trudności, zagrożenia i wyzwania, przed którymi stoją instytucje szkolnictwa wyższego na całym świecie podczas ograniczeń pandemicznych. Ponadto przedstawiono wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród nauczycieli i studentów ukraińskich uczelni wyższych, poświęconej analizie problemów i wyzwań stojących przed uczelniami w procesie przejścia na kształcenie na odległość, a także nowych możliwości, które oferuje format online. Główne problemy, z którymi borykają się uczestnicy procesu edukacyjnego, obejmują: jakość nauczania i organizację procesu kształcenia na odległość, wzrost obciążenia pracą nauczycieli i uczniów oraz problemy techniczne i finansowe. Wyniki badania z jednej strony pozwalają dokonać oceny i określić stopień zadowolenia z działań już podjętych przez instytucje szkolnictwa wyższego w celu zapewnienia wysokiej jakości i skutecznego kształcenia na odległość, a z drugiej strony pomagają zrozumieć kolejne kroki, które należy podjąć w celu rozszerzenia możliwości nauczania i kształcenia na odległość oraz dostępu do możliwości uczenia się w ciągu życia. Dokonana przez nauczycieli ocena możliwości i korzyści wynikających z kształcenia na odległość pokazuje motywację nauczycieli do doskonalenia własnych umiejętności i zdolności oraz do opanowania nowych narzędzi wymaganych przy zdalnym kształceniu. W przypadku studentów korzyści z takiej formy nauki są przede wszystkim ekonomiczne, np. rozszerzenie możliwości połączenia nauki i pracy oraz ekonomia czasu i środków.

The article analyses the relations which exist between the hopes related to the use of education of new media and digital technologies and the specifics of Polish Language teaching. The paper shows the complexities of such relations by means of the problem of using new technologies as tools which help to teach complex skills, such as interpretation. The article indicates the optimistic suggestions steming from the Internet interpretative practice and the limitations connected with it in the case of teaching interpretative competences. W niniejszym artykule poruszona została tematyka realizowanego od roku szkolnego 2012/2013 pilotażu rządowego programu „Cyfrowa szkoła”. Od powodzenia tego przedsięwzięcia zależeć będzie jego realizacja w przyszłości na szerszą skalę. Z tego też względu system edukacji stoi przed ogromną szansą na unowocześnienie i pełne dostosowanie do wymogów społeczeństwa informacyjnego. W pierwszej części autorzy opisują ogólne założenia programu. Druga część natomiast przedstawia szerzej zagadnienie e-podręcznika oraz zagrożenia, jakie mogą wynikać z jego nieodpowiedniego stosowania.
In the following article the authors thoroughly discuss the “Digital school” pilot program, which was first introduced in the school year 2012/2013. Its future implementation at schools on a larger scale is entirely dependent on its success. Therefore, the education system needs to face both the challenge and opportunity to upgrade and fully adjust to the requirements and expectations of the information society. In the first part of the article the general objectives of the program are described by the authors. The second part is devoted to the issue of the e-textbooks and the risks which may result from its improper use.

The article presents selected aspects of the process of cognitive functioning of the users of contemporary technologies and the Internet, with special consideration of the negative effects of being immersed in the digital culture. The introduction synthetically characterizes the digital world, focusing on the most active users of the virtual space. In the body of the text, the author analyzes the negative effects of an individual’s functioning in the Internet space, especially those related to the change in the way of information acquisition and processing. The conclusions refer to implementing educational postulates connected with helping students develop the culture of behavior in the virtual space, involving as major elements the ability to distance oneself from digital media, to engage in deep reflection, and to organize and sort the acquired information. These skills are treated as crucial, ensuring the rational use of digital technologies. Focusing educational activities on the formation of youths’ media competence offers them an opportunity of fuller intellectual development, the sense of security in the context of expansion of the media, and active participation in the information society by structuring the available information and the knowledge constructed on its basis.

The article discusses the problems and challenges faced by contemporary university education system in the context of the new technologies and digital media development. Changes that occur in the modern educational process force us to revise the commonly used forms and didactic methods, which correspond to the needs of the new digital students. Authors in their text characterized the assumptions of digital pedagogy and present new perspectives for the development of digital education in the context of the humanities and social sciences.

In the European Union, by 2025, it is planned to create a single European educational space. It means that knowledge of English is of vital importance for representatives of all professions and for teachers in particular. According to the research, teachers’ English language proficiency is on a rather low level. Digital technologies can help to improve the situation. Today, there are many opportunities on the Internet to learn a foreign language using Youtube, blogs, podcasts, where many content has already been generated. The Blended Learning Concept of Foreign Languages is being developed using the online platform “Lingva Skills” for language training specialists at universities. Thanks to digital technologies, knowledge and content become public, helping to align hierarchies previously based on knowledge and focus instead on skills and intelligence. For deep and comprehensive learning, it is worth using digital technologies that promote more intensive and better assimilation of foreign languages.

Regardless of how the contemporary young generation is described, there is no doubt that their permanent connection to the Internet and an incredible expertise in using information and communication technologies are one of the features that define those who grow up at the present time. Such strong involvement in digital media entails a number of health and development consequences for children and teenagers. In order to minimize the potential risks and negative effects of new media, it is essential to take action aimed at increasing awareness in terms of positive and negative aspects of using digital devices as well as at gaining abilities to use them in a way that is the most optimal and favourable for health. Social media has become an essential element of communications in modern society. Accordingly, higher education institutions need to adapt their marketing management to modern realities, including social media usage in the marketing communication policy. Therefore, the purpose of the study focused on the research on social media usage in marketing management of higher education institutions is becoming more important. Unlike other researchers, the authors of the present study have conducted a representative survey of marketing managers of Polish and Ukrainian higher education institutions. They have assessed the level of social media usage and investigated the popularity of tools and forms for promoting higher education institutions in social networks. Methods of compiling and grouping data, analysing the structure of the population and its elements distribution and evaluating relationships were used to analyse the survey results. The authors revealed some significant similarities between the respondents’ replies from Poland and Ukraine to prove the proposed hypotheses: marketing service managers of higher education institutions understand the important role of social media; higher education institution marketing managers use the same set of tools for promotion on social networks. The hypothesis that the priority directions of social media usage by marketing managers of higher education institutions are advertising educational services and maintaining contacts with students has not been fully confirmed. Management decisions of Polish higher education institutions primarily aim to attract international students, while Ukrainian institutions seek to establish and maintain contacts with students.
Media społecznościowe stały się istotnym elementem komunikacji we współczesnym społeczeństwie. W związku z tym uczelnie muszą dostosować zarządzanie marketingowe do współczesnych realiów, w tym wykorzystanie mediów społecznościowych w polityce komunikacji marketingowej. Dlatego też coraz większego znaczenia nabiera cel badania skoncentrowanego na badaniu wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych w zarządzaniu marketingowym uczelni. W odróżnieniu od innych badaczy, autorzy przeprowadzili reprezentatywne badanie wśród menedżerów marketingu polskich i ukraińskich uczelni, na podstawie których ocenili stopień wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych, a także zbadali popularność narzędzi i form promocji szkolnictwa wyższego. instytucje w sieciach społecznościowych. Do analizy wyników ankiety wykorzystano metody kompilacji i grupowania danych, analizy struktury populacji i rozmieszczenia jej elementów oraz oceny zależności. Autorzy ujawnili istotne podobieństwa między odpowiedziami respondentów z Polski i Ukrainy, aby udowodnić dwie następujące hipotezy: menedżerowie usług marketingowych uczelni rozumieją ważną rolę mediów społecznościowych; Menedżerowie ds. marketingu instytucji szkolnictwa wyższego używają tego samego zestawu narzędzi do promocji w sieciach społecznościowych. Hipoteza, że priorytetowymi kierunkami wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych przez menedżerów marketingu uczelni wyższych jest reklama usług edukacyjnych i utrzymywanie kontaktów ze studentami nie została w pełni potwierdzona. Decyzje zarządcze polskich uczelni mają na celu przede wszystkim przyciągnięcie studentów zagranicznych, natomiast uczelnie ukraińskie dążą do nawiązania i utrzymywania kontaktów ze studentami.

Opis:
The article is devoted to the problem of specification of approaches to the design and implementation of electronic educational courses in conditions of continuously and dynamically changing digital information and learning environment of the modern university. Based on the results of the content analysis of the digital infrastructure and regulatory documentation of the Siberian Federal University and the discursive analysis of the leading trends in the field of digital education, necessary conditions for a successful professional pedagogical activity are described. On the basis of smart education principles, possible solutions to the problems of teaching at university, such as personification of teaching, project-oriented courses and initiating the launch of mechanisms for students’ informal self-education are synthesized and justified.

W artykule autor omawia główne zjawiska związane z technologiami będące reprezentatywnymi dla drugiej dekady XXI wieku, które najsilniej oddziałują na odbiorców (szczególnie na dzieci i młodzież), a tym samym na edukację. Opisuje relacje między technologiami a nauczaniem ze szczególnym skupieniem się na pozytywnym oraz negatywnym ich wpływie na kształcenie. Przedstawia główne zasady działania technologii cyfrowych, a także powiązanych z nimi nowych mediów (i dalej tzw. nowych nowych mediów). W dalszej kolejności przywołuje dane dotyczące poziomu komputeryzacji Polski i zestawia je z poziomem komputeryzacji polskich szkół. Prezentuje aktualne podstawy programowe informatyki oraz języka polskiego w kontekście ich nawiązań do technologii cyfrowych i cyfrowych kompetencji komunikacyjnych.
In the article the author discusses the main phenomena related to technologies that are representative for the second decade of the 21st century, which have the strongest impact on recipients (especially on children and teenagers), and thus on education. The article describes the relationship between technologies and teaching with a special focus put on the positive and negative impact on education. The author of the article also presents the main principles of the operation of digital technologies and related with them new media (or so-called ‘new new media’). Furthermore, the article also presents data of the level of computerization of Poland and compares them with the level of computerization of Polish schools. The author presents the current core curriculum of computer science and the Polish language in the context of their references to digital technologies and digital communication skills.
